00:00The Disease Resistance Project, its primary role is to develop and investigate and find
00:10new genes for resistance for a number of diseases of lupin, which include anthracnose,
00:16phomopsis, CMV and sclerotinia, and so these diseases are either major yield impediment
00:25or end use issues for lupins.
00:30What we're looking to do is through having a diverse set of genotypes, screen all those
00:37diseases against those genotypes, see if we can identify some resistant lines within
00:42that which can then we can develop molecular markers for and incorporate into the lupin
00:48breeding program.
00:49So the benefit of this is that we will identify new sources of resistance for some diseases
00:55and for a disease like sclerotinia hopefully identify the first source of resistance.
01:00And then the longer term benefit is that the lupin breeding program will have more options
01:06in terms of disease resistance genes for these diseases and over time we'll be able to incorporate
01:14those to just provide a greater stability to lupin production in the face of those diseases.
