00:00A rites group has called on independent preacher Zamri Vinot to cease his campaign against
00:05what he describes as illegal houses of worship following his move to notify the police about
00:11a peaceful protest against such sites this weekend.
00:14In a statement, Pusakomas said Hindu temples in Malaysia had long and complex histories
00:19built around estate workers and laborers, and that the issue must be approached with
00:24care, compassion, and a conscious understanding of history.
00:28Pusakomas also said that while Malaysia had largely advanced from the racial segregation
00:33instilled by the country's colonizers, it had faced painful episodes of communal tension
00:38fueled by certain groups.
00:41The NGO also urged Malaysians to uphold rationality and adhere to the principles of Rukunegare.
00:48Malaysia Kini reported yesterday that a coalition of NGOs planned to hold a rally in Kuala Lumpur
00:53on Saturday to pressure authorities to take action against illegal houses of worship.
00:59Tangwangi District Police Chief Sazali Adam confirmed that the organizers had notified the police
01:04about the event, which reportedly involves around 141 NGOs.
