00:00Toby Rafford, he gives so much credit to his sister Addison for his style.
00:05One of the most stylish women on skis.
00:07This man bringing style to freeride.
00:11If you look at the comments under any post that World Tour does of a Toby Rafford run,
00:15everyone's like, the stees, the stees, the stees.
00:18But let's not forget the technicality of it as well.
00:21Toby Rafford, he is going down the ridge here, out to the rider's left at speed,
00:27and going up high, so we may see a new zone tapped into.
00:31This late in the competition, riders still finding new places to go.
00:35Second from last, and we're having a whole new venue choice here.
00:38And that's what I appreciate, Toby, is he brings not just the style, not just the stees,
00:43but an immense amount of creativity with the kinds of tricks he shows
00:47and his ability to execute them cleanly.
00:49So it's not just stees, it's execution along with it.
00:53And that's why he just really knocked our socks off last season.
00:56So right now, moving down the ridge, again, this is transport with intent.
01:00You know, this isn't going to affect fluidity, because he's not really even to the face yet.
01:05Hard to say exactly where he's going here.
01:08Again, we haven't seen anyone do this yet.
01:11But that's what's amazing about Toby, is he looks at each face with very fresh eyes.
01:17Well, and look at the view that the skier has down here on this huge convex roll.
01:22And we've been looking at this face from the other perspectives, but he cannot see in there.
01:28So the precision that he's got to make his entry with is incredible.
01:33He's got the cornice below him.
01:35He's going to poke his head over, make sure he's in the right spot.
01:38The crowd is going nuts, and he is riling them up.
01:44Toby Rafford taking a page out of I'm Our Navarro's book.
01:47This is so technical.
01:49Boom, bing, bang, bong.
01:51Toby Rafford through there with so much pace.
01:56And already into this low section now at 100 miles an hour.
02:00360 the entire section.
02:02Hold on, Toby.
02:03Wow, Toby.
02:04That was so unexpected and fast and literally out of left field, the way left side of the venue.
02:17And just made such quick work of an incredibly technical exposed piece of terrain.
02:23And the crowd is going absolutely wild to welcome him here to the finish line.
02:28Well, this crowd is going to double love that because the only man we've ever seen ski over there is I'm Our Navarro, the hero of Spanish freeride.
02:38Toby just took a page out of Navarro's book and evolved it to the next level of modern freeride going absolutely haywire top to bottom.
02:50That was unbelievable from Toby Rafford.
02:53And again, with that massive 360 at the bottom, he showed that, hey, I'm not just Steez.
02:59Let me do this aggressive, very traditional freeride big mountain line and then throw a huge 360.
03:05Look at the technicality, the exposure here.
03:07Precise skiing.
03:08He has to land in those pockets very, very squarely.
03:12And then kind of hovercraft over feature after feature.
03:15And then dump some speed here as he's going to go for another big air, still get a little tweak in there, a little Steez.
03:21And then line up this absolutely floated, massive 360.
03:26He does bonk a bit in that landing.
03:29That is not a perfectly clean landing.
03:31So you see that reflected in the control bar.
03:34But it's not a full loss of control.
03:36And he held on to that basically acrobatic move here.
03:41One ski getting away from him.
03:42And he gets it back.
03:44That balance is unreal.
03:45So you can see these other line style fluidity all maxed out.
03:50And Ben's reaction just unbelievable.
03:53Well, look at the hover air line tracker all the way down the ridge into the most technical part of the face.
04:01Short work on that triple.
04:03A huge double with a floated 360.
04:06There is the man, Imar Navarro.
04:08He's coming back from a massive injury and looking like he's making his way down to give credit to Toby Rafford for taking what he pioneered and just taking it to a whole other level.
04:21As Imar Navarro, the torch has been passed.
04:25And Toby Rafford blowing our socks off with that run.
04:29I'm the only guy to go over there.
04:31I mean, that's pulling at my heartstrings a bit just because Imar wants to be on his face.
04:35But to feel the pride he must feel watching these athletes put on a show like this on his home venue.
04:42You're welcome.
04:43This is the wart for you.
04:47Oh, I just unlocked a new level on my boots.
04:51Four.
04:53Shout out to his mom.
04:55First to the booze.
04:57Plug. Free plug.
04:58AR1, let's go.
05:00He's wearing those new Armada boots.
05:03Talking about maybe having to cramp them down a little tighter to just...
05:06It wasn't that soft.
05:09It wasn't that soft.
05:10It didn't look that soft.
05:11It made the triple or charge, you know?
05:13You literally...
05:13All right, take another look here.
05:16We're going to jump into just how floated and massive that 360 was.
05:21And I think what he was saying is that landing wasn't as soft as he was expecting.
05:25Yeah.
05:26But he really held on to it.
05:27Went into the snow there.
05:28But that was because he was coming at it at 1,000 miles an hour.
05:32The floating takeoff, too.
05:34He just had to lift his feet up and set that rotation, fighting for balance on the landing.
05:39The bomb hole under that thing looks like it's about 40 meters away from the edge of where he took off.
05:45An absolutely enormous air.
05:47There's Navarro waving at Toby.
05:50Yeah.
05:51The inspiration.
05:51Thanks, bro.
05:54No problem.
05:57Well, these are the moments that just make the Fair Ride World Tour so special.
06:02So the judge is weighing it up now.
06:04There's definitely a small control dock, but the line score, the air and style, everything just pinned to the max.
06:10Just trying to get a little insight into...
06:13What's going through Toby's head there.
06:17So the judge is putting everything...
06:20You know, we've had riders to the absolute extreme skiers right.
06:24Now, Toby to the absolute extreme skiers left.
06:27This face, one of the wider, more sort of vast faces on the Freeride World Tour.
06:33And we've seen a few kind of taking on similar approaches.
06:37And then some of these riders just going completely into their own areas, trying something brand new.
06:42And for Toby Rafford, definitely working out.
06:44Mad respect to Toby as well.
06:47Knowing that that's what was in his bag and having to sit up there all day.
06:52Running second to last with that is what he's eyeing up.
06:55I mean, to hold that inside of you.
06:58I mean, he must be buzzing right now.
07:03A little behind-the-scenes look at what you put your body through there.
07:11So some anxious moments for Toby and for Ben.
07:15Ben sat in the hot seat for a while after knocking White Chan out.
07:20Dangerous moment there for Ben Richards, getting attacked by his skis.
07:25All right, here we go.
07:26The judges have spoken.
07:27The score coming in for Toby Rafford, 86.5.
07:32So into second, just behind Ben Richards.
07:36All right.
07:37Who wants to ask?
07:37Russia will Yummy.
07:39Georgia will值 your body.
07:40DLC is safe.
07:41All right.
07:42We'll see you learn.
07:43It's a robust situation.
07:43That was very, very difficult to see you and in this event.
07:45How does it Aquí go to?
07:46l
