Farms of the Future project lead Hamish Dickson talks about the resources in the schools agtech kit at the Australian National Field Days. Video by Elizabeth Anderson.
00:00So this is the school's ag tech kit. So this is a resource that we've provided for high school ag teachers and what comes at heart of it is the school teachers resource which walks through ag tech fundamentals and how it can be used in the high school classroom.
00:15So the resource is there for teaching about ag tech on farm, how hard is it using it, what's the decision making process that can be employed in terms of finding the right tech for each part.
00:25It's also the Ag Guide which is a TOKEL publication and it's Ag Tech and Introduction, that's a great resource.
00:32It's also a resource related to different types of ag tech and productivity.
00:36But what also is part of the school's ag tech kit that we've offered to now be over 100 schools and it's closer to years, an opportunity to get hold of just some simple sensors.
00:47So these sensors are something you can use in practice to help with teaching.
00:52So they just give you live data from your ag plot or even the classroom if that's the easiest opportunity.
00:58This is a simple temperature humidity sensor.
01:01There's a soil probe and you could use it even as simply as this in a classroom environment or you could put it out in the paddock as well.
01:07And there's another option around water tank monitor and also a cable sensor as well.
01:14So there are a few things that are part of the school's ag resource.
01:21So you can use it as a toolbox.
01:22So that's a good thing.
01:23You can use valentine technology and use it as a tool, like you can use it as the right tool.
