Ce dimanche 25 janvier marquait le dénouement de la première course WorldTour de la saison, le Santos Tour Down Under, avec une ultime étape disputée autour de Stirling sur une distance de 169,8 kilomètres. Initialement privée de la mythique ascension du Willunga Hill, annulée en raison de la chaleur extrême, cette dernière étape s’est finalement transformée en étape reine de cette 26e édition. À l’arrivée, c’est le jeune Britannique Matthew Brennan (Visma | Lease a Bike), 20 ans, qui s’est montré le plus fort pour s’imposer. Il devance Finn Fisher-Black (Red Bull–BORA–Hansgrohe) et le meilleur sprinteur de l’épreuve, Tobias Lund Andresen (Decathlon–CMA CGM). Déjà vainqueur de l’étape d’Uraidla, Jay Vine (UAE Team Emirates–XRG) a parfaitement maîtrisé cette dernière journée pour remporter le classement général. L’Australien décroche ainsi son deuxième sacre sur le Santos Tour Down Under, après celui obtenu en 2023.
