00:00In today's Media Miss Minute, a federal judge is pushing back on the Trump administration
00:04on when immigration officers can make arrests without warrants.
00:09Plus, New York City's mayor is calling for a man who attacked police with a knife not to be prosecuted.
00:17Welcome to Media Miss Minute. I'm Craig DeGrali,
00:20bringing you two stories getting uneven attention across partisan media,
00:25starting with what viewers on the right are likely missing.
00:27A federal judge has ordered immigration and customs enforcement agents in Oregon
00:32to stop making warrantless arrests, unless there's a clear risk a suspect could flee.
00:38That ruling directly contradicts a recent memo from acting ICE director Todd Lyons,
00:43which expands agents' authority to conduct so-called collateral arrests,
00:48detaining undocumented immigrants encountered during operations, even if they were not the original target.
00:54Many left-leaning outlets are now reporting that New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdami
00:59is urging prosecutors not to bring charges against a man who was shot by police last week
01:05after coming at the officers with a knife.
01:08The mayor says the man, identified as 22-year-old Jabez Shakraborty,
01:13has long struggled with schizophrenia.
01:15It is clear to me that what Jabez needs is mental health treatment,
01:21not criminal prosecution from a district attorney.
