03:31But this is the challenge that Oyoa and Zack Sabre have been gearing up for for well over a month.
03:37It is Sabre Jr. and Oyoa for the IWGP Tag Team Championship tonight.
03:43Team DK, World Tag League 2025 winners in ZSJ and Ryoa Heo,
03:50and the champion of the 6D Tag Team, The GRIP, Oyoa Heoewa.
04:02Oyoa Heoewa was a background character NPC Energy with the words from Utah Ice
04:10that he was the star player in Oyoa and ZSJ capturing the World Tag League trophies.
04:17And on a hell of a streak winning the Never 6 Man titles as well.
04:22But those trophies were apparently fixed after being busted up by Oskar and Ice in Korak Red before Christmas.
04:31It was two years ago to the day, January 5, 2024, where the Knockout Brothers,
04:58then known, Oskar Roibank and Yuto Nakashima wrestling as Young Lions were sent away on excursion,
05:05an excursion that would end at last year's G1 Climax.
05:09And only a few short months later, within that period of time, becoming the new IWGP Tag Team Champions.
05:16Two years after their send off, Rocky Romero, now in the main event here tonight as the defending IWGP Tag Team Champions.
05:25There's a hell of a lot to say about that with the Knockout Brothers.
05:29Yeah, their return to New Japan Pro Wrestling after their excursion in Europe and all over the world.
05:36They have been nothing but impressive, incredible.
05:40And I am more excited about the tag team division more than ever in a very, very long time.
05:47And I think that these two guys, the Knockout Brothers, stand at the very, very top.
05:526x7 Statue and 6x7 Swagger, is Oskar and Yuto Ice, and immediately catching those tag titles and have done more, like you said,
06:04to rejuvenate this tag division and put it right at the focal point, to the point it is main eventing the first event of the post-Tanahashi era here at New Year Dash.

07:25This is not the first time that we have seen these two teams go head-to-head.
07:30It was back in last year's World Tag League, the first ever for Oskar and ICE.
07:35And the tournament that really proved, well, this is a unit, this is a duo that is actually beatable.
07:41That's something that we did not know up until the point of World Tag League this year.
07:45However, it was not Zack Sabre Jr. and Ryohei Oya that managed to beat Oskar and ICE.
07:50Could tonight be the first time for the duo?
07:52Yeah, it certainly seems though, doesn't it?
07:54That all the momentum on Oya and Zack Sabre Jr.'s side after winning the never six-man last night.
08:01And just before this match even started.
08:05I mean, you know how tight Walker TMDK are as a group.
08:09And for Oya and Zack Sabre Jr. to be in standby and see Fujita and Eagles come back with those Junior Tag Team Championships,
08:16that's going to really propel you forward.
08:20Iron sharpens iron.
08:23Fire only burns brighter in TMDK as the IWGP Tag Team titles are up for grabs here tonight.
08:30Chris, can you walk us through the history and the difference in ideology, you can say, between Oya and Yuta.
08:36Yeah, ICE and Oya are probably the same class in the Nogue Dojo as well as Oskar.
08:41You know, they always, always despise one another.
08:45Ryohei Oiwa comes from a very well-off background and you're blessed in all areas.
08:51The genetics, great movie star looks, certainly things that, well, have evaded Yuta Ice.
08:58And ICE had to fight on the streets, chose that street life, chose that thug life, if you will.
09:03While Ryohei Oiwa, privately educated, had a very, very nice background before he got into professional wrestling.
09:10And ICE felt, well, you never had to fight and scrape and claw like I did in my daily life.
09:15But, Rocky, that all changed.
09:17The World Tag League Finals, Oya were knocking a tooth, busting a tooth out of gay kid's mouth.
09:22And that showed how tough that Oya can be.
09:30Yuta Ice has made claims in the past of Ryohei Oya.
09:33Getting into New Japan Pro Wrestling, getting into the Nogue Dojo off the back of mommy and daddy's money.
09:38Yuta Ice, meanwhile, saying, I had to fight for my money.
09:41And even still in this profession, everyone has to fight for their food.
09:45And he had to, he failed the tryout, what, three, four times?
09:49And when he failed those tryouts, he said instead, okay, I'm gonna fight for money.
09:54He fought in underground MMA.
09:56And then he took himself over to the New Zealand Dojo, and that's where he met Oscar.
10:01And these two men have been bound by combat ever since the beginning.
10:05From their singles encounters as Young Lions to what would quickly become a Young Lions tag team,
10:11at the time known as Youngblood.
10:12And the growth that these men showed from the New Zealand Dojo to the European Independence scene,
10:19leading to their domination here in the modern day.
10:22It's a lot, Rock, that I see in Yuta Ice.
10:33I see elements of guys from New Japan's past being a new light.
10:38We made comparisons in the past with Ice and Shinya Hashimoto.
10:44I see a lot of Shinsuke Nakamura stylistically in his strike zone.
10:49I see a lot of, yeah, Hashimoto, Nakamura, that spirit that Ricky Choshu had, Shibaba.
11:00Yeah.
11:05It's a hard hit, no-nonsense style and approach that Yuta Ice brings to a professional wrestling ring.
11:10But when he's in full control, well, you couldn't call it nonsense,
11:14but there's certainly something that's going to be coming out of the mouth of Yuta Ice.

11:18Some of it we can't really repeat on the air.
11:20Well, that being.
11:22In fact, most of it, I would say.
11:27The questions always linger, of course, in Ice's professional wrestling debut,
11:32February the 14th, 2021, you know, injuring his arm right away.
11:38And you know that Zaksaber Jr. has that up in his brain for later efforts.
11:49There's the Knockout Brothers who have been talking up a storm,
11:52priding themselves on being the first team in a calendar year
11:55to defend those IWGP Tag Team Championships.
11:58Chris, how would it affect the psyche of Oscar and Ice
12:01to lose the championships here tonight after saying they're going to be the stronghold,
12:05the steeple hold of the heavyweight division?
12:08Yeah, I mean, it certainly would undo a lot of that talk.
12:12Even getting to V1 with the IWGP Tag Team Championships is a huge, huge accomplishment.
12:17But to kind of fill that on your sophomore defense really kind of makes it kind of hard to talk a big game.
12:26But at the same time, I mean, every year since, what, 2014,
12:32the IWGP Tag Team Championships have changed hands at a Wrestle Kingdom.
12:38And this is the first time we've seen the defendant at all at New Year Dash.
12:41Rock Walker and I talked long and hard about the decision that Zack and Oyewa made
12:56not to take that Tag Title shot at the Tokyo Dome but to make sure that it was at New Year Dash but in the main event.
13:03What's your take on that decision?
13:05You know what? I love that. I love that for a couple of reasons, you know, I mean, just the ambiance in the room right now.
13:13It feels like, you know, when the IWGP Tag Titles really meant something, you know, it takes them back to the 90s, you know, when you talk about Muto, you know, being involved and Chono and all the big stars.
13:27And it feels like that tonight. And I feel like this is the perfect place to start the new year off fresh in so many ways.
13:35But really highlighting what these Tag Titles mean. And plus, coming out of World Tag League, it feels like it gets lost in the shuffle a bit with Wrestle Kingdom looming.
13:44So I feel this is a great opportunity to build off of that.
13:50Yeah, Rocky, a lot of excellent points you just made right there. And Rioja Oiwa has a couple of points he needs to prove here tonight.
13:58The man that was pinned by Yuta Weiss back in the center of the ring, the World Tag League.
14:04And she's local last year.
14:08I had a conversation with Oscar and a piece by piece with Yuta Weiss as well earlier on in the evening.

14:55And Yuta Ice and Oscar earned their way to that position here tonight. Still in New Year Dash, though.
