00:44So you've got representation of the Khuqi community also and one of the highest posts in the Manipur government.
00:56So you've got representation of Manipur's growth, national growth, which has come to Manipur, and Manipur's component is 36 communities.
01:10And Manipur's component has been managed by these 36 communities.
01:16Okay, I'll bring in baby Shireen for more details on this. Baby, good evening.
01:30Just run us through the significance really of the choice of leaders here, whether it's a METE leader as chief minister,
01:37or for that matter, a Khuqi leader, first woman to be the deputy chief minister of Manipur.
01:42Hello? Baby Shireen, go ahead. We can hear you.
01:58Yeah, repeat the question, because there is a noise and I can't hear you.
02:07Okay, we're going to reconnect with our correspondent there to get you those details.
02:12But important highlights here.
02:14One is that after 12 months, president's rule being revoked, Manipur getting a new chief minister,
02:20Imwaiki Singh, a METE leader, but importantly also two deputy chief ministers,
02:25in which the symbolism is hugely important here.
02:27Namcha Kipgen, first woman, first person from the Khuqi Zou community to hold such a high-ranking position in the state.
02:34And the second deputy chief minister, Lossi Diko.
02:36Now, represents the Naga majority region affiliated with the NPF, that's a BJP ally.
02:44So, very carefully, leaders have been chosen.
02:46Also, with the hope that with this kind of representation, that you have a METE chief minister
02:50and someone from the Khuqi Zou community as a deputy chief minister,
02:54the strife that we've witnessed in Manipur comes to an end.
02:59Baby Shireen is with us for more details.
03:01Baby Shireen, if you can hear me, take us through the significance of the leaders who've been chosen,
03:06the symbolism involved here.
03:13Yeah, today...
03:17Go ahead, we can hear you.
03:23Okay, I sense your apologies there for not getting that connection through,
03:34but we will get you more details, really, that we're picking up on the significant moment,
03:38a historic moment indeed, for Manipur.
03:45Okay, let's move on to news from Karnataka.
03:48You had BJP and JDA's MLAs today staging an overnight sit-in protest at the Vidhan Sauda,
03:54a sleepover protest.
03:55Why?
03:56Because they're demanding the resignation of excise minister R.B. Timapur
04:00over allegations of a massive corruption scandal involving his department.
04:05Despite the growing pressure, the minister has remained defiant,
04:08saying he's done nothing wrong.
04:09Karnataka's Vidhan Sauda turned into a political battleground overnight.
04:30BJP and JDA's MLAs spend the night inside the Assembly,
04:33staging a dharna,
04:34demanding the resignation of excise minister R.B. Timapur
04:38over alleged liquor gate.
04:41The opposition is alleging large-scale bribery in the excise department,
04:45particularly in the granting of liquor licenses.
04:49This is the biggest loot in Karnataka.
04:54Already, Prime Minister Narendra Modi told in the press,
05:01in Maharashtra election,
05:03700 crores from the liquor,
05:05Karnataka came to Maharashtra election.
05:08This is the statement of Honorable Prime Minister.
05:11When this is the case,
05:13there cannot be investigation as per their wishes.
05:18The proper investigation has to be carried out
05:21and truth should come out.
05:24This is our demand.
05:25So, if investigation has to be carried out,
05:28the concerned minister,
05:30the allegation of 6,000 crores corruption,
05:36the excise minister is bound to resign.
05:39No evidence, nothing.
05:41Minister Thimapur refused to buckle under pressure.
05:44Tempers fled further when a Congress MLA sparked fresh controversy
06:07with a dog jibe aimed at the NDA.
06:09From religious chants to slog naring in assembly,
06:38the battle lines are clearly drawn in Karnataka.
