00:00I think the most valuable thing about loving the beauty about you is just
00:12choosing, you know, to say everything about me is perfect and imperfect. We're all
00:16unique and there's nobody else in the world that's like us. I just choose to
00:20love myself and choose to love the things about me that are imperfect and to
00:24me I make them perfectly imperfect. I grew up in a predominantly white
00:34neighborhood and we did deal with a lot of racism and I did have teachers that
00:38told me I would never be successful with the things that I wanted to do or told
00:40me I wasn't pretty enough, I wasn't talented enough and for some reason as a
00:44child I realized that I had no other choice but to believe in myself. As I
00:49grew up I learned to just love myself more and it's kind of a life journey too
00:53because you fall in love with yourself and then I feel like as you get older
00:55you fall more in love with yourself. I am defined in every way about every part of
01:01who I am as a black woman. It's the way that I see the world, the way that I
01:04experience the world, sometimes the way the world experiences me. It's something
01:08I'm really proud of. On my journey I've had nothing given to me. I've had to fight
01:13for everything and I'm grateful for that.
01:23I would tell young Megan, number one it's not that serious, that she's worthy. I would
01:33tell her that she's enough. I would tell her that she's adequate. There's nothing
01:37more incredible than you uniquely being yourself. It hasn't always been easy. I
01:41have because I can't survive any other way. I have to be exactly who I am and I
01:46would tell her not to just do it because it's the only way for her to survive but do
01:49it with pride and do it with grace. I love being who I am. I love being a black
01:56woman. I love being a woman of color. I love being exotic and I love the strength
02:01that we represent, the journey that we represent, everything that we are that is
02:05so unique and incredible. I'm honored to be a part of that and I'm honored for that
02:09to be something that defines me.
