Christmas day can be a difficult time, especially if you don't have people to celebrate with. But in Launceston, a group of volunteers is making sure there's a place at the table for everyone.

00:00Behind me Santa's helpers are preparing to put on a feast for more than 400 people.
00:07For Tasmanians who are feeling socially isolated or experiencing loneliness
00:12and giving them a place to come together and join in on the festivities.
00:17Now running for a tenth year, the sold out Launceston City Community Christmas
00:22is a collaboration between a number of charities.
00:25Some of the attendees are new to Tasmania, others have been coming every year.
00:30It's just wonderful to have so many different people, we love supporting people that are doing it tough
00:35but we also love to have other people in the community that just want to celebrate this important time together.
00:41These busy volunteers are wrapping gifts for the kids and decking the halls with boughs of tinsel and lights.
00:48On the menu, a traditional roast fare with plenty of pudding.
00:53I think I've got a list on my bench, it's about 20 things each per person, it's fantastic.
01:00Plus lots of decorations.
01:02And there's plenty of fun for young Tasmanians, hopefully by the end of tomorrow
