00:00G'day, Rick Smith here, Nutrient Casterton.
00:02We've just completed our annual Angus steer weaner sale.
00:06We yarded approximately 2,200 cattle, it was sort of basically $5 to $5.30 on everything.
00:12A couple of pens did tickle $5.40 and obviously we dipped below $5 in places.
00:17The yarding went to about three to four major buyers, they sort of dominated it and that
00:21sort of stayed local to South Australia, a couple of strong orders to New South Wales
00:26and then a couple just to sort of the edge of the Western District.
00:31Highlight of the sale for me was the heavier cattle that were EU and weaned was clearly
00:36a $0.10 to $0.20 premium and those EU backgrounders were particularly strong on the $2.80 to $3.30
00:43kilo calves as well and there was anywhere from $0.15 to $0.30 premium for EU weaned calves.
00:50Overall, yeah, we've had a very solid sale.
00:53The percentages are anywhere from $3.50 to $4.50 up on last year so a lot of happy people
00:58and it's good to see them get rewarded for their efforts after a very tough autumn and
01:03a very tough winter but obviously the spring rains come and saved everyone and it was just
01:08impressive to see how much weight was here today in comparison to recent years.
01:13We had a lot of pens up around $3.80 to $4.00 which is really exciting, so thank you.
