02:29Japanese Prime Minister Sanai Takechi said previously that having renounced all rights and claims under the Treaty of San Francisco,
02:41we are not in a position to recognize Taiwan's legal status.
02:45Japan's Foreign Minister, when asked about whether it means that Japan does not recognize China's sovereignty over Taiwan,
02:51repeated what's said in the Treaty of San Francisco,
02:53and said that our government's basic position on Taiwan is as stated in the 1972 joint statement,
02:59and nothing more and nothing less, what's our comment?
03:02The Japanese side has been ambiguous on its position concerning the Taiwan question.
03:10They deliberately chose not to mention the Cairo Declaration,
03:15the Potsdam Proclamation, and Japanese instrument of surrender that stated in explicit terms
03:19that Taiwan shall be restored to China.
03:22The Japanese side kept sidestepping the issue by just repeating that its position remains unchanged
03:42without fully articulating what the position is.
03:46What the Japanese side deliberately chose not to mention is probably not only its position on the Taiwan question.
03:57Today marks the 82nd anniversary of the Cairo Declaration.
04:01Besides the declaration, a series of international legal treaties and instruments stipulate China's sovereignty over Taiwan
04:08and are important outcomes of the world's anti-fascist war,
04:13which constitutes an integral part of the post-war international order.
04:20Observing relevant provisions is the obligation that the Japanese side must fulfill under international law
04:27The Japanese side now says nothing about the above-mentioned instruments with full effect under international law,
04:42but keeps bringing up a treaty that was signed with the exclusion of Asian countries,
04:48especially China, who has suffered the most from Japan's colonial rule.
04:53This is a disregard for the painful memory of Japan's militarist aggression,
04:58a distortion of the history of and truths behind the world's anti-fascist war,
05:04and a blatant challenge to the United Nations authority and the post-war international order.
05:12In recent years, Japan has been drastically readjusting its security policy,
05:18increasing defense spending year after year,
05:20and planning to revise its three non-nuclear principles.
05:23Certain forces in Japan are trying every means to break free from the pacifist constitution
05:28and attempt to turn their back to Japan's obligations
05:32as a defeated country stipulated in international law.
05:36They have never, ever truly taken lessons from history,
05:41never faced up to or done so certain about Japan's untold war crimes,
05:47and never taken real actions to counter the reviving militarism.
05:54Rather, they attempt to whitewash and deliberately make no specific mention of the aggression
06:01to let the world forget that history and relax their restrictions.
06:07Such kind of approach will not deceive people around the world.
06:11The course of history must not be reversed,
06:16and the bottom line of peace must not be crossed.
06:20Japan prevaricated to downplay the situation while continuing down the wrong path.
06:26China would absolutely not accept that.
06:29On major issues of right and wrong,
06:32Japan should harbor no illusion
06:35that somehow the issue would rob itself.
06:39We urge the Japanese side to learn from history,
06:43do self-searching,
06:44take seriously what it has heard from the Chinese side,
06:48earnestly retract the erroneous remarks,
06:50and take practical steps
06:52to honor its political commitments to China.

07:54The Japanese government recently added three sets of so-called records
08:04in its National Museum of Territory and Sovereignty in Tokyo
08:07as so-called evidence to back Japan's illegal claims over Diao Yudau.
08:11What is China's comment?
08:14Diao Yudau and its affiliated islands
08:16have been China's territory since ancient times.
08:19China's sovereignty over Diao Yudau has clear-cut historical evidence
08:24and solid legal basis.
08:27Proofs in this regard are numerous
08:29and can be found even in Japan's diplomatic records,
08:33maps, and articles of historians.
08:37The so-called historical records
08:38that Japan made so much efforts to patch up
08:41were quoted out of context and not convincing at all
08:45and this only proves that Japan's illegal claims do not hold water.
