00:00We want to talk more about the wind, though.
00:01That certainly is the big story for today.
00:04So let's take you to Montana, where I was talking about the Christmas decorations.
00:07Here's your example.
00:08And I think these people have their Christmas decorations tied down well enough.
00:12It's surviving the very strong wind gusts that you're seeing.
00:15It's quite the feature there with the lights are doing the cool pattern thing.
00:18For a second, I thought that maybe there was this, like, slow power breakdown.
00:22But it was just a really cool effect there with those lights.
00:26I like that.
00:27Then you throw in the wind.
00:27Crazy wind out there.
00:28We have about 180,000 to 190,000 addresses without power right now across the west and the northwest.
00:36That probably is close to about 400,000 actual people in the dark.
00:39And it's getting cold and windy.
00:40So this is a nasty setup.
00:42Colorado continuing to increase 65,000 addresses without power there.
00:46Washington's trended up a little bit here in recent hours, fluctuating around 45,000 addresses in the dark.
00:51South Dakota is also in the mix there with that fierce wind and blizzard that has been in progress.
00:57So we have high wind warnings right down the spine of the Rocky Mountains there through the Continental Divide.
01:03But also the coast of Oregon and areas like Alturas, California, facing some very strong winds as well.
01:09Tonight through Friday, Great Falls, more gusts of 60 to 70 miles per hour.
01:14It's been a heck of a windy week here and we're not done with it yet.
01:18Now, along with that, that's just one story.
01:20Another one tied to this is the atmospheric river bringing more very heavy rain.
01:25And unyielding rain falling across Oregon right now.
01:28Portland down into areas around Coos Bay and up into Seattle.
01:31The rain continues.
01:32Snow levels are going to be getting lower.
01:34That's going to bring more snow into the mountains.
01:37And overall, if there's a trend here, we're going to see the heaviest rain shift south through tonight.
01:43I double-clicked.
01:44I'm getting used to this new banner.
01:45Sometimes it takes a moment before it gets going.
01:47But overall, we're going to see this push gradually southward here.
01:51I do like the timeline.
01:52It kind of mirrors what you see on the AccuWeather app and AccuWeather.com.
01:55I just need to be patient.
01:56But overall, this is pushing south and we have more snow breaking out.
01:59And even after the main atmospheric river shoves south and becomes a little bit more broken down,
02:04we'll have additional rain and snow in the northwest.
02:07And it's just a really strong onshore flow, upslope flow, more snow in the mountains,
02:12and the rain will continue to lead to flooding.
02:14So really high water out there on the rivers, the streams, the creeks,
02:17the west-facing slopes facing the worst of this flood event.
02:20But it's been two weeks of this now in Washington.
02:23And today, tonight, tomorrow, the worst of this is into Oregon.
02:27Saturday, it begins to break down a bit more.
02:30So we'll get a little bit of a mini break.
02:32But that's after feet of snow pile up through Sunday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday,
02:36in the Washington Cascades and up to a foot in the Oregon Cascades.
02:40Anna?
02:40Anna?
