00:00hello hello hello welcome to episode three of shop essence live i am so excited about today's small
00:12business women they have some amazing products for you guys you see i'm representing in my mess
00:17in a bottle message turtleneck that i bought myself after episode two so i'm putting you guys
00:22on to some amazing products but then also supporting our small business owners and today
00:28we have some amazing businesses for you so let's say hi real quick real quick we got tasca from
00:35glow girl cosmetics and we have robin of sarah and rose so we're gonna bring up robin and she's
00:41gonna talk about her bags hey robin hi stephanie how are you i'm amazing so why don't you tell me
00:51about sarah ben rose what was your inspiration to start your business
00:55my inspiration to start my business was i think born out of maybe two or three things but i think
01:04the biggest was the desire to tell our stories as africans through design um and it's true
01:11multi showing how multiple multiplicity could be um you know it's not one thing it means it's not
01:20three things um people believe that african fashion or african things or african people
01:25have to look a certain way um you know people only think for example ghanaean kente or bright colors
01:32um which is you know a huge part of our culture but um you know i would wear before i started the
01:38brand i would wear stuff that i got made there and the biggest thing people would say to me is oh
01:43that doesn't look african that's really nice but it was 100 made in africa product so yeah i'm going
01:50to change that narrative yeah so incredible and how long has have you been in business like what was
01:59the road map to getting from having this idea to now being on shop essence
02:04i said i would wear bags that i got in handmade liberia where i'm from and people would always ask
02:19me to get bring them back for them which i did and then after like the second or third time i did i was
02:24like oh one day i'll start a business but you know just let it die i had the idea died in the back of
02:30my mind i was really busy trying to finish my law degrees and all that stuff and going down that path
02:36um i lasted a couple months in that before it was cemented but it was clearly not for me
02:43and i was trying to figure out like what makes me happy like what makes me motivated
02:49and the only thing i could think of was me being in africa and working in africa as i've done in other
02:58capacities so i like just basically dug in my mind i remembered that i used to want to start this
03:03business and i went back in like this time of 2016 i didn't really tell anyone why i was going back
03:11and i went back to the first people i started with and i drew a bag that they don't usually
03:17um create they don't usually work with textiles and the leather and they made this gorgeous beautiful
03:24prototype and i basically knew we're in business and i think i did my first event around um december
03:31of 2016 um my first christmas market i only made like a hundred dollars but uh yeah so really 2017
03:41to now um now we have a store in brooklyn uh we've done a holiday pop-up we've done five
03:47national trade shows um expanded to two other countries and i work with five production groups
03:54uh so yeah just keep on trying to tell the story of african people and things in as many ways as
04:00possible love that and then now you mentioned you have a store in brooklyn and we know with covid19
04:07and this pandemic hitting that's hit a lot of small businesses how has your business um adjusted how
04:14have you been affected by this um my business was affected hugely just because so much of my sales are
04:28retail at the moment um you know we're starting to build we've only been open about three months
04:35we've started to build this huge community out there um i'm not gonna lie initially it was it felt
04:42devastating but you know i wiped my face and got up and dealt with it and uh i gotta say you know
04:49so far e-commerce uh you know by no means is my e-commerce you know obviously you know what i dream
04:56it to be or what i should have probably focused on it being before um but as soon as april began
05:03my exist mostly my existing customers my existing email subscribers from the store um from shows are
05:10the ones that really came through and e-commerce wise we had the best month ever so i think it's just
05:16you know making me recalibrate and shift into focusing not just in e-commerce but you know diversifying
05:25into other things that i probably had on the back burner right commerce other products you know other
05:31channels things like that so it's it's a very painful way to learn the lesson very suddenly but
05:39you know everybody's going through it so many people are you know in much more difficult situations so
05:45i think focusing on my strengths and everyone else you know however you're writing it out focusing
05:51on the strengths you have to get through this is you know the best thing you do that's what i do yeah
05:59really really agree and that's such a good point focusing on your strengths and i think now is the
06:05time to try all those things like you said like the things you had on the back burner why not
06:09try them now um so speaking of support let's see your products what do you have to show for us today
06:17these are all available at shop.essence.com so i have a few things i have three things um so this is an
06:28example of these products combining the textiles are examples of um telling the story of african design
06:36and heritage in ways that i guess we're not used to seeing um so over time as i you know just challenges
06:44a business you know realize that i wasn't going to have this just work in one country and do one
06:48type of thing um i'm in a place now where i combine a lot of the textiles from west africa which has been
06:54really popular i personally prefer them but my customers did too and we produce a lot in east africa
07:02as well just the production capacity is higher and it's a type of leather people are used to so
07:08this is a fanny pack and a croft body that you can just adjust um just by extending the strap so this
07:18leather is kenyan it's east african leather so it's really thick really high quality um full grain leather
07:26and styles from liberia this textiles uh called country cloth it's actually really common in guinea
07:32and sierra leone which also border liberia and you know most people see my stuff with stripes and they're
07:38like oh you have such cool nautical patterns and i have to give them you know before colonial times
07:44when african print was introduced uh to the continent this was this is our hand woven material this is the
07:51material that's been you know hand hand woven on looms for thousands of years it used to be used as
07:57currencies dowries across west africa um you better get the history lesson robin yeah that's incredible
08:08such a great conversation piece to wear and know the history um of these patterns really really great
08:18what's the next thing yeah um and so similar one similar to these two um these are also both made in
08:27kenya but the textiles from the ivory coast um which borders liberia to the east but it also borders ghana
08:33so they have a lot more um bright colors ombres intricate weavings uh and options like that
08:41and um i think telling the story of you know in africa that you know using east and western materials
08:49and craftsmanship but ness is not necessarily doing designs that people associate with being african um fun
08:56fact i actually grew up in the uk most of my life so um this design here is called the london bag
09:04and i i am you know i think there's a lot of people like me in certain ways where your parents are from
09:12somewhere or your ethnicity is from somewhere but you've grown up in a different place or you just
09:17like or influenced by different things um so i'd say this is definitely a british style kind of satchel
09:23bag it has a strap that goes across your body as well it can make it a cross body um but you know being
09:29able i i don't feel like when people are making things with african materials and making things
09:35in africa they want to make things that resonate with a global audience or a contemporary lifestyle
09:42you know it's trying to sort of pigeonhole us into you know small little like colorful
09:47things or beach things or tropical little cheap things which is fine too but you know we can also do
09:54things that will last you 10 years or 15 years and you can hand down to your kids and take to work
10:00uh fit your laptop in and you know practical things so yeah that's great that's why i do what i do and how
10:09i do and how i design beautiful amazing and then so you sent me some bags too yeah what's what's the
10:18bags that you want me to do first i have this one i'm sorry cow hair yeah so that's a smaller version
10:31of the original bucket bag that we started with in liberia um it's uh smaller you know just around it's
10:38also handmade in kenya with textile from cote d'ivoire it's called baole or kita depending on the region
10:45then you see examples there that differ of the hombres and the shades of orange and yellow
10:50so each bag is kind of unique you know i personally go to markets in liberia and ivory coast you know i
10:58go to like the off the beaten path not the tourist markets the ones where people tell me not to go to
11:04to reach the people that you know the mainstream economy just isn't reaching right now because it's
11:10too difficult to buy from old ladies you know deep deep into these markets to get the fabrics and the
11:17materials um so that's where for example the bag you're holding fabric from from abidjan and um i sort
11:25through the aid and send them to kenya and then i wait like kenny and then we match the textiles with
11:33the leathers and um yeah to you know make people feel like like i said you can have something high-end
11:41quality but still authentic at the same time that's not mass produced or a copy of something or a print of
11:47something yes and you know black women we love a unique style right and now what do we have here i
11:56love this no this i'm glad you like it so this one is a cow print so that's an example of one um that
12:06the team in kenya um it was you know we most of my designs are 100 mine sometimes the artisans are like
12:14try and tell me like this isn't quite possible and we have to go back and forth this one
12:23they really wanted me to experiment with the cow hair i was unsure about it and it's done really
12:30well it sold out at essence fs last year and all the colors um it comes it comes in a light brown like
12:37a charted top chart dark chocolate mahogany and the black and white um that's just the pure kenyan cow
12:43hide yeah the zipper top um and that's 100 kenyan so you know the whole thing is just playing around
12:51with different things when i started in kenya i used traditional kenyan maasai textile but people
12:56thought it was scottish carton um so you know that's still i think has a bit more of like an
13:03african flair when you go to kenya there's all these things on safaris and the maasai and that kind of
13:08fits in um with like the animal print there so uh yeah and they're all like the quality of it it's
13:16just so absolutely amazing so this is definitely worth it and cute and stylish and unique and they're
13:23all a conversation piece because you have some history robin was putting you on to some history
13:28there so that's so amazing we have some questions rolling in robin for you so i'm gonna take a look at
13:34these now people want to know people want to know okay so terry ann wants to know what's been your
13:41most satisfying moment in business um so my most satisfying moment in business was probably
13:54the last holiday season we had um was our highest revenue month i didn't even i'd never
14:03made as much as we did in december of 2019 and i didn't even know i was frankly working so hard i
14:11didn't even stop to notice that i had done um and what was going to trump that is that before coven 19
14:27incubator program with a national the large national retailer um obviously now the program
14:33was not happening anymore um but at the time when i had gotten in and all that stuff looked like it
14:38was going into motion we were going to i was going to present the collection to you know these top
14:43retail execs um that felt really satisfying and i like i think it was the first thing i cried about in
14:49my business uh but it's okay it'll happen at a different time yeah no that's really really great
14:57um tarian monopolizing all the questions but this is a good one if you guys have any questions please do
15:02send them in she also wants to know how do you market your business and which tactics have been
15:08most successful with marketing your business ooh um
15:16it's hard when you're the entrepreneur to pinpoint one thing and say that that one thing has been the
15:23most successful because i do think there are so many other things that feel like they're not successful
15:29but it probably builds up to it and they definitely change over time um well right now in covet 19 email
15:38marketing is working for me um emailing my existing subscribers you know um they do want to hear from me
15:47trying to remind yourself of that um that it's not annoying them to be up in their inbox they gave you their
15:53email for a reason um but you know so far up until now you know the in-person events experiences i've
16:03found obviously may not be as effective as certain e-commerce strategies that are really popular right
16:09now but you captivate people that are more passionate and a very strong brand advocates because they've
16:14been able to get out there and actually see and feel and touch your product and they remember meeting you
16:20and um they remember all kinds of things about your brand so um yeah smaller but it's a far more intense
16:28way of doing yeah i think that's really really smart so we have several people asking if you offer
16:36vegan bags are there any vegan products or vegan bags i see a couple of different people asking that
16:43so uh i would say stay tuned one of the many things we're working on um we've got some exciting new
16:54partnerships um with some groups already doing some great work um yeah in two of the countries that i
17:00work in in africa um that just need a market so we will have be releasing some vegan bags really soon
17:10um but i do want to probably take this moment to bring up something i do get asked a lot um and i
17:16have been asked a lot in the last couple of months with regard to leather and vegan is that a lot of
17:21people feel um that they stop want to stop using leather because of um you know their beliefs on animal
17:30rights issues and the way animals are treated and i can't speak for the mainstream leather industry in most of
17:37the world um but what i can speak for in the countries that i work in is that in it's you know every
17:45cloud has a silver lining every silver lining has a cloud the industry and infrastructure is not so
17:51developed to the point where animals are actually um being killed for leather the leather is a complete
17:57byproduct of um traditional communities that have been uh shepherding sheep or goats or cows for thousands
18:06of years traditional tribes that's all they've ever known how to do and so meat is what you know
18:13that's their only asset in many parts of the rural kind rural areas where i work and actually in both
18:19west and east africa um tons and tons and tons of hides are just thrown away or just buried in the
18:26sand because there's nothing to do with them and so it's not framed that way no pun intended um in
18:39essence all of the leather that we use is just a small drop in the ocean of the wasted hides um because
18:47the real valuable thing is the meat like in in many areas that's the only protein that family um can use
18:53to feed themselves so by the time the hide gets to the market it's almost like the cheapest thing on
18:58the animal slash most of it isn't even used so um right and we don't you know we're we're trying to
19:05kind of uh tap a very untapped market here with regards to the african leather yeah really really
19:12great you guys make sure that you follow robin and sarah ben rose she's got some gems she's got all
19:17the history we're going to uh bring up tosca now in a second but robin thank you so so much don't
19:24go anywhere i'm gonna bring you back at the end so before we get into these products i'm sure you can
19:30talk about them better than i can um tell me about the inspiration of starting oh girl your mission
19:38statement all that good stuff okay well now that i finally am able to collect myself
19:43the floor is yours my phone so i want to say hello to everybody thank you for bearing with me
19:49um one of the inspirations about glow girl i get so excited um about this company um i i want to tell
19:59anybody out there if you ever have a dream go for it i never thought i was going to start my own
20:05company i've been in the cosmetic industry for many many years and it i i didn't even think about it you
20:13know um that this was something i could do and if you have a dream even if you don't get to where
20:18other people think that you should get to just go for it shoot for the stars um when i started glow
20:24girl i it came about just because um there was working for other brands at the time and i've worked
20:32for some of the heavy hitters out there um in my career and some of the colors would never be right
20:38or they only catered to certain types of audiences or i would be told you know well that's not really
20:44our audience and i'm looking around at all my friends and family and they're like a rainbow of
20:50people um and i wanted to have a brand that was about celebrating global beauty and celebrating women
20:59um because i really feel that at the end of the day as women we all go through the same thing and we
21:05shouldn't be um restricted or defined by the color of our skin i think that you know um red lipstick
21:13looks good on everyone and so when i first started glow girl i started out with um my lipstick collection
21:19which those of you who um have purchased glow girl and seen it you know that this is this is where it
21:25started the glow and um the glow came about because glow girl is your glow is in here you know my tubes are
21:34gold and and they are kind of glowy but your glow is is your your inner fierceness it's your inner fire
21:42um that keeps you going and and you know that that when you feel like all hope is gone that it's that
21:49energy that you're able to tap into so that's what glow girl is to me oh my gosh and we all need a little
21:55glow right now tosca yeah we really do that is so beautiful so why don't you always why don't you also
22:03talk about um just how you've been adjusting right now we have a global pandemic happening we've been
22:10hearing different news every single day not knowing when the end is in sight um but they're giving more
22:16money to small businesses because the first bout of it got taken up by big businesses which was insane
22:24um but how have you been adjusting in your business how have you been girl um well you know i it's it's been
22:32difficult um being a small indie brand um it's tough right now you know i glow girl has been hit like
22:39everybody else and the smaller brands feel it even more because we don't have you know those big box
22:45retailers um but i do think that within this crazy storm that we've been going through um as a world
22:55because it's not even as a culture as a nation it's it's the world this has really given me a chance
23:02to um reflect on myself the goals the things that you know i have that i'm planning out for glow girl
23:11and in and it's really a mindset um don't get me wrong i i've had my moments of meltdowns and like oh
23:18my god what am i gonna do and is this the end for glow girl and who wants makeup anyway but in the age
23:26of zoom and all of these you know camera calls so my thing is why not be camera ready just because
23:35you're stuck in the house don't lose you all you glow girls out there all that glow nation don't
23:40throw in the towel and go on your call in a bathrobe celebrate you wearing makeup is it's it's like um
23:48it's it's kind of it's it makes you feel good you know even if you put nothing on but red lipstick
23:54you know it just it does something it lifts the spirits sometimes i'll put makeup on i don't have
23:59anywhere to go because i need to feel good my hair is not done i can't get to the shop i paint my own
24:05nails but i can still feel good so yeah you know i just i think it's just about staying positive you
24:11know and figuring out your next move wow amazing so our next move is to talk about this makeup girl
24:19all right so what are you going to show us first um well from what i can hear what i could hear i
24:26know you talked about the goddess palettes um so i have two goddess palettes um we have the original
24:32goddess and these were a complete labor of love for me i infused my whole soul in these and i i designed
24:40them um i did the fonts i did everything so i argued with my manufacturers because they didn't get my vision
24:47and i'm like no no this is what i want um so the first uh goddess palette the black and the gold
24:54everything about these palettes was uh very purposeful the black is supposed to be symbolic
24:58of black onyx um the gold uh gold's treasure when you open it up you'll see it's gold again and then the
25:09bottom so what i did is i took the goddesses to the warriors to the inspiration of women so on the bottom
25:16row of the first one you have newt mayat sekhmet then you have our warriors angela asada elaine and
25:23then you have our modernized creatives you have maya nina and melina who is a dear friend of mine
25:31and a civil rights activist out of la so hi melina um on the back of the palette um with all my palettes
25:39i try to say something either fun or meaningful and so on the back of this palette it's a powerful
25:44inspiration of eyeshadows for the strong the fearlessly bold and the beautifully unapologetic
25:51find your goddess now my next one is the goddess too so where i was really crazy about this one i had
26:00a whole other vision for the goddess too which is what you're wearing and um this one if you look on it
26:06it it's it's gold so i was thinking of um i was looking at some pictures of the king tut treasures and
26:14i got this idea like why not make it symbolic of a brick of gold inladen with the turquoise
26:20yes and then when you open it up these are the treasures and so i really went goddess mode with
26:26this one so we have amunette um tandiwe which is actually the daughter of melina in here i wanted to
26:34honor her because i thought she's such an amazing little young goddess um doing great things in her
26:39community down in southern california um and then we have nephthys isis best step mehit uh trina who's
26:49an amazing local woman who really was one of the first people to talk to me about the ten laws of
26:55mayat and she has a yoga studio out here and then we have hathor and anut these are great colors the
27:03pigments on them are really strong anyone can wear them and lastly my little saying on the back for
27:11this one is to be a goddess be to be the goddess of your dreams or the woman of the hour this supernatural
27:18mix of shimmer and matte eyeshadow allows you to be that and so much more find your goddess claim your
27:26throne walk in power i wanted that to be a very powerful statement for all of you out there stuck in
27:33the house freaking out you can still walk in purpose and in power with a little bit of eyeshadow too
27:41exactly that's so amazing tosca and then let's talk about these glow lighters yes very very popular
27:50so have my collection um i don't know if you guys can really see it it's sitting in front of me i'm so
27:56afraid of losing the sound that i'm trying not to really move yeah don't move it don't move it
28:00yeah right um popular coat my i would say probably my most popular colors are the cocoa glow and the
28:10sun goddess very heavily pigmented i'm gonna stick my finger in this one right here and you can see
28:16on the back of my hand it's really these powders have a little bit of crushed pearl in them they're mineral
28:26based um they can be used on the eyes and face uh the uh sun goddess is a beautiful orange
28:37again they can it can be used on the eyes and face love love love these colors my personal favorites that
28:44i tend to kind of dip in and out and mix with everything lit um yes love lit this is for that
28:52effortless glow when you really don't want to look like you're doing too much and you're
28:59you can just notice that it comes with one of these
29:04it fell out of the bottom but this is nice i even love this little applicator and it's a little clear
29:09at the bottom so you could be fab on the go girl you are fab on the go i must say
29:16i love it i would say too probably for like a little quickie if you're gonna get in front of
29:24a zoom camera for a conference call or if you're interviewing from home for different jobs having
29:29a little bit of a glow lighter if you don't feel like doing the whole eye shadow i get that it's just
29:35sometimes not convenient throw a little mascara liner but throw in a little glow it really uplifts the face
29:41and then we also have um my very very popular boss glosses a low key is the number one seller
29:49throw a little gloss on there is nothing like dry lips interviewing or being on you know you're not
29:56going to do lipstick do a little something a little shine a little bit of a a glow it just it makes you
30:02appear happier is that what you're wearing now are you wearing that now i am well actually no
30:11i take that back i'm actually wearing my favorite lipstick it's called dopeness um this is my
30:16absolute favorite i could wear it every day and i did put just a little bit of gloss that i've been
30:22kind of playing around with um some formulas that are not quite ready yet um but you can also put like
30:28a clear on top of it but dopeness is my favorite and i was coming to see all of you guys today so i did
30:34a little bit of lipstick i love that and then um let's see make sure you guys drop in the comments
30:42if you have any questions it could be about her business it can be about her products or just her
30:48so inspiring both of our business women are today um anything else did you go through all the the
30:55different colors of the lip gloss oh um how many are available on shop.essence.com yes they're
31:01available on shop essence oh and i do want to say for those of you because i know we did mention
31:05the lipsticks the lipsticks are not on shop essence you'll find those on the glow girl website at
31:10glowgirlcosmetics.com um but to get back to the lip glosses so the colors that we do have available
31:17this is quiet storm um see this is a really nice kind of sheer gray i don't know if you guys can see that but
31:26this is quiet storm um the ever popular low key and actually this is really really popular on the
31:35essence website as well so this is low key it's just a really nice um flesh tone it looks great on
31:43any skin tone and let's see we've got a little drama free this one's got kind of like a little sandy orange
31:51tone to it and one of my favorites this is fake breezy it's a little bit of a kind of a like it's
32:02i would say kind of a lilac gray if that makes any sense at all gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous there you have
32:10it so colors and then i do have which is not here a color called hella pink and kiss kiss so for those
32:19of you that like uh pinks that are kind of like sheer i definitely recommend those but ladies and
32:26gentlemen um i recommend if you are going to take a conference call celebrate someone's birthday
32:32throw a little gloss on and these retail for twelve dollars love that so we're getting some questions
32:38crystal wants to know and this is coming up next sunday uh what do you recommend for mother's day
32:45oh mother's day that's a really great question hi crystal um you know for mother's day i it's all
32:55about the glow up but really mother's day is so personal so some mothers are really fabulous mothers
33:00and some mothers it's not that they're not fabulous all of our moms are fabulous but in terms of how they
33:05like to express themselves so i think it's really personal if you know your mom is not really a makeup wearer
33:11i would probably say based on her skin tone um maybe just maybe a little bit of a glow lighter just
33:19to give her a little nice sheen and some lip gloss um i would keep it really simple for the minimalist
33:25mom but if you ladies know that your mom is fabulous and when she goes to church turn it out
33:32then i would recommend the goddess palette the goddess palette with um one of the glow lighters and maybe
33:40a gloss or a lipstick it and again it's really really personal you guys know your mothers better than
33:46i do um so just kind of really think about her and what you think would look good on her amazing and
33:53i could probably have some glow girl cosmetic fans in here because when does the goddess palette three
34:00come out and what's next oh i mean they got everything and they want to know what is next i am working on
34:08the goddess three palette um and it is going to make these two look stupid um i am i'm so excited about
34:20that uh i don't have a release date but great question and you can see i'm grinning ear to ear i keep
34:27changing my mind um and i think that i'm driving my manufacturers crazy because i keep making them
34:34adjust the colors and then i decide i don't want the colors so all i can say is stay tuned um but it is
34:41coming great question thank you awesome and then dawn she wants to know what products do you recommend
34:47for someone like me who doesn't uh she doesn't like i have like to have a lot of highlights i guess
34:53she's saying i'm 70 and i want to keep my makeup natural looking with a pop of color but not so
34:58much i like that question don um you know i would say here's the thing i think because of the um
35:08highlighter craze that you know happened where people were turning up like shiny light bulbs um i think
35:15turned a lot of people off i've seen some of the instagram posts and i was like wow that's really
35:22interesting um i think having a little bit of glow is not a bad thing even if you don't wear a lot of
35:29makeup it really comes down to just a very soft touch that can look so nice you know if you put a little
35:36powder on um if you're not really a big lipstick i mean i'm sorry a makeup wearer i would definitely
35:42recommend a lipstick you can never go wrong with the right shade of lipstick and you know red lipstick
35:50looks good on everyone so maybe just putting on a red lipstick throwing your glasses on um but just
35:55finding that right shade of lipstick i would say and for someone that doesn't wear makeup i don't
36:00usually like to tell them gloss because i like people to kind of step outside their comfort zone a
36:05little bit just a little just if you tell them just a little bit right um trina now before i read
36:13your question your name is in this palette so i don't see why i would not get this i'm just saying
36:21um but trina wants to know uh do you offer consultations like if someone wants to buy something
36:27but they don't know what's right for their complexion what palette can they reach out to you
36:33great question and just so everybody knows that trina that's asking the question is the namesake
36:39of trina she's a very amazing person so she's like she slides in the comments like consultations girl
36:49you know based on my schedule and um running my own company i don't like i really don't have the time
36:57to commit to that um and i never want to leave anyone disappointed every now and then i might if it's
37:03someone you know that's nearby or a friend or a family member but in all honesty i think it would
37:08be really unfair to offer those services and not be available um to do them at this time now that may
37:15change um and you know i i do them if i'm at i have special appearances if um i'm traveling with the
37:23makeup show for those of you that are familiar with the makeup show um that i've had the opportunity
37:28to sit down with me i will do that but at this time um i can't you know make those kind of promises
37:35but we'll see anything can change thank you trina and if you think about it this is a consultation
37:42right now exactly exactly in the comments we're hooking you up with a free consultation from a very
37:49busy woman um okay so i think we have covered it hold on one thing just came in
37:56all righty if you from sierra if you have to pair a lip gloss with a lipstick with a low lighter she
38:03just wants the whole just tell me what the whole package is what should i get which one should you
38:07choose and why so if she was going to go right now and uh buy a combo what would you put together
38:15and we could see her you see her profile picture let's look let's let's do a little consultation so when
38:22you see her profile picture do you notice the resemblance that would be my daughter you know
38:29you got the whole family in here that's good i love it hi sweetie um but you know
38:36she's gorgeous it's a great great question uh that would be more of a consultation type question
38:44because i never want to just suggest something for the sake of selling something i take this very
38:52um seriously and i feel that when someone asks you those questions it's my responsibility to make
38:57sure that i have absolutely serviced that customer to the best of my ability so i would probably start
39:03out by asking questions like what's your skin tone like um you know if you had to pick a celebrity
39:09who do you think your your skin tone most represents so that will kind of help give me um a picture
39:15because i process things uh visually um from there i would say okay well typically you know i i i like
39:23to start out with a series of questions and from that point i can put together products that i think
39:28would be a best a better fit because i know many of you have had the experience of going into a store
39:34with some of these very popular brands they sit you down and it's like did you even see what i look
39:40like when i came in right and you come out looking like a sea monster and you're gray and you have
39:46blue green and then they top up a little glitter with a big shiny slope down your nose so yeah that's
39:52never my intention um i really like to customize the look and it starts out with asking a series of
39:57questions yeah i'm gonna have one more question and then i'm gonna bring bring robin in to um and the
40:03show joy wants to know if this makeup is good for sensitive skin i know a lot of people have that
40:08concern yes absolutely it is um it they are non-comedogenic um they're paraben free they're
40:16cruelty free it is good for sensitive skin now sometimes because i have even found with even some
40:22natural brands if there are specific things that you're allergic to and it's happened to me um which
40:28you can't know until you try on so i never i will never say 100 oh you won't have a reaction because
40:35there might be one specific ingredient but i have not had that issue so far thankfully
40:43all right awesome okay well thank you everybody who's been sending in questions you guys have been

42:18you've never been you have to do things you never thought you could do amen and for when you feel like
42:26giving up uh in times i would say you have to take a step back and ask yourself which is greater your
42:35challenge or your why oh that's a word robin that's a word that's really really good tasca
42:44what about you um i would say uh you know make sure you do your research on whatever it is that you
42:52want to start for your business make sure that you have filed for the appropriate licenses that
42:58you've already got your social media and everything set up too so that you can um hold the names make

43:34you you are going to be your best cheerleader and it is hard it is hard but you can do it
43:42i love that and then what is uh what's like a mantra that you say to yourself if you ever reach
43:49those roadblocks or you ever come across that person that's just like what you're doing girl you
43:53know you can't like what do you tell yourself to get yourself out of those moments to keep going and
