00:00Can I just ask you very quickly, is the dog looking slightly chubby?
00:09I'd say a kilo. Normally when you clip a dog, it looks like it's lost weight.
00:14Yes. She was clipped and looked the same.
00:17Bean? I think we might have to put you on a diet.
00:21I'm Henry Cole. That is comfy.
00:25And along with fellow fanatic Fuzz Townsend.
00:28That's a magnificent pair of choppers up there.
00:31We're back on the hunt for vintage treasures in the nation's sheds.
00:35Look at this. We're going to buy them, fix them.
00:38That is fantastic.
00:40And sell them for a tidy profit.
00:43Welcome to Shed and Buried.
00:52We're off to Derby to meet Luke.
00:55Poor old Luke's grandad's demise.
00:58Oh, right. Okay.
01:00And we are here to help him clean some stuff out.
01:04Right. Okay. So it's not an altogether happy occasion.
01:08No, no, it's not.
01:09But he's got motorbikes, he says.
01:11Yeah?
01:12Yeah.
01:13What else?
01:14Cars.
01:15Oh, right.
01:16Fantastic, yes.
01:17Knick-knacks.
01:18Knick-knacks, cars, bikes, everything.
01:20A bit of everything sounds cool.
01:22Sounds worth going to Derby for.
01:24Yeah.
01:25Knick-a-knack-a-knick-a-knack-a-knick-a-knick-nick-a-knick-a-knick- legg-knick-a.
01:30Nick-knack-knick-nick-oh.
01:32Have you got that out of your system now?
01:34Nick-knack-knack-knack-knack-knack-knack-knack-knack.
01:35No, you haven't.
01:37Okay, well here we go. Yeah. Yeah, come on Luke. East Midlands, full of East Midlands promise.
01:46Whether we come back with a car, a bike or a knick-knack paddywhack, who knows? But Luke's place, here we come.
01:56Come on then, how can we help? Relieve you of some stuff? Yeah, basically.
02:00So look, we've got the stuff here and then there's a little shed down there? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:05And there's a little shed up there? Yeah, you can go wherever you want. Fabulous. So is everything for sale?
02:10Everything other than them up there, the bike and the car. Okay, so there's a bike and a car that we can't go near.
02:15Okay, fair enough. Everything else is for sale. Well, we'll have a rummage. Yeah, yeah.
02:18I think we should start over here with these two trims. Great, Luke. Thank you. Hey, thanks so much, mate.
02:23Hey, look, we'll see you for a haggle a bit later. Thank you. All right, later a bit. See you later.
02:27Come on, man. Oh, yeah, well, look at this lot.
02:29If this sheds an indication, this is going to be a great day, starting with a classic bit of Americana.
02:37Here we go. This is a Willis Overland, is it? Now, we know Willis, obviously, for the Willis Jeep.
02:44That's right, yeah. You don't really associate it with a pre-war pickup like this, which I utterly love.
02:49Willis Overland was once America's second biggest car manufacturer, famous for their rugged saloons and trucks.
03:01Looking at this here, this cutoff, I think that originally it was a car.
03:06So this is basically a rat rod now.
03:08It kind of is, but it's a very lovely one.
03:10I don't care what it is. It's blooming lovely.
03:12Yeah, and it's had a tax disc in the past 10 years.
03:16Yeah, right. So, obviously, it must be a runner of some description.
03:19So it's got a V5, which is great.
03:21Leather fan belt.
03:22That's right.
03:23How cool is that, man?
03:24Next door, there's a fabric-bodied Rover saloon from about the same period.
03:29It is. When I say fabric, it actually looks like it's leather.
03:33So you wouldn't want to take it out in the rain, would you?
03:37But the most striking car in this garage is something quite exceptional.
03:42If it's what it seems.
03:45The elephant in the room.
03:46That's right, OK. So, it's a Bentley.
03:48It looks a little bit like a blower, Bentley.
03:50It's supposed to, isn't it?
03:52Yeah. And actually, as that, it doesn't look too bad until, well, I kind of look in here.
03:58I can see that we've got probably a Type 9 gearbox or something.
04:02In fact, that looks like a Land Rover gearbox maybe in there.
04:04Yeah. And we've got disc brakes on the front.
04:07Shall we get Luke in?
04:08Yeah.
04:09He might know.
04:09Good idea.
04:10Luke, come on in, mate. We're interested, Luke, in this as regards what it is.
04:17It's a Bentley chassis, like a mid-50s Bentley chassis.
04:22OK, you're right then. I thought it was 80s.
04:25Yeah.
04:25Yeah, OK.
04:26It's built to look like a Bentley blower.
04:28Yes.
04:28But it's all, all the body panels are alley. My granddad made all them.
04:32Yeah.
04:32Oh, right.
04:33The front axle is an LDV front axle.
04:36Oh, OK.
04:37LDV, that.
04:38Had a few inches chopped out.
04:39Yeah.
04:39Right.
04:40And welded back together.
04:40Wow.
04:41It's a V12 Jag engine.
04:43OK.
04:44Wow.
04:44OK.
04:45And it's an automatic gearbox with a manual-looking shifter on it.
04:49Oh, right.
04:49Because it should be manual.
04:50OK, so that's straight out the Jaguar as well.
04:52Yeah, it's all just dropped in.
04:53So, your granddad built this?
04:55Yeah.
04:55Yeah, yeah, probably four or five years it took him.
04:58Yeah.
04:58Yeah, yeah.
04:59And do you drive it?
05:00Yeah, yeah, I've driven it, yeah.
05:01He's driven it.
05:02It's not very nice to drive.
05:03Isn't it?
05:04It's fast.
05:05I can believe it.
05:06But the thing is that most people, 90% of people, wouldn't know the difference.
05:11Lovely thing to have.
05:12Yeah?
05:13Fabulous.
05:14What a bit of fun.
05:17And talking of fun, granddad was also really into his bikes.
05:21There are two classic Triumphs and a BSA with a kickstart that'll put hairs on your chest
05:27and bruises on your shin.
05:30It's a 50s BSA single.
05:32Yeah.
05:33Yeah?
05:34Trials.
05:35Conversion.
05:36It does look like a heavy-duty motorcycle.
05:38Doesn't it?
05:38Of the era.
05:39It's a bit of a savage beast, this, but it does look lovely.
05:43And it looks like it's been put together to use and has been used.
05:49Moving outside.
05:53I'll open the door for you.
05:54There you go.
05:55Oh, I say.
05:56You see?
05:56It's going first, don't you?
05:58I wonder why that is.
05:58Why is that?
06:00Oh, my God.
06:01Oh, hold on.
06:02What the heck is that?
06:04Now, that, is that actually, that is actually a very early Harley, isn't it?
06:09Yeah, it's a JD.
06:10Mate, that is proper rare.
06:12Yes.
06:13Isn't it?
06:14That is a fantastic-looking machine.
06:16That would need a lot of work doing to it.
06:18But what a lovely find.
06:20And for something equally unusual...
06:23This is...
06:24Je suis anglais.
06:27Le motociclette est dans le français.
06:31OK, but it's got a Villiers engine.
06:32It's got a Villiers engine, but I think it's a Monet-Goyon.
06:37Monet-Goyon was a small French manufacturer
06:40which originally made tricycles
06:42before becoming famous for their race-winning motorbikes.
06:47I'll tell you what the best bit about this is.
06:49Is that can on the front.
06:50Yeah, that is lovely.
06:51Does that...
06:52Yeah!
06:53The problem is with these French things,
06:55they never have a registration document.
06:56No, that's a real shame, actually, isn't it?
07:00I mean, I guess, really, it's an ornament, isn't it?
07:04It is, but it's rather a nice ornament.
07:05Yeah.
07:06So there's one last shed just up here.
07:08OK.
07:08Come on, then.
07:09Lead the moment.
07:09Nice.
07:10Duff.
07:10Oh, duffage.
07:16Oh, look.
07:17Hold on.
07:17I'm feeling a little hoarse today.
07:22The last shed is the most eclectic yet.
07:25He's got a rare Danish motorbike.
07:28This is an unusual thing, isn't it?
07:30You don't see something like that very often.
07:32A Nimbus, yeah.
07:33Well, I suppose if you see two of them,
07:35they are Nimbai, aren't they?
07:38Some Goodyear signs.
07:40I like that.
07:40I like that.
07:41But I even like this one.
07:43And it has Sutton Coldfield on there.
07:45Something to do with where you lived.
07:48Yeah.
07:50An MG TF.
07:53This is a beautiful kind of rolling resto.
07:55Do you know what I mean?
07:56Do you know, I think that this,
07:58with a bit of a clean,
07:59and a little bit of a polish,
08:01and not too much,
08:03restoration would be a lovely thing.
08:07And a trio of hand-cranked petrol pumps
08:10from the 1920s.
08:12These things, you know,
08:13they're the new antiques,
08:14as I keep saying to you, Fuzzer.
08:16Three of them in one place.
08:18You know, that is a great thing.
08:20I mean, really,
08:21you've got your roadside or country garage set up.
08:25It's done.
08:25Ready made.
08:26Love it.
08:27So, look, right, my God, what are we...
08:28Now, hang on.
08:29We've got a lot of stuff.
08:31We've got that lovely Willis Overland pickup.
08:33That's right.
08:34That's great.
08:35We've got the two Triumphs and the BSA Killer.
08:37And the Monet Goyle.
08:39My favourite.
08:40Yeah.
08:40OK.
08:41Right, come on then, Luke.
08:44Let's rebuke Luke with a nice little learner.
08:46OK, mate, look, we've had a ball, OK, but there are prices, OK?
08:56It's now time to get down to busyness.
08:59Yes.
09:00OK, where are we going to start?
09:01OK, let's start with a big item, an overland.
09:06Oh, the Willis pickup?
09:08Yeah, Willis Overland.
09:08Yeah.
09:09Price?
09:10Eight grand-ish.
09:12Oh, yeah, OK.
09:13Yeah, OK.
09:14Now then, there's a BSA that looks like it could break your leg at any moment, kicking it.
09:18Yeah.
09:19Yeah?
09:19Is that for sale?
09:20Yeah.
09:21How much is that?
09:21Three grand.
09:22Three?
09:23Three grand.
09:23It might be worth breaking your leg then for that.
09:25Yeah.
09:26OK, moving down to the Blue Shed.
09:28There's a Monet Goya Frenchie thing.
09:30Yeah.
09:31Does it run?
09:33Yes.
09:33Does it?
09:34Yes.
09:34How much is that?
09:35Fifteen.
09:36Fifteen hundred quid.
09:37There are three petrol pumps at the top.
09:40Yeah, probably around 700 each.
09:42What happens if I said to you, for the red pump and the green pump and the Monet Goya thingy, two and a half?
10:01Oh, yeah, well, look at this lot.
10:07We're up in Derby with Luke, bidding on a great collection of cars and bikes, assembled by his grandad.
10:14We've offered two and a half grand for a French Monet Goya and a pair of pumps, but will he take it?
10:21Two and a half.
10:23Yeah, I think that's fair.
10:24What about adding those Goodyear signs in as well?
10:28What about the three of them for 150?
10:30Sounds good to me.
10:31Okay.
10:32Sounds good to me, mate.
10:33We're in.
10:34Come back and buy some more.
10:35We will, mate.
10:36I promise you.
10:41Next day, back at the shed, Alan and Skid take a look-see.
10:46Now, what do you reckon?
10:48Initial reaction is that someone's had this running recently.
10:50How do you know that?
10:51Cables look nice, the tyres look nice.
10:52There's like shiny bolts here and there.
10:54What do you reckon?
10:55It looks loosely, nicely put together.
10:56Luke's did say that it was running recently, did he?
11:00Well, that's right, because his grandad did like to have his bikes up and going.
11:05The problem is, someone said recently means 10 years ago.
11:07Yeah, exactly.
11:08The other thing is, I think we've got to put rather a large fuel filter in it, because I
11:14did put my finger in the tank, and it's a little bit grumbly.
11:18I love the styling of it, with the valance mug guards and the chain guard, and it's a lovely
11:23looking little thing.
11:25If it runs nicely, it's charming, isn't it?
11:28Yeah, it is, isn't it?
11:29Let's just get that going and see, well, hopefully it'll go quite quickly.
11:32These two, let's take the no smoking signs off.
11:35Can I give a word of caution, though?
11:37Yeah, right, because there could be stuff underneath.
11:39No, it might pull the paint off.
11:41You could just peel off a little bit, and see if it, look, there's a bit there.
11:46Look at that, oh, hold on.
11:47So's the paint.
11:48Oh, has he had the paint?
11:50There we go.
11:52See, there you go.
11:54Totty, we're having a rival.
11:56Okay, there's a little arrival.
11:57Yeah, a regular.
11:58I just wondered where she'd got to, actually.
12:00Oh, yes.
12:02Now, can we just talk about the CH1s?
12:04I think what we do is we just give them a clean.
12:08I think if it's all right with you, Skiddlington Miner,
12:11we take the nozzles off and give them a polish.
12:14Yes, yes.
12:15I don't think there's much point in polishing these.
12:18It's a lot of work.
12:18No, okay.
12:19It's a lot of work for not a lot of plus, I don't think.
12:21Yeah.
12:21Okay, so look, I think first things first, though,
12:24is to stroke the tot.
12:27Yes.
12:27There you go, totty stroke.
12:29Yeah, there's a totty stroke.
12:30Hand for one for you, Fuzz.
12:31There we go.
12:32Yeah, I don't want to spill my tea.
12:33Stroke him, stroke him.
12:33She loves you, desperately.
12:36Okay, all right, now we've done that,
12:37we can get the Moni Goy on going.
12:41So, allez, allez.
12:42Though it's a French bike,
12:44it's got a British Villiers engine.
12:47Alan checks for a spark.
12:49That is a massive spark.
12:50Fuzz finds some fuel line,
12:53cuts it to length,
12:54and installs that fuel filter.
12:57Right, now,
12:59a bit of fuel,
13:01and let's see if she goes.
13:03Skid pumps up the tyres.
13:06Fuzz fuels her up,
13:08and after tickling the carb,
13:11Alan stops on the kickstart.
13:12Oh, yes!
13:20Brilliant.
13:20It works.
13:22It works really well.
13:24Yeah, that's fantastic.
13:25That's amazing.
13:26Well, you can't beat a good old Villiers.
13:31Here we go.
13:32It works.
13:33It's fantastic.
13:33Really well.
13:34Oh, my God, that's fantastico.
13:37Boys.
13:39Oh, is that the fall?
13:40Yeah.
13:40Why don't you take it down the lane?
13:42You do it,
13:43because I know you've fiddled.
13:45I'm surprised,
13:46because I thought it might be
13:47a little bit gummed up in the tank,
13:48and we might get loads of dirt through,
13:50but actually...
13:51Nice fuel filter on it.
13:52Yeah, we put that on as a precaution.
13:54Oh, lovely.
13:55Well, look.
13:55It's good.
13:56Why don't we get it out,
13:56take it up and down,
13:57see if it rides.
13:58Yeah.
13:59Blimey, that looks really good.
14:05He's off.
14:06Though it doesn't look that comfortable.
14:10The steering's as sure-footed as a drunken sailor.
14:14The engine's smokier than new grade cigar.
14:24Okay.
14:26The worst bike I've ever ridden.
14:28The steering,
14:31it flops back,
14:32let's see that.
14:32Oh, yeah.
14:34So it makes it swerve and wiggle everywhere.
14:36I wonder why you were looking like you were going into the edge.
14:38You looked a bit wayward on the straight.
14:39Yeah, it's constantly getting...
14:41I thought you were just checking out the handling.
14:43No, no, but it's typical him, right?
14:45Yeah.
14:45That this is unridable,
14:47and he's going like this.
14:48There's a massive, great smile on his face.
14:50Yeah, there is.
14:50You never see Al happier.
14:54Well done, Al.
14:55I haven't seen you laugh that much for a while.
15:02Before we primp up the pumps,
15:04Skid's going to give Fuzz a hand
15:05cleaning those signs
15:07with elbow grease and paint shine.
15:09Let's have a look.
15:10See what we've got?
15:10There you go, look.
15:11There we are, look.
15:12Yes.
15:13That was brown before.
15:14It was.
15:15Let's see if we can clean Scotland.
15:16Hey, look, you're taking the motorway off.
15:21Nice and gently there, Skid.
15:23In the 50s and 60s,
15:25Goodyear was a dominant player
15:26in the British tyre market.
15:28Signs like these were half instructional,
15:30half advertising.
15:32It's public information days, I think.
15:34I'm sticking to the sea now.
15:36You frighten me.
15:38Maybe a little bit of penetrating oil
15:41or something like that over the top.
15:43Or water dispersant,
15:44just to keep the rust at bay.
15:47It's really far from perfect, isn't it?
15:49Oh, yeah, yeah.
15:51It's better than it was though, mate.
15:53It was almost totally illegible before,
15:56but now, what do you know?
15:58I quite like that.
15:59Yeah, cool.
16:00Have you got a space on the wall
16:02marked out already?
16:03I will make sure that I have one.
16:05Yeah, cool.
16:06There's always space.
16:06Next day, we move on to the pumps.
16:17Hey, so now look, right,
16:18I think to maximise value
16:21and minimise workload.
16:23I like the sound of that.
16:24If I wash them,
16:26well, we can both wash them together,
16:27and then you take the nozzles
16:29and give them a polish.
16:30Yes, absolutely,
16:31because that always adds value.
16:34So we've got a plan.
16:36We've got sponges.
16:37We've got water.
16:38And within 10 minutes,
16:39we've got progress.
16:41There's a lot of black stuff
16:42coming off this home.
16:43Yeah, they do.
16:45It's like when you wash a vintage car.
16:47The window rubbers put black streaks
16:49down the paintwork.
16:50It deteriorates, doesn't it?
16:52The nozzles are going to be easier to deal with.
16:55There we go.
16:56Right, twist that, son.
16:57Watch your hands on there.
16:58They're disgusting.
16:59Don't worry, I'll wash them.
17:00Are you sure?
17:01Well, I'm going to get black polishing them.
17:02There you are.
17:03Off they come.
17:05Don't drop it.
17:06And Skid heads down to the polishing mop.
17:10Back in the day,
17:11brass was very common.
17:13Good-looking,
17:14corrosion-resistant
17:15and easy to machine.
17:17It was the ideal metal
17:18for the car industry.
17:20It's going rather well.
17:22Oh, mate, look at them.
17:23Check them out.
17:24That is stunning.
17:25Look at those.
17:27Those are just...
17:28Blum in heck.
17:30I mean, that hasn't taken that long.
17:31I mean, I've only had one cup of tea.
17:33You've got those new mops,
17:35the red ones.
17:35Shufflers.
17:36Which are quite abrasive.
17:38And then I'll put it on the string mop
17:39with wax.
17:41Back on they go.
17:42And we pause to admire.
17:44Beautiful.
17:45Look at that.
17:46There we go.
17:47It just adds the value, man.
17:48It's fantastic, isn't it?
17:49Yeah, so simple.
17:50Polish like that, it's done.
17:51They're ready for sale, really, aren't they?
17:53Yeah, mate.
17:54Look, they're washed.
17:55They're brass clean.
17:57Everything.
17:57It's beautiful.
17:58Hose is done.
17:59It's beautiful.
18:00Yeah.
18:00Really, honestly.
18:01In the afternoon, we move on to prettifying the Monet Goyon.
18:08I actually am giving myself a pat on the back.
18:13Right.
18:14Why?
18:14Because I've got some Monet Goyon stickers still.
18:19In stock.
18:19In stock, mate.
18:21I thought they...
18:21Fully available.
18:22I thought they were MG car ones.
18:24Well, you did, but they're not.
18:26These are Monet Goyon.
18:30In in the middle, push out to the sides.
18:32That's what they say, isn't it?
18:33Yes, exactly.
18:33You're learning.
18:36We can stand back and admire in a second.
18:39Oh, mate.
18:44That's really nice.
18:45All right, next.
18:49Next for our Monet is a proper ride out.
18:52Alan wasn't too keen first time round,
18:54but having blown out a few of the cobwebs,
18:57she does feel better to me.
18:59I mean, these little French mopeds or motorbikes
19:03are the real cheap end of the marquee.
19:06You know, they weren't supposed to be, you know, race-bred bikes.
19:14Admittedly, our Monet may be pumping out quite a lot of smoke,
19:18and she's not exactly fast,
19:20but what she lacks in speed, she makes up for in style.
19:25She's got a character to her.
19:27I guess she's ready for sale,
19:36but she needs quite a bit of work on her.
19:39But she goes.
19:42That's all that matters.
19:45What we need is someone with a taste for small bikes
19:49who's prepared to do a bit of tinkering.
19:51And next day, the very punter arrives.
19:55Paul, our local builder.
19:58I think you'll quite like this,
19:59only because I know you're up for these kind of little motorcycles.
20:03Skiddy, Paul's here.
20:05Hello, Paul.
20:06Hello, bud. How are you?
20:06Yeah, good.
20:07It is nice, isn't it?
20:08Oh, you like it?
20:09OK, cos I thought you liked it.
20:10I was a bit worried.
20:11Love it.
20:12Only because of the patina might have been a bit too much for you, mate.
20:16Well, the thing with them is, they have flair.
20:18Even though that's only a little bike,
20:20the styling and effort in mug guards and what have you,
20:25cases, they're just beautiful.
20:26Yeah, like the chain guard, etc.
20:28Yeah, yeah.
20:29I mean, I love it.
20:29You like it?
20:30Love it.
20:321650.
20:32No, no, no.
20:34Don't whistle like that.
20:36He always goes like that.
20:37It's normally traders.
20:38I could throw in a couple of pumps,
20:40or are you not up for them?
20:41Nah.
20:42Yeah?
20:421,400.
20:44I kind of split the difference.
20:46I know it's not exact, but 1,500?
20:49Yeah, go on, innit?
20:50It looked good in the collection, so 1,500.
20:52All right, mate.
20:52Hey, look, cheers, Paul.
20:53It's a lovely little thing.
20:54All right.
20:54Great.
20:55I'll have it delivered and sent to your room.
20:57Yes.
20:58OK.
20:59Thank you very much.
20:59Pleasure.
21:00Cheers.
21:00Yeah, great to do business again.
21:02So, this lot was two and a half grand.
21:111,500 for that?
21:13Yeah.
21:13So that's a grand left.
21:15Yeah, so that's 500 quid each.
21:17Yeah.
21:17And these gotta be 800 quid a pop.
21:20So hang about, is that 600 quid profit?
21:23Well, it would be if we sell these for 800 quid each.
21:26Yeah, that's all right, isn't it?
21:28Mate.
21:28Well, it's cost us as a sticker, basically.
21:30Happy days.
21:31Happy days.
21:32And these are well worth 800 quid each.
21:33Yeah, I might.
21:35Hmm.
21:36I might keep one.
21:37I don't think you should.
21:38I don't think you should.
21:38The, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, and the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the.
