00:00This may just be me projecting onto the movie, but so much of this film feels Stephen King-coded to me.
00:06Fair.
00:07I mean, really, just from, like, I mean, the alcoholic school teacher, 217.
00:12How much was that in your head?
00:15Subconsciously.
00:16Yeah?
00:16217 has to have come from that.
00:18It has to have.
00:19And, look, I'm a Kubrick guy when it comes to The Shining, you know?
00:23I definitely, like, worship that movie.
00:26And I thought of changing it to 237.
00:28But then I was like, you know what?
00:30My first impulse has got to be the one I stick with, so I kept 217.
00:34Yeah, you know, there's something, you know, the Needful Things trailer promised something that my imagination just went nuts with when I saw that as a kid.
00:43And I had a different experience when I watched the movie, but the trailer, I was just, like, kind of really into a small town just imploding over one central, like, mystery.
00:54And so I think that might have also been present when I was writing.
00:57Have you ever seen the TV edit of Needful Things?
00:58No.
00:59It's longer, better, more accurate to the book.
01:01Really?
01:01It's great.
01:02Yes.
01:02Oh, I'd love to see that.
01:03Yeah, it's out on Blu-ray.
01:04Okay, cool.
01:04I recommend.
01:05Cool.
01:05Cool.
