00:00:30Hi Pepsters! Happy Tuesday to everyone! I'm Rachel.
00:01:00Hi Pepsters! And I'm Bernie. Very special ang guest natin this evening because ang makakasama natin ay fresh from his success.
00:01:12Let's get to know more about this model turned actor and now a certified lawyer.
00:01:19Please welcome, attorney, Luke GK!
00:01:25Hello to the viewers and to Pep. Thank you for inviting me to your show.
00:01:34Grabe! Siyempre, first of all, congratulations Luke for passing the bar.
00:01:44Thank you. Thank you very much. Until now, medyo nagsisink in pa rin eh. Medyo parang state, nasa state of shock pa rin until now.
00:01:54Luke, anong feeling kapag tinatawag ang attorney?
00:01:58O nga eh, parang it's a bit new. Parang I would tell people, just call me Luke. Okay lang yan. Then I'll have to call me attorney. Okay lang yan.
00:02:11Ayun. Ayun. May mga nag-correct na, oo nga naman, sorry, happy Wednesday na nga pala today. Grabe, parang ang bilis kasi na panahon. Nag-start na haagad yung, kaka-start lang ng January, half of the month na haagad tayo.
00:02:26Oo. At ang ganda nung sa lubong ng New Year, ano, for Luke, kasi he passed the bar exams on his first take. Kasi it's one of the hardest exams in the Philippines. Di ba?
00:02:38At ito yung mga balitang nakita natin for the past few days, no? Talagang pinag-uusapan. Kasi sino yung mga nakapasa nung lumabas yung exam?
00:02:45At isa ka talaga dun sa mga nakita natin sa balita na mga showbiz-related personalities na, wow, nakapag-take ng exam.
00:02:55So yan. Bago natin pag-usapan yung look, no? Siyempre, meron muna tayong icebreaker game.
00:03:03Okay.
00:03:04May lada.
00:03:07Yan. So, siyempre, ang pep challenge natin ay this or that.
00:03:11Okay.
00:03:17Yan. Very chill lang tayo. Ang gagawin na natin meron tayong questions for look. Tapos, i-share lang niya yung sagot.
00:03:24Then, pwede kang makwento kahit kontek, bakit yun yung napili mo, no? Pero basically, more of, you know, pang ano na talaga, icebreaker.
00:03:30Right.
00:03:31Are you ready?
00:03:33Ready.
00:03:34Okay.
00:03:35Okay.
00:03:35Number one, this or that?
00:03:40Facebook or Instagram?
00:03:42Rock.
00:03:42Rock.
00:03:43Facebook.
00:03:44Kasi parang, parang feeling ko, I'm part of that older generation. So, Facebook pa rin.
00:03:52Well, I try to use Instagram, pero not so much. Pero just to make myself a little relevant, that's why I post.
00:04:01Pero parang, until yung post sa Instagram, it's not a lot of pictures.
00:04:05Pero, I use Facebook regularly, especially connecting to old friends.
00:04:12Pero public profile yung Facebook mo.
00:04:16No.
00:04:17Parang, no?
00:04:19Ah, both naman.
00:04:20Parang, both naman.
00:04:20Parang, both naman.
00:04:20Public, yes, ma'am.
00:04:22Ayan.
00:04:23Okay, next.
00:04:25Okay, second question.
00:04:26Look.
00:04:27Beach or mountain?
00:04:29Beach.
00:04:29I've tried trekking once, pero parang, it's not for me. Parang, mas gusto ko yung lazy. I just wanna sit down. I just wanna drink juice or cocktail. So, I'm more of a beach person. And ever since, I like going to the beach.
00:04:51Wow.
00:04:51Ano, favorite beach mo?
00:04:53Boracay.
00:04:55Boracay.
00:04:56Siyempre, no? Very laid back and shit lang palaga.
00:04:59Pero, look, are you comfortable, more comfortable with a crowd? Or mas gusto mo yung konti yung tao?
00:05:08When I go to Boracay, my sister-in-law has a place there. So, it's at station one. So, it's medyo, it's not secluded, pero relevantly lesser people than other sections of the island. So, I guess, okay lang ako doon.
00:05:28Ah, so, may private residential area din din.
00:05:32And, no, they have a resort.
00:05:36Ah, resort. Okay. So, you get to enjoy naman yung place. So, manapigyan kayo ng opportunity. Okay, hindi na tayo sa area na medyo konting tao.
00:05:47So, grabe naman. So, anong ano yun? I-plug natin. Anong resort yun?
00:05:52A White House, Boracay.
00:05:55Ayan, White House, Boracay.
00:05:57Baka makita nyo si Luke dyan sa White House.
00:06:00Okay, next. This or that?
00:06:04This or that?
00:06:06Lalabas ba sa ating screen?
00:06:08May delay na po ante.
00:06:10Pian, ano nangyayari? Sports or work out?
00:06:16Work out na lang. Kasi I used to love sports. But due to aging, sports doesn't like me anymore. So, work out na lang.
00:06:27Pero what are your sports before?
00:06:29Ah, I used to play American football, then flag football, and basketball. I play golf. And I do, I can't do long marathons kasi parang beaten up na yung body ko from the trainings.
00:06:48But I do mga fun runs before. I enjoy them.
00:06:52And then you're working on that?
00:06:53Ngayon, hindi na fun yung fun run, eh. Para na siyang, ano, agony run for me.
00:07:00How old are you na ba?
00:07:02Grabe naman yung aging.
00:07:04Grabe naman, 31 pa lang, eh.
00:07:0641.
00:07:0841!
00:07:09Ay, okay. So, kaya medyo ramdaman ako.
00:07:12Parang relate ka mo.
00:07:13Nakarelate ako.
00:07:15Nakarelate ako, my gosh.
00:07:17Tama, tama naman yan.
00:07:18So, ang workout mo ngayon, paano na ang workout with you?
00:07:21Um, my workout routine.
00:07:24So, before going to the office, I wake up really, really early.
00:07:27I try to do a quick workout before going to the office.
00:07:31So, at least nasa gym na ako ng a little before 6 or 6.
00:07:35And then finish by, kasi yung gym was, the gym is really close to the office.
00:07:43So, parang ano lang siya, 5 minutes away.
00:07:46So, at least afternoon, go straight to the office and work.
00:07:49And then, um, if I have extra time, I like to do walkings at UP Oval.
00:07:58So, that area.
00:07:59So, it's one of my favorite places in the world.
00:08:03So, um, yun lang.
00:08:05And, uh, walking my dog.
00:08:07So, those three are my main workouts.
00:08:11Okay.
00:08:11Ang convenient, no?
00:08:13Ano yung dog mo?
00:08:14Anong breed?
00:08:15Pitbull.
00:08:16So, they're not really fond of walking far.
00:08:20So, mga dalawang kanto lang pagod na sila.
00:08:23So, okay lang.
00:08:24So, hindi pwede masyado yung dalhin kapag mag-walking.
00:08:29Kasi, Oval, ang laki ng UP.
00:08:31Diba?
00:08:33Ayan, marami na tayong mga nakasubaybay.
00:08:36Hello, Pink and Bernie.
00:08:37Hi, attorney cutie.
00:08:38At sabi ni King kanina, ipagtambol mo po ako.
00:08:43Oh my gosh.
00:08:44More on that later, no?
00:08:46Ayan.
00:08:46So, ito.
00:08:47This or that?
00:08:52Modeling or showbiz?
00:08:54Um, parang may magtatampo kung may isasagot ako.
00:09:01Pero, in my heart, I owe Allah to, especially where I am now, to showbiz.
00:09:07Kasi, it helped me become not too shy.
00:09:12Kasi, shy guy ako eh.
00:09:13So, when I was doing workshops and I was doing teleserye, parang it helped me become more
00:09:24expressive and it helped me in law school.
00:09:27So, I think, from where I am now, showbiz helped me a lot.
00:09:32Especially, we all know naman na we memorize lines.
00:09:36So, in law school, it's the same.
00:09:38You memorize laws, jurisprudence.
00:09:40And medyo, we developed that skill to memorize.
00:09:44So, it kind of helped me.
00:09:46So, I owe a lot to showbiz.
00:09:49No, maybe small look on showbiz.
00:09:51Um, yes.
00:09:56But, uh, I work for the government.
00:10:02So, I love both.
00:10:04Pero, I think right now, um, uh, the sector where I belong kind of need all the help they
00:10:13can get.
00:10:14But, uh, but if there would be opportunities back in showbiz, why not?
00:10:19Pero, bahadapat Saturday and Sunday kasi si HR chicheck niyo.
00:10:24Weekday yun na.
00:10:26Pero walang conflict.
00:10:29Yes.
00:10:29Oh, or after work.
00:10:31Pwede naman.
00:10:31Pwede naman after work.
00:10:32After office hours.
00:10:35Okay.
00:10:36Uh, this or that?
00:10:42Studies or work?
00:10:43Work kasi yung studies parang you're not gonna get paid.
00:10:49Work, you'll get paid.
00:10:50So, doon na ka sa work.
00:10:52Real talk lang, di ba?
00:10:55Siyempre.
00:10:55Tayo yung nag-aral para tayo yung mas magkaroon ng opportunities, no?
00:10:59Hopefully.
00:11:00Parang sinasabi nito.
00:11:02Go ahead.
00:11:03Um, may traumatic experience kasi with studying.
00:11:08Kasi it took me eight years to finish my undergrad.
00:11:11Tapos, kasi four-year course, I finish it in eight years.
00:11:17So, hyper-extended.
00:11:19Tapos, yung law school, it's a four-year course.
00:11:21I finish it in six years.
00:11:23So, another hyper-extended studying for me.
00:11:29So, parang pagod na ako, eh.
00:11:31Work na ako.
00:11:34Parang gusto kong sabi nila ko, tapos na ako dyan, ah.
00:11:37Yun na tayo sa babayaran na tayo.
00:11:39Parang gano'n na siya.
00:11:41Ayan.
00:11:42So, mas malalaman natin mamaya ang story behind that, no?
00:11:45Mayroon pa ba tayong this or that?
00:11:47Yun na yun.
00:11:48Yun last.
00:11:49Ayan.
00:11:50So, syempre medyo nagkaroon na tayo ng konting pa-teaser, no?
00:11:54Kung ano yung pag-uusapan natin today, syempre.
00:11:56Pero ito, umpisahan na kagad natin.
00:12:01Paano mo ba, you were a model and you were a celebrity for a time, no?
00:12:07And then, bakit mo biglang naisip na to quit showbiz?
00:12:13Anong nangyari?
00:12:14May nangyari ba prior to that decision?
00:12:18I really have to put things down.
00:12:22Kasi I realize na I'm entering law school and I'm not really the studious guy.
00:12:31I'm more of the athletic guy kasi in college.
00:12:34So, I have to put in a lot of work.
00:12:37And I realize na I cannot do both.
00:12:40So, I have to choose one.
00:12:42And we all know naman, when we're filming, it takes a lot of time.
00:12:48So, sometimes we shoot for 24 hours and I don't think it will work.
00:12:55Kasi what I do when I was, especially in my first year,
00:13:01my first time in first year, I study mga 14 hours a day.
00:13:05As in, talagang I really put in the R.
00:13:09So, I don't think if I have other activities, parang hindi siya mag-work.
00:13:16So, I really have to choose one.
00:13:19And I'm glad na tama naman yung decision because I was able to pass the bar.
00:13:26Okay.
00:13:29Okay.
00:13:29Okay, Luke, before my next question, ano yung undergraduate course mo?
00:13:37Marketing.
00:13:38I graduate marketing.
00:13:40But yung first course ko talaga is economics.
00:13:42When I saw na madaming math, parang, parang di ko kaya to.
00:13:47So, I shifted to marketing.
00:13:51And then I finished my, yes.
00:13:53You took that as knowing that you wanted to pursue lo eventually?
00:13:57I really wanted to be a lawyer since I was young.
00:14:02Pero the courage to pursue lo, that took a lot of time.
00:14:09Yung to master the courage to enroll.
00:14:12Kasi during that time, parang,
00:14:15not naman a lot of people from the showbiz industry
00:14:20cross over to the legal profession.
00:14:23And parang, may konti, may konti.
00:14:29I know a few.
00:14:31So, and I saw naman na they're doing good.
00:14:35So, it inspired me also to pursue lo.
00:14:42When was that time when you finally found that courage
00:14:47na simulan mo na yung journey mo to taking up lo?
00:14:53I graduated college 2009.
00:14:57Nag-enter ako sa law school 2019.
00:14:59So, it's 10 years mastering the courage
00:15:04and convincing myself,
00:15:06sige na, it's now or never.
00:15:09Nung finally medyo, I was able to convince myself.
00:15:14It was 2019 na.
00:15:16So, for between that time,
00:15:20so you left showbiz at what year?
00:15:25Could be 2017.
00:15:27Kasi 2018,
00:15:29I was supposed to enter law school 2018,
00:15:36but then I did not know there's this national entrance exam for law school
00:15:41na shocked me na,
00:15:45ah, there's such a thing.
00:15:47So, they asked me to wait for another year for me to enroll.
00:15:52So, the following year, I got it,
00:15:54presented to them,
00:15:55ah, no need na yan, sir.
00:15:56I was like, ha?
00:15:57You asked me to wait for a year,
00:16:00but I guess okay lang din.
00:16:02I mean, it all played out eventually.
00:16:06Kasi imagine if I took the bar last year,
00:16:09it's quite hard,
00:16:13last year.
00:16:14But now, it's still hard,
00:16:15but nicer.
00:16:19And then,
00:16:20bakit,
00:16:21yung four-year course,
00:16:22you mentioned earlier na
00:16:24it took a long time
00:16:25before you got to finish it.
00:16:27I really don't know.
00:16:29It seems to me na
00:16:31I'm really enjoying college.
00:16:32I like playing on the field.
00:16:35I like hanging out with my friends.
00:16:37I like
00:16:37just
00:16:38parang
00:16:40being
00:16:41like a student.
00:16:44Pero,
00:16:45I realized na
00:16:46everybody's calling me Kuya.
00:16:48Ah,
00:16:49I need to
00:16:50wait na yata.
00:16:52Step up.
00:16:53Oh my gosh.
00:16:54Kuya na eh.
00:16:55Kuya, look.
00:16:56Ah, okay.
00:16:59Look,
00:16:59what school did you go to
00:17:01nung undergraduate studies?
00:17:02My undergrad,
00:17:03I went to
00:17:05San Veda,
00:17:06college,
00:17:07now,
00:17:07university,
00:17:09and
00:17:09for
00:17:10law school,
00:17:11Aureliano.
00:17:14So,
00:17:15you built,
00:17:15huh?
00:17:17So,
00:17:18look,
00:17:18can you
00:17:19describe to us
00:17:21your life
00:17:21as a
00:17:22student
00:17:22when you went back
00:17:23when you took up law?
00:17:26Kamusta yung
00:17:27crowd,
00:17:28classmates mo?
00:17:29Was it
00:17:30intimidating?
00:17:31By the way,
00:17:32I mentioned pala na
00:17:35I took my
00:17:36first three years
00:17:37of law school
00:17:39at University of Asia
00:17:40in the Pacific
00:17:40and then
00:17:42I took my fourth year
00:17:43at Aureliano.
00:17:44So,
00:17:45going back
00:17:47to your
00:17:47question,
00:17:48those are
00:17:56students in UNP,
00:17:58they're so smart.
00:17:59So,
00:18:00it pushed me
00:18:05to study more.
00:18:06what else?
00:18:12I realized
00:18:13that they're young,
00:18:15tapos ako,
00:18:15I entered
00:18:17at a
00:18:17much
00:18:18older age,
00:18:19pero
00:18:19there are
00:18:20few naman
00:18:20na
00:18:21older than me.
00:18:22So,
00:18:24pero
00:18:25more than that,
00:18:27I tried to
00:18:27prepare myself
00:18:28for law school.
00:18:30I think
00:18:32six months
00:18:33or eight months
00:18:34prior to
00:18:35enrolling
00:18:36to law school,
00:18:38I'm reading
00:18:40my old
00:18:41college law books.
00:18:42So,
00:18:43just to
00:18:44familiarize
00:18:48myself
00:18:48with the laws,
00:18:50but then
00:18:51college law
00:18:53subjects
00:18:54and law school
00:18:55subjects
00:18:56are so far.
00:18:58pero okay na rin,
00:18:59at least I was able
00:19:00to brush up
00:19:01on a little
00:19:02constitution,
00:19:04obligations
00:19:04and contracts,
00:19:05sales,
00:19:06so stuff like that.
00:19:08Ayun,
00:19:08parang yung
00:19:09you were saying
00:19:09kanina,
00:19:10ano ko lang,
00:19:11i-highlight po
00:19:12na your
00:19:13classmates
00:19:14at University
00:19:15of Asia
00:19:15in the Pacific
00:19:16are smart.
00:19:18And so,
00:19:19as a student,
00:19:22paano ka ba?
00:19:24Like,
00:19:24are you
00:19:25a student
00:19:26or parang
00:19:28hindi kayong
00:19:28mahilig mag-aral
00:19:30na talagang
00:19:30aral to the max?
00:19:32I'm more
00:19:33of the athletic
00:19:34type eh,
00:19:35so I would like
00:19:35to always
00:19:37play sports,
00:19:38train,
00:19:40pero
00:19:40studying
00:19:42way back
00:19:43in college,
00:19:43just enough
00:19:44for me
00:19:44to pass.
00:19:45I think
00:19:46that's about
00:19:46the bare
00:19:48minimum.
00:19:49So,
00:19:50when I
00:19:51saw my
00:19:52classmates
00:19:53at UANP,
00:19:54oh my god,
00:19:55they're so smart.
00:19:56So,
00:19:57I tried to,
00:19:57I tried to
00:19:58catch up.
00:19:59Nakat-up naman.
00:20:00So,
00:20:02when did you
00:20:02learn that
00:20:02discipline?
00:20:03Kasi sa law,
00:20:04well,
00:20:05talagang
00:20:05mag-aaral
00:20:06ng laws niya,
00:20:08may babasa ka,
00:20:09hindi pwedeng,
00:20:10parang
00:20:10wala lang,
00:20:11marami
00:20:11memorization,
00:20:12di ba?
00:20:14I learned that
00:20:14in sports.
00:20:16So,
00:20:16I tried to
00:20:17incalculate
00:20:18the discipline
00:20:18I had
00:20:19when I was
00:20:20playing sports
00:20:21to law school.
00:20:23So,
00:20:23I tried to
00:20:24manage my time,
00:20:26manage my energy.
00:20:28So,
00:20:29since hindi naman ako
00:20:30yung sobrang
00:20:31smart guy in class,
00:20:34so,
00:20:34I had to
00:20:35work harder
00:20:37than my classmates.
00:20:38So,
00:20:38when I was in
00:20:39first year,
00:20:41until mga second year,
00:20:42I used to study
00:20:4314 hours a day.
00:20:44So,
00:20:44I sleep a little,
00:20:46I study.
00:20:47Tapos,
00:20:47on the days
00:20:50na there's no class,
00:20:51ano yun,
00:20:52from early,
00:20:53early in the morning
00:20:54until
00:20:54midnight.
00:20:56So,
00:20:56that was
00:20:58my life.
00:20:58And then,
00:20:59on top of that,
00:21:00after the
00:21:01finals exams,
00:21:02I'll just sleep
00:21:03for 10 days
00:21:04and then
00:21:06I'll study
00:21:07for the next
00:21:08semester.
00:21:09So,
00:21:09I made sure
00:21:09na before
00:21:10the semester
00:21:11started,
00:21:12in my mind,
00:21:13I'm done
00:21:14with the
00:21:15subject.
00:21:17Pero,
00:21:18in my mind lang,
00:21:19pero,
00:21:20I still have
00:21:22to put in
00:21:22a lot of work.
00:21:23Pero,
00:21:24at least,
00:21:24I'm not
00:21:25coming,
00:21:25I'm not
00:21:26starting
00:21:26from zero.
00:21:28So,
00:21:29when the
00:21:29semester
00:21:30comes,
00:21:31I'm pretty
00:21:32much
00:21:33covered
00:21:34on a lot
00:21:36of
00:21:36topics.
00:21:37I find
00:21:41that fascinating.
00:21:42Yung
00:21:42discipline mo
00:21:43sa sports,
00:21:44inapply
00:21:44mo siya
00:21:45sa studies
00:21:46mo,
00:21:46parang,
00:21:47ako nga
00:21:47naman,
00:21:48no?
00:21:48Medyo,
00:21:49ano lang,
00:21:50my friends
00:21:50did that
00:21:51take it
00:21:51well,
00:21:51kasi all
00:21:52of the
00:21:53binyags,
00:21:53birthdays,
00:21:54weddings,
00:21:55reunions,
00:21:57I said
00:21:57no.
00:21:58And then,
00:22:01someone
00:22:01would say,
00:22:01hindi ba
00:22:01vacation
00:22:02ngayon?
00:22:03Ba't
00:22:03nag-aaral ka?
00:22:05I said ko,
00:22:05kasi I need
00:22:06to prepare
00:22:06myself for
00:22:07the next
00:22:08semester.
00:22:09And then,
00:22:10on top of
00:22:10those,
00:22:11I would
00:22:12still get
00:22:12a bare
00:22:13minimum
00:22:13passing
00:22:14grade.
00:22:14So,
00:22:15I thought,
00:22:16baka
00:22:17tama lang
00:22:17for me.
00:22:18But,
00:22:18I'm not
00:22:18advising it
00:22:19to those
00:22:20listening,
00:22:21don't follow
00:22:22what I'm
00:22:22saying,
00:22:23kasi it's
00:22:23really exhausting,
00:22:24kasi you
00:22:25need the
00:22:25time to
00:22:25rest.
00:22:26Ako kasi
00:22:27medyo,
00:22:27ano ko eh,
00:22:29medyo,
00:22:32I like to
00:22:32prove
00:22:33myself kasi.
00:22:34So,
00:22:35I really
00:22:36have to
00:22:36do all
00:22:36those.
00:22:38I think,
00:22:39ang insight
00:22:39dyan,
00:22:40na natutunan
00:22:41ko dito
00:22:41sa kwento
00:22:42ni
00:22:42ni
00:22:43ni
00:22:43Luke,
00:22:43ay yung,
00:22:44kasi sinasabi
00:22:45mo nga na,
00:22:46ay,
00:22:46parang very
00:22:46humble siya na,
00:22:47hindi siya
00:22:48ganun kasing
00:22:49smart na
00:22:49mga,
00:22:49pero actually,
00:22:51yung pagiging
00:22:51hardworking,
00:22:53perseverance
00:22:53niya,
00:22:54and yung,
00:22:55kasi
00:22:56to all
00:22:57the other
00:22:57stuff,
00:22:58it's part
00:22:58of that
00:22:59discipline eh,
00:22:59hindi,
00:23:00hindi nga meron kang
00:23:01masasacrifice,
00:23:03or may maa
00:23:04sa'yo,
00:23:04dahil,
00:23:05alam mo kung
00:23:06anong gusto mo,
00:23:07meron kang
00:23:07goal,
00:23:08na target.
00:23:11Yes,
00:23:12um,
00:23:13I,
00:23:13I really
00:23:14think also
00:23:15na,
00:23:15if,
00:23:17um,
00:23:18you're
00:23:20not the
00:23:20sharpest tool
00:23:21in the shed,
00:23:22uh,
00:23:23might as well
00:23:23do all
00:23:24the effort,
00:23:25so,
00:23:26that's my
00:23:26mentality,
00:23:27so,
00:23:27if I,
00:23:28I'll make
00:23:29sure na,
00:23:30I work
00:23:31harder than
00:23:31the,
00:23:32uh,
00:23:33than the
00:23:33rest.
00:23:35Wow,
00:23:36very inspiring
00:23:37yan.
00:23:37Actually.
00:23:39Kasi di ba,
00:23:39hindi naman
00:23:39kailangan
00:23:40automatic,
00:23:40baka yung iba
00:23:41kasi nai-intimidate
00:23:42na ay,
00:23:42ayaw akong maglo
00:23:43kasi baka
00:23:43mga,
00:23:44ang super,
00:23:45super,
00:23:46pang talino na
00:23:47overachiever yan,
00:23:48pero actually,
00:23:50nasa ano din talaga,
00:23:51yung willpower mo,
00:23:52what you want.
00:23:52The grid,
00:23:53o,
00:23:53no.
00:23:54And pwede kang
00:23:54matututunan,
00:23:55wala namang,
00:23:56alam mo na agad
00:23:57yung lo,
00:23:58di ba?
00:23:59Ayan.
00:24:00And this is,
00:24:01ano,
00:24:01look is the
00:24:01living proof
00:24:03of that,
00:24:03no?
00:24:04Na.
00:24:05Correct.
00:24:05If you consider
00:24:06yourself average,
00:24:08average or?
00:24:09As in,
00:24:10average lang talaga.
00:24:11If you would
00:24:12see my grades
00:24:14in law school,
00:24:17puro 75 lang yan.
00:24:20I rarely get
00:24:21a high grade,
00:24:23as in,
00:24:23very rare.
00:24:25But enough
00:24:26for me to pass.
00:24:27Okay na rin.
00:24:27I'm not naman
00:24:28dreaming to be
00:24:29an honor student
00:24:30or valedictorian
00:24:32or cum laude.
00:24:33I'm okay to pass.
00:24:35At the end of the day,
00:24:36I want to
00:24:39please myself
00:24:40and not other people.
00:24:42Basta pumasa ako,
00:24:42I'm really happy.
00:24:43Parang ako yung
00:24:44pinakamataas na grade
00:24:45pag pumasa ako.
00:24:48Yung,
00:24:48yung ano kasi yung,
00:24:50yung 75 sa law school
00:24:52is equivalent to three.
00:24:55So puro three
00:24:56grade ko.
00:24:58So,
00:24:58parang Steph Curry
00:25:00puro three.
00:25:02As in,
00:25:02lahat three,
00:25:03sabi ko.
00:25:03But okay na rin.
00:25:04At least at the end
00:25:05of the day,
00:25:06nakapasa.
00:25:07So,
00:25:08okay na rin.
00:25:08Okay na rin yun.
00:25:10Correct.
00:25:11So,
00:25:11anong pakiramdam mo
00:25:12nung graduate ka na?
00:25:13Oh my gosh,
00:25:14ang paghihirap ko.
00:25:15Last year lang yun,
00:25:162025, right?
00:25:18Yes,
00:25:18June 2025.
00:25:23Well,
00:25:24it's,
00:25:24it's a big
00:25:26accomplishment
00:25:27for me.
00:25:29Let's say
00:25:29I did not pass
00:25:30the bar
00:25:31but I was able
00:25:32to graduate.
00:25:33It's still a big
00:25:34accomplishment
00:25:34kasi
00:25:35in law school
00:25:38you have
00:25:40to study
00:25:41just to survive
00:25:44the day
00:25:44and you have
00:25:46to make
00:25:48good on those
00:25:49days to survive
00:25:50the week
00:25:50and you have
00:25:51to survive
00:25:52the months
00:25:53and you have
00:25:53to pass
00:25:54the semester
00:25:55and then you
00:25:56have to pass
00:25:57the semesters
00:25:57so you can
00:25:58graduate.
00:26:00So,
00:26:00ano siya,
00:26:00parang a lot
00:26:02of,
00:26:03ano siya,
00:26:03sacrifice and
00:26:04effort
00:26:05plus
00:26:06passing the bar
00:26:08so
00:26:08I'm really happy.
00:26:10Pero,
00:26:11let's say
00:26:12I did not
00:26:13I'm still
00:26:13forgiving
00:26:15to myself
00:26:15and would
00:26:16still feel
00:26:17na I have
00:26:18accomplished
00:26:19because
00:26:19it's not
00:26:20easy to
00:26:21study law
00:26:22eh.
00:26:23For some
00:26:24okay yun
00:26:26pero
00:26:26to guys
00:26:27like me
00:26:27it's
00:26:28a
00:26:30daily
00:26:31agony
00:26:31na we
00:26:32have to
00:26:32endure.
00:26:35Okay,
00:26:35so ito
00:26:36nagraduate ka
00:26:36last year
00:26:37so you
00:26:38got into
00:26:39a

00:26:40agency

00:26:41Luke
00:26:41sa
00:26:42Department
00:26:42of
00:26:43Agriculture
00:26:44so
00:26:44paano
00:26:45ka napasok
00:26:45sa
00:26:45DA?
00:26:48There
00:26:49is a
00:26:49friend
00:26:50who
00:26:51asked me
00:26:52for a
00:26:52favor
00:26:53kasi
00:26:54he wants
00:26:55to
00:26:55inquire
00:26:56so
00:26:57I
00:26:57went
00:26:58there
00:26:58to
00:26:59inquire
00:26:59for
00:26:59my
00:27:00friend
00:27:00and
00:27:01then
00:27:02my
00:27:02friend
00:27:04whom
00:27:04I
00:27:05inquired
00:27:05sa
00:27:06Department
00:27:06of
00:27:06Agriculture
00:27:07said
00:27:08na
00:27:08ikaw
00:27:09mag
00:27:10apply
00:27:10dito
00:27:10sabi ko
00:27:11well
00:27:12hindi pa
00:27:15kasi ako
00:27:15graduate
00:27:16and
00:27:17although
00:27:17I'm
00:27:17taking up
00:27:18law
00:27:18pero
00:27:19I
00:27:19don't
00:27:20think
00:27:20I
00:27:20can
00:27:21I
00:27:21can't
00:27:22kasi
00:27:22I'm
00:27:24not
00:27:24if you're
00:27:25gonna put
00:27:26me as
00:27:26a legal
00:27:26officer
00:27:27I'm
00:27:28not even
00:27:28a
00:27:29lawyer
00:27:29I
00:27:29haven't
00:27:30graduated
00:27:32so
00:27:32I
00:27:33might
00:27:33not
00:27:34be
00:27:34fit
00:27:34for
00:27:35the
00:27:35job
00:27:35and
00:27:36then
00:27:36my
00:27:37friend
00:27:37said
00:27:37you
00:27:38know
00:27:38why
00:27:39don't
00:27:39you
00:27:39try
00:27:40if
00:27:41you
00:27:42can't

00:29:00I'm not so sure because in law school, we have to study all. We don't really have a specialization, but I see where he's coming from.
00:29:27After bar, I think I'll focus on constitution law. Since I'm part of the department, I would like to enforce the constitution, of course, especially to the farmers and fisher folks who should be vested by all the favors.
00:29:51Those who have less in life should have more in law. So we should try to implement that.
00:29:57Attorney, what do you think? Because I see or we know that the farmers are very cheap for the Filipinos.
00:30:06The imports are very expensive. What do you see or what do you observe to improve the system?
00:30:16That's the office handling that is, I think, Philippine rice. But from how I see it, there are many factors that contribute to the prices.
00:30:35So, of course, supply and demand, that's number one. And then we're always hit by typhoons. So, like last year, for some weird reason, there are many typhoons.
00:30:47And that collectively, it plays a part on the price. But to really stabilize the prices, it should be a concerted effort by the department, the LGUs, even the private sector.
00:31:08sector. So, I believe when everybody work together, we can achieve that. But the most immediate is to really monitor the supply and demand.
00:31:21Because that's the law of economics. It's something that's governing the price.
00:31:28So, in the DA, the particular day-to-day workload, the focus is on an attorney?
00:31:38Logistics. Logistics. My office po is Agricultural Fisheries and Fisheries Logistics Office, AFLO.
00:31:48So, we are mandated to make the logistics efficient.
00:31:57And then, hopefully, if we are able to do that, then we can have a stable supply of food.
00:32:13Kasi kung mawawalan yung isang part ng food, yun na naman, supply and demand naman, economics.
00:32:20So, there's no really getting away from that. So, the best way is to really have a good process of moving things around.
00:32:31So, yun yung office namin.
00:32:34Okay. Ako, curious ako, look, no? In totality, how will you describe your experience as a government worker?
00:32:43Is it a lot of stress? Is it manageable? Kamusta yung mga kasamahan?
00:32:49Kasi may certain reputation yung ibang, ano na, yung ibang government agencies.
00:32:57Pero in your case, kamusta yung experience mo?
00:33:00Our office kasi, we're more of the policy and oversight.
00:33:07So, we're doing a lot of policies. We're developing guidelines.
00:33:13So, we're not really hands-on, per se, to the day-to-day operations.
00:33:22But we're more of the oversight. And from my experience with my office mates, shout out to my office mates.
00:33:33They are so cooperative.
00:33:37So, every time somebody would ask me, na, who would we follow up to, through, if you are, ano, taking your bar exam.
00:33:50I'm saying, ask any guy in my office because we work together.
00:33:53So, everybody knows the whole system. So, you can ask anybody. And we help each other. So, that's one good thing about our office, na, really work.
00:34:09Plus, siguro kasi konti lang kami. We're 15, I think, in the office. It's a really small office lang talaga.
00:34:18And look, grabe, sobrang different. Nung working in a government, and then from being a celebrity, na, exposed ka sa lahat.
00:34:28Pano yun? Pano yung adjustment? Or, can you share yung experience na pano yung...
00:34:33It's quite different, especially in showbiz or...
00:34:40Pwede naman, really, in showbiz. Especially in modeling, na, very glamorous, everything. So, social.
00:34:48So, I remember my first day at DA, I asked my office mate, kung, where will we eat lunch?
00:34:57And, sabi niya, sa Gedli, sa ko, what's Gedli?
00:35:02I was like, ah, okay, okay, okay, yun. So, until now, that's my favorite lunch place do kami sa, si Giled, outside DA.
00:35:12Um... Safe to meet.
00:35:14Oh my God! Ang garing.
00:35:16And then, if, um, kung whereas before, nang mga nakaka-meet mo ay mga celebrities sa mga events,
00:35:23ngayon, sino na yung mga kinaka-usap ninyo sa office?
00:35:26Or yung kapag when you go out in your field first?
00:35:29We, I don't know, we talk to, of course, the farmers, fisher folks,
00:35:33the regional field offices, the attached bureaus, agencies.
00:35:38So, it's so far from my old environment.
00:35:44Um, uh, this, this, uh, job I have now.
00:35:49Uh, it's really, ano, something humble.
00:35:52But then, you'll feel the, the difference, uh, directly to the people.
00:35:59Kasi, you're, you're direct na with them eh.
00:36:02So, nakataba ng puso.
00:36:04Although, sa modeling nakataba lang siya na wallet.
00:36:07The joke lang.
00:36:08Yung na.
00:36:13Pero yun nga, meron ka bang na-meet na farmer or anybody dun sa field work mo
00:36:19na talagang striking yung naging conversation mo,
00:36:22na mas lalo kang na-inspired to do what you're doing now?
00:36:25Like, eye-opener, ganun.
00:36:27Uh, in 2014, fairly new pala ako sa department.
00:36:33We went to Municipality of Miagao at Iloilo.
00:36:39Tapos, we talked to the, uh, Farmers Cooperative Association for purposes of signing the MOA.
00:36:48So, we have to explain to them.
00:36:50Ito po ay grant.
00:36:51Wala sa gobyerno.
00:36:53Libre po ito.
00:36:54Ito po yung magiging, uh, mga, uh, benefits na makukuha nyo by, by having this.
00:37:02Masustore nyo yung mga agricultural commodities nyo.
00:37:05We really have to explain it to them.
00:37:07Kasi, uh, we should understand na yung skill sets nila is different.
00:37:13Pag, ano, pagtil, pag-cultivate, diba, pag-harvest.
00:37:17So, yung specific skill set nila is not quite, uh, uh, at par dun sa technologies na, na we will, uh, we are introducing.
00:37:30Uh, I remember that time it was a cold storage facility.
00:37:33So, pero ano naman nila, na, na-catch naman nila agad.
00:37:40Ah, okay, so it would help our, our commodities to, uh, to extend its freshness.
00:37:46Ah, okay pala yan.
00:37:47Okay pala yan.
00:37:48So, you just have to, ano, uh, elaborate lang.
00:37:51But, uh, I see rin, uh, uh, the needs of the people.
00:37:58So, parang okay lang din pala nandito ako.
00:38:00So, parang nakatulong din.
00:38:02Oh, grabe yun.
00:38:03Kasi, ine-empower nyo sila kung paano mas mag-level up.
00:38:07Kasi, syempre sa ibang bansa, sobrang high-tech na sila sa army.
00:38:11Diba?
00:38:12I'm, I'm just listening to the stories and, uh, uh, reading, uh, what I see on, on the internet.
00:38:21Medyo advanced nga po. Correct.
00:38:23So, dun mo na kukuha yung purpose mo ngayon? Ano sa tingin mo yung, uh, being able to help them?
00:38:34Uh, that's one.
00:38:36And also, uh, getting old.
00:38:39I'm not too young anymore.
00:38:41Uh, during my, my younger years, my, uh, only dream is to date a beautiful woman and to get good work.
00:38:50Um, now, parang there's more meaning to my life.
00:38:56So, being able to help a lot.
00:38:58Especially now na, uh, I passed the bar and being admitted to the, to the, uh, bar.
00:39:05Uh, I think I'll be able to be in the position to help more.
00:39:10So far, um, that parang, okay yun for me.
00:39:15Parang, kahit shallow ako nung younger years.
00:39:18Katis, nagkakaroon naman ng meaning.
00:39:20Later on.
00:39:22Character development ng bongga ng bongga.
00:39:25It's like finding more, uh, it's like finding your purpose.
00:39:28So, look, um, ibig sabihin, while you were working, while you were working sa DA, you were, you were continuing your studies and your review.
00:39:39Yes.
00:39:40So pinagsasabihin mo talag, ang hirap na, ha?
00:39:43Kasi JO lang ako, eh.
00:39:45Our, our office kasi newly created.
00:39:47It's not yet part of the integral, uh, structure of the department.
00:39:51So, lahat kami JO.
00:39:53So, it's still, uh, it's, it's, it's, it's in the process kasi.
00:39:57So, uh, while waiting, so we have to just be JOs, uh, job orders, uh, at the meantime.
00:40:05Uh, so I really have to make good of my schedule.
00:40:10So, I have to, uh, come to the office early, para I can leave early.
00:40:18Tapos, I'll go home, take a bath, brush my teeth.
00:40:23Mag-aaral na ako sa sofa until I fall asleep.
00:40:25Kasi I really have to maximize my time.
00:40:28Parang every minute counts or every hour counts.
00:40:33Um, so if I can, um, save time and put that to my review, uh, I consider it as a good day.
00:40:42Pero pag medyo, uh, I lose time because of so many extracurricular activities.
00:40:48Of course, uh, uh, deep down, I feel bad kasi I should be studying for the bar.
00:40:53And also, since we're only 15 in the office, parang leaving the office is not okay for me.
00:41:05Um, I, I told them na I'll help as much as I can.
00:41:11Uh, so, uh, nag-absent lang ako yung week ng, ano, ng bar.
00:41:16Ay, the week before the bar, nagkasakit ako, so absent din ako.
00:41:21And I was able to review, and then the week of the bar.
00:41:24So, yun lang, uh, that's the only luxury I had during that time.
00:41:29Grabe ka!
00:41:31Wait lang, anong oras ka umalis nun sa office? Hanggang anong oras?
00:41:34Bago kayo.
00:41:35About 4 o'clock.
00:41:36Uh, I live at 4 and then I reach the house at 5.
00:41:39So, hag kong muning dog sa kapahin ko sa din.
00:41:42I take a shower din.
00:41:43Brush my teeth.
00:41:44Kasi, um, I was worried na, I keep on passing out without brushing my teeth.
00:41:50Baka magka cavities ako.
00:41:53So, yun lang.
00:41:55That's the first thing.
00:41:56Para at is tapos na.
00:41:57And then, uh, study until I pass out.
00:42:00Nagkakastiff neck nga ako eh.
00:42:01Kasi, eto dito sa chair ako nag-aral eh.
00:42:04So.
00:42:05Nakakatulog ka dito?
00:42:06Yeah.
00:42:07Anong oras ka nakakatulog usually?
00:42:10Uh, usually around 11.30, 12 midnight.
00:42:13And then I have to wake up, uh, around mga 4, 4.30 and then go to work.
00:42:19Krabing aga nung 4 a.m.
00:42:22Makakahiya naman daw sa iba na late ang start ng work.
00:42:27Parang we could only imagine yung how hard, uh, to keep up with that kind of schedule, no?
00:42:34Schedule, no?
00:42:35So, I saw a video of you, uh, Luke, no?
00:42:39Parang opening up about you being diagnosed with anxiety disorder.
00:42:45Disorder.
00:42:46Yes.
00:42:47It was during the time of pandemic.
00:42:49Kasi, um, pero prior to pandemic, um, I used to have episodes of anxiety.
00:42:55Um, pero it really manifested big time during the pandemic.
00:43:01Tapos, a weird part, nagmanifest lang siya.
00:43:04Pagtulog ako.
00:43:06So, bang nagigising ako na there's a extreme fear or pressure.
00:43:14Pero, actually, na-realize ko.
00:43:18When I finished law school, nawala siya.
00:43:21So, baka professors ko lang yung naghahant ng dreams ko, eh.
00:43:25So, yun.
00:43:27Ang kalala ka na na-apektohan ng schoolwork.
00:43:32Yun palang ibig sabihin kanila na na-apektohan ka during studying.
00:43:36Ay, yes.
00:43:37But more than that, uh, how law school kasi teaches, it's more of a Socratic method na they ask questions, rarely discuss.
00:43:49Pero kudos to, to Ariana.
00:43:51They, they do discuss a lot.
00:43:53Pero, well, ano na rin kasi ako doon eh.
00:43:58Uh, review subjects.
00:43:59But I, I, it, it, it, it helped me.
00:44:03Kasi, I want to ask.
00:44:05Pero, because of the manner of teaching.
00:44:08Uh, but, uh, I guess it's good rin kasi I, I see the value of it.
00:44:13Especially, uh, when you know na you only have yourself to, uh, you have to, to rely on yourself to learn.
00:44:22So, you have to really take it seriously.
00:44:24Kasi, there's this, uh, danger also.
00:44:27Baka kung masyadong lax, nagiging easy lang.
00:44:31So, ako kasi, uh, during the time, I really, uh, parang put in the hour, saka serious yung, yung studying ko.
00:44:41Which, uh, eventually helped me naman along the way.
00:44:44So, I guess there's wisdom to it naman.
00:44:46So, na-diagnose ka officially na anxiety?
00:44:51Or, did you ever get yourself checked for it?
00:44:54Ah, yes, uh, on of, uh, even before, like, uh, since I was a kid, I've, I've been, uh, visiting psychiatrist.
00:45:06Uh, pero, uh, bahad for different reasons unknown to me, only to my parents.
00:45:12Pero, um, I saw also kasi, oh, when I was young, I was, uh, uh, not outgoing.
00:45:23Uh, I performed poor in class.
00:45:28Uh, I remember my brain developing late.
00:45:31I started reading at nine.
00:45:33So, all these things probably, uh, led my parents to, uh, have me, um, uh, to see a psychiatrist, psychologist, yung.
00:45:47So, and then, uh, every now and then, it would, uh, manifest, uh,
00:45:53Uh, I remember when I was in college, I, I saw my, my psychiatrist again.
00:45:59Kasi I'm having fear in, in closed spaces.
00:46:03So, uh, if I'm in the, let's say, I go watch basketball in an arena, yung exit, yun.
00:46:11I feel like I have, I'm having a hard time breathing.
00:46:15Tapos, uh, when I'm stuck in traffic, I don't like that before.
00:46:19Parang, uh, ano ko na, uh, kaka, ano yun?
00:46:24Hyperventilation, yun.
00:46:26So, a lot of episodes here and there.
00:46:29Pero, nothing beats pandemic.
00:46:32Because during that time, lockdown, you can go out, you see a lot of people dying.
00:46:37And then, uh, there's only one person allowed to go out just to buy food.
00:46:42So, a lot pang food.
00:46:43Tapos, uh, it's a combination of things.
00:46:46And then, that time, of course, doing daily recitations at school.
00:46:51Parang medyo, it, it hyped, it hyped up.
00:46:55Yung, ano na, parang, kaya natitrigger lalo yung anxiety.
00:47:00So, na, sabi mo, when you pass the, um, when you, after you graduated, mas okay na.
00:47:06So, ano yung nakapagbigay ng peace sa'yo? Sa tingin mo?
00:47:10Um, maybe less, uh, pressure kasi you're already done with your, um, uh, school, uh, your, your, um, subjects.
00:47:24Uh, you don't have to deal with your professors.
00:47:26You don't have to deal with homework.
00:47:28You don't have to deal with recitation.
00:47:29So, it kinda relaxed me.
00:47:32Um, but then, not knowing there's a bigger dragon, uh, waiting yung bar exam.
00:47:40So, natapos ka nga sa school, but there's a bigger dragon.
00:47:44Uh, pero, uh, laban lang.
00:47:48Uh, ano, eh.
00:47:51Uh, there's no way but to go through, eh.
00:47:53So, ano lang, eh.
00:47:56Yung lang parat ko sinasabi, eh.
00:47:58Ano, laban lang, eh.
00:47:59Kasi, uh, you can let your fear, um, parang, take the most out of your, ano, diba, of you.
00:48:07Pero, at the end of the day, it's a choice, eh.
00:48:09You can believe the fear or fight through the fear, diba.
00:48:13So, I chose to fight through, eh.
00:48:16Correct.
00:48:17Wow.
00:48:18You, you faced the dragon, kumbaga, instead of avoiding.
00:48:22And, and, eto na nga, speaking of facing the dragon.
00:48:26So, you finally took the exam.
00:48:29And, when you were waiting for the results, what were, kasi you were saying nga na, okay lang kung sakaling umulit ako.
00:48:36Uh-huh.
00:48:37So, may expectation ka, parang niready mo yung sari mong, okay, in case I fail, take lang ulit, ganun ba?
00:48:43Yes.
00:48:44Yes, ma'am.
00:48:45Uh, hundred percent.
00:48:46Um, may mga friends ako who are advising me na to defer.
00:48:52Kasi, it becomes a strategy, I think, of some, na they defer for one year.
00:49:00So, they have a lot of time to review.
00:49:02Uh, ako kasi, my personal belief is, um, hindi ko pala personal belief yun.
00:49:10Nakuha ko lang din yung quote na yun.
00:49:12Ah, you missed one hundred percent of the shots you do, you did not take.
00:49:16Is yun ba nagsabi na?
00:49:18Hmm.
00:49:19Either Michael Jordan or Wayne Gretzky yun eh.
00:49:22Either lang isa dalawa.
00:49:23So, I thought na, if I try and fail, ganun din, if I defer, I would still not be a lawyer this year.
00:49:35So, might as well take the chance, no?
00:49:39Parang, face the fear, uh, try to slay the dragon, diba?
00:49:44Um, ano eh, parang, it's under the word of, ano eh, parang presumption eh.
00:49:51Na, will I pass?
00:49:53Would I fail?
00:49:54Diba?
00:49:55So, there's only one way to know, is to, to do it.
00:50:00So, yun na lang ginawa ko, I just took the bar.
00:50:03Hmm.
00:50:04And then, on the day itself, meron ka bang ginawang routine?
00:50:07Or, can you recall what happened that day na?
00:50:11When looking back, parang, wow!
00:50:13Paano nangyari ko, ganun?
00:50:16Ah, wala naman.
00:50:17Ah, nothing extraordinary.
00:50:19Madami lang akong monster energy drink.
00:50:21Kasi, during the time, exhausted na ako.
00:50:24So, I'm running on coffee at saka energy drink, which is sobrang bad.
00:50:30Kasi yung combination tapos lack of sleep.
00:50:33And then, um, I'm not eating a lot.
00:50:36Kasi you cannot eat eh.
00:50:37Parang, parang you feel something sa stomach mo.
00:50:43So, I, I guess that's the ano eh.
00:50:46Ah, yung nervous impulse.
00:50:50So, ah, yun lang.
00:50:55Just to keep me awake and moving.
00:50:58Pero I don't, I don't recommend that.
00:51:00That's, that's probably bad.
00:51:02Hmm.
00:51:03Or yung preparation.
00:51:05Meron ka bang parang pinaka, alibawa, okay, pinag-novena ko or whatever.
00:51:10Kasi maraming pamahiin yun eh.
00:51:12Diba may mga ritual ka ba na ginawa?
00:51:15May ganun ka ba?
00:51:16Oo.
00:51:17I, I have friends who would go to, yun sa Tagaytay and Baguio.
00:51:27Ah, yes, I have those friends.
00:51:30Pero kasi I don't have the luxury of time to go to those places.
00:51:35I don't have also the luxury of time to, to, um, do yung mga superstitions.
00:51:43I just studied and, and, ah, pray na I, I'll be able to retain what I'm reading.
00:51:51Kasi after work, dun pala ako mag-start, mag-review.
00:51:57Eh, usually ano ka na, na-exhausted ka na eh.
00:52:00So yung tiny remaining energy ko, sana ma-sustain ko yung until 12 minutes.
00:52:09So yun lang yung daily prayers ko.
00:52:13Okay.
00:52:14Ah, look after the bar exams, noong September, right, 2025.
00:52:19So you had to wait like for three months before the results.
00:52:23Kamusta yung waiting period?
00:52:25Parang, saka kasi parang, I can't imagine na tatlong buwan mag-aantay ka.
00:52:31Parang, was it a lot of inner struggle?
00:52:34Tensyon?
00:52:39Ah, yes.
00:52:40The, the agony of waiting is there definitely.
00:52:43But, ah, because of the plenty of workload we have sa office, nakalimutan ko.
00:52:50Subuti na lang.
00:52:51Um, but then, after Christmas, medyo na feel ko ulit siya.
00:52:57Uy, kalapit na.
00:52:59So, ah, I really have to, to, to think positive.
00:53:06Um, although, at the back of my head, no, I know na yung, what I gave is just enough.
00:53:13Ah, my preparation was just enough.
00:53:16Then, shockingly, true enough, when I saw my, my grade sa portal, sakto lang din siya 75.
00:53:25So, okay lang, okay lang.
00:53:26So, sagto, okay.
00:53:27Very consistent, ah.
00:53:28At this past, diba?
00:53:30Wow.
00:53:31At saka first take yun, Luca.
00:53:34I mean, diba?
00:53:36Pero, I, I think, um, I, I really owe it to the bar chair, Justice Amy, Lazaro, Javier, for being kind.
00:53:46Kasi, there are previous bar exam questions na, they have long sets of facts.
00:53:53Na, na, naubos na yung oras mo kakabasa.
00:53:57When we had our bar exam for criminal law, ano lang siya, ah, it's just concise, ah, manner of asking the question.
00:54:08So, it, it helped me.
00:54:10Kasi, sometimes, because of pressure, ah, external, ano, kasi during the time, I was feeling sickly.
00:54:18So, um, and then you're towards the end of the race, so talagang you're exhausted.
00:54:25So, um, being kind kinda helped a lot of us, our bar examines, ah, to be able to at least get a passing grade.
00:54:37I'm really happy it's like that.
00:54:40Plus, ano, walang math.
00:54:42So, kasi kapag may math, I'm a lot.
00:54:45So, I'm, I'm really happy there was no, um, computation.
00:54:49Wow.
00:54:50And do you think, um, were the questions that you answered dun sa bar reflected yung review mo?
00:55:00Or was it really more of about applying everything that you know or everything that you've learned in school?
00:55:07I, I think a combination, ma'am.
00:55:09Uh, everything I learned in school, ah, helped me in answering.
00:55:16Pero, sa work kasi, I'm doing policy guidelines.
00:55:20Um, it helped me to present my answer better.
00:55:26Yung, parang siyang ano eh, ah, sometimes you have a good answer, but you don't present it well.
00:55:33But you have a simple answer, but you presented it well.
00:55:37Parang ako parang gano'n eh.
00:55:39I had simple answers, pero I just presented them well.
00:55:43Parang fit ko it, it, it, it.
00:55:45Wow.
00:55:49Di naman out of the ordinary yung answer.
00:55:51Sige, very simple lang talaga.
00:55:53When I was answering, parang, masyadong basic to, ah.
00:55:58Pero okay lang.
00:55:59In, in my mind naman, I thought that was the best, or the best answer I could give.
00:56:08Yun.
00:56:09At the moment, no.
00:56:11Grabe.
00:56:12So, ito yung mga tips para dun sa mga iba pang mga mag-take ng exam.
00:56:17Diba?
00:56:18Kaya natin din pinatalong si Luke.
00:56:21Luke, mahilig ka ba dun sa mga, ano, lawyer or crime drama?
00:56:26Gano'n ba ka totoo yung mga suks?
00:56:29Yes.
00:56:30But, sadly, I, ah.
00:56:33I haven't watched a movie or series for a long, long time, no?
00:56:38Parang, after a long, long time, the, the next one I saw was Bar Boys 2.
00:56:43So.
00:56:45Woo, MMFM!
00:56:47Oh, before nun, I, I haven't, ah, seen, kasi, ah, a series or a movie.
00:56:53Kasi, I'm trying to put that time to studying kasi.
00:56:58So.
00:56:59Wow.
00:57:00Pero nun, ah, madami na ulit.
00:57:02Papano orin ko na may, ah, ah, may list ako.
00:57:04Ano gusto mo pano orin?
00:57:05Ah, ano yun asa list mo?
00:57:06Um, ah, suits kasi parang I've seen parang half of season one lang.
00:57:14Tapos hindi ko talaga siya na, ah, na paluku.
00:57:19Um, ah.
00:57:21So, what's in the book?
00:57:24Lincoln, Lincoln Lawyer, I heard it's good also.
00:57:27Ah.
00:57:28Yes.
00:57:29It's a good, um, series.
00:57:30I've watched it.
00:57:31Um, Better Call Soul.
00:57:34Yun, okay daw yun.
00:57:36Eh, so nasa list ko sila.
00:57:38Hmm, nice.
00:57:39And, of course, siyempre you deserve all the, um, celebration and relaxation after the, ano, nerve-wracking exam, no?
00:57:52And yung waiting season mo.
00:57:53Nakapag-celebrate ka na ba with your family?
00:57:56Ah, yes, ma'am.
00:57:57Especially during the holidays.
00:57:59Um, they kept me positive kasi if they saw me na medyo na kayo po.
00:58:06Oh, cheer up, cheer up.
00:58:07Okay lang yan.
00:58:08Okay man, think positive.
00:58:09So, ah, that helped me.
00:58:12Um, my office mates are always there to support me.
00:58:16Ah, I send Sir Bernie yung ano yung reaction ko when I passed.
00:58:22I did not post it.
00:58:23Pero, ah, you can see na parang yung mga ano pa sa tarpaulin, gano'n.
00:58:28So, ah, moral, ah, parang moral wise, no?
00:58:33It, it boost, it, it, it, it boost my confidence.
00:58:37So, ah, lahat naman played a role eh.
00:58:41Parang, ano, collaborative effort siya eh.
00:58:44Ah, of my friends, family, and office mates.
00:58:48To keep me sane.
00:58:50Right, ah.
00:58:52So, Lug, after passing the bar exams na, what's next for you?
00:58:57Anong immediate plans mo?
00:58:59Ah, there's no really immediate, ah, steps for me.
00:59:03Kasi I, I, I told the department, ah, thank you for, ah, trusting me and hiring me.
00:59:12So, it's my turn naman to give back.
00:59:14Ah, parang I have no plans naman to leave or ask for a higher salary.
00:59:19And, ah, I'll just stay where I am.
00:59:21For now.
00:59:22Ah, ah, just to, ah, ah, just to, I like to give back to the people who helped me.
00:59:30Kasi, especially my boss, kasi, and he knows naman na, I was reviewing during the time and then, pag, ah, he needs to send somebody to a meeting, ah, he would send, ah, someone else.
00:59:31especially my boss i say and he knows someone that i was reviewing during the time and then
00:59:38but uh he needs to send somebody to a meeting uh he would send uh someone else so uh i could uh
00:59:48be freed from um extra work from the office so um so i i i owe it to them so it's my so this time
00:59:59naman i'll give back so to answer uh no plans uh i'll sit in the same old small cubicle for
01:00:09next few years wow the next few years are you thinking of also setting up your own office
01:00:19i believe the department allows limited practices so that may be a possibility ma'am
01:00:24uh provided bahada but i don't know the exact rules but i think that but after office hours
01:00:33engagement mo from your clients so which makes sense naman kasi you're taking the government's
01:00:39time so tama lang naman after office hours
01:00:45diba pwede yun ayan so all right ito nga so dahil na digre-diretso sa pag-trabaho and pag-aaral no
01:00:54are you leaving showbiz permanently
01:00:56or do you still consider pwede naman pa rin i'll definitely talk to my old manager and see if
01:01:12we can do something and uh hopefully i can uh appear again on on some teleseries or movies
01:01:20kasi first love ko naman talaga si film um it it it helped me it helped me uh improve my confidence
01:01:31uh from a very shy guy to not so shy guy yun
01:01:36so open pa rin si attorney luke no ito na ito pa isa sa mga last few questions po um so attorney
01:01:43grabe pinag-usapan natin yung trabaho talaga and pag-aaral paano po ang inyong love life
01:01:49kayo po by in a relationship at the moment uh no way kasi ano very demanding si studies and uh
01:02:01on top of that i have a day job so parang ang yung love life ko talaga yung yung dogs ko so sila
01:02:11lang yung yung nakakuha ng ng time ko pero uh i believe after since tapos na naman yung bar baka i can
01:02:20start dating wow when did you last dated at 30 or had a relationship
01:02:27bawal ka sabihin baka mali yung date may magalit eh so
01:02:31uh i've been uh dating uh here and there pero parang quick lang kasi because of
01:02:47i guess medyo serious naman but yung yung time kasi and uh
01:02:53uh responsibilities medyo ano eh nasa work and studies
01:02:59eh very safe si attorney doon baka may mag-text sa kanya so hindi tayo hindi ka serious
01:03:04but at least may time medyo si attorney anong mga qualities attorney na hinahanap nyo sa isang potential
01:03:19girlfriend qualities uh understanding uh number one kasi yung um uh especially with my work
01:03:29uh uh to check uh validate and monitor projects so parating uh out of town so
01:03:46kailangan understanding kasi baka magalit so and i guess uh that and um ano pa ba
01:03:54uh uh god fearing yan so those two okay na yun ayan ayan meron yan si pink
01:04:05so yung family mo your parents what's their what are they telling you now now that you pass the bar
01:04:15well not just my friends but the the whole clan is uh very happy uh
01:04:21uh uh what justice amy lazaro said um it takes a village to to produce a lawyer so uh all of my
01:04:37my family even extended friends and uh two office mates it's it's a collaborative effort to
01:04:46help me to help me to to be where i am now uh i believe no if some aspects lack so for example
01:04:54so office now i was having a hard time um with my time and schedule baka i will i was not able to study
01:05:03well and to my family man without their support um baka i was not able to to finish my law school
01:05:12journey so it's a collaborative effort of everybody so i i kind of owe it to everybody man
01:05:21you're my first lawyer in the family or married lawyer relatives oh i have some lawyer relatives but
01:05:31they're more like cousin of my mom oh i'm a judy stand pero uh yeah they uh i can say na there are other
01:05:41lawyers but um two hour immediate family immediate family
01:05:50your parents are what are they're both working are they still working
01:05:55uh uh they're old they're old so they're enjoying you're tired now wow okay and then you have how many
01:06:11siblings i have uh one full uh uh sibling and then two half siblings you're the eldest or
01:06:23one second second second second second second second second second second second second second
01:06:30um um
01:06:38so i'm sure sobrang happy nila so talagang nag-celebrate
01:06:42nakapag-celebrate kasi sabi mo kanina celebrate during the holidays but after the bar
01:06:45nakapag-celebrate na ba um just with my office mates kasi i came from the office po and then
01:06:54i can't really uh i can't really uh i can't really uh not go to work so um
01:07:01um
01:07:06really soon
01:07:06uh
01:07:16uh
01:07:17uh
01:07:18uh
01:07:19uh
01:07:20uh
01:07:21uh
01:07:22uh
01:07:24from? Kung ano yung
01:07:25pwede nilang matutunan, di ba?
01:07:28Lalo na ikaw, ang dami mong struggles before
01:07:30na you didn't believe in yourself, but
01:07:32look where you're now.
01:07:36Well, very cliche
01:07:38yung never give up, pero
01:07:40there's some
01:07:41truth to it.
01:07:45There's some
01:07:47parang mysticism
01:07:50into it na I cannot explain
01:07:52if you do not give up,
01:07:54parang naawa.
01:07:56There's some
01:07:58I don't know
01:08:00really how to explain it, pero
01:08:02you get to come across,
01:08:04parang that
01:08:05kasi ako kasi
01:08:08I don't give up, pero
01:08:10for some reason I was able naman to
01:08:12to do it,
01:08:14but it does look
01:08:16hard and look impossible,
01:08:18pero it
01:08:19it becomes
01:08:21possible when
01:08:24it happened.
01:08:25So, for example, me,
01:08:27I don't look like a guy na who would
01:08:30survive law school and pass the
01:08:32bar, but I did.
01:08:33So,
01:08:34it's just because I never
01:08:36gave up.
01:08:37grabe,
01:08:40ang galing talaga na.
01:08:41Correct.
01:08:42And it's a
01:08:43cliche naman for a
01:08:44reason,
01:08:45di ba?
01:08:46Ibig sabihin talagang
01:08:47it really works
01:08:48with
01:08:49a lot of hard work.
01:08:51So,
01:08:51may effort naman.
01:08:52when you plant seeds,
01:08:54meron talagang
01:08:55buma,
01:08:56di ba?
01:08:57So,
01:08:58what you reap,
01:08:58okay.
01:09:00You reap what,
01:09:01ayun.
01:09:02Anyway,
01:09:02ayun na ha.
01:09:03Pepsters,
01:09:05thank you so much,
01:09:06Luke,
01:09:06for sharing all your
01:09:08stories,
01:09:09your struggles,
01:09:10and career highs
01:09:12with us.
01:09:13ang dami nating
01:09:14mahukulat dun sa hard work talaga.
01:09:16Dibing proof talaga si
01:09:18Luke na
01:09:19you never give up
01:09:20when you want something
01:09:22because
01:09:23eventually na
01:09:24makukuha mo yun.
01:09:26And
01:09:26do not
01:09:27believe the
01:09:29people
01:09:30saying na
01:09:31you can't.
01:09:32Do not believe them.
01:09:34Kasi
01:09:34at the end of the day,
01:09:36it's
01:09:36you who would
01:09:37bring yourself
01:09:38to the next level.
01:09:39So,
01:09:40um,
01:09:41I guess
01:09:44I've been hearing
01:09:44before,
01:09:45not only to me,
01:09:46but of course,
01:09:47to a lot of
01:09:48my friends also.
01:09:50Pero
01:09:50one thing is for sure,
01:09:53they do not
01:09:54control your destiny.
01:09:56It's
01:09:56only you.
01:09:58Wow.
01:09:59Grabe ang pang,
01:10:00ano natin,
01:10:01di ba?
01:10:01Pang finale
01:10:02na parting words
01:10:03from Luke.
01:10:04Okay.
01:10:05So,
01:10:05yun.
01:10:06Thank you so much,
01:10:07Luke.
01:10:08And congratulations.
01:10:10Do you have
01:10:11anything
01:10:11coming up
01:10:12that people

01:10:36I'm done
01:10:37with my subject.
01:10:38Um,
01:10:40just don't expect
01:10:41a very,
01:10:42ano,
01:10:42expert
01:10:43opinion.
01:10:44Semi-expert
01:10:45lang,
01:10:46pwede.
01:10:47Grabe siya.
01:10:48Ano ka ba?
01:10:49Nakapasa ka nga,

01:10:54um,
01:10:55it's the beginning
01:10:56of a new career
01:10:58talaga,
01:10:59no?
01:10:59Yung,

01:11:15nakakatawa?
01:11:17Um,
01:11:19uh,
01:11:19nothing out of
01:11:20the ordinary naman,
01:11:22pero,
01:11:22I'm just,
01:11:23um,
01:11:25uh,
01:11:26I woke up
01:11:28one day,
01:11:28parang a lot of
01:11:30uh,
01:11:31posts
01:11:32about me
01:11:32passing,
01:11:34yun yung
01:11:35what shocked me,
01:11:36kasi I'm just,
01:11:37um,
01:11:38parang,
01:11:39very quiet guy,
01:11:40hindi naman ako
01:11:41ma-post,
01:11:42and then,
01:11:43seeing a lot of
01:11:44posts,
01:11:44about,
01:11:45posts about me,
01:11:46um,
01:11:47yun yung medyo
01:11:48out of the ordinary form.
01:11:49But,
