00:01:18Welcome in to a very special Wake Up Barstool.
00:01:22As you can see, our 100th show.
00:01:26Whoo!
00:01:27They said it couldn't be done,
00:01:29and here we sit a centennial of shows later.
00:01:33It is currently negative six degrees outside.
00:01:36No, I think it's way colder than that.
00:01:38Feels like negative 21.
00:01:39It is insane.
00:01:40No exposed skin.
00:01:42What a time to be alive.
00:01:44What a time to be doing some...
00:01:45Hey, there's my car.
00:01:46...morning sports television.
00:01:48Yeah.
00:01:49There's my Bronco.
00:01:50It's a cool one.
00:01:53It's perfect, though,
00:01:54and I could not be more excited.
00:01:56T-Bob Hebert,
00:01:57Michael Kadick,
00:01:58Dana Beers,
00:01:59Megan making money.
00:02:00We got all our great Friday segments
00:02:02that we normally do coming up.
00:02:03The money corner remains hot, Meg,
00:02:05in these frigid temps.
00:02:06What was last week's record?
00:02:07Three and one,
00:02:08and I think the only one we lost
00:02:09was the juice to play.
00:02:11Everything else was plus money.
00:02:12Let's go, dude.
00:02:13Look at that.
00:02:14Megan kicking ass,
00:02:15and she got more picks for you
00:02:17coming up later today.
00:02:18Let's go.
00:02:19All right, though.
00:02:20I want to talk a lot of NFL here to start.
00:02:21Obviously, Dana,
00:02:22massive Patriots fan,
00:02:23so excited to get into
00:02:24both the AFC and NFC championships.
00:02:26But first,
00:02:27and they'll be back in the game
00:02:29again this weekend.
00:02:30Back in Denver, guys.
00:02:31Back in Denver.
00:02:32Live bet lads.
00:02:33Live bet lads.
00:02:34Live bet lads.
00:02:35They look great.
00:02:36As someone said last night,
00:02:37the live bet lards.
00:02:38Oh.
00:02:39That's not nice.
00:02:40Wait, so y'all did after dark last night?
00:02:42Yeah.
00:02:43How are y'all feeling?
00:02:45It wasn't long.
00:02:46It was probably like less than three hours.
00:02:49I mean, that's it.
00:02:50It was a lot of fun.
00:02:51And Dana, am I correct?
00:02:52Where it was just supposed to be
00:02:53Deutsch doing the challenge,
00:02:54and then you just started drinking beers,
00:02:56and you're like,
00:02:57oh, why not?
00:02:58Like, let me just join.
00:02:59And then you're like, wait,
00:03:00I need my boy K-Dick.
00:03:01K-Dick?
00:03:02Yeah.
00:03:03We had a couple beverages.
00:03:04Nothing crazy.
00:03:05It was a lot of, you know,
00:03:06played some Jenga, played some-
00:03:07Silent chess?
00:03:08Some cornhole, some silent chess.
00:03:09You all played chess?
00:03:10But we couldn't talk.
00:03:11I don't know how to play,
00:03:12so I was just like hitting everything,
00:03:14and then they were like,
00:03:15no, you can't do that.
00:03:16Oh, man, I gotta see this.
00:03:17It was hilarious.
00:03:18It was so much fun.
00:03:19All right, so let's,
00:03:20but before we get into this though,
00:03:22K-Dick, you're making your triumphant return
00:03:24to the show.
00:03:25Yes.
00:03:26We talked to you last time on Wake Up Bar,
00:03:28so we talked to you Tuesday morning.
00:03:30You had slept three hours
00:03:32in the past 48 hours.
00:03:34Mm-hmm.
00:03:35You had multiple trips to Club 11.
00:03:36Yeah.
00:03:37You had the best bacon of your life.
00:03:39Yeah.
00:03:40You'd been partying on a Miami yacht,
00:03:42and it all culminated in a national championship.
00:03:45Yeah.
00:03:46How are we feeling here a week out?
00:03:48I'm still like in this weird haze
00:03:51of still trying to catch up on sleep,
00:03:54and then while also getting rid of this hangover
00:03:57that I've had for like a week now,
00:03:59it feels like.
00:04:00But it's the greatest.
00:04:02I wouldn't change it for the world.
00:04:03It is amazing.
00:04:04Hell yeah, man.
00:04:05And we'll talk to national champion Pat Coogan
00:04:08a bit later in the show as well.
00:04:10We're going to go in the film room with him,
00:04:11also just break down what his trip's been like.
00:04:13Fernando Mendoza was on Fallon last night.
00:04:15Yeah.
00:04:16He was fantastic.
00:04:17And so we get Coogan.
00:04:18Yeah.
00:04:19Who just declared for the draft?
00:04:21Mendoza?
00:04:22Oh, okay.
00:04:23Yeah.
00:04:24Producer told me he just declared.
00:04:25I guess I took that to be a...
00:04:27Rose Bowl MVP.
00:04:28Yeah.
00:04:29Oh, yeah.
00:04:30True.
00:04:31Rose Bowl MVP Pat Coogan.
00:04:32Yep.
00:04:33Shout out to the Rose Bowl.
00:04:34They do things the right way over there,
00:04:35giving the O-line MVP.
00:04:36All right, Dana.
00:04:37Let's dive into the AFC Championship game, baby.
00:04:39Let's do it.
00:04:40Patriots, Broncos.
00:04:43And this is one where I think we almost have to start here.
00:04:49It is more likely than not that the Patriots should win this game.
00:04:54Yep.
00:04:55I mean, it's Jared Stidham, right?
00:04:56He's taken 18 snaps over the past two years.
00:04:59They've all been in garbage time.
00:05:00I know.
00:05:01Hell of a challenge for Stidham.
00:05:03Hey, now here you are in the AFC Championship.
00:05:05Why don't you walk in and face a Patriots defense
00:05:07that has maybe been the most under-talked-about group
00:05:11entering this playoffs?
00:05:12Yep.
00:05:13And yet has been completely fantastic the first two weeks.
00:05:15Listen, I've seen a couple of these Stidham games as a Patriot fan.
00:05:20We went through a Bailey Zappi phase.
00:05:22Yep.
00:05:23We went through a Jared Stidham phase.
00:05:24We went through a Jacoby Percet phase.
00:05:26He did nothing that impressed me.
00:05:29So, I'm not just saying this as a homer.
00:05:32I'm not just saying this as somebody who lives and dies with the Pats.
00:05:36Seeing him play quarterback for the Patriots for a couple years,
00:05:39or just for a couple games, nothing stood out to me.
00:05:43So, to be put in this situation,
00:05:46in probably the most pressure-packed situation you can get
00:05:49as a backup quarterback, the Patriots have to win this game.
00:05:52And I understand the defense for the Broncos is all-world,
00:05:56but you look on the other side of the ball for the Pats,
00:05:59they're, you know, just like you said, extremely underrated.
00:06:02So, they should win this game.
00:06:06The Patriots defense is interesting to me because, again, entering the playoffs,
00:06:09they were kind of the least talked about defense,
00:06:11even though statistically they were pretty good.
00:06:13And even here in the playoffs, they haven't been talked about it a ton.
00:06:16And the reason to understand it's not hard.
00:06:18Or it's not hard to understand it.
00:06:19Why?
00:06:20It's because of Drake May, right?
00:06:21Yeah.
00:06:22The Drake May storyline, the Tom Brady parallels.
00:06:25They're so overwhelming and they're such good conversation fodder
00:06:29that they almost have a gravitational pull.
00:06:31But you look at the Patriots defense,
00:06:33nine sacks and six takeaways in the two games.
00:06:37Wow.
00:06:38And that's what Stidham now has to square up with.
00:06:40But, Mikey, I'll say this, and this is a key difference for Stidham.
00:06:44This Broncos offensive line?
00:06:46Very good.
00:06:47Significantly better than what the Pats had the last couple of weeks.
00:06:50Chargers are the worst in the league.
00:06:52Texans are one of the worst in the league.
00:06:54Jared Stidham should be much better protected with this Broncos front.
00:06:58Yeah.
00:06:59100%.
00:07:00And I was very impressed by the offensive line
00:07:02when we watched them in person last week
00:07:04because we were kind of sitting in the end zone,
00:07:06so we could see kind of a lot.
00:07:08And I was very impressed.
00:07:09I think Quinn Miners is one of the better guards in the league.
00:07:12Yeah, he's incredible.
00:07:13And his leadership, you could tell, he's a mauler out there.
00:07:17So, I'm excited to see the matchup.
00:07:19That place is going to be rocking.
00:07:20Me and Kadic will be there again.
00:07:21Yeah.
00:07:22And, I mean, they have some extremely passionate fans.
00:07:25Very loud fans.
00:07:26That place was loud when we were there last week.
00:07:28So...
00:07:29And the floorboards, like, go up and down.
00:07:30Yeah, it was going.
00:07:31Like, bounce up and down.
00:07:32It was bouncing.
00:07:33But I expect this to be a very, very intense environment there in Denver.
00:07:36But the Patriots have to get this done, man.
00:07:39And I know all the Patriots fans, we're blessed.
00:07:44We are so blessed to have had what we've had for so long.
00:07:47Yeah.
00:07:48We don't deserve this.
00:07:49But, what a story it would be for Drake May in his second year to take the boys to the Super Bowl.
00:07:55Just like Tom Brady.
00:07:56As we said, too, the other day, I think Tom Brady's first five playoff wins, the Patriots' defense never gave up more than 17.
00:08:03Obviously, they're now two games in to matching that same metric under Drake May.
00:08:08The parallels are crazy.
00:08:10Now, y'all were, like you said, y'all were boots on the ground in mile high.
00:08:13Because, again, if you look at it from the Patriots' perspective, the path to winning is easy.
00:08:18It's an elite defense against Jared Stidham, a backup quarterback that hasn't played.
00:08:21And it's Drake May, the potential NFL MVP offensively, right?
00:08:26Yeah.
00:08:27So, again, if we start to form the argument for the Broncos, we start with the offensive line, being better than that of the last two opponents.
00:08:32Maybe Stidham gets there.
00:08:33And then we actually stay with the offensive line, but from a flip perspective.
00:08:38Because that's been maybe one of the flaws in New England thus far through these first two games is Drake May's gotten touched up.
00:08:45He's gotten touched up quite a bit.
00:08:47How many fumbles is it, I believe, for May here?
00:08:50Let's see.
00:08:51Drake May, he's fumbled six times.
00:08:54He's been sacked ten times.
00:08:57He's been pressured on 40% of his dropbacks.
00:09:01Will Campbell alone has given up three sacks, two strip sacks, and now, this is where I want to bring in the mile-high discussion,
00:09:09and now they're going into Denver where they're going to have to be going on silent.
00:09:13Major advantage for Benito and a Denver Broncos pass rush that was statistically, by far, the most productive in the entire NFL this year.
00:09:24Like, the Patriots won't be able to go.
00:09:26They'll have to go on silent.
00:09:27Yeah, 100%.
00:09:28Yeah.
00:09:29Can you explain that to me?
00:09:30Silent count?
00:09:31So, when the stadium's very loud, the right guard or left guard, whichever they prefer.
00:09:36Center's making his calls, but he's looking out of his peripheral to his guard.
00:09:41Guard's looking back at the quarterback.
00:09:43Quarterback will give a signal, either a leg up or a hand down.
00:09:46That guard will then signal to the center, either a tap or a hand out, that he's ready.
00:09:52The quarterback's ready.
00:09:53The center will look down, look up, snap the ball.
00:09:55And then...
00:09:56No.
00:09:57No.
00:09:58No.
00:09:59Nothing.
00:10:00Unless you're under center.
00:10:01Under center, they can hear you.
00:10:02Okay.
00:10:03But in the shotgun and anything like that, you gotta go silent.
00:10:05Interesting.
00:10:06Kate, explain to Dana the advantages that are created for the defensive line when you have
00:10:13to go on silent.
00:10:14So, you can start timing up there, the centers.
00:10:16Because a lot of...
00:10:17I mean, in college, a lot of it's just on one.
00:10:19Yeah.
00:10:20Like, just boom, boom.
00:10:21But in the NFL, they kind of have more advanced snap counts, things like that.
00:10:25So, the center will sometimes go on two.
00:10:27But then, you know, you can time up when the center, you know, is bringing his head down.
00:10:32And that's when you know...
00:10:33The jump.
00:10:34Yeah.
00:10:35So, you can get a better jump.
00:10:36And with his pass rush against, you know, the struggling Patriots offensive line, it's
00:10:39gonna give him any advantage to have.
00:10:41Okay.
00:10:42Hey.
00:10:43Protect that man at all costs, Will Campbell.
00:10:44You said you would do it when you got drafted.
00:10:46True.
00:10:47This is the time to do it.
00:10:48Put his life on the line.
00:10:49This is the time to do it, right?
00:10:50Well, he'll put his life on the line, right?
00:10:52But we can all...
00:10:53You know, you can always give your top-tier effort.
00:10:55Yeah.
00:10:56But sometimes, the other guy is just better than you.
00:10:57Yeah.
00:10:58And that's a bad place to be and a very bad feeling.
00:11:00Yeah.
00:11:01Yes, T-Bob.
00:11:02It's demeaning.
00:11:03Have you felt that before, T-Bob?
00:11:05Yes.
00:11:06Nick Fairley.
00:11:07I remember him getting into my chest and my arms just flailing in the void of space,
00:11:14getting pushed into the backfield like a helpless toddler.
00:11:17T-Bob's little hands.
00:11:18The embrace of my...
00:11:19Hey!
00:11:20Those little hands.
00:11:21No, not little hands, Megan.
00:11:22Not little hands.
00:11:23Okay.
00:11:25Perfectly average nine-inch hands.
00:11:26Thank you very much.
00:11:27What's that?
00:11:28Little hands?
00:11:29I do not have little hands.
00:11:30Nine-inch hands.
00:11:31Okay.
00:11:32You know who else has nine-inch hands?
00:11:33Guys, could you make my hands look bigger, please?
00:11:34Maybe like some forced perspective here.
00:11:36You're stretching those out pretty well.
00:11:37Exactly.
00:11:38Yeah.
00:11:39See, look.
00:11:40Same size.
00:11:41Same size.
00:11:42His hands are closer to the camera, guys.
00:11:44That's not fair.
00:11:45You know who else has nine-inch hands?
00:11:47Joe Burrow.
00:11:48And he's pretty badass, isn't he?
00:11:49Okay.
00:11:50And he also likes Star Wars, so you guys could probably be really good friends.
00:11:54Also, Nine Inch Nails.
00:11:55Oh.
00:11:56That's a band.
00:11:57That is a band.
00:11:58Fun fact.
00:11:59That's a band.
00:12:00Funnily enough, Trent Reznor.
00:12:01Nine Inch Nails is kind of like a medley, kind of dark, almost Manson-esque band in some
00:12:05way.
00:12:06You like that?
00:12:07Trent Reznor went on to become one of the best composers of our time.
00:12:10Interesting.
00:12:11Did the Social Network music.
00:12:12Look at that.
00:12:13Did some of the music with Soul with John Baptiste.
00:12:15Dang.
00:12:16Meg.
00:12:17What?
00:12:18As one of our resident ball knowers here, your read on Patriots Broncos, obviously you're
00:12:20always approaching from a gambling perspective.
00:12:22I do.
00:12:23But what are you looking at here?
00:12:24Well, one, obviously I am really hoping that Sean Payton can do something with Jared
00:12:30Siddham and his team.
00:12:31Yep.
00:12:32I feel bad.
00:12:33You know, I was looking at the, what was it, Coach of the Year, not even like mentioned.
00:12:36This man could potentially win two Super Bowls with two different teams as we talked about
00:12:40on the show before.
00:12:42Obviously we are going to get into the gambling side, but I think this is going to be a really
00:12:46hard fought game.
00:12:47I think that the Patriots know that this is their game to lose essentially.
00:12:51Yep.
00:12:52And I think we're going to see a really, really hard fought game by the Broncos defense because
00:12:56basically they know that they're going to have to take a humongous step up here, which
00:13:00they've been playing great all year.
00:13:01Imagine if they take that one more step forward.
00:13:04Again, I think it's going to be a hard fought game and we can get to the pick in a little
00:13:08while.
00:13:09I don't want to spoil it.
00:13:10Yeah, don't spoil it yet.
00:13:11But yeah, that is the thing.
00:13:12Just envision the Super Bowl team up.
00:13:14You can't see Jared Siddham.
00:13:15No, you can't.
00:13:16You can't do it.
00:13:17No.
00:13:18You can't do it.
00:13:19I'm forcing myself to see Jared Siddham.
00:13:20You can't envision it.
00:13:21I love you Dana.
00:13:22You want the Patriots to win.
00:13:23You can't envision the pregame and the week leading up and one of the stories about Jared,
00:13:28you can envision it.
00:13:29It's not happening.
00:13:30So you're saying that, but I already saw it with Nick Foles.
00:13:32Well, yeah, I was just thinking that.
00:13:34I actually can envision it.
00:13:35I can envision it directly.
00:13:37Nick Foles was a winner of sorts before that Super Bowl.
00:13:41I get it.
00:13:42Kind of.
00:13:43It's not one-to-one.
00:13:44Like, Foles had starter success in the past, and he'd even played, you know, in the run-up
00:13:50to that.
00:13:51And funnily enough, he actually played terrible, and then he kind of found his form as he got
00:13:54a couple games in.
00:13:56Weird question since we brought up Nick Foles.
00:13:58Do we think, honestly, that he could step in that role?
00:14:02Do you think that might be a weird advantage in a weird way because, like, hey, the pressure's
00:14:07kind of off.
00:14:08Like, what am I supposed to do?
00:14:09Like, I wasn't here.
00:14:10I haven't won all these games.
00:14:11I can just go out there and leave it all on the field.
00:14:13Yeah.
00:14:14It's one of those, it's one of those, uh, advantage may be a complicated word because-
00:14:21Yeah.
00:14:22Not an advantage.
00:14:23Right?
00:14:24Like, it can't be advantage.
00:14:25You understand what I'm saying?
00:14:26But I do get what you're saying.
00:14:27Like, sometimes you have to convince yourselves of things.
00:14:28And if, yes, you're the Broncos, you're like, okay, we're just gonna send it.
00:14:31Let loose.
00:14:32Right?
00:14:33Like, Jared Stidham's got nothing to lose here.
00:14:34Like, he's not gonna be a starter anyway.
00:14:36All he has is everything to gain.
00:14:37Nobody's expecting him to win this game.
00:14:38Right.
00:14:39And if you're the Broncos defense, like you were talking about, like, that's been your
00:14:43identity all year long.
00:14:44You gotta step up.
00:14:45So, I think the Patriots win, to be clear.
00:14:47Kadek and I were at, um, a restaurant when the news broke and everyone was looking around,
00:14:52like, is this fake?
00:14:53Everyone kept asking, is this fake accounts?
00:14:54At bomb shows?
00:14:55Yeah.
00:14:56Oh man, you could just feel it spread.
00:14:57Oh, it was like-
00:14:58We were there when it happened.
00:14:59It was sad.
00:15:00And everyone was like-
00:15:01They were like, they were like, that's not true, is it?
00:15:03That's not true.
00:15:04That can't be true.
00:15:05This has to be a fake account.
00:15:06That can't be true.
00:15:07He didn't ever went down.
00:15:08That can't be true.
00:15:09Yeah, so-
00:15:10I mean, that is true.
00:15:11It is, like, the most weird and disappointed way to get injury news ever.
00:15:14Oh, yeah.
00:15:15Nobody saw him get hurt and then immediately after the game, you're like, oh, I-
00:15:17Oh, well, he broke his ankle.
00:15:19Yeah, like our quarterback.
00:15:20Sad day, bad day.
00:15:21Okay.
00:15:22Uh, remember guys, hashtag AskWub on Twitter.
00:15:24You can ask us anything.
00:15:25We'll answer at the end of the show.
00:15:26We also have Pat Coogan.
00:15:27So, if you want to get the questions here, but we have an early one here from Samuel Lopez
00:15:32Barton.
00:15:33Uh, Samuel says, what's the best restaurant to take visiting family to in the French Quarter?
00:15:38And who can eat the most jambalaya, T-Bob, Mikey, or Dana?
00:15:42I love jambalaya.
00:15:43I've never eaten jambalaya at a large quantity.
00:15:47Wait, didn't you not try the one I made in the office?
00:15:49No, no, no.
00:15:50I've said I've had jambalaya, but I haven't had it, like, I haven't tried to eat as much
00:15:53as I can, you know?
00:15:54I mean, I think that, hmm.
00:15:56The rice can really fill you up.
00:15:58Yes.
00:15:59Eating a ton of jambalaya is hard.
00:16:00I've done it plenty.
00:16:01It wrecks your stomach for days.
00:16:03Um, I used to get a bucket of jambalaya from jambalaya shop and just-
00:16:06Oh, I do want the jambalaya shop.
00:16:07Eat it for, like, three days straight, dude.
00:16:09Yeah, just solid, quick, and dirty.
00:16:11Um, I think, I think Mikey may have me beat right now.
00:16:15Can Dana out-eat you?
00:16:16No.
00:16:17I think I'm the king.
00:16:19Katie's the king right now.
00:16:20Uh, as far as restaurants go, again, I want to preface this with, I have not lived in New
00:16:24Orleans in years.
00:16:25The culinary scene is always changing there.
00:16:27It's changing so much.
00:16:28Constantly.
00:16:29So, at risk of being wrong, I'm gonna go with a classic.
00:16:32I don't think you can get a more traditional New Orleans fine dining experience than Commander's
00:16:37Palace.
00:16:38Commander's Palace is fun.
00:16:39And I think that they've, like, revamped some stuff there recently.
00:16:41Yeah.
00:16:42It's a little bit more, like, new to-
00:16:44Oh, really?
00:16:45Hip to times, I believe.
00:16:46Interesting.
00:16:47I mean, I don't think they've changed a lot, but I think they might have.
00:16:49It sounds delectable.
00:16:50It does.
00:16:51They bring you these hats at the table.
00:16:52It sounds quite delectable.
00:16:53Indeed.
00:16:54Have you ever had turtle soup?
00:16:55No.
00:16:56Have you ever had raccoon stew?
00:16:58No.
00:16:59Okay, that's just disrespectful.
00:17:00That's not funny.
00:17:01Turtle soup is actually nice.
00:17:02Turtle soup is actually very nice and very good.
00:17:04It's fancy.
00:17:05So is coon stew.
00:17:06I don't believe it.
00:17:07Coon stew.
00:17:08All right, guys.
00:17:09So, we talk about the AFC.
00:17:10When we get back, let's talk about a little NFC Championship.
00:17:13We've got plenty more Wub coming up here on the 100th episode.
00:17:16Tweet at us.
00:17:17Hashtag us Wub.
00:17:18How would you like the show?
00:17:19More Wake Up coming up next.
00:17:21Let's go, baby.
00:17:26That's right.
00:17:27Football season here coming to an end.
00:17:30We got conference championships this week and we looked at the AFC side of the equation.
00:17:34Again, one that more likely than not, the Patriots find their way back.
00:17:38Now we go to the NFC.
00:17:40Some are calling this a Super Bowl by proxy with Ram Seahawks.
00:17:46The rubber match part, I was going to say part two, part try, part three, part three.
00:17:51Part three.
00:17:52There you go.
00:17:53Part trois.
00:17:54Part trois.
00:17:55Part trois.
00:17:56A rubber match is the third game, correct?
00:17:58Yes, always the third game.
00:17:59So you were right about rubber match.
00:18:00Or maybe it's like the deciding game.
00:18:01It doesn't matter.
00:18:02It doesn't matter.
00:18:03It's a deciding match.
00:18:04The rubber match is a deciding match.
00:18:05That's what this is.
00:18:07And I'm going to start with a question of the group here, guys.
00:18:09Who do you trust more in this?
00:18:11Matt Stafford or the Seahawks' very good defense?
00:18:14Seahawks, they're just steaming hot right now.
00:18:18Yeah.
00:18:19I just love them.
00:18:20I thought you were going to go, who do you trust more, Matt Stafford or Sam Darnold?
00:18:22And my answer was going to be very obvious, Matt Stafford.
00:18:25Yes.
00:18:26But that defense is so darn good.
00:18:29They're so darn good.
00:18:31They got dogs on that defense.
00:18:34No, so to your point about being red hot right now, Seahawks winners of eight in a row.
00:18:40The last four wins have come over NFC playoff teams.
00:18:43They dominated the Niners twice in that stretch.
00:18:47One of the better teams in the entirety of the NFL.
00:18:49And this is what's kind of interesting to me.
00:18:52Is that because of the quarterback matchup, a lot of people going Rams here as well as playoff history and Sean McVay and whatnot.
00:19:00And I guess what's surprising there, like I said, Seahawks winners of eight in a row, the Rams five and three in that same time going on the road to Seattle.
00:19:10One of, I mean, right there behind Arrowhead as probably the loudest and craziest place to have to go on the road in the entire NFL.
00:19:18And so it kind of speaks to how people view Stafford versus Darnold that this is not overwhelmingly Seahawks.
00:19:25So whenever you ask that question, my first thought was going back to last week, do I trust Josh Allen more or do I trust the Broncos defense more?
00:19:34Yeah.
00:19:35So it's like at that point you go back and you look, obviously the Broncos have advanced, the Bills have not.
00:19:40Matt Stafford has been here. Yeah, you can trust him. He's a veteran.
00:19:43But at the same time, you can't put the whole team on your back and expect to win.
00:19:49I agree with you. I'm just, I'm trusting the Seahawks here.
00:19:53I mean, the fact that Sam Darnold threw four picks in the first game and they were a few yards away from having a very makeable field goal.
00:20:01They missed a field goal, but it was like 65 or whatever, like a few yards away from makeable field goal.
00:20:06And then in game number two, threw the two picks and yet still found a way to come back and win that game.
00:20:12I feel like the Seahawks have just continued to ascend, whereas the Rams have kind of started to tread water a bit.
00:20:19Yeah, I think it's clear here. I think Seattle is the pick.
00:20:23They've been the best team all year long. I think you just got to roll with that.
00:20:26I do not see Los Angeles going into that stadium and coming out of the way.
00:20:30And I would love to see Sam Darnold in the Super Bowl.
00:20:33He seems like such an awesome dude and he's been slinging the ball.
00:20:36He's been having a great year.
00:20:38And then what happened last year with the Vikings where he just had a horrible ending.
00:20:43It'd be such a nice story to see him get to the big game.
00:20:46I agree. My picks are going to come down to which quarterback I'd rather sling some beers with.
00:20:51That's a tough question though.
00:20:54I'd rather sling some beers with Sam Darnold.
00:20:56Are you saying Darnold over Stafford though?
00:20:59Bro, Darnold kind of seems nerdy, bro. Stafford used to be a dog at UGA.
00:21:03I know. I know. Fat Stafford.
00:21:05And him and his wife seem like a lot of fun.
00:21:07Yep.
00:21:08They seem like they get down.
00:21:09Shout out Kelly.
00:21:11Kelly?
00:21:12Tough question.
00:21:13She was a badass basketball player at our, we're the same age.
00:21:17So she was a badass basketball player at our arch rival school Wesleyan.
00:21:21Bunch of stuck up pricks.
00:21:23Hey.
00:21:24Hey.
00:21:25Nice.
00:21:26Shout out GAC.
00:21:27But anyway, no.
00:21:28I think the beer answer I think is actually Stafford, dude.
00:21:33Dude.
00:21:34I don't know. I watched some videos of Darnold playing golf and he seems like a great guy.
00:21:38He does.
00:21:39Really?
00:21:40A guy that you could have 25 transfusions or like 25 beers with on the golf course and
00:21:45just crack jokes the whole time.
00:21:47Allegedly, Stafford, there's this, I think it's called Boar's Head, this old, and Athens
00:21:50got a bunch of great bars, but when he was at his prime in college they would just like
00:21:55rope off the basement and he'd have an entire corner for him and the boys.
00:21:58Like the, like the meats?
00:22:00Uh, I, I, same name, but I don't think, I don't think it's, yeah, I don't think it's
00:22:04the headquarters.
00:22:05Imagine that, a bar that, a bar with deli meats.
00:22:07Dana goes right to the deli counter.
00:22:10I'd go there right now.
00:22:12I would leave the show to go to a deli, a bar that has a deli in it.
00:22:16I'm so hungry.
00:22:17So we mentioned the Seahawks beating four playoff teams in a row.
00:22:20One of the key statistics in how they've been able to accomplish that, they're averaging
00:22:24172 rush yards a game.
00:22:27Yeah.
00:22:28They're looking for things to watch out for, like, okay, how do you, if you're worried
00:22:31about Sam Darnold, if you're a Seahawks fan, how do you make sure he doesn't decide it?
00:22:35Well, you take the game out of his hands.
00:22:37And running the ball is a great way to do that.
00:22:39That said, no Charbonnet, he's hurt.
00:22:41Kenneth Walker has to step up.
00:22:43He does.
00:22:44This week.
00:22:45I think he will.
00:22:46What do you see out of this offensive line, Cade?
00:22:47A couple dogs out there?
00:22:49Yeah, I think their left tackle Pierce, I think that's his name.
00:22:52Dog.
00:22:53Dog.
00:22:54He wears those big, that big cowboy.
00:22:55I love that.
00:22:56Dog.
00:22:57I love that guy coming at you.
00:22:58Your tight ends also, I know I'm biased here, but shout out AJ Barner.
00:23:01Great blocking tight end.
00:23:02Yep.
00:23:0381, I forget his name, but great blocking tight end.
00:23:06Great blocking receivers?
00:23:07I don't know.
00:23:08Yeah, they got a very, just an all-around team for sure, the Seahawks.
00:23:12Yeah.
00:23:13I think this is going to be a really close game.
00:23:15And you're right.
00:23:16I think this home field advantage really might be the deciding factor here.
00:23:19Yeah.
00:23:20Being in that hostile environment.
00:23:21But I think this is going to be an awesome, awesome game.
00:23:23I just can't wait for Sunday.
00:23:25I mean, it's again, and when the Seahawks defense and the Rams offense are on the field, you
00:23:32are probably getting, not probably, I would say, you're almost objectively getting the
00:23:38best unit on unit boxing match that you can get in the entire NFL.
00:23:44Yep.
00:23:45And I mean, both in terms of personnel, when you look like Iman Wari, and then you got
00:23:48like, on the other side, you got like Nakua and Devontae and everybody.
00:23:52Yeah.
00:23:53So, not just from a personnel standpoint, but like we talked about with Baldy yesterday,
00:23:57scheme as well.
00:23:58I mean, McDonald is the defensive McVay.
00:24:01Like, these are the best two schemers, offensive and defensively, going toe-to-toe.
00:24:06We always talk about the chess match of football.
00:24:08This is, you know, this is Magnus and Hikaru squaring up with one another, only with some
00:24:15of their pieces also being the best players in the entire NFL.
00:24:18Wow.
00:24:19This is like Kadic Deutsch last night in chess.
00:24:21Yeah.
00:24:22It's just something.
00:24:23Kadic Deutsch played chess may have been the dumbest chess match that has ever taken
00:24:29place on the internet.
00:24:30But it was a barn burner.
00:24:31But it was a barn burner.
00:24:32Who won?
00:24:33They did.
00:24:34Not us.
00:24:35I don't know what to do.
00:24:36We were on the same team.
00:24:37What pieces meant?
00:24:38I don't know.
00:24:39We weren't allowed to talk.
00:24:40Yeah.
00:24:41So, yeah, speaking of going on silent, how did you move the pieces if you didn't, if
00:24:45you couldn't talk?
00:24:46So Ryan was there and I was just like, pick up a piece and be like...
00:24:50He'd be like, no, yes.
00:24:51I'd be like, okay.
00:24:52It sounds exceedingly dumb.
00:24:54And again, we talked about silent count and everything in the Broncos game.
00:24:58Like, that carries over to this Seattle game as well.
00:25:04Now, speaking of defense, guys, some massive news in the NFL as one of the remaining massive...
00:25:10I hate double using words.
00:25:11You got it.
00:25:12One of the remaining big openings has been filled.
00:25:14The Baltimore Ravens hired Chargers defense coordinator Jesse Minter to be their head coach.
00:25:18What a rise for Minter.
00:25:19Yeah.
00:25:20I mean, just a little over half a decade ago, becomes DC at Michigan, has the great four-year
00:25:27run there, goes with Harbaugh to the Chargers, and now he walks into a Baltimore organization
00:25:34that has an MVP-level quarterback, has a ton of talent on defense.
00:25:39Remember, that's probably why they hired him.
00:25:40They were so disappointed this year.
00:25:42They put so much money on that defense, it did not pay dividends.
00:25:45So he gets personnel on that side of the ball.
00:25:47He gets to Mark Jackson.
00:25:48He gets a stable ownership group and franchise.
00:25:51Like, shout out Jesse Minter.
00:25:52This is fantastic.
00:25:53Yeah.
00:25:54And do you think Jim Harbaugh is a little like, you're replacing my brother kind of thing,
00:25:58or happy for him?
00:26:00Oh, I didn't even think about that.
00:26:01Yeah.
00:26:02Yeah, yeah.
00:26:03Replacing his brother.
00:26:04Yeah, so leaving one Harbaugh to replace the other.
00:26:06Yeah.
00:26:07Very interesting.
00:26:08I mean, I think it's just so crazy seeing these long-time coaches.
00:26:14They're not going to be in the NFL next year.
00:26:16It's just, it's insane to think that we're not going to have Harbaugh on the Ravens.
00:26:21We're not going to have Tomlin on the Steelers.
00:26:23We're not going to have McDermott on the Bills.
00:26:26But you need some fresh scenery.
00:26:29Is that what they say?
00:26:30Scenery?
00:26:31A fresh start?
00:26:32Fresh start?
00:26:33Clean slate?
00:26:34Something with scenery.
00:26:35Something with scenery.
00:26:36Change of scenery.
00:26:37Change of scenery.
00:26:38Change of scenery.
00:26:39Change of scenery.
00:26:40When things get stale, you need a little change of scenery.
00:26:41I don't know if the Bills should have, you know, that's a whole different conversation.
00:26:45But I think the Ravens definitely were getting a little stale there with Harbaugh.
00:26:48So it's nice to have a nice.
00:26:50Change of scenery.
00:26:51Fresh start.
00:26:52Clean slate.
00:26:53Yeah.
00:26:54Now, I mean, I'm glad that you point out the Bills there.
00:26:57Because I do view these firings a bit differently.
00:26:59Where Bishotti was very upfront about the Harbaugh decision was made a while ago.
00:27:03Even if they would have made the playoffs, just would have delayed it by a week.
00:27:06I think they're Steelers very much in the same boat.
00:27:10After Bergoulo's press conference, like the Bills just seemed so reactive.
00:27:14Yeah.
00:27:15But I like the men are hiring.
00:27:17I think we've seen a current year in football where defense and kind of defensive minds
00:27:24have started to punch back against the offense a bit and lead to a lot of success.
00:27:28Who would you go with for OC?
00:27:30Or how important is the OC hire, do you think, for men or with Lamar Jackson?
00:27:34Hmm.
00:27:35Very important.
00:27:36Yeah.
00:27:37I mean, Lamar is the whole offense.
00:27:39Yeah.
00:27:40Obviously, you have Derrick Henry too, but Lamar just is the engine of that offense.
00:27:45You need old school Lamar.
00:27:47And you need an offensive coordinator that will fit that style.
00:27:50I don't know what the answer is.
00:27:51I honestly, I'm trying to think of like someone off the top of my head.
00:27:56Well, I mean, like do you go back to like a Greg Roman or something?
00:27:59Do you go to try and get one of the young Wunderkins?
00:28:03Wunderkins like, you know, the name Schielhaas is the guy that keeps popping up.
00:28:09There's probably, and you know, Minter probably has some ideas on some guys that we're not
00:28:13even fully aware of.
00:28:14But you even look at, you know, even look at the Patriots.
00:28:16They went back to Josh McDaniels and he's not some Wunderkind.
00:28:20Was that how you say it?
00:28:21Wunderkind?
00:28:22Yeah, Wunderkind.
00:28:23That was good, Dana.
00:28:24Yeah, I don't think you need a Wunderkind.
00:28:26Yeah.
00:28:27I think you can really go with some of these old school guys and really make it work.
00:28:31But I don't know if you can find a Sean McVay in the rough somewhere.
00:28:35Obviously, that's the answer.
00:28:36But it feels like they don't grow on Cherise.
00:28:40No, I mean, they definitely don't.
00:28:42But I think I think this Minter hire for as concerning as it was starting to maybe like
00:28:48there was a bit of irony in all these coaching cycle where the Ravens and the Steelers got
00:28:54rid of two of the candidates that were most attractive on the market.
00:28:59Now, we know that Tomlin's not going to go anywhere, but it's like, OK, who are you going
00:29:02to replace him with when everybody else has been snatched up?
00:29:04I think the Minter hire potentially a very good one.
00:29:07Yep.
00:29:08And now the Chargers going to be looking for a coordinator.
00:29:10All right.
00:29:11We have our NFL MVP finalists here, guys.
00:29:14Last thing before we get to Dana coming up next.
00:29:16Josh Allen, Trevor Lawrence, Chris McCaffrey, Matt Stafford, and Drake May.
00:29:21Dana, who should be MVP?
00:29:24Stafford's favorite.
00:29:26Stafford's favorite.
00:29:27You really put me on the spot here, man.
00:29:29But the answer is Drake May.
00:29:30Look what he's done to this team.
00:29:32In his second year as a pro, he's taken this team to 16 wins and on the brink of a Super
00:29:40Bowl.
00:29:41He's completely transformed this offense with the help of Mike Vrabel.
00:29:45He's completely transformed this entire team.
00:29:48Matt Stafford, you love, you're probably the coolest guy ever, but you love padding your stats.
00:29:55Drake May doesn't need Puka Nakua.
00:29:57He's throwing to Stephon Diggs and Mac Hollins, all due respect.
00:30:01He doesn't have the weapons you have.
00:30:02That's true.
00:30:03He does not have the weapons.
00:30:04He does not have the weapons you have.
00:30:05And he's won 16 games, and he's right there pretty much on the stats.
00:30:09You are padding your stats, Matthew, and I don't like it.
00:30:13Drake May.
00:30:14What is he at?
00:30:15Plus something?
00:30:16I don't know.
00:30:17What are...
00:30:18Let me go look at the odds.
00:30:19Hold on one second.
00:30:20Go check him out.
00:30:21I'm going Stafford.
00:30:22I can't have Drake May get MVP or two.
00:30:23Come on.
00:30:24It's too powerful.
00:30:25I'll ride with my boy.
00:30:26Please.
00:30:27I'll ride with my boy.
00:30:28I'll ride with my boy.
00:30:29Looks like the voting's closed, so let me go back and find the odds before.
00:30:31Okay.
00:30:32Yeah, no, I can't.
00:30:33I can't.
00:30:34Please.
00:30:35I got to go Stafford.
00:30:36Come on, D-Bomb.
00:30:37No way, dude.
00:30:38Why?
00:30:39What in the world did the Patriots fund have a new two MVP candidate quarterback?
00:30:43I like the cut of his jib.
00:30:44That's all I'll say, man.
00:30:45Mmm.
00:30:46So...
00:30:47Do you actually...
00:30:48Do you actually like the cut of his jib?
00:30:50I just really like that phrase.
00:30:51Who would you rather drink beers with?
00:30:53Matt Stafford or Drake May?
00:30:54Last thing I saw was that Drake May was close to like plus 350 and Matt Stafford was minus
00:30:59450.
00:31:00Oh, yeah.
00:31:01That was probably the last game of the season.
00:31:03Cooked.
00:31:04Yeah.
00:31:05Who would you rather have beers with?
00:31:06I think Stafford.
00:31:07Yeah, me too.
00:31:08Unfortunately.
00:31:09Stafford undefeated in the beer run today.
00:31:11Drake May seems more cleaned up.
00:31:13I said Darnold.
00:31:14He seems a little more clean.
00:31:15To be fair, you could drink beers with Stafford and then talk a little mess to him about
00:31:19the stat padding and see, you know, just go like boy to boy back and forth.
00:31:22Yeah.
00:31:23You think Josh Allen's fun to drink beers with?
00:31:25100%.
00:31:26Yes, dude.
00:31:27100%.
00:31:28Christian McCaffrey's definitely not because we know that Ed McCaffrey...
00:31:30Josh Allen would be number one on this list.
00:31:31Ed McCaffrey raised him like a freak.
00:31:33Trevor Lawrence seems like he doesn't drink beer at all.
00:31:35No.
00:31:36He seems like a white wine guy.
00:31:38Yeah.
00:31:39That's cool that Trevor Lawrence is top five though.
00:31:41I mean...
00:31:42That's true.
00:31:43That's a good point.
00:31:44Shout out Christian McCaffrey for breaking through what has ostensibly become a just pure
00:31:48quarterback award.
00:31:49How about just shout out Christian McCaffrey in general?
00:31:51Yeah.
00:31:52I mean, the man's just a workhorse.
00:31:53He's been around forever and he's just still...
00:31:55Look at him.
00:31:56He's still here.
00:31:57Stud.
00:31:58God, crutch ballers.
00:31:5950 knee injuries, 50 back injuries, whatever.
00:32:01He's still rolling.
00:32:02I know.
00:32:03That's a funny thing we do where we always love to pile on these guys when somebody struggles
00:32:08with injuries and then they get hurt.
00:32:10But I haven't heard a ton of people giving Christian McCaffrey his flowers for having
00:32:13a fully healthy year.
00:32:14Yeah.
00:32:15Where to your point, they used every single ounce of what he could give.
00:32:19Shout out Christian.
00:32:20Shout out.
00:32:21All right.
00:32:22Guys, it's time for Dana to take us to basketball school.
00:32:26Plus, we got a little smash or pass episode of 100 here on this negative temperature day
00:32:32in Chicago.
00:32:33Roll right along.
00:32:34This is Wake Up Barstool.
00:32:35What's happening, guys?
00:32:42Welcome back to Wake Up Barstool here on FS1.
00:32:45It is our 100th show.
00:32:47Whoop, whoop.
00:32:48Hence, everybody dressing up in their Sunday finest here.
00:32:52Formalware, T-Bob Aber, Michael Koenig, Dana Beers, and Megan making money.
00:32:57We are such hot kids, man.
00:33:00I somehow got even more orange.
00:33:02Oh my God, dude.
00:33:03Oh, dude.
00:33:04Well, look, that's appropriate.
00:33:05Dana has a basketball in hand, okay?
00:33:06You know why?
00:33:07Because, unfortunately, football season about to be over.
00:33:10Basketball season coming down the pipe here, Dana.
00:33:14And as we start to transition our brains, right, we're playing catch up a bit, right?
00:33:20Absolutely.
00:33:21College, NBA, and you've put together, what, here, a list of teams that maybe we should
00:33:26start paying attention to as we get ready for NBA?
00:33:29I want to talk about three teams that you should start paying attention to before the
00:33:34All-Star break.
00:33:35Okay.
00:33:36Let's go to Dana.
00:33:37Because once the All-Star game happens, it's basketball season.
00:33:39Yep.
00:33:40Okay, I love football as much as the next guy, but we're going to have to start talking
00:33:44some ball.
00:33:45You're right.
00:33:46No, I agree.
00:33:47The Patriots should go ahead and end their season so you can start focusing on the Celtics.
00:33:50Yeah, I agree.
00:33:51It's a great call, Dana.
00:33:52It's Celtics, one, and a little bit below that is the Patriots for me, but let's talk some
00:33:57ball.
00:33:58On the screen here, the first team I want to talk about is, did I say the Pistons first?
00:34:03I believe?
00:34:04Yes, Pistons first.
00:34:05Okay.
00:34:06The Detroit Pistons.
00:34:07They are 8-2 in their last 10.
00:34:09They are first in the East, and it still feels like some people aren't talking about
00:34:14them.
00:34:15They're having an awesome season.
00:34:16Cade Cunningham is an All-Star starter, and Jalen Duren should be an All-Star as well.
00:34:22He's averaging like 20 and 12 or something.
00:34:24Yes, Cade, question.
00:34:25Weren't the Detroit Pistons like the worst team ever two years ago?
00:34:28Yes.
00:34:29Two years ago, I think they went on like a 20-game streak or something.
00:34:33Man.
00:34:34But it still feels like, because the East is so much worse than the West, they're still
00:34:40not getting their respect.
00:34:41So, they've been awesome all year.
00:34:43They've been awesome in their last 10 games.
00:34:45It kind of feels like they're not getting the respect they deserve.
00:34:48So, keep your eye on them.
00:34:49Cade Cunningham is an awesome point guard.
00:34:52He's always looking to dish the ball.
00:34:54They have shooters.
00:34:55They have depth.
00:34:56Keep your eye on the Detroit.
00:34:58Megan, why can't this be us?
00:35:00Why can't this be us?
00:35:01I mean, the Pelicans.
00:35:03Like, the Pistons were god-awful two years ago.
00:35:06In many ways, thanks to Joe Dumars.
00:35:09And then we hired Joe Dumars.
00:35:11We're now god-awful.
00:35:13And the Pistons are incredible.
00:35:15So, Louisiana as a state is going through an overhaul right now.
00:35:18It starts with LSU.
00:35:19Then we'll move on to the Saints with your guy.
00:35:22Yeah.
00:35:23Tyler Shuck.
00:35:24Behind quarterback.
00:35:25Whoa, whoa, whoa.
00:35:26Hold on now.
00:35:27Side note.
00:35:28Our guy.
00:35:29Yeah, our guy.
00:35:30But you love him.
00:35:31I am becoming a believer.
00:35:32Oh, my.
00:35:33Okay.
00:35:34I'm working on it.
00:35:35Okay.
00:35:36And then the Pelicans can revamp after that.
00:35:37I don't.
00:35:38Again.
00:35:39You got some guys.
00:35:40No, I like Queen.
00:35:41I like Fears.
00:35:42They don't win, Dana.
00:35:44They gotta trade Zion.
00:35:45Dana, we never win.
00:35:46They have to trade him.
00:35:47And he doesn't play.
00:35:48Because he doesn't play.
00:35:49It pains me to see the Pistons go from worst to first and the Pelicans are just meandering.
00:35:53Yeah.
00:35:54The reason you might be sitting at home being like, Dana, why is the first seed in the East?
00:35:58Why is that your team to watch?
00:35:59I'm telling you.
00:36:00In NBA circles, they're not getting all the respect they deserve.
00:36:03The old talk is the Celtics right now, which I love.
00:36:06The most efficient offense in the NBA.
00:36:08But it still feels like people are, they're like the Broncos.
00:36:11Are they for real?
00:36:12Are they for real?
00:36:13Yeah.
00:36:14I believe they're for real.
00:36:15I believe they're probably going to make the finals, if not the Knicks or the Celtics.
00:36:19So who's the number two team?
00:36:20I said we should have our eyes on.
00:36:21Let's talk about the Phoenix Suns.
00:36:24Phoenix Suns, best player?
00:36:26Kevin Durant.
00:36:27Close.
00:36:28He was on the team pretty recently.
00:36:31Ah!
00:36:32Devin Booker.
00:36:33Devin Booker.
00:36:34The Suns are 7-3 in their last 10.
00:36:36New coach, Jordan Ott.
00:36:38They had an awful last year.
00:36:39They got Bradley Beal.
00:36:41They finally got rid of that contract and now they're balling.
00:36:44They are playing well.
00:36:46Dylan Brooks.
00:36:47What do you know about Dylan Brooks, Kadic?
00:36:48He is a shooting guard from Duke, Oregon.
00:36:54Yeah.
00:36:55How'd you know that?
00:36:56A shooting guard from Oregon.
00:36:57How'd you know that?
00:36:586'5", about 242.
00:37:00Eh.
00:37:01Eh.
00:37:02Menace.
00:37:03You have to be a big boy to be 242 in the NBA.
00:37:05Oh, yeah.
00:37:06I forgot.
00:37:07I'm on football weights, you know.
00:37:09The Phoenix Suns are playing really well this year.
00:37:11They got Grayson Allen shooting the ball.
00:37:13This guy, Colin Gillespie, an undrafted player out of Villanova.
00:37:16He's lighting it up.
00:37:17They have depth.
00:37:18They have rookies.
00:37:19They got it all.
00:37:20How old is Colin Gillespie now?
00:37:22I think he's like 20.
00:37:23I feel like he's been playing forever.
00:37:25He's one of those guys that was in college forever.
00:37:27Forever.
00:37:28And now he's just playing.
00:37:30He's shooting the lights out.
00:37:31Do people like Grayson Allen yet, or is he still?
00:37:33Uh, no.
00:37:34Okay.
00:37:35Nobody will ever like Grayson.
00:37:36Okay, okay.
00:37:37I was just making sure that Grayson is still being Grayson.
00:37:39I think he's still tripping people.
00:37:40Let's get to the last one here.
00:37:42It is the Los Angeles Clippers.
00:37:44Clippers started horrible this year.
00:37:46I think they were 6-20 or something.
00:37:49Whoa!
00:37:508-2 in their last 10.
00:37:51As long as Kawhi Leonard is healthy, which he never is, they will be dogs in the West.
00:37:58James Harden.
00:37:59Guy doesn't age.
00:38:00He's 36 and he's still averaging about 20, I would say 25 points a game if I were to guess.
00:38:06This team is on the rise.
00:38:08They had an awful, awful start, but they are putting it all together.
00:38:11And that is my three teams team.
00:38:13Shout out Blake Griffin.
00:38:14Kawhi, Zion levels of doesn't play enough.
00:38:18Yeah.
00:38:19But...
00:38:20When he does, man.
00:38:21When he does, he's still like maybe the best in the entire world.
00:38:23He really is.
00:38:24And Harden, like I said, they got Zubac.
00:38:26You would love Zubac.
00:38:27Yeah?
00:38:28Oh, he's a big boy.
00:38:29He's like seven.
00:38:30Um, he's like...
00:38:31Seven?
00:38:32I'd probably say he...
00:38:33I would guess Croatian.
00:38:34Oh, yeah.
00:38:35He probably hammers.
00:38:36He hammers beers, yeah.
00:38:37Seven foot what?
00:38:38Seven foot.
00:38:39Dana, fun fact for you.
00:38:40I know you like fun facts.
00:38:41Devin Booker from Mississippi.
00:38:42Is he?
00:38:43Most point.
00:38:44Oh, hell yeah.
00:38:45I didn't know he was a Southern boy.
00:38:46I did not know that.
00:38:47All right.
00:38:48Coming up next, guys, we head into the money corner.
00:38:50Megan's been red hot these last few months.
00:38:53I'm just going to give you some more winners coming up on the other side of this break.
00:38:56We'll do smash or pass a bit later on in the show as well.
00:38:59It is icy out there today, but it's warm and full of good vibes in here.
00:39:05More Wake Up Barstool.
00:39:13What's happening?
00:39:14Welcome back to the 100th episode of Wake Up Barstool.
00:39:17That's right, Mom.
00:39:18We made it.
00:39:19Right now, though, it's time to go to our resident in-house mother, Megan Making Money,
00:39:24as we once again head into the money corner.
00:39:27Let's go, Megan.
00:39:28Make us a moolah, baby.
00:39:30I'm working on it.
00:39:31I'm working on it.
00:39:32Hold on.
00:39:33I have a phone call.
00:39:34Okay.
00:39:35I'm sorry.
00:39:36It's the money calling.
00:39:37It's the money calling.
00:39:39All right.
00:39:40We went three and one last week, obviously.
00:39:43We don't have very much football left, guys.
00:39:45First up, we're going to go to the Pats and the Broncos.
00:39:50I kind of explained this game earlier.
00:39:52We know one has Jared Stidham.
00:39:54One has Drake May.
00:39:56Both have fantastic defenses.
00:39:58As I said, I think the Pats know that this is their game to lose.
00:40:02Yup.
00:40:03And if they just advance, they go to the Super Bowl.
00:40:05So what I'm thinking is we're going to play the under 42 and a half.
00:40:09I think everyone's going to play pretty conservative.
00:40:12The Pats don't need to blow anybody out.
00:40:14Drake May doesn't want to get injured.
00:40:16No one should be wanting to get injured.
00:40:18So again, conservative play.
00:40:19Just beat Jared Stidham and low scoring game.
00:40:22A good point I had it considered.
00:40:24Because May's had so many fumbles, because you may not need a lot to win this game, you're
00:40:29right.
00:40:30The Patriots also, and being on the road, run games the best.
00:40:34The Patriots also being kind of influenced towards a more conservative approach here.
00:40:39Yes, sir.
00:40:40So yeah, the under 42 and a half.
00:40:42Great call back.
00:40:43Thank you, sir.
00:40:44Up next, we're going to go to the Patriots.
00:40:47Dana loves his Patriots.
00:40:49We're going to go back to the well here with my boy, Big Game Boutte.
00:40:54And that's 40 plus receiving yards.
00:40:56That's plus 115.
00:40:58He had three receptions last week and that cashed for us.
00:41:01And if you guys saw that last reception.
00:41:03The third catch.
00:41:04What a catch.
00:41:05Oh my gosh.
00:41:06Insert the squirt emoji.
00:41:07I just absolutely love him.
00:41:09And it does help that he's come from wide receiver U.
00:41:13Large dependable target.
00:41:15I think that him and Drake may have just been gelling so well right now that
00:41:18he's going to be able to get him the ball and Boutte is going to be able to get down the field.
00:41:2240 plus yards.
00:41:23Plus 115.
00:41:24I feel like Obi-Wan Kenobi Megan said that and I could hear the internet react.
00:41:29Well, I just like the little, you know, like the squirt gun.
00:41:32You know what I'm talking about?
00:41:33Man, all over the world.
00:41:35All right.
00:41:36Shout out Keyshawn Boutte.
00:41:37Lock in.
00:41:38Boutte, Boutte, Boutte.
00:41:39Rocking everywhere.
00:41:41Matt Stafford up next.
00:41:4224 plus completions.
00:41:44Plus 110.
00:41:45He had first, first game he had against the Seahawks.
00:41:49He had 15 completions.
00:41:50Second, he had 29.
00:41:52Again, I think he's going to need to a little dink and dunk here.
00:41:55Yep.
00:41:56And he's going to need some help because he's going to have a ton of pressure.
00:41:59So I think he, I think he gets bailed out quite a lot here with 24 plus completions.
00:42:05And last up on the docket, Mr. Dependable, as Dana said, he doesn't, his guy doesn't have a Puka Nakua.
00:42:14But who does?
00:42:15Matt Stafford.
00:42:16Puka Nakua any time.
00:42:18Touchdown.
00:42:19Plus 115.
00:42:20He didn't score one the first time when the Rams played the Seahawks, but he did score two in that second game.
00:42:26So he does know how to score against that defense and it's a pretty large game here.
00:42:31And Matt Stafford is going to need some help from his number one target in Puka Nakua.
00:42:37There you go.
00:42:38And those are the bets for the weekend.
00:42:40I love you guys.
00:42:41Let's go big.
00:42:42And let's make some money.
00:42:44Let's go.
00:42:45All right.
00:42:46It's time for some silent chess.
00:42:47We have footage from last night's stool after dark.
00:42:49Can I say something before we do that?
00:42:50Yeah.
00:42:51T-Bob, you look really handsome today.
00:42:52Yeah, you do.
00:42:53Thank you, dude.
00:42:54You look very kind.
00:42:55You really do.
00:42:56Your hair is flowing.
00:42:57You look good in the tux.
00:42:58Megan helped me do my hair.
00:42:59Hair tux.
00:43:00Yeah.
00:43:01Well, this is...
00:43:02Shout out the job.
00:43:03You know, you get sponsored.
00:43:04This is a custom tux.
00:43:05Nice.
00:43:06You look great.
00:43:07I've been thinking about it for the last two minutes.
00:43:09It's very kind.
00:43:10This is custom as well.
00:43:11You just gassed me up.
00:43:12All right.
00:43:13I want to see this sound chess clip real quick.
00:43:14We got to know.
00:43:15If you know me, I freaking love chess.
00:43:17Okay.
00:43:18Okay.
00:43:19So Dana spilled it.
00:43:20We were just dying.
00:43:21Nobody can talk here.
00:43:25What does the board look like here?
00:43:27Let me see.
00:43:28Ah, I can't.
00:43:29My eyes are so bad.
00:43:30No, T-Bob just wants to see the board so he can tell you guys what moves.
00:43:32Yeah, I'm trying to see the board stay here.
00:43:34I'm trying to see who's winning.
00:43:36Show off.
00:43:37It's like one of those things where you can't laugh in the serious situations, you know?
00:43:42So did anybody know how to play chess that was here?
00:43:45No.
00:43:46I know what the pieces do, but that's about it.
00:43:49Okay.
00:43:50I don't know.
00:43:51I don't even know what the pieces mean.
00:43:52Not really.
00:43:53Mikey, can you name all of the chess pieces?
00:43:55Horse.
00:43:56Okay.
00:43:57Yeah.
00:43:58Nevermind.
00:43:59King.
00:44:00Knight King.
00:44:01Bird Hour.
00:44:02Okay, there we go.
00:44:03Yeah.
00:44:04Palm Donna.
00:44:05Pond.
00:44:06All right, coming up next hour guys.
00:44:07We got Chris Felica as well as National Championship.
00:44:09Look who?
00:44:10Eh, Cougan.
00:44:11Don't go anywhere.
00:44:12More Wake Up Barstool 100 rolling along.
00:44:18Welcome back guys to the 100th episode of Wake Up Barstool.
00:44:23Okay. And who better to have on episode 100 than, I think, a man who has been on nine of these now?
00:44:30This is either visit nine or ten, and that's our guy, Chris Fliega, a.k.a. The Bear College Football Expert, noted Miami Hurricane Bear.
00:44:41What's happening, baby? How we doing?
00:44:43Let's just round it up and make it a nice, easy 10%.
00:44:46A nice 10% of the Wake Up Bar still there. Congratulations.
00:44:51Congratulations.
00:44:52Thank you so much, Bear. Thank you for, I mean, I know your schedule is just so crazy busy.
00:44:56You always make time for us, whether it's pre-cruise, post-cruise, early mornings, any time zones.
00:45:03You're the man. Now, as I said, though, you're also a Miami fan.
00:45:07Hell of a national championship. Hell of a year.
00:45:10I mean, by years in, Bear, would you agree with this?
00:45:12Like, Miami, objectively, I would say, clearly the second best team in the country.
00:45:17Oh, the two best teams in the country were in the championship game.
00:45:20And I think that's what people were forgetting.
00:45:24And that was part of my angst during the end of the season with the way Miami was playing and people were forgetting about the conversations that we were having earlier in the year.
00:45:33And it was a great title game.
00:45:36It was a game won on the margins.
00:45:38It was decided by four or five high leverage plays, each of which went Indiana's way.
00:45:44Yeah.
00:45:44And that was something that the Hoosiers capitalized on all year long, whether it was a third down or a fourth down or a bit.
00:45:50The biggest sequence of the game was the punt that Malachi Tony fielded on his own five, which, by the way, he had a throwback planned on the other side.
00:46:01Yeah. Did you see that?
00:46:02But the punt and the coverage was so perfect, you didn't have time to do it.
00:46:07And then the third down to Becker.
00:46:09So every big play went Indiana's way.
00:46:11And it was a hell of a game.
00:46:13And certainly no shame.
00:46:15I was disappointed.
00:46:16I was upset.
00:46:17But we had some therapeutic talking it out on some hits over the last couple of days.
00:46:21But congrats, Indiana.
00:46:23And certainly proud of the effort that Miami had in the game that they certainly could have won.
00:46:27Yeah, I think a 14% post-game win expectancy for Indiana Bear, kind of to your point about how the high leverage plays decided this one.
00:46:38To keep it with Miami for a second here, because we've got Coogan coming on, so we're going to talk plenty of Indiana.
00:46:43This feels like, in this moment, something that Miami should be able to build on.
00:46:49What do you think the blueprint going forward is to keep this momentum going?
00:46:55It's pretty much what Mario Cristobal and that staff has been doing for the last couple of years.
00:47:02Building in the trenches, picking up certain pieces in the portal to help fill in those gaps.
00:47:09And you've seen it so far.
00:47:10I mean, you could have whatever opinion you want of the portal and the way things go down.
00:47:15And I certainly have mine.
00:47:16And certainly am not a fan of it.
00:47:18But here we are.
00:47:19If you look at how Mario Cristobal has emphasized the trenches and you look at their defensive line,
00:47:26there's a tweet circulating out there of the top 20 or 15 whatever defensive line recruits from three years ago.
00:47:38And five of them now are going to be playing for Miami next year.
00:47:41If you include Damon Wilson, we transferred in.
00:47:43So if they indeed are successful in bringing Darion Mensah in, along with one of his wide receivers,
00:47:51Malachi Tony looks like a star.
00:47:53He already is a star.
00:47:54Looks like a Heisman-type guy.
00:47:55Offensive line.
00:47:57You continue to win in the trenches.
00:47:58It kind of splinters to every other aspect of the game.
00:48:01And you look at the schedule next year.
00:48:03You've got the game at Notre Dame, obviously, which will be a difficult game.
00:48:06But that loss at SMU last year might be their last ACC loss for quite some time.
00:48:13Yeah, so I don't want to Bogart the bear here.
00:48:15But do you have any inside info on Mensah?
00:48:18Anything you can update us with?
00:48:19All I know is what the people who are a lot smarter than me tell me.
00:48:26And the people within the Miami chat that I'm part of who actually a couple of attorneys in there,
00:48:32they ultimately think the way this is going to end is some type of arbitration where Miami pays Duke a certain amount of money
00:48:41to get him out of his deal, and then they'll wind up paying Mensah whatever NIL deal possible.
00:48:46Now, whether he is forced to enroll late, whether he's forced to enroll in the summer, nobody knows.
00:48:52But I think the likelihood is high that the expectation is that Darion Mensah will be the Miami quarterback next year.
00:48:58Okay.
00:48:59There you go.
00:48:59Bear, obviously, like you were saying about the trenches, I was talking to our offensive line.
00:49:06They said that front on Miami is the best front they've played all year.
00:49:10I thought the exterior guys, Mesador and Bain, would take over.
00:49:16But 99-5 were unbelievable in the interior.
00:49:20And they gave Pat, Bray, and Drew a lot of trouble.
00:49:23And we're going to talk to Pat when he comes on.
00:49:25But, I mean, are these guys coming back?
00:49:27Are they all gone?
00:49:28No.
00:49:29Well, 99-5 for both Scott.
00:49:32Justin Scott is back.
00:49:33Wow.
00:49:35Abad Moten is back as well.
00:49:37And Lightfoot, who played a little bit in that game, who was a highly thought-up guy, who had some big plays in the playoff.
00:49:43He's back.
00:49:44You bring in Damon Wilson.
00:49:45They got some guys there.
00:49:48Armando Blunt, who was one of the best recruits in the country.
00:49:50They feel really good about their ability to fill those gaps.
00:49:55But, yeah, I'm glad you brought up 99-5 because Moten was a guy who had been hurt a good bit this year.
00:50:01And he was finally able to play a complete game.
00:50:04And Scott, a young guy who kind of stepped up this year and really emerged.
00:50:10Their biggest issue next year on defense is going to be the linebacking core.
00:50:14If they can get Moten Ray back and find some other guys to replace some guys who will leave.
00:50:19Because that's the area of the field that I think they need the biggest help with.
00:50:22Yeah.
00:50:22All right, Bear, now that, you know, college football is over as a gambler, where is the focus being shifted to?
00:50:32You're going to play some college basketball.
00:50:34I see you have your soccer hat on.
00:50:36Where are we going?
00:50:37I got to follow your bets.
00:50:39No, we love soccer.
00:50:40And this is kind of the time of the year where I get re-involved and ignite my passion again for horse racing.
00:50:46It's a big racing car this weekend down at Gulfstream.
00:50:50The Pegasus World Cup is this weekend down there.
00:50:53So a big, big, big week there.
00:50:54Of course, Final Four, March Madness will be dialed in.
00:50:58Champions League, tennis majors, golf majors.
00:51:02I'm not as big into the day-to-day grind of college basketball.
00:51:07But the golf tournaments, the tennis majors, futures as well, things like that.
00:51:13A little pick five every now and then for Gulfstream and Oakland.
00:51:18But that's kind of where I'm headed now.
00:51:20Well, if you have any good horses that you're looking at this weekend, make sure you text them all to my phone.
00:51:26Well, you might want to take a look at litigation in the Gulfstream Park turf sprint tomorrow.
00:51:32Okay.
00:51:33The seventh race at Gulfstream.
00:51:35Seventh race at Gulfstream, the number three horse, litigation.
00:51:38I'm marking it down right now.
00:51:40Five to one morning line.
00:51:42Brian Lynch has been red hot down there at Gulfstream.
00:51:44I think this horse is super alive tomorrow.
00:51:47Brian Lynch, noted.
00:51:49All right, Bear.
00:51:49Let's talk a little bit of NFL here.
00:51:52Where are you leaning this weekend with the two big games, AFC Championship, NFC Championship?
00:51:58I keep going back and forth on the AFC game.
00:52:01But I openly admit I think way too hard about this stuff and put paralysis through analysis is like the ultimate thing.
00:52:13And everyone seems to be landing on the same group thing with the AFC game.
00:52:18That's overreaction.
00:52:20There isn't that much of a drop off from Knicks to Stidham.
00:52:23And everybody loves the Broncos.
00:52:24And we've seen the number come back down.
00:52:27Like the more and more I think about it now, like I don't know.
00:52:30Like are they really going to be able to run the ball on the Patriots?
00:52:33They seem to just be capitalizing on turnovers week in and week out.
00:52:39A couple of bad offensive lines that they played did wind up getting some pressure on Herbert and Stroud the last couple of weeks.
00:52:45This might just be one of those charm type seasons for the Patriots.
00:52:48So after earlier in the week, kind of liking Denver, I've kind of pulled a 180 here.
00:52:55And I'm going to play the Patriots in this game just because I think the number now has come down.
00:52:59And everyone seems to be coming to the same conclusion, which is never a good thing.
00:53:04And then in the other game, I thought the Rams were the best team in football all year long.
00:53:09And they should have won that game in Seattle a couple of weeks ago.
00:53:13You're catching two and a half points.
00:53:15Who knows if Sam Darnold ultimately is 100% or not.
00:53:19Kenneth Walker now is going to have to carry a lion's share.
00:53:22The carries because of the injury to Charbonnet.
00:53:25You really don't want him doing that.
00:53:26They got the injury to Brian, a tight end, the concussion.
00:53:29I think there are a lot of concerns with the Seahawks team.
00:53:33But again, on the other side, the Rams, you've got the injuries as well.
00:53:38You would think that that Seahawks defense would do a better job on Nakua this time.
00:53:43I do like the Rams plus the points here.
00:53:46But again, wouldn't shock me if the Seahawks won.
00:53:49But I thought the Rams were the best team.
00:53:51So I think we're going to get a rematch of that absolutely disgusting Super Bowl from a couple years ago.
00:53:57Rams-Patriots, which was what was it, 10-3 or 13-3 or something.
00:54:01Bad game, yeah. 13-3.
00:54:01Disgusting game.
00:54:02Hopefully be a little bit better this time around.
00:54:04All right.
00:54:05Bear, you got any player props or anything outside of spread that you're going to be looking at this weekend?
00:54:10I think the Nakua receptions prop, maybe not the yardage, but over seven-and-a-half receptions, I think, was something that I would potentially look at.
00:54:20Obviously, I think they're going to continue to feed him the ball.
00:54:25But you would expect Seattle to do a better job.
00:54:28But I think Nakua's reception prop over would be one that I would look at.
00:54:32And maybe the Jared Stidham passing prop yardage over it, I think, Sean Payton, you can't just go out there and run Harvey.
00:54:41And I know Dobbins was activated to practice.
00:54:44I don't know if he's going to play.
00:54:46This isn't going to be a game where they're going to be able to just run those backs into the line of scrimmage against New England.
00:54:51They're going to have to try and throw the ball with Stidham.
00:54:55So I'd look at a Stidham yardage prop over.
00:54:57And again, if they're behind in the game, that obviously helps that prop, too.
00:55:00Bear, as we're all kind of college football guys and gals here, what is your offseason process looks like?
00:55:11Like, when do you start to study up?
00:55:13When do you start to lock back in?
00:55:15How do you cope?
00:55:16How do you handle the long dark of the college football offseason?
00:55:20It's certainly going to be a longer cope than usual this year.
00:55:24We just had the season ended and just trying to shake that and know that with the process of getting right back to that point,
00:55:30is so long.
00:55:32But I'll take a little bit of time to just kind of decompress.
00:55:36And then I'll start going through some schedules and jotting down some things about situations.
00:55:41Look at, ultimately, roster poor.
00:55:44I've already made a C.J. Carr Heisman Trophy bet for next year.
00:55:47I found an 8-1 on him.
00:55:49You look at the Notre Dame schedule for next year.
00:55:52They got the home game against Miami.
00:55:53And outside of that, it's really, really favorable.
00:55:56It's going to be a team in the preseason top five.
00:55:59He already has the equity built up from last year.
00:56:02So I think C.J.
00:56:04Did I say C.J. Stroud?
00:56:05Because I meant C.J. Carr.
00:56:06Yeah.
00:56:07I did say it.
00:56:08But I said, good, good.
00:56:10Yeah, I bet I did bet Carr.
00:56:11I did bet Carr and 8-1 to win the Heisman.
00:56:13And again, I think as we continue to get portal news and roster news, I'll continue to look.
00:56:18And I know there are a couple of sites out there.
00:56:21Bill Conley does a really good job of kind of throwing out a little spring preview at times.
00:56:26So I'll consume that.
00:56:28And I think one thing as a handicapper that each of the last two years, we really haven't been able to capture it early on.
00:56:38Two years ago, you had Arizona State.
00:56:40Last year, it was Indiana.
00:56:41You really have no idea the impact of the portal.
00:56:45And don't be afraid to take a shot with some of these prices on odds to win divisions, national titles, things like that.
00:56:53No knowing next year.
00:56:55Look, we were kicking around on Bear Bets the other day.
00:56:58Like, Jeff and Sammy were like, okay, teams potentially to maybe fade next year.
00:57:02And we brought up maybe you take a shot with a no with Ohio State to make the playoff.
00:57:07You look at Buckeye's schedule.
00:57:09They have a majority of their tough games on the road next year.
00:57:13A team like Penn State, they avoid everybody in the Big Ten this year.
00:57:18Remember now, Notre Dame, if it's in the top 12, is going to be in the playoffs.
00:57:22So there'll be one fewer spot for other teams.
00:57:25All these little things, just kind of make a little mental checklist or so, or even put it in your notes app on your phone, just as a reminder of these things to factor in.
00:57:35Yeah, I don't know.
00:57:36I think I was having problems with my IFB, Bear, because I didn't hear LSU National Championship anywhere.
00:57:44Oh, I can't wait.
00:57:46I can't wait to fire on LSU under nine and a half.
00:57:48Don't worry.
00:57:49Let's go, baby.
00:57:51They're going to keep it under 10.
00:57:54They're going to go nine and a half, and they're going to juice that puppy up to about minus 170, 180.
00:58:00I think the days of 10 wins in the SEC are over.
00:58:03Oh, you said you're going to fire under nine and a half.
00:58:06Oh, yeah.
00:58:06Okay, screw you, Bear.
00:58:07I don't want to talk to you anymore, dude.
00:58:09Bad friend.
00:58:10You're a bad friend of the show.
00:58:11Come on, Bear.
00:58:12Yeah, come on, Bear.
00:58:13What the hell, dude?
00:58:14Come on.
00:58:14You're supposed to be my best friend.
00:58:15Love it, Bear.
00:58:16I love all of you.
00:58:18Yeah, I know.
00:58:19We love you, too.
00:58:20That's the best advice I can give you is what this little conversation just was.
00:58:26Last year, everyone I spoke to was, oh, Illinois.
00:58:31They could maybe go to the playoff.
00:58:33They're an over team.
00:58:35Illinois under eight.
00:58:39All right, Bear.
00:58:40Hey, thank you so much for everything, man.
00:58:43Thank you, Bear.
00:58:43100 episodes.
00:58:44You're the man.
00:58:44Grits for the weekend.
00:58:45Thank you, baby.
00:58:46Have a great weekend, everybody.
00:58:47Have a great weekend as well.
00:58:48You too, Bear.
00:58:49All right, coming up next, we have Indiana national champion and Rose Bowl MVP Pat Coogan
00:58:56joining the show.
00:58:57Don't go anywhere.
00:58:59More Wake Up Barstool, Smasher Pass, Cadix Crawlers.
00:59:02Plenty more to get to on today's episode.
00:59:10What's happening, y'all?
00:59:11Welcome back.
00:59:11Wake Up Barstool, episode 100.
00:59:14And, hey, what better way to celebrate episode 100 than with our first
00:59:19first-ever Rose Bowl MVP here on the show?
00:59:23Pat Coogan, Indiana center, national champion.
00:59:29Pat, how crazy is it to see Rose Bowl MVP next to your name?
00:59:34Well, first of all, thanks for having me on.
00:59:36You guys look unbelievable.
00:59:37100 episodes.
00:59:38You had to dress up.
00:59:39Thought about us.
00:59:39In the best way possible.
00:59:40It's crazy, man.
00:59:43I don't really know how to put it into words.
00:59:48It's nuts, and I'm going to hold that title next to my name for a long time.
00:59:52That's insane, bro.
00:59:52That never happens.
00:59:53I can't think of another offensive lineman that's ever gotten MVP of a major game like that.
00:59:57That's so cool.
00:59:58Shout out to the Rose Bowl.
00:59:59Side note.
01:00:00Shout out.
01:00:00So, the thing is, though, it's like how that happens is because of what the Hoggies did
01:00:09to that Alabama front, bro.
01:00:11I mean, y'all put them in a frickin' blender.
01:00:13Yeah.
01:00:14Y'all dominated.
01:00:15It's a good day.
01:00:16What point in that game did you, was there a moment where you felt their will break?
01:00:22And we, look, me, you, Kate, like we know what it's like.
01:00:25The best field in the world on a football field is when you know that you have mental and
01:00:29physical dominance and the other person doesn't want to be there anymore.
01:00:32What point did Alabama shatter?
01:00:35Yeah.
01:00:37Probably start of the fourth quarter, we started with the ball, like, on the plus 30.
01:00:42Yeah.
01:00:42And then we ripped off an outside zone for, like, 25 for a tud.
01:00:48I love this guy.
01:00:51And I was like, you know that feeling, right?
01:00:53Oh, yeah, dude.
01:00:54It's like, oh, yeah.
01:00:55Everything's just working.
01:00:56Yeah.
01:00:56Everything's just smooth.
01:00:57You're in a flow state.
01:00:59They're silent.
01:01:01Yeah.
01:01:01They're not firing off the ball anymore.
01:01:02They're arguing with each other.
01:01:03Oh, yeah.
01:01:04Dude, the cracks are starting to show.
01:01:07And you hear them arguing and you just kind of giggle because you know what's going on.
01:01:11Oh, yeah, it's good.
01:01:11Yeah.
01:01:12But, I mean, we went into halftime.
01:01:14It was 17-0 just like it was Oklahoma.
01:01:17Yeah.
01:01:18So we were.
01:01:18Yeah, true.
01:01:19You know, it was not.
01:01:21And I guess that's kind of the story of our whole year.
01:01:25But just like the complacency.
01:01:27And we were just.
01:01:28Yep.
01:01:29I mean, we wanted to dominate.
01:01:30And we did.
01:01:31So, yeah, that was a great day.
01:01:33And it's the whole Big Ten.
01:01:33He's SEC guy.
01:01:35It's the whole Big Ten SEC thing.
01:01:37You just want to dominate the SEC.
01:01:38Well, yeah.
01:01:38I mean.
01:01:38That was an awesome Sally right there.
01:01:40Big Ten.
01:01:41Oh, we're going to be breaking that.
01:01:42Early Sally.
01:01:43That was the moment where I was like, we just.
01:01:45Like, holy crap, man.
01:01:47Yeah.
01:01:48So, like, I mean, obviously, Notre Dame last year, losing in the national championship.
01:01:52Coming back.
01:01:53Coming to Indiana this year, winning the national championship.
01:01:55Like, how great.
01:01:56Like, because you guys.
01:01:57I mean, you guys were backed up on the minus one.
01:02:00And you guys had a QB sneak to win the game.
01:02:04I mean, how good did that feel?
01:02:05Like, right after I saw you, like, you put your hands.
01:02:07You put your head in your hands.
01:02:09Well, that was incredibly stressful.
01:02:10Yes.
01:02:10Because I did not want to mess up that.
01:02:12I know.
01:02:13I know.
01:02:13That was.
01:02:14That was kind of a hairy knee.
01:02:16I love my guy, Jamari.
01:02:17He was very sharp for winning us the national championship.
01:02:20But.
01:02:20But the fact that he put us in that situation was not.
01:02:23It made it a little more stressful for the boys.
01:02:26Dude.
01:02:27I couldn't imagine.
01:02:28I, like, lost.
01:02:29I don't think I've still, like, soaked it all in.
01:02:32Right.
01:02:32Because it's just been, like, so many emotions and, like, so many positive emotions, right?
01:02:38Just filled with joy and pride.
01:02:40But then also, like, it's over, you know?
01:02:43Like, us boys, we're all, like, going our separate ways.
01:02:46Yeah.
01:02:47So we're just kind of trying to soak it all up.
01:02:49I'm home for a few days and then going back tomorrow.
01:02:52But, man, it's an incredible feeling.
01:02:56That was nuts.
01:02:57What is this?
01:02:58Is this the championship parade?
01:02:59Kirkwood.
01:02:59No, this is Kirkwood after the game.
01:03:01Oh, after the game.
01:03:02Oh, wow, dude.
01:03:03People climbing light posts.
01:03:05I mean, that's upstairs pub right there.
01:03:07Yeah.
01:03:08And that's just the whole street.
01:03:09I mean, I saw videos of people running from, like, the square up, like, northern Kirkwood and then just running all the way down here, like, nutty.
01:03:19Pat, one thing that's kind of lost in the sauce, too, now is just how long these college football seasons have become.
01:03:26And especially for you, I mean, like you said, you've had back-to-back of these things.
01:03:32I mean, you've maximized the schedule two years in a row now.
01:03:35And that's probably, I would imagine, part of the reason why you feel like you haven't soaked it all in.
01:03:39Because, like, how do you stay locked in moment-to-moment, day-to-day for seven months, eight months at a time?
01:03:49Yeah, I mean, that's the separator, right?
01:03:52Yeah.
01:03:52Like, between good and great and also the teams that don't make it.
01:03:58And I think we just did a great job of that.
01:04:01And, you know, there's a lot of professionals in the building.
01:04:03No matter how much of us are going to go pro or actually play professionally, a lot of the team are pros in, like, how we go about our business every single day.
01:04:13And, obviously, it starts with Coach Sig and the mindset that he implements because there's no gray area for people in the building to not have that mindset.
01:04:22And I think that's how we really kind of executed the whole way.
01:04:25It was because it was just so detailed and so process-oriented.
01:04:29And we went 16-0, which is pretty wild.
01:04:35And I love it.
01:04:36Have you seen this Sark quote from last year?
01:04:39I did see it.
01:04:40Where he's like, I don't think we're ever going to see a team go 16-0 again.
01:04:43Good luck.
01:04:44And here, Indiana, it's not a year later with the perfect season.
01:04:47You guys, like, obviously just made this sports story that is historical and just such an awesome story.
01:04:57When do you think it will sink in that, like, you were part of that?
01:05:00You were such a big part of this thing that people are going to be talking about forever.
01:05:03Greatest college football story of all time.
01:05:05Yeah.
01:05:05I don't even know about college football.
01:05:07One of the greatest sports stories of all time and easily the best college football story of all time.
01:05:12Yeah.
01:05:12Man, I don't know.
01:05:13That's a great question.
01:05:14But.
01:05:18As Dana says, Sarah in Orange talks.
01:05:23Probably in the next few months.
01:05:26Like, right?
01:05:27Because I'll have some time off to, or not time off.
01:05:29I'll be training.
01:05:29But, like, outside the facility and just reminiscing almost.
01:05:36But, yeah, I mean, it's on to the next.
01:05:37Like, that's our, it's kind of the life I'm living right now, but it's a blessing.
01:05:42But, yeah, I mean, it's wild.
01:05:44Like, I saw a video, which was an absolute tearjerker, but it was an elderly man.
01:05:51He was probably, like, 85 plus, and he was a season ticket holder since probably.
01:05:55Did you see this one?
01:05:56Oh, man.
01:05:57Old people get me every time.
01:05:59They get me every time.
01:06:01Since, like, season ticket holder since probably 19, what was it, like, 71 or even, like, 67.
01:06:07And he was, like, you know, all my friends in heaven would love to be here.
01:06:11I was, like, this is unbelievable.
01:06:14And it was him and his wife at the game.
01:06:16I was, like, that's why you do it, right?
01:06:17Like, you know, of course, it's fun celebrating with your boys, and you're, like, man in the arena, we just did this.
01:06:23But looking from a macro perspective on what we did for the town of Coach Deal, like, on Paycheck, all the people who have, like, poured their heart and soul, Kadick, into IU.
01:06:38Shout out, Kadick.
01:06:38Yeah.
01:06:39Well, and, like, who's the voice of the Hoosiers?
01:06:41He's been the voice since, what, like, 78 or something?
01:06:44He's been doing this forever.
01:06:44So he's had to grind through a lot of dark days.
01:06:48And now here, like, his call on the national team, oh, look at this.
01:06:53So this is the voice right after the game.
01:06:57I was bawling so hard.
01:07:00Yeah, you know, like everybody said, you were a key part in laying the groundwork for the...
01:07:04He's like, I got a wristband for him.
01:07:07I was just like, you know, bawling my eyes out.
01:07:09I ran over.
01:07:11Yeah, no, he came over.
01:07:13Did you cry, Pat?
01:07:13I haven't cried yet.
01:07:14You haven't cried yet?
01:07:15No.
01:07:16Damn.
01:07:16I don't, yeah.
01:07:18I mean, you're probably still in your shock scene.
01:07:20Wait, so you cried at the video of the elderly people, but you did not cry at your natty win?
01:07:24I didn't shed a tear, but I was, like, about to.
01:07:27Come on.
01:07:28They were welling up.
01:07:29Yeah.
01:07:30So what about Mendoza, man?
01:07:32Like, how did he...
01:07:35He comes in as a transfer, and I guess, I mean, you know,
01:07:40there's a lot of that nowadays, but what are you...
01:07:43You played with a lot of great players.
01:07:45Yeah.
01:07:45What are the characteristics that he has that allowed him to become this kind of
01:07:50immediate leader of men and leader of the team?
01:07:54Yeah, I think it starts, like, on the field, right, in spring ball,
01:07:59where he just leads by example and leads by his actions and everything that he does
01:08:04is so detailed and so...
01:08:08He does everything well, and he's consistent in everything he does.
01:08:12Like, the same guy in the building each and every day,
01:08:15and I think that's a lost, like, kind of characteristic.
01:08:21Thank you, man.
01:08:22There you go.
01:08:22Which is usually not my thing.
01:08:23I'm usually not a work guy.
01:08:26Yeah, but he's just consistent in everything he does,
01:08:29and he leads by example and leads by the way he, you know,
01:08:32prepares for each and every opponent.
01:08:34Yeah.
01:08:34And then outside the facility, which is probably the best characteristic,
01:08:38is he's just the boy.
01:08:39Yeah.
01:08:40Yeah.
01:08:40You know, like...
01:08:41So that is something that I kind of want to unpack a little bit here
01:08:44because I think, you know, he comes off as, like, so nice
01:08:47and so sincere and genuine, which you love,
01:08:50and we really celebrate it here as such a great, like,
01:08:53antithesis to the modern internet culture.
01:08:56But sometimes that can go into, like, Russell Wilson territory, right?
01:09:01Where, like, he's not really one of the boys,
01:09:03and maybe he's a great guy,
01:09:05but, like, maybe everybody doesn't really get along with him.
01:09:07So Fernando is indeed one of the partners.
01:09:11Oh, yeah.
01:09:12Oh, yeah.
01:09:12What?
01:09:13Oh, yeah.
01:09:14I mean, he's...
01:09:15And what you see is what you get.
01:09:17Like, he is the nicest human in the world.
01:09:20And, you know, he's quirky and funny in the way that he answers questions,
01:09:24but that's what we all love about him.
01:09:25Yeah.
01:09:26He's just, like, he's just awesome to be around,
01:09:29and, like, he's a super funny guy, too.
01:09:31Like, just, like, cracking jokes, and one of the boys, like I said,
01:09:35and he's a great hang, man.
01:09:36He really is.
01:09:37He's authentically himself.
01:09:38Yeah, exactly.
01:09:39I wanted to ask a little bit.
01:09:41There's...
01:09:41There's Fernando and Katic right there, dude.
01:09:44I was not in the tennis.
01:09:45I know.
01:09:46I was so sad.
01:09:47So Katic held my place.
01:09:48I wanted to ask, like, about your development under Coach Bostad this past year
01:09:54because, obviously, I played...
01:09:56My first year of playing center was last year, and I got so much better.
01:10:00I learned so much about breaking down defenses and safety rotation
01:10:03and everything you see, like, unpacking a defense during the week.
01:10:07Like, how much did that help you, like, under Coach Bostad,
01:10:11and, like, what was that development like this past year?
01:10:13It helped me a ton, man.
01:10:15Like, just becoming a more complete center and, like, a complete player
01:10:19and really being knowledgeable about the game.
01:10:22Yep.
01:10:22Because that way you can take that extra step and...
01:10:25Exactly.
01:10:25...really learn what the defense is trying to do.
01:10:28And, yeah, like you said, safety rotation, you know,
01:10:32maybe why we're checking to a different play.
01:10:34You know, our personnel putting on the field, the defense matching.
01:10:39Yep.
01:10:39Right, like, learning about the intricacies of defense
01:10:43and playing the game within the game
01:10:45while also attacking, like, individual drills
01:10:48and getting better, like, fundamentally.
01:10:50So many reps.
01:10:51Yeah, so many reps.
01:10:53What about Coach Cignetti?
01:10:55Obviously, like, he's become a centerpiece in this story in his own right,
01:11:01and you've played for a lot of great coaches, you know,
01:11:03two premier programs here.
01:11:05What are the separating factors with Coach Cignetti
01:11:07that allowed him to be the CEO of this story?
01:11:11Yeah, I think just, again, like, he's authentically himself,
01:11:17and he doesn't care about the narratives.
01:11:20Specifically last year and leading up into this year,
01:11:23there was a lot of talk about...
01:11:25There was just a lot of talk, right?
01:11:26Yeah, yeah, for sure.
01:11:27Yeah, I've never seen anything like it.
01:11:30I mean, a team dominates, everybody loses two games,
01:11:32a team that play in the natty, and everybody's like,
01:11:34oh, this team's actually not that good.
01:11:36It's insane.
01:11:37Yeah.
01:11:37Yeah, and I think just he was so...
01:11:42He just emphasized just, like, put, you know,
01:11:44let's put our actions on the field, right?
01:11:46Like, he's talked about it before.
01:11:48He kind of awoke the fan base last year, like, in your last year,
01:11:52and he felt like it was necessary to kind of rile people up.
01:11:55But this year was all about action, and I really...
01:11:58Interesting.
01:11:58And I really felt like that was necessary for us,
01:12:02and, you know, he just makes sure we always have our head on straight.
01:12:06Like, he is the most humbling guy in the world, you know.
01:12:09Like, he will humble you to a T, and...
01:12:13Is he a mother effer?
01:12:14Like, does he get on you?
01:12:17Or is he...
01:12:17Like, what's his style of correction?
01:12:21Yes.
01:12:21Is he a nephew?
01:12:22Yes, I would say so.
01:12:25But it's more so, like, if you screw up something in practice,
01:12:30like, that we've done a bunch, or, like, you have low effort,
01:12:33or, like, do something, that's when it'll get on you.
01:12:35But if you make, like, a mistake, or, like, you screw up,
01:12:38like, have a bust, like, he'll just be like,
01:12:39all right, run it again, and then...
01:12:41I don't know, but he...
01:12:42Yeah, he's a...
01:12:42He's a scary guy on the field.
01:12:44He got after us the Tuesday practice of the Natty,
01:12:48because he felt that the scout team kicked our, you know what.
01:12:51Yeah, so...
01:12:52Shout out to the scout team bringing in Natty week, baby.
01:12:54Our scout team, credit to them.
01:12:56I mean, they were amazing.
01:12:58Coach Leeds and Coach...
01:13:00Higgs.
01:13:00Higgs running the show.
01:13:02You know how important that stuff is.
01:13:04Like, it's...
01:13:05I mean, those are, like, the unsung heroes of the team.
01:13:08But, no, he got after us.
01:13:10And he handles a lot of the guys on the outside, like, receivers.
01:13:13Like, he's a receiver guy.
01:13:15So...
01:13:15Oh, I didn't know that.
01:13:16Oh, for sure.
01:13:17He coached receivers with Saban.
01:13:18At Alabama.
01:13:19Interesting.
01:13:20I thought he was tight ends or something.
01:13:21So, like, if Surratt or, you know, any of those guys consistently,
01:13:25you know, the splits are off or anything like that,
01:13:27he'll get on them for sure.
01:13:29And then he kind of lets Coach Bostad handle the inside.
01:13:32But there's been multiple occasions where he's certainly raised his voice.
01:13:38So, Cougs, what's next for you, man?
01:13:41Because this is always such a...
01:13:42Now, and granted, the championship makes this go down way easier
01:13:46than for, like, Miami players who are in the same boat.
01:13:49But, I mean, NFL aspirations.
01:13:51So, you finish here.
01:13:52It's so late.
01:13:53You now go...
01:13:54What?
01:13:54You've got to go immediately into training.
01:13:57Then what?
01:13:57Then it's combine, then draft, then OTA.
01:14:00He's like, what's next?
01:14:02Yeah, I'm...
01:14:03Yeah, it's nonstop.
01:14:05So, I came home.
01:14:07You know, I live, like, 45 minutes south of here.
01:14:09But had to stop by the office and say what's up.
01:14:12But then, you know, hanging out with my family tonight
01:14:15for the last kind of hoorah.
01:14:17Yeah.
01:14:17Going back to Bloomington to celebrate with Hoosier Nation tomorrow.
01:14:22Parade tomorrow?
01:14:23Parade tomorrow.
01:14:23Let's go.
01:14:24And then flying to Phoenix to train with Alex Boone
01:14:29and Training House down there.
01:14:30And I'm excited, man.
01:14:32Like, we talked about it.
01:14:34I mean, it's nonstop.
01:14:34It's stressful.
01:14:35But it's a blessing.
01:14:36Yeah.
01:14:36You know what I mean?
01:14:37Like, I'm blessed to be in the position that I am.
01:14:39And just everything that encapsulates this whole journey,
01:14:42you know, it's all...
01:14:43It's only going up from here.
01:14:45I mean, the national championship was kind of...
01:14:47You're immortal, dude.
01:14:49You're immortal.
01:14:49Well, you know, college checked.
01:14:52You achieved.
01:14:53You beat the college game.
01:14:55Yeah.
01:14:56He's got some good words.
01:14:57Encapsulates?
01:14:58Yeah.
01:14:58How about it, boys?
01:15:00So, Dana, I'm not trying to plan the rest of your day.
01:15:02Way over my head, dude.
01:15:03I feel like you could do an episode of the Yugg Station with Cougar.
01:15:07Oh, yeah.
01:15:07We should get Cougar in the Yugg Station.
01:15:10Yeah.
01:15:10I feel like it has to happen.
01:15:12All right.
01:15:13Now, since we have our biggest version of the big boys here,
01:15:17let's do a little Smasher Pass.
01:15:18Do it.
01:15:18This is going to be the biggest Smasher Pass.
01:15:20And granted, like, generally all the suit is good.
01:15:23What do you got for us today, producer?
01:15:24Smasher Pass.
01:15:25Hopefully it's not like a cliche niche thing.
01:15:28What is this?
01:15:29Way over the center of the car?
01:15:30What are we looking at here?
01:15:31Do you think this is the Italian version, maybe?
01:15:34I don't know.
01:15:34Wait, no.
01:15:34Is that a holocaust?
01:15:36What the hell is shakshuka?
01:15:38I don't know what this is,
01:15:39but I would eat this a thousand times out of a thousand.
01:15:42Anytime a runny egg is on top of anything, I'm going to do it.
01:15:45Yes.
01:15:45I'm going to hard pass on that.
01:15:47What?
01:15:48I'm passing, too.
01:15:49I don't know what it is.
01:15:49I don't.
01:15:50And I don't like the textures of wet on wet.
01:15:52But what is under that?
01:15:54Like, what is the difference?
01:15:55I don't love a runny egg.
01:15:57What?
01:15:58That made me hand up.
01:15:59I don't do it.
01:15:59What?
01:15:59You know, either day, guys, what is going on here?
01:16:02I'm more of a fried egg guy.
01:16:03Scrambled or fried.
01:16:04Scrambled or fried.
01:16:05I agree.
01:16:06Oh, man.
01:16:07I'm with you, Mikey.
01:16:09A wet yoke that brings it all together.
01:16:12Except on a breakfast sandwich because it gets too messy.
01:16:14But, like, on top of a skillet?
01:16:16Yeah.
01:16:17Yes, on a breakfast sandwich as well.
01:16:19Oh, man.
01:16:20You all are crazy.
01:16:21Okay, two surprise passes here.
01:16:22What is shakshuka about?
01:16:23What about, like, a cheeseburger?
01:16:25I'm not sure.
01:16:25I think it's Greek.
01:16:28Maybe.
01:16:28Let me Google.
01:16:29All right, what's next?
01:16:34Oh, of course.
01:16:37Okonomiyaki.
01:16:38Yes, of course.
01:16:39What are they doing back there?
01:16:42I'm going to go off the basis.
01:16:43This is an Asian dish, potentially.
01:16:45It looks like a little, like,
01:16:46I would say okonomiyaki would speak to that, maybe.
01:16:48Some mayonnaise.
01:16:51I think it's eel sauce and maybe, like, the Kewpie mayo.
01:16:54Yes, this is a savory pancake with Kewpie mayo, apparently.
01:16:57Oh, yeah, I'm eating that.
01:16:59I'm out.
01:17:00And soy sauce, yeah.
01:17:00Why?
01:17:01I'll eat it.
01:17:02I won't smash it.
01:17:03I'll pass, actually.
01:17:04You're going to pass?
01:17:05I'll eat it, but I'm not going to smash it.
01:17:07I would dabble.
01:17:08Yeah, I'll dabble, but I'm not smashing.
01:17:10Look, I've been on this earth for almost 37 years now.
01:17:15Now, my instincts have served me pretty well.
01:17:17Damn.
01:17:18I need 12 of these.
01:17:19This looks amazing.
01:17:20Absolute smash.
01:17:21Shakshuka is a northern African and Middle Eastern dish of eggs poached in a flavorful sauce of tomatoes,
01:17:27chili peppers, onions, spiced with cumin, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
01:17:31Yes, yes.
01:17:32Smash.
01:17:33I need bread, though, with it.
01:17:34And smash on the okonomiyaki.
01:17:36Yeah, yeah.
01:17:38All right, what do we got next?
01:17:41What?
01:17:42Wemos on a general.
01:17:43Smash.
01:17:43Absolute smash.
01:17:44Is this the hard chip under it?
01:17:46Yeah.
01:17:46Yeah, it's like the fried tortilla, I think.
01:17:48Hard chip.
01:17:51It's like K-Vix chips.
01:17:53Hard chip.
01:17:54So dumb.
01:17:55I mean, you got any of them hard chips?
01:17:57I got this case on.
01:17:58I'll take another basket of hard chips.
01:18:01You're the best.
01:18:03You don't put salt in your hard chips?
01:18:05What's under the egg?
01:18:06Where'd your thing go?
01:18:08It doesn't fit my neck.
01:18:10He had that on all show.
01:18:12It doesn't fit.
01:18:12Maybe some cheese or something?
01:18:15It looks like there's some meat underneath.
01:18:16I'm going to look it up.
01:18:17Yeah, I'm a fan.
01:18:18Yeah, obviously.
01:18:19Where's the Joe's great?
01:18:20Cheetah Keelish is great.
01:18:22Did Carson go out to get something for us?
01:18:25I wish.
01:18:26I doubt it.
01:18:27I wish.
01:18:28What do we got next?
01:18:28Anyone should do that for the 100th episode.
01:18:31No.
01:18:31I thought we all thought Carson's gone.
01:18:35All right, what's the last one here?
01:18:36Dang.
01:18:37Yes!
01:18:38It's Benedict.
01:18:39Yes.
01:18:39Smash, smash.
01:18:40It's so hard.
01:18:41I love it so much.
01:18:43Add some crab meat on top and you're in business.
01:18:45The hollandaise.
01:18:46The hollandaise.
01:18:46Imperial Benedict.
01:18:47Oh, my God.
01:18:49Never had.
01:18:49So good.
01:18:50Oh, try it.
01:18:51I'm a fan.
01:18:53I'm a fan.
01:18:53Are you passing?
01:18:54The hollandaise on top.
01:18:55It's not something like a go-to order.
01:18:57Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:18:58But if it's in front of you, you're going to...
01:18:59It's special occasion type breakfast.
01:19:01You don't want it every morning, but sometimes when you get hungry for it, it's like the best
01:19:04breakfast.
01:19:05Like corned beef hash.
01:19:05Or like a fancy brunch or something.
01:19:06Yeah, fancy brunch.
01:19:07I'd be loving a corned beef hash skillet.
01:19:09Oh, fantastic.
01:19:10Bro, absolutely.
01:19:11That's something I was not aware of before I moved to the Midwest.
01:19:14I was about to say the F word.
01:19:15Corned beef hash rocks.
01:19:17There you go.
01:19:18Yeah, Kada.
01:19:19Great job.
01:19:19Um, Cougar, we've had this debate many times on this show.
01:19:23Build me your ideal breakfast sandwich.
01:19:25Oh, man.
01:19:26Yeah.
01:19:27Bread, meat.
01:19:28Yeah, bread, whatever else.
01:19:29This may be a hot take, but I'm going English muffin.
01:19:32Okay.
01:19:32Okay.
01:19:34I think it holds everything together.
01:19:36I love a good bagel, but I think it holds everything together.
01:19:40Bagel would be a bit overwhelming sometimes.
01:19:41The bagel with the hole sometimes just causes problems.
01:19:44It's just an easier vehicle with the English muffin.
01:19:47English muffin that wants the meat.
01:19:48I'm going to go bacon.
01:19:50Interesting.
01:19:51Yeah.
01:19:51I'm going to go bacon.
01:19:53But it's got to be like thick center cut.
01:19:55You've got to have a lot.
01:19:56Yeah.
01:19:56Thick center cut.
01:19:58Yep.
01:19:58He's a huge sausage guy.
01:20:00That's why.
01:20:00Well, I just think that bacon can be insubstantial sometimes.
01:20:04It's a fair argument.
01:20:05It's fine.
01:20:05It's a fair argument.
01:20:06But like the patty-like nature of the sausage means that you're getting a better meat ratio
01:20:11a lot of times.
01:20:11Yeah.
01:20:12I agree.
01:20:12It's a fair argument.
01:20:13What kind of egg?
01:20:14I'm going like a soft scramble with a slice of American cheese melting on top.
01:20:20Hell yeah.
01:20:20Hash brown?
01:20:21I mean, that's fantastic.
01:20:22Slice American on eggs just like it goes together.
01:20:24It's perfect.
01:20:25Well, let me ask you this.
01:20:26This is a very niche Indiana.
01:20:28And then I'm going.
01:20:28All right.
01:20:29Go ahead.
01:20:29C-Mart?
01:20:30I've never had it.
01:20:32Patrick Coogan.
01:20:33I know.
01:20:34I know.
01:20:35It's an Indiana thing?
01:20:36Yeah.
01:20:36This hurts my heart.
01:20:37I know.
01:20:38What is C-Mart?
01:20:38I'm so sorry, Mark.
01:20:39Can you provide us any context?
01:20:42It is a gas station, but it's not with no gas.
01:20:46So it's just a convenient mark.
01:20:47Yeah.
01:20:48We have a lot of those down south.
01:20:49C-Mart.
01:20:49Yeah, I know.
01:20:50But it has a very like, kind of like those like shitty.
01:20:55There it is.
01:20:57Damn it, Mikey.
01:20:58Mark him down.
01:20:59Even I knew that.
01:21:00How many days were we at?
01:21:01It's a 99.
01:21:02That's not accurate.
01:21:03Come on, K-Vick.
01:21:04It was like three.
01:21:05Like kind of crappier like grills or like kitchen areas.
01:21:09Even 99.
01:21:09Where they pump out the best breakfast burritos, the best sandwiches.
01:21:14I went there.
01:21:15Every time I was hungover, I went there and got like three things.
01:21:18Shout out C-Mart.
01:21:19Here's the thing.
01:21:19I didn't.
01:21:20I got there.
01:21:21Talk food.
01:21:22And I didn't trust it.
01:21:24All the boys were like, dude, you got to go to the gas station.
01:21:26And I'm like, I'm not going to a gas station to get breakfast.
01:21:29You know, like no hate or anything.
01:21:32Yeah, yeah, no, for sure.
01:21:34But you need to try it at least.
01:21:35I finally started to learn of the aura that it has and how.
01:21:38It's unbelievable.
01:21:39Those people in there know me by, you know, I would walk in there and they would have everything
01:21:43already on the counter ready for me and I would just swipe my card and I'd leave.
01:21:48There's also, I love the places where, yeah, like you can't judge them by their cover, right?
01:21:53Exactly.
01:21:54That's one of those.
01:21:55And they just blow you away with what they're turning out.
01:21:57Incredible.
01:21:57Kind of like this Indiana football team, guys.
01:22:03Welcome back to this 100th episode.
01:22:06Closing out on today's Wake Up Barstool.
01:22:08Big boys are here.
01:22:10Shout out Pat Coogan, national champ.
01:22:11All right, guys.
01:22:12Quickly, we'll do our skill and specialty and get to some Ask Wub questions.
01:22:16Here it is.
01:22:17We do it every Friday.
01:22:17The skill schedule.
01:22:18Parlay.
01:22:18Megan, kick us off.
01:22:19Sit him.
01:22:2020 plus rushing yards plus 148.
01:22:22The guy's going to have to do something back there.
01:22:24So I think he's going to try to use his legs.
01:22:26Dana, big spread here, baby.
01:22:28Oh, yeah.
01:22:29The Oklahoma City Thunder are playing against the tanking Indiana Pacers.
01:22:34Give me the Thunder.
01:22:36Minus 15 and a half.
01:22:37Mikey, what's your got?
01:22:38Patriots minus four and a half.
01:22:39Gross.
01:22:40I've been saying all week, I think the Seahawks win this game.
01:22:43I think they're a better team.
01:22:44The Seahawks minus two and a half.
01:22:44We're not overthinking it.
01:22:45Plus 1,700?
01:22:471,700.
01:22:48On this parlay?
01:22:49Good God.
01:22:50All right.
01:22:52Ask Wub.
01:22:53We ask every day.
01:22:53Get on Twitter.
01:22:54Hashtag Ask Wub.
01:22:55We answer your questions.
01:22:56Let's see what we got here, guys.
01:23:02Taco Mark asks, Wub, what's been your most memorable moments for the past 100 episodes?
01:23:08Dana's cheese diatribe.
01:23:10Brandon breaks up.
01:23:11Nicky Finn diagrams.
01:23:12Cursy.
01:23:12I like Dana's cheese.
01:23:16For myself, it's cheese.
01:23:16That was too good.
01:23:18I like doing the young.
01:23:19I like talking to Coach Hurley.
01:23:23That was really cool.
01:23:23That was really cool.
01:23:24That was really cool.
01:23:25But probably the cheese for me.
01:23:26I lost control.
01:23:28You get me talking cheese, I'm going to lose control.
01:23:31I'm sorry.
01:23:32I also, I want to put Bear at number two just because he always comes on and he's always
01:23:35so great.
01:23:36He gives us so much advice.
01:23:38So, shout out to the Bear.
01:23:39For me, eating the football was an all-time good career accomplishment.
01:23:44We had our chef try to blend up football smoothies.
01:23:48We ate them and it was terrible.
01:23:49It was terrible.
01:23:50Hashtag Ask Wub, is it okay to eat leftover wings for breakfast?
01:23:53Of course.
01:23:54Yeah.
01:23:54It's okay.
01:23:54I wouldn't do it, but it's okay.
01:23:56You can eat anything for leftovers.
01:23:56I like cold wings, I think, better than hot wings sometimes.
01:23:59I'm in the air fryer.
01:24:00Yeah.
01:24:00That's true.
01:24:01If you want to relive it, but to Megan's point, I love a cold wing on the fridge.
01:24:04Cold wings.
01:24:05I ate wings.
01:24:06I'm getting wings today.
01:24:07I'm getting wings today.
01:24:07Now that it's in the universe, I'm getting wings today.
01:24:09They had leftover wings last week.
01:24:11Oh, I thought you were going to say they were in there right now.
01:24:12And I ate them all the way through Wednesday.
01:24:15I ate them every day.
01:24:15Yeah, I did see that every day.
01:24:17Everybody kept making fun of me.
01:24:19Okay, what do we got next here?
01:24:20Hashtag Ask Wub, is Kadic aware he's more of a Hoosier legend than just a Hoosier football
01:24:28legend, even in the dark years?
01:24:30That's awesome.
01:24:32I hate it.
01:24:34I love you, Luke the Don.
01:24:36Positive vibes Friday.
01:24:37That's my sweet boy.
01:24:37Yeah, thank you.
01:24:38What is positive vibes like today?
01:24:41Appreciate you.
01:24:41Very nice.
01:24:42Cooks, thank you so much for joining us today.
01:24:44Shout out to him, baby.
01:24:45Who?
01:24:45Who?
01:24:46Who?
01:24:47Hoosiers.
01:24:47Who?
01:24:48Hey.
01:24:49Thank you, guys.
01:24:50Hey, real talk here, guys.
01:24:52At the end of today's show, massive thank you to the entire team here on Wake Up Barstool.

01:25:02to bring you this show.
01:25:03A really big thank you to everybody who's joined us on this journey 100.
01:25:07Hopefully, we got 1,000 plus more.
01:25:10I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
