00:00these are the moments when cops walk straight into deadly traps starting with four deputies
00:12lured into the home of an unstable man armed with machine guns sheriff's office
00:17on new year's eve 2017 in highlands ranch colorado 37 year old matthew real a lawyer and iraq war
00:34veteran who served in 2009 called douglas county deputies to report his roommate and request a
00:40restraining order against him upon arrival and determining real was the source of the problem
00:45deputies left only to be called back around 5 20 a.m two hours later by then riel who was actively
00:52posting profanity laced youtube rants attacking douglas county sheriff tony spurlock and calling
00:58for him to be fired and for the department to be scrapped had barricaded himself inside his room
01:03concerned for their safety and aware that real was a mentally ill war veteran with multiple firearms
01:09four deputies with ballistic shields entered the home guided by the roommate and lined up outside
01:14real's bedroom door urging him to surrender so they could help him unaware he was inside preparing
01:20to ambush them
01:25real armed with more than 15 firearms and over 1 000 rounds of ammunition fired more than 400 shots hitting
01:46all four deputies three managed to escape but 29 year old deputy zachary parrish a father of two
01:52daughters was struck multiple times and went down in the hallway even real's roommate who had let the
01:57deputies in was forced to run for his life
02:00and we called in additional resources where in the chest where in the chest
02:13we're in the chest stay with me
02:17stay with me open it open it
02:21and we call in additional resources where in the chest where in the chest
02:25chest. I'm right here. I don't see you dude. She's inside with them. I'm shot in the arm
02:38and the leg Sarge. Open it. I need a flashlight over here. You're okay. You're okay. I don't
02:48see blood. I don't see blood. He's shooting out the window. Get it out of here. This
02:53right over here. Over here. On the ground. On the ground. I got you buddy. I got you.
02:59I got you. We don't care about you. I got you buddy. Right in front of us. Ready? One, two, three. We got you.
03:16Backseat of my truck.
03:17Ready? One's got a chest with one shot in the arm. The three wounded deputies were rushed to the
03:31hospital while the remaining officers regrouped to mount a rescue for the fourth deputy who couldn't
03:36escape and was still at the mercy of the gunman. I gotta go. Let's put together a rescue team to get
03:42that one deputy out. Parrish, can you hear me? Parrish, can you hear me?
03:58No.
03:58The SWAT team moved in, confronted Reel, and shot and killed him. With Reel down,
04:18officers recovered Deputy Zachary Parrish's body. He was already gone. The incident left two dead,
04:24the suspect and Deputy Parrish, and injured everyone else. And even today, Zach's wounded
04:29colleagues still regret not being able to go back in and rescue him. He was alone in that apartment.
04:35He died there alone. Even though I know I would have been killed, at least he would have been alone
04:40if I would have stayed in there with him. That's what caused me. Police later learned the attack was
04:44no random outburst. Reel's social media showed a long-standing hatred for law enforcement.
04:49That discovery came too late. Deputy Zach's wife was left a widow, and his daughters were left
04:55without their father. Next up, a deeply disturbed man tricked cops to his home and attacked them with
05:00a tactical knife and a revolver. On April 1st, 2020, in the Bronx, New York, NYPD officers responded to
05:15reports of a man armed with a revolver and a tactical knife, threatening people and causing
05:20a disturbance. Rushing in to stop the danger, they didn't know the caller. 55-year-old Ricardo Cardona
05:27had called the police on himself and was lying in wait, armed and ready to ambush the unsuspecting
05:33officers.
05:37Put the gun down! Put the gun down! Put it down! Move it to the right! Move it to the left!
05:46Drop the gun!
05:59Drop the gun!
06:02Drop the gun!
06:06Moving back!

06:26Rush the bus, rush the bus!
06:28We need a bus at this location, that's fine!
06:304-2-Charlie, you okay?
06:32No!

06:38Please kill me!
06:40Drop the gun!
06:41Drop the gun!
06:42You okay?
06:43Drop the gun!
06:44You okay?
06:45Come here, please.
06:46It's okay.
06:47He still has...
06:48Do not approach, he still has the weapon.
06:52It's still okay.
06:53He still has the gun on him.
06:54He's still in reach of it.
06:56Watch out for the crossfire.
06:59Yo, yo, come off, come off.
07:02Where's the gun?
07:03Where's the gun?
07:04I got it!
07:05I got it!
07:06Get the knife!
07:07Get the knife!
07:08Officers opened fire, neutralized the suspect, and moved in to take him into custody.
07:13He was shot 11 times, with seven rounds striking him.
07:17He was rushed to the hospital, where he confessed to officers that he had tested positive for COVID-19, and had called them in hopes of provoking them into killing him.
07:26The gun he'd brandished turned out to be an inoperable Civil War-era cap and ball revolver, an antique that couldn't fire.
07:33Cardona died five days later from COVID-19 complications worsened by his gunshot wounds.
07:39Next up, a dangerous man carries out a long-awaited vendetta against cops he lured into his home, after they had humiliated him earlier that day.
07:48On October 12, 2022, in Bristol, Connecticut, three officers responded to the home of 35-year-old Nicholas Brutcher after he called 911, claiming his brother was drunk and aggressive, and falsely insisted no one in the house had any firearms.
08:14Hours earlier, Brutcher and his brother had gotten into a bar fight and clashed with police, ending with their car being towed and their mother scolding them.
08:23Humiliated and fueled by long-standing alcohol and drug problems, made worse after his wife left him for a close friend, Brutcher armed himself, put on camouflage, and waited by the side door for the officers he had lured there, unaware they were walking into a deadly ambush.
08:40Here, right now.
08:44Oh!
08:45Oh!
08:54Oh!
08:55Damn you!
08:57Damn you!
08:58Oh!
08:59Oh!
09:01Oh!
09:02Brutcher gunned down Officer Dustin DeMonte, a father of two with a third child on the way,
09:07shooting him six times in the head, torso, and extremities, and Officer Alex Hamsey,
09:12an eight-year veteran, 24 times in the head and torso, continuing to fire even as they lay dead
09:18on the ground. The third officer, 26-year-old four-year veteran Alec Lurado, was shot in the
09:24right leg but managed to escape, seeing Brutcher continue to desecrate the bodies of his fallen
09:29colleagues. Officer Lurado stepped back in despite his injuries and fought to defend their honor.
09:35Bracing himself against a cruiser, Officer Lurado took aim at Brutcher from roughly 40 yards away
09:41and fired a single, precise shot, striking him at the base of the skull and killing him instantly
09:46as his parents watched and screamed. Officer Lurado, who delivered the decisive shot that ended
09:52Nicholas's life, survived his own gunshot wound to the leg. Next up, an unstable alcoholic called
09:58Police to his home with one goal, to kill them. On August 26, 2023, in Los Angeles, California,
10:11several LAPD officers responded to an apartment building after 51-year-old Angel Garrido,
10:17an alcoholic who had been drinking for three days straight and had downed two pints of vodka that
10:21day, called dispatch and said they should send police or he would start hurting people.
10:26Hearing what sounded like his girlfriend in the background, dispatchers refused to take any
10:30chances and sent officers to Angel's apartment, unaware he was already lying in wait, armed with
10:36a large kitchen knife.
10:40Hold it.
10:42One more wire in here.
10:46We have a long hallway.
10:48We're going to break off two additional units.
10:52Let me see your hands! Let me see your hands! Let me see your hands! Let me see your hands!
11:02Let me see your hands. Let me see your hands.
11:06Drop the knife. Drop the knife. Drop the knife.
11:14Garrido was shot three times, with two rounds hitting his right arm and right leg.
11:19He was rushed to the hospital and survived, and from there, it was a one-way ticket to jail,
11:24where he was charged with one felony count of assault upon a peace officer.
11:28But because of his severe alcoholism and mental health struggles, he was offered two years of
11:33pre-trial mental health diversion, including residential substance abuse treatment,
11:38after which the charge could be dismissed if he successfully completes the program.
11:43Next up, a mentally unstable man lured more than a dozen armed officers to his home
11:48in an attempt to kill them all.
11:50Hands right now! Hands right now!
11:52On July 9th, 2022, in Queens, New York, more than a dozen officers responded to the home
12:03of 60-year-old Raul Antonio Hardy, a black man with mental health issues who was high.
12:08Though the cops didn't know that yet, Hardy had called 911 himself, threatening to kill
12:13the police chief, the governor, any officers sent to his home, and change the entire government,
12:18even giving dispatch his address. As multiple units rolled up, Hardy armed himself with two
12:24guns from the basement of the home he shared with his aunt and cousin, ready to ambush the cops.
12:30But officers, aware of the threat at hand, spread out and secured the perimeter.
12:34And when Hardy stepped outside to confront them, it was a bloodbath.

13:13Shots fired!
13:38hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo!
13:52Shots fired! Shots fired! Shots fired!
14:01Stop shooting, Stop shooting!
14:04Guys, he's gone. He's down. He's down, he's down.
14:06Hardy was shot at 134 times, with 32 rounds hitting him.
14:11He somehow survived long enough to be taken to the hospital, where he died shortly afterward.
14:16The shooting was ruled a justified use of force, and none of the officers were disciplined.
14:21Next up, an unstable, divorced mother of three, about to lose custody of her kids,
14:26lured cops to her home to kill them and, and take out her rage.
14:31Hello?
14:33Where the fuck are my children?
14:36Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!
14:38On April 28th, 2025, in Casper, Wyoming, 37-year-old Jodi Renee Cobia, a stay-at-home mother of three,
14:46called 911 claiming a man dressed in black had broken into her home and that her life was in danger.
14:53In reality, Cobia was going through a bitter divorce and custody battle with her ex-husband
14:58and was known by neighbors as a crazy lady with a pistol who feared someone would take her children.
15:04Instead of seeking help, she decided to take out her frustrations on police officers,
15:09luring them to the house and setting up an ambush as they arrived to save her from the supposed intruder.
15:15911, what's your emergency?
15:18Yes, please come quick.
15:20There's a burglar breaking into the house.
15:23Yes, please hurry.
15:24He's armed and dangerous.
15:26Okay, do you know who he is?
15:27No, he's luring all black.
15:30Please show up.
15:32Okay, is he inside?
15:34Yes, he's inside.
15:35Okay, okay.
15:36I just needed to take a breath.
15:38My partner's getting them heading that way while I'm talking to you so this isn't slowing anything down, okay?
15:42Where are you at in the house?
15:45I'm in the back room.
15:46Hurry up.
15:47Okay.
15:47Yeah, you can just keep an eye towards the back of the stairs.
15:55Here.
16:10Hello?
16:11Where the fuck am I accelerating?
16:13Oh, hey!
16:13Shots fired.
16:18Shots fired, shots fired, three six six.
16:20Shots fired.
16:24Where the fuck am I accelerating?
16:30Shots fired!
16:31Shots fired, shots fired.
16:32Three six six, shots fired.
16:41Shots fired.
16:42Shots fired, shots fired.
16:44247, shots fired. Shots fired.
16:56Shots fired, shots fired, 366, shots fired.
17:00Shots fired.
17:04Hold on, no, hold.
17:06Hold.
17:08Hold.
17:10Any units responding, I need a shield of the front door.
17:30Clear.
17:36Okay, I'm going to get gloves real fast.
17:38You got med bag.
17:44She's got no pulse.
17:46One GSW center mass.
17:48One exit, both are chest sealed.
17:50She raised her gun at the officer and pulled the trigger, but it only clicked.
17:56The gun had jammed, giving the officer a fighting chance when she clearly had the advantage.
18:00She was shot five times and struck twice, received life-saving treatment, but ultimately died at the hospital.
18:06And just like that, her husband got full custody of her children.
18:10Next, a chronic drug user lured patrol officers, negotiators, and the tactical team to his home, where he held the advantage and ambushed them.
18:20On March 16th, 2021, in Los Angeles, California, LAPD officers and SWAT surrounded the home of 36-year-old Jorge Armando Cerda after his aunt and other relatives reported that Curda, a chronic meth user on a two-day binge, was armed with multiple guns and firing sporadically into the backyard.
18:46With Curda both high and heavily armed, patrol officers, SWAT unit, and negotiators were all deployed.
18:53But none of that changed one fact.
18:55They were stepping onto Cerda's turf, where he held the advantage.
18:59George, come to the front door of one of the windows. Wave your hands at me. Make sure your hands are empty, please. Come to the window. I want to make sure you're okay.
19:09A lot of people in your family want to speak with you. They all care and love you.
19:14Can you come to the door of the window?
19:16Suspects?
19:18Steve, Steve!
19:19Let me see your hands!
19:20Get off the air!
19:21Suspects is coming out the two-three corner of the door.
19:24George, let me see your hands!
19:29Let me hear it around. You good?
19:30Okay, everybody hold the air. Marify the shots fired by the Suspects.
19:34Alright?
19:35Yeah, I got hit.
19:36Roger.
19:37I got hit in the vest.
19:38You got hit in the vest?
19:39Yeah.
19:40Alright, everybody.
19:41Come on.
19:42Rodney got hit in the vest.
19:43Come on, put your hands up!
19:45Okay.
19:46We're gonna check the...
19:47...the running wheel.
19:49Alright, hide you.
19:50Hide you.
19:51Yeah.
19:52You want me to take your place?
19:55No, I'm good.
19:56I do.
19:57Do you see him?
19:58I can't see him, no.
19:59Not here.
20:00As they couldn't get him out with pleas, coaxing and even using beanbag rounds, they switched
20:05to tear gas.
20:06But Serta had an evil surprise for them.
20:09Okay, let's regain the gas point.
20:11Regain the gas point.
20:12Hold it.
20:13I can't see him.
20:14We're gonna go from here.
20:15Yes, go ahead.
20:16We're gonna see him.
20:17Roll that.
20:18No!
20:19No.
20:20You're gonna go in.

21:10Do not reach for that rifle, yeah, he's down, he's down, he's down, suspect's down.
21:23What's that, Roger? Talk to me, Roger.
21:28Put your hand there.
21:32Do not move.
21:35Be advised, we have suspect down on the ground.
21:39Do not move!
21:41You go for that rifle, I'm gonna shoot you again.
21:45Keep your hands on him.
21:48Here, cover him, cover him.
21:50Come on, come on.
21:54Hey, come on, hold him.
22:00You gotta cuss, you gotta cuss?
22:02Yeah, yeah.
22:03Come on, I gotta cuss.
22:04Serda shot SWAT officer Rodney Williams in the neck and chest.
22:08The round of his chest was stopped by his vest, but the neck shot shattered his gas mask, entered his cheek, and exited the back of his neck.
22:16Officer Williams survived.
22:17Serda didn't.
22:18He was hit three times and died at the hospital from his gunshot wounds.
