00:00You know, there's a big furor, and I understand it, we've talked about it on this show as well,
00:03as to why Bill Belichick did not get into the Hall of Fame in his first crack in that new,
00:08you know, the five finals thing, right? The contributors to the sport and the players and
00:13all that stuff. And now Robert Kraft doesn't get in. And that, of course, in and of itself,
00:18is a legitimate story. Arguably the greatest owner of all time. Not even arguably the greatest
00:23coach of all time. And neither guy gets into the Hall of Fame. Tony Dungy has a vote.
00:28So, Tony Dungy's, I'm sure, out in San Francisco. You know, Radio Rowan doing a bunch of interviews
00:33and whatnot. NBC has the Super Bowl. So, all the NBC broadcasters now meeting the media,
00:38and they're being interviewed for Super Bowl coverage. So, a reporter says to Tony Dungy,
00:43well, you have a vote. Did you vote for Bill Belichick? Did you vote for Robert Kraft?
00:50And I want to play this for you with the acknowledgement that somehow, someway,
00:56Tony Dungy is in the Hall of Fame as a coach. He's already in.
01:01Yeah. Let's take a listen to what Tony Dungy said. Go ahead.
01:04Robert Kraft, Bill Belichick. Did you vote for them? And what was your reaction to them
01:09not getting inducted into the Hall of Fame?
01:11Well, first of all, we don't know that they didn't get inducted into the Hall of Fame.
01:14I'm a voter. I have not heard who's in or who's out. So, I'm not going to make a comment
01:18on it and speculate. We'll find out, I think, on Thursday who's in and who's out.
01:25Did you vote for them? I said I'm not going to make a comment on it until we find out who's in
01:30and who's out. So, he refuses to make a comment. If you didn't hear the end of that, the reporter
01:34does a good job with the follow-up. Did you vote for them? And he says, I'm not going to make a
01:38comment on it. Now, it's already been leaked out that neither guy made it. We did not have to wait
01:43until tomorrow to find out the official word as to which one of the three, if one, two, or all three
01:48of the players got in. We know that Belichick didn't get in. We know that Kraft didn't get in
01:53because it's been leaked, right? But here's the problem. Why wouldn't you tell us if you voted
02:00for Kraft and if you voted for Bill Belichick? What are you afraid of? Yeah, that's a good point.
02:06Because by not answering the question, and by the way, there's legitimate reasons not to have
02:11voted for them because you can only vote for three of the five candidates. And as a former player and
02:16coach, you might say, I want to make sure that these three players, so I've always started deserving of
02:22getting in. You'll finally get to a moment in the sun. That's an acceptable answer.
02:26And he played against, I think, all three of them. Definitely two of them he played against
02:30during his playing games. To me, that's a good answer. Look, I had to pick three. I couldn't
02:36pick all five. Obviously, I believe that the greatest coach of all time, and a guy that was
02:41a better coach than I was, belongs in the Hall of Fame. Obviously, I believe that the owner
02:47with the most Super Bowl wins belongs in the Hall of Fame. But for some reason, he can't
02:52bring himself to say that. So the way I read that is, without saying the actual words, and
02:57yes, I could be wrong, my guess is he did not vote for them. Right. That's my guess.
03:02Right. I agree.
03:03Now, we may never find out because the voters do not have to tell you. And the pro football
03:07fame does not tell you which guy voted for whom. That's voter, that's on you. Right.
03:13If you have a vote, and you want to share publicly who you voted for, that's your decision
03:17to make. But it's just a reminder of how, like, swarmy and not douchey, because I know he's a nice
03:24man. And obviously, you feel for the tragedy he's been through. Oh, yeah. Losing a son to suicide.
03:29Absolutely. And I'm very sensitive to that, obviously. But the reality is that, like, what does
03:35Tony Dungy bring to the table? Tony Dungy's lone Super Bowl was because he was lucky enough
03:41to have Peyton Manning as his quarterback. And now, I'm not sure why he's even in the
03:47Hall of Fame, based on his win-loss record as a coach. Yeah. Bill Belichick won six Super
03:52Bowls. Tony Dungy has one. And Bill Belichick's not in. And Tony Dungy is. Now, good for him.
04:00Good for him that he got in. Obviously, he's a bit of a trailblazer. You know, blackhead coach
04:04in the NFL, getting to a Super Bowl, winning a Super Bowl. There's obviously a lot of value to
04:09that as we fight for more black men to get jobs as head coaches and coordinators in the
04:15NFL. So he represents a guy that got it and won, which is a great storyline. But why is
04:22everybody so afraid of Tony Dungy? Why does everybody kiss Tony Dungy's ass? Why is Tony
04:27Dungy so swarmy? What does Tony Dungy bring to the table that makes him, you know, held in
04:34such an exalted speech and above reproach as the guy that's in the Hall of Fame when
04:40the guy that can run circles around him as a coach is not in the Hall of Fame?
