00:07Her departure from the company, which is effective this week, has long been expected,
00:11but still marks a seismic shift for one of the biggest brands in Hollywood.
00:15Kennedy joined Lucasfilm in 2012, taking on the role of co-chair alongside Star Wars creator George Lucas.
00:22She was elevated to sole head of the company just a few months later,
00:25after Disney paid $4 billion for the brand and Lucas exited.
00:28Before her time at the company, she had already spent decades producing movies such as Indiana Jones and E.T.
00:35Kennedy is not leaving the galaxy far, far away immediately.
00:38As part of her exit, she will continue on as a producer on the next two Lucasfilm movies,
00:42The Mandalorian and Grogu, coming May 22nd, and 2027's Star Wars Starfighter, starring Ryan Gosling.
00:49In her wake, Executive VP and Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni has been promoted to oversee the creative direction of the company
00:56as President and Chief Creative Officer of Lucasfilm.
01:00President and General Manager of Lucasfilm Business, Lenwyn Brennan,
01:03will handle the business side of things as co-president of Lucasfilm.
01:06Filoni was mentored by Lucas himself and came up through the world of animation,
01:10overseeing beloved series such as The Clone Wars,
01:12before teaming up with Jon Favreau on live-action shows such as The Mandalorian and Ahsoka.
01:18Brennan joined Lucasfilm in 1999 and rose to President of Industrial Light & Magic,
01:22before assuming her current role in 2015, overseeing all of business for the company.
