Tropical Storm Basyang has caused severe damage across several provinces of the Philippines, leaving at least 12 people dead and affecting more than 232,000 residents. Most of the victims were reported in Surigao del Sur, where landslides and flash floods followed heavy rains. Disaster management authorities continue rescue and damage assessment operations in the hardest‑hit areas of Mindanao. Nearly 54,000 residents have been relocated to 480 emergency evacuation centers as authorities work to provide relief and support to affected families.
