Malaysia ushered in 2026 by warmly welcoming its first international arrivals at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 as part of the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VMY2026) campaign.

00:19Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Sri Tiong King Singh personally greeted visitors,
00:24handing out VM2026-themed goodie bags containing souvenirs such as keychains, local snacks, and sponsored vouchers from various Malaysian brands and services.
00:36He said the initiative reflects the ministry's commitment to ensuring the success of VM2026
00:42and called on Malaysians to showcase their renowned hospitality and friendly spirit in welcoming international visitors.
00:54The minister added that the government has rolled out various initiatives to make VM2026 a success
01:14and urged the public to play their part, including maintaining cleanliness in public spaces.

02:01The welcoming ceremony at KLIA Terminal 1 also introduced visitors to Malaysian heritage
02:08through vibrant cultural performances, along with a taste of the country's famed fruit,
02:13durian, served as complimentary Musang King ice cream.
02:16Adding to the festive atmosphere, VM2026 mascots, Weera and Manja, the Malayan sunbears,
02:24made a special appearance, delighting tourists who eagerly pose for photographs.
02:28Similar welcoming events were held simultaneously at 55 key entry points
02:32across all 13 states on Jan. 1, marking the nationwide launch
02:37of the highly anticipated Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.
