00:00I am partnering with Pfizer and the American Cancer Society for a new kind of series,
00:07one where people who have lived with cancer share their favorite family recipes and the powerful
00:13stories behind them. My mother's favorite time of year was Christmas. I'm making salmon croquettes.
00:19This might be the only recipe of my mom that I know by heart. She passed away first thing
00:24Christmas morning. Oh, I'm so sorry. Yeah, it was rough. For a couple years, I didn't really
00:28celebrate Christmas. I am the third woman in as many generations in my family to be diagnosed with
00:35breast cancer. My mother, you know, my mother didn't tell me that she had cancer. So we never
00:40got to have those conversations. So what I do now is when I cook with my children, that is my time to
00:46have those conversations. I don't want them to be afraid of cancer. How important it is to pass down
00:54these recipes. You're able to open up and have hard conversations. Food is love, food is joy,
01:02and this extra 20 pounds on my hips. There's so many things. To learn more about cancer risks
01:08and resources, visit cancer.org slash change the odds.
