00:00Yes, over £10 million is being spent every year on cracking down on London's underground graffiti
00:09And that's according to the Transport for London Commissioner Andy Lord
00:16Now Mr Lord said they had seen a spike in tube carriages being tagged
00:22Particularly on the Bakerloo and Central lines
00:26This came in response to a Freedom of Information request
00:31And TfL last month said staff were tirelessly working to remove one tag on average every three minutes
00:40Mr Lord told the London Assembly Budget and Performance Committee
00:48That they were spending between £10 and £11 million
00:52On a combination of proactive investigation and prevention as well as cleaning
00:59Now he added that they were working very closely with the British Transport Police
01:05And their own investigation teams as well
01:08To identify and prevent particular hotspot locations where people were gaining access to the trains
01:16In the summer it emerged that cleaners were removing more than 3,000 tags on tube trains every week
01:24But what the Londoners actually think of graffiti on the London Underground
01:28Does it add to the aesthetic? Is it messy? Is this hyperbolic nonsense?
01:34Or does it really make a difference? And is the London Underground just not clean enough?
01:39Yeah, I definitely have noticed it
01:46And there's certainly some lines that have it more than others
01:49Like I've seen it a lot on things like the Bakerloo line and stuff like that
01:52Less so on District line
01:54In terms of whether or not it bothers me
01:57Not really
01:58Yeah
02:00No, not really
02:01I think it's alright
02:03It's clean enough to travel
02:06Which is, yeah
02:07I mean
02:09Yeah
02:11From my own experience
02:13It's clean enough
02:15And I see always the people cleaning in there
02:17The cleaners
02:18So, yeah
02:20It's clean
02:21No, it's disgusting
02:23It's really dirty
02:24But, I mean
02:25It's still the best way to get around
02:27So you just deal with it
02:29Not really
02:30Not really
02:31I never saw something like that
02:34Normally it's clean in the stations
02:38Yeah
02:40It's clean enough for travelling
02:42It's alright
02:43I mean, £11 million seems like quite a lot
02:47When there are, I think
02:49I think there are bigger issues that the money could be spent on
02:51But at the same time
02:53I understand that it's a big fleet of tubes in the Underground
02:56So keeping it clean would be expensive
02:58So maybe it's justified
02:59If there aren't enough Newton thinking too much
03:01Bye
03:02Just clean enough
