00:00Hello, how are you doing? Hi, I'm good. Where are you from? I'm from Italy, Roma. Ciao. Ciao.
00:25Why did you decide to come to Bali? In Italy it's totally different, you know?
00:29So I decided to come here to see how Asian people live.
00:33What's your favorite place in Bali? I like Nusa Penida in Leghili.
00:38What are your plans in Bali?
00:40In the first time we do a trip with tag groups. Every day we go in different places.
00:47In the second time we spend time alone in a resort here in Chang'o.
00:54And that's it, just for relax the last days.
00:57You will go back to Italy? Yeah, Italy and then Ibiza.
01:01You like parties? Yeah, of course.
01:05What do you do for a living? I am a student, architecture student.
01:10Yeah, you are very stylish. Thank you.
01:12What's your best memory in Bali?
01:14When I see the people helping together, each other. For me it's really nice these things in a country.
01:22You met many people here? Yeah, of course. I sing with every taxi driver because every taxi driver sings.
01:31Ah, sings? Yeah, Justin Bieber too.
01:33Thank you for your time. Thank you. Bye.
01:35That's it.
01:36Hello, how are you doing? I'm good, how are you?
01:38Yeah, good, thank you. Where are you from?
01:39I'm from England.
01:40How long is your stay in Bali?
01:42I've been here four years.
01:43Four years?
01:44Yeah, four years.
01:45Wow, amazing. You are Balinese.
01:47I wish. My bahasa is actually awful, it's embarrassing. For four years it's really not where it should be.
01:52What do you do for living?
01:54So I work for a UK company remotely, so I work within tech consulting.
01:58Wow, you are very smart.
02:00No, definitely not, I wish.
02:02What brought you to Bali?
02:04I moved here during Covid and I was living in England at the time and I just didn't really want to be in England,
02:09so I ended up figuring out where I wanted to go and I came here and then I never left.
02:13I think that's how many people, they come here for a couple of months and then they never leave, so yeah.
02:17What's your favourite place in Bali?
02:19My favourite place is probably Kadungu, which is where I live.
02:22So it's like just a village that way, like further up the coast and it's just super nice, it's really peaceful there.
02:27And then I just come into Canggu to experience the madness and then get to leave and it's very peaceful, so yeah.
02:32You have nice names.
02:34Oh, thank you.
02:36You did it in Bali.
02:37Yeah, I mean that's the thing about living in Bali, like these things are so much more accessible, you know,
02:41because it's like cheaper to do these kind of things here, whereas in London that would cost like a lot of money.
02:45But here I'm like, oh, so yeah, it's good.
02:47Do you face any culture shock in Bali?
02:49A little bit, yeah.
02:50You know, there are some things that it's just very different.
02:53But I mean, after a while you get used to it.
02:56I mean, the biggest thing is actually what people carry on bikes.
02:59You know, when you see like a whole family on a moped and you're just like, whoa, that's crazy.
03:02But yeah, eventually after a while you get more used to it.
03:05What are you doing now?
03:06So I'm just going for a beach walk, get my steps in and then going to parties and then I'll start work around 4pm.
03:11Actually, you'll be healthy.
03:12Oh, thank you.
03:15Oh, thank you so much.
03:17Wow.
03:18How do you stay fit?
03:19So I do parties a couple of times a week.
03:21I do, I go to the gym twice a week and then I also just get in lots of steps.
03:25So lots of walking.
03:26Yeah.

04:08So I think both of those.
04:10What advice would you give to other Western travelers?
04:13I would say no expectations and just trust the island and people.
04:17People are very kind, so.
04:19Explore as much as you can.

05:16Nice.
05:17Like just travel around Bali.
05:18Like now Canggu, I think then Ubud and then like Uluwatu.
05:22What's your impression of Bali?
05:24Like Canggu here, it's very, very like, I think noisy and a lot of younger people, I think.
05:30Like Thailand where I've been like a few weeks ago, there were not like many young people like here.
05:35I think a lot of like solo backpackers and something like me.
05:39Especially in Canggu, there are many young people.
05:41Yeah, I heard about it, yes.
05:43In Suminyak and in Kuta, there are many older people actually.
05:47Okay.
05:49Why did you decide to come to Bali?
05:51Because like I like seeing it on social media, TikTok and everything.
05:55And like, because I was in Bangkok like a few days ago and now it's like far away.
06:00So I tried from here.
06:02You went to Thailand?
06:03Yes.
06:04How was it?
06:05Very great.

06:21I don't think so because, okay, I've been like here like a lot of months now.
06:25But I think the people are a lot of more kind, like in Germany and like more open-minded and everything.
06:31So I really like it.
06:33But you are very open-minded.
06:36Thank you for your time.

10:07So many tourists and like trying to find the culture can be a bit hard.
10:11But you have to kind of travel away from other areas, the busy areas.

13:43And we start uni in October so it's just a little trip before uni starts.
13:47What's your impression of Bali?
13:49I was kind of scared before because like there was a time, especially in Germany, where
13:53like many influencers were saying like, oh, Bali is so overrated.
13:56There's like a lot of trash everywhere.
13:58A lot of like stray dogs and everything.
14:00But I think so far, like I didn't get the same impression.
14:04I like it a lot.
14:05I think many places are very clean.
14:07I'm happy to be here.

15:24Yeah, yeah, yeah.
15:25Always.
15:26Why did you decide to come to Bali?
15:27Because our friend came here like for nine times, her ninth time in Bali.
15:31He's in love.
15:32So she said we have to go to Bali.
15:34So we made our decision.
15:35It was easier than we expected.
15:37Yeah, yeah.
15:38And we would come again for sure.

16:30Why did you decide to come to Bali?
16:32Bali, it was my dream for two years ago.
16:35And I just want to get the vibe and the feeling.

23:50If it will be okay, it's okay.
23:52If not, it's nothing bad and it don't means that you have some problems with something on you.
23:59Just take it easy and try to catch maybe eye contact before starting communication.

26:39My best friend wanted to move here.
26:41And I was actually working remotely in Thailand at the time.
26:46And so I was like, yeah, I'd love to.
26:48So we moved here together.
26:50Except she ended up going home after a little bit because of her job.

26:56What do you do for a living?
26:58I've been in social media management for a few years.
27:02The past like three or four years.
27:04And then I started recently switching into more of like a OBM style and helping people automate their businesses.
27:12You must be rich.
27:13Very rich.
27:14You have a dog.
27:15Yeah.

27:24Oh, that's so sweet.
27:26Yeah.
27:27What's your favorite place in Bali?
27:28One of my favorite experiences was going to Lavina.
27:31Lavina is like where a lot of people go diving and they have just such a beautiful area to go snorkeling and all that.
27:39But also I feel like it's a little bit more of like a local experience.
27:43So you get to talk to more people.
27:45I feel like.
27:46Well, I just love people.
27:47I love talking to people.
27:48I love getting to know people.
27:49So yeah, I'm always very open.

27:57And I just really appreciate that.
27:58It's like very interesting to talk to people.
28:00What advice would you give to other Western people in Bali?
28:04Oh my gosh.
28:05Be kind.
28:06I think there's a very different style of living here and compared to a lot of different Western countries.
28:14And I think just find opportunities to like give back and really learn about the culture here because it's changed my mindset.
28:21It's changed how I see people, how I see the world.
28:25Yeah, I just think that Balinese people have such a good outlook on life and to ask them about it.
28:30They look very happy actually.
28:32Yes.
28:33Very joyful.
28:34Like they always have the energy that I think lights up a room.
28:37Thank you for your time.
28:39I really appreciate it.
28:40I really appreciate you.
28:42Have a nice day.
28:43Yeah.
