00:00Another team that was on the outside looking in was Texas and Steve Sarkisian.
00:05Three losses on the regular season.
00:07He'll say, if you ask Coach Sark, they're not going to schedule teams like Ohio State.
00:12I don't think that was the problem, Coach.
00:14Problem was, they were a much better home team than they were on the road, right?
00:19They could beat teams in Austin, couldn't beat them,
00:21and struggled in very difficult road environments.
00:25When you look at this team with Arch Manning,
00:27now you're number two in the scheming system, right, as a starter.
00:32Can Arch elevate this team potentially if they just have, let's just say,
00:37adequate talent and not elite talent?
00:39Could this team get to the college football playoff?
00:42Well, first of all, I think it's almost an impossibility for Texas not to have elite talent.
00:47They picked up Cam, the quarterback from Auburn, Cam Coleman.
00:54Cam Coleman picked up one of the best.
00:55Wide receiver, yeah.
00:56They picked up one of the best wide receivers in football.
00:59I think they're going to have great talent.
01:01And I was of the opinion at the end of the year, especially when they beat Michigan,
01:05that Arch Manning has now developed and matured to be that guy that can lead his team to the championship.
01:12He wasn't there at the beginning of last season.
01:14I think he ended the season where they wanted him to be.
01:17So I see Texas, and they will have talent.
01:20They will find they have money to get the talent.
01:23And I think Arch will give them a chance.
01:26And hopefully, for their sake, they won't be ranked number one.
01:29They'll be ranked somewhere in the top ten.
01:32But I do think Texas, because they are so committed to NIL money-wise bringing in great talent,
01:38and with Arch Manning now maturing to a contender that he is, that they will be a much better football team next year.
01:45Yeah, and he did the right decision.
01:47I don't think he was NFL ready, you know, to get, excuse me, one, you know, season under his belt.
01:54Now in year number two, you would have to think sky is the limit for Arch Manning.
01:59And we'll see exactly how explosive Texas is.
02:02They did struggle, Coach, to run the football in consistent games.
02:06And that's the main reason why they did lose three in the regular season.
02:10When they had success making the college football playoff two years ago,
02:14and when they lost to Ohio State, they were much more consistent with the offensive line.
02:18And the running backs, we'll see how it plays out this year.
02:21I do want to ask you about your former team back in the day, Goalish with Auburn.
02:26Could he turn it around in year number one?
02:28I know you've been to a number of games this year.
02:31Can Auburn get back to respectability and more importantly,
02:34maybe a college football playoff in the next couple of seasons?
02:37Yeah, you know, I think they did.
02:39They did some things that I did when I went to Auburn.
02:41We turned things around.
02:42He kept the defensive coordinator, D.J. Durkin.
02:44Durkin had one of the best defenses in the conference.
02:47He's still in place.
02:48He'll be able to build on his success.
02:51He's brought his entire offensive staff from South Florida and the quarterback.
02:55And I think they are way ahead in preparation for next year.
02:59And so Auburn, I think, is in place now.
03:01And a tough-minded, blue-collar football coach
03:04that they're going to be back in the hunt this year.
