00:30Stunning, stunning victory for a man who's never won, Ytikai, Verstoffer. It is a victory.
00:37I also remember every day I pass to surfing in the bench, not only in the bench but in the break, alone, at the back, at the front, at the training and I just deserve it I think now.
00:47Two stages, two leaders. Milano passed the red jersey to Verstoffer yesterday but he'll have a job on his hands to hold on to it today.
00:54We're expecting a GC battle on Eastern Mountain. Milano is still in green.
00:59Patrick Kosciourny is in gold and Thibaut Groel, the best young rider.
01:03We started strong in Muscat Classic and then obviously Milano won first stage and luckily we lost two guys already with some sickness so yeah, it's getting harder and harder for us but today maybe it's a good opportunity to try something.
01:16It's very an honour to have a leader jersey in the race. I will do something good today to show and to prove these jerseys and nice jerseys to have.
01:28Yesterday Baptist Verstoffer stunned the peloton from the breakaway but today the terrain bites back. We're in Samael heading 191.3 kilometres to the summit finish at Eastern Mountain.
01:43So welcome to that first true summit finish of the 2026 Tour of Oman.
01:51Samael is called the Valley of the Mosques and it's almost the longest stage of the race, just 100 metres shorter than yesterday.
01:58The breakaway yesterday took it but today it should be a general classification battle.
02:02And as soon as the flag dropped it was chaos and would you believe Baptiste Verstoffer once again made the breakaway.
02:11The best form of defence is attack and Verstoffer was proving it.
02:15He's trying to force the breakaway again and he made it.
02:19It was a strong group as well. Six riders including Rui Oliveira, Jenson Plowright, Alex Boudin all with him.
02:26A dangerous move. It might go all the way but we didn't think it would.
02:32As the peloton charged towards the base of Eastern Mountain, a significant crash on a roundabout.
02:39The peloton fractured immediately. There were Vismalisa bike riders down and then another crash at the next roundabout.
02:45The big victim here, Valentin Paré-Pintre.
02:51On they went though, leaving in their wake all those who'd been caught up in those crashes.
02:56And it was a very reduced bunch that made it onto the lower slopes.
03:00Naira Quintana was there. We haven't seen him for a while.
03:05Bad news though for Valentin Paré-Pintre.
03:07Even more bad news. A mechanical.
03:09His chain dropped as he changed gear on one of the steepest slopes.
03:13Up ahead though, it was all about victory and all about these final few hundred metres as they approached the finish line.
03:20Naira Quintana was up to the front and it looked like he might be dancing his way up these slopes to victory.
03:30How we've missed seeing him there.
03:32Meanwhile, at the back, the red jersey was not going to win today.
03:36He didn't think he would and he proved correct.
03:38But Quintana had made himself a bit of a gap.
03:41Could anybody make it across?
03:43Yes, they could.
03:44It didn't stay away for long.
03:45And in fact, it was Mauro Schmidt who caught Quintana and then went straight past.
03:51But there was Adam Yates, the pre-race favourite.
03:53Fifteen seconds back.
03:54Both him and Paré-Pintre really struggling.
03:58Schmidt though was powering away.
04:00The only Scaroni from Astana could even stay anywhere near him.
04:05And it looked like Schmidt was going to get his second victory of the year.
04:08His second victory in four days.
04:13It was a long lost kilometre.
04:15I expected the climb to be a bit less hard.
04:18We expected quite a big group going into the lost kilometre.
04:22But with the crash, everything was a bit different.
04:24But yeah, I'm definitely happy with the shape.
04:30Adam Yates lost 22 seconds on stage three to Schmidt.
04:34But I don't think he'll be too worried about it.
04:36Scaroni and a great result from Teotter of Uno X.
04:46Schmidt takes over the red jersey.
04:48Three days and three different wearers.
04:52Scaroni and Teotter second and third overall.
