00:08say your full name. Thank you. A year ago did you ever imagine that you and your castmates would be
00:12here winning the Essence Black Women of Hollywood Vanguard Award? Not at all you know I was here a
00:18year ago at this event and I was sitting in the audience and just wow and I was like wow there's
00:25Loretta and there's Alfre and just everyone and to like you to your point a year later here we are
00:33being honored and we're just so humbled I'm so humbled thankful that we get to stand before
00:40all of these women and be considered one of them it's really awesome. Orange is the New Black took
00:46the world by storm did you ever see this coming and what has been your reaction and experience
00:51it's just you know starting out in Orange is the New Black the day that I got the script I was
00:57nervous because I was playing an inmate and I didn't know if they were going to go on the go in
01:03the direction of a stereotype but then as I read the script and I got to work with the women I was
01:10like this project is very important because we're telling stories that haven't been told you know we're
01:15stripped of all of the glam you know the hair and the makeup and the costumes and all you get is
01:20us the core of who we are and I feel like that's what people relate to and to now be in a position
01:27where there are young chocolate girls that see me and they're like oh I can do it too you know because
01:34of my uniqueness they are inspired to do what they love so it's been a great journey and I'm glad that
01:41this is the beginning of my career working on a piece like this all right last question finish this
01:48instance I love acting because I love acting because I'm able to look inside of me and highlight the
02:03beauty beautiful parts and work on the not-so-beautiful parts that I find within a character and because of
02:11that reflection that I have within myself others are able to reflect in themselves
