00:00If acting wasn't a thing, I would definitely, I don't know what I would do.
00:04I'm cautiously optimistic about the future and with AI.
00:07I really love it. I use it a lot.
00:09This is a fun one.
00:10Yeah.
00:10Perhaps your most laid-back role to date, was it?
00:14Well, it's definitely a different role than anything I've done before, but it is thrilling.
00:18I mean, you know, a man is stuck in a chair defending his life for 90 minutes,
00:23but also being confronted with 12 years worth of video evidence to suggest that he may have killed his wife.
00:30And so, yeah, it was definitely, I wouldn't call it laid-back.
00:35I would say it's maybe less active in terms of like running around,
00:40because I'm pretty much stuck in the chair the whole movie.
00:42But, you know, it's still somehow very thrilling and action-packed and kind of keeps you on the edge of your seat.
00:47Did they give you stuff to look at while you were sitting in that chair,
00:50or were you literally acting off the top of your head?
00:52I was literally acting, but I did get some stuff to look at.
00:56So, you know, they recreated the courtroom in a very real way with the volume.
01:00So no matter where the camera was, they were picking up real stuff.
01:03But all of the stuff that I was looking at, we hadn't shot yet.
01:06And so, because we shot the courtroom stuff first,
01:08and so all of the other evidence and the cars and the crime scene footage
01:11and the doorbell cameras and the fight in the bar
01:14and all this different stuff that we had to shoot later, we shot later.
01:17But I was looking at some version of that.
01:19Okay, well done.
01:20That was good acting.
01:22Good acting.
01:22I want to thank you.
01:22That's what they pay you for.
01:23Yeah.
01:24How are you under pressure, though?
01:26Like, my mom tells me off because I leave everything to the last minute
01:30because I have to do things kind of under pressure.
01:33Right.
01:33But, like, if you had to do that, like, 90 minutes,
01:35and you've got to do what he's got to do,
01:38are you good under pressure or are you more like, no, give me time?
01:41There are certain things that I'm good under pressure with,
01:46and not a lot of things.
01:48A small handful of things, and somehow, by the grace of God,
01:51they all sort of, like, help me.
01:54They're all rooted in what I do for a living.
01:56Right.
01:56Where if, like, acting wasn't a thing,
01:58I would definitely, I don't know what I would do
02:01because I'm, like, high-pressure situation.
02:04Like, even back when I was waiting tables, that was the worst.
02:06I couldn't remember anyone's order.
02:07I forgot everybody's food.
02:09It's like there's certain, some things I'm just not good at,
02:11but some pressure situations I'm good at.
02:13Did well in here.
02:14I did?
02:14You convinced me that I would want you on my side
02:17if that was.
02:18Is that right?
02:18Well, you do want me on your side, for sure.
02:19Yeah.
02:20I've always wanted you on my side anyway, Chris.
02:23Oh, that means so much to me.
02:24It's been years of doing this.
02:26I know.
02:26I know.
02:27We're on the same side.
02:28Great.
02:28Same team.
02:29Obviously, this is so AI-driven
02:31in terms of, like, Rebecca Ferguson's character.
02:34Does it scare you, AI?
02:35Because I've not fully embraced it yet.
02:38You haven't.
02:39And I probably should if I'm going to keep up
02:41with what's going on in the world.
02:43It's an incredible tool.
02:44I'm cautiously optimistic about the future
02:47and with AI.
02:48I think I really love it.
02:52I use it a lot.
02:53Do you?
02:53Yeah, I do.
02:54I use different, yeah.
02:56Are you one of those people that talks to it
02:58like it's your, I'm not going to say boyfriend,
03:00but, you know, that's how a lot of people do use it, right?
03:02No.
03:02No, I don't.
03:03No, I know where to draw the line with it.
03:05But it is a great tool.
03:07I mean, you know, it's always been the case
03:09that there's enough in this world
03:12to cause you anxiety
03:13to sort of shatter the piece of the moment.
03:16And it's really important to position yourself
03:18in such a posture that nothing can shatter that piece.
03:21And I think AI is coming close
03:23and it's causing a lot of anxiety.
03:24Certainly the algorithm-driven entertainment
03:26that kind of keeps us on our phones
03:29is in itself inducing a ton of anxiety.
03:31That also is AI.
03:33So we're interacting with AI
03:34whether we like it or not.
03:35That's true.
03:36And I think you can be careful
03:37about monitoring how much of that
03:40you allow into your life and into your orbit
03:42because it can really, like I said, shatter that piece.
03:45But yeah, I'm pretty optimistic about it.
03:47You're doing better than me.
03:48But I do think actually that we have all got it there.
03:50Yeah.
03:50I mean, if you were using Google, you're using AI.
03:53Oh, don't say that.
03:54No, it's okay.
03:55I just want to live in my nice little non-AI world.
03:57Well, you could go and become Amish.
03:59You could just like go live somewhere
04:01and just like so pants.
04:03Rebecca Ferguson, though, in here.
04:06I mean, I love her anyway.
04:07I think she's just, she is phenomenal.
04:10Did you have her to act with?
04:12Or again, was that just,
04:14was she doing her stuff completely?
04:16I always had her to act with
04:17but never quite in the room like face to face.
04:20She was in my ear.
04:21So she couldn't appear on the set
04:24because I'm in, she's essentially, you know,
04:26appearing in front of me on a big screen.
04:29And so she was in another room
04:30and we were communicating with each other through audio.
04:34So I would hear her voice
04:35and I would sometimes look up and see her
04:37because they would broadcast her live
04:39into some of the scenes.
04:40But otherwise, I was looking at just like a version of her.
04:43I was looking at an image of her face
04:44while hearing her words.
04:45Does she always keep it together
04:47when she was in your ear
04:48or did she try and put you off at any point?
04:50Oh my God, she's got this incredible ability
04:54to go from being completely silly,
04:55a total wild card,
04:57the total Rex, Rebecca Ferguson nut she is
05:01and then boom, on a dime, switching to character.
05:04And so the minute we would say cut,
05:06it was just like she'd switch right back
05:08into being Rebecca and it was really fun.
05:10She's so good.
05:11She's such a wild card.
05:12I love her.
05:13Me too.
05:13I love her too.
05:14She's great.
05:15And listen, I can't go without asking
05:18the one thing that we all saw it say
05:20at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy
05:22is that Star-Lord will return.
05:24That's right.
05:24When is he returning?
05:25I love that.
05:26I love Peter Bills so much.
05:27I love him too.
05:28They made that promise
05:29and we're going to make good on that promise.
05:31You just can't tell me when.
05:32I can't tell you exactly when.
05:33I'm not supposed to tell you exactly when.
05:35Okay.
05:35But you'll see Peter Quill.
05:36Are you going to tell us soon?
05:38Is it coming out soon?
05:39I would say between now and 2080.
05:45I'm so glad you gave me these exclusives.
05:47Yeah, that's exclusive.
05:48This is what comes from having done this for so long.
05:51I get these exclusives.
05:52The many years we've done this together.
05:53Thanks.
05:54I really appreciate that.
05:55It's so lovely to see you always, Chris.
05:57Let's not leave it so long.
05:59Let's not make it.
06:00Yeah, no more.
06:01But I'll see you between now and 2080.
06:03Yes, you will.
06:03For whenever Star-Lord's back.
06:05I hope so.
06:06I hope so.
06:06I'm going to make sure of it.
06:07Lovely for you, Chris.
06:08Nice to see you.
