00:00According to a recent study from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln,
00:03heating your child's food in plastic food and drink containers in the microwave
00:08could be detrimental to their health.
00:10In a seemingly harmless parental act, Money Talks News confirms
00:14microwaving plastic baby food containers can disperse as many as 2 billion nanoplastics
00:20and 4 million microplastics per square centimeter of the container.
00:24Discovering the impact of these particles on a child's health
00:28does require further research, but the researchers state
00:31when introducing these particles to cultured embryonic kidney cells,
00:35around 75% of the cells died within a couple of days.
00:40The lead author of the study, Qazi Albab Hussain, says,
00:44Just as we understand the impact of calories and nutrients on our health,
00:48knowing the extent of plastic particle ingestion is crucial in understanding
00:52the potential harm they may cause.
00:54Many studies, including ours, are demonstrating that the toxicity
00:58of micro and nanoplastics is highly linked to the level of exposure.
01:03The study stresses the need to find plastic materials
01:06that are microplastics-free or nanoplastics-free.
