00:00I acknowledge the findings of the audit office report.
00:03Decarbonisation is one of my four key priorities of my economic vision.
00:08So delivering on the energy strategy for me is absolutely critical.
00:12We are taking on board the recommendations from the audit office and we'll be implementing them.
00:17One of those recommendations is one thing that we were actually already doing in terms of the mid-strategy review,
00:23which will be published before the end of the year.
00:26So for me, delivering on the energy strategy is really crucial in terms of what we're trying to achieve.
00:32We have statutory targets to meet and we are making good progress, but we will be reviewing all of that
00:38and we'll be publishing that report before the end of the year.
00:41Good progress. Some people see it as a shambles.
00:43Well, I certainly don't see it as a shambles. This is a ten year strategy.
00:47There is a lot of policy development work that has to be done to ensure that we're creating the right conditions
00:53to implement the energy strategy.
00:55We are midway through and we are making good progress, particularly in some areas.
01:00And over coming weeks and months, there will be a number of announcements to support the delivery of the energy strategy.
01:06Over recent weeks, we have announced the renewable electricity price guarantee scheme,
01:11which will be critical in delivering against our 80 by 2030 target.
01:15So we acknowledge the finance of the report and we will be implementing these recommendations.
01:20As I said, decarbonisation is one of my key priorities and therefore delivering on the energy strategy is critical.
01:26In terms of the £100 million that has been cited in the report,
01:30£20 million of that is staffing costs over the past five years.
01:34£85 million is going towards schemes that support decarbonisation and energy efficiency.
01:42£73 million of that has been invested to save programmes through the public sector.
01:46So that money is actually saving the public sector money.
01:51£8 or £9 million a year of savings is being generated because of that investment.
01:56And it shows actual public sector leadership in terms of decarbonisation.
02:01So I actually think that the money that has been spent to date has been well spent and is generating good outcomes.
02:08Well, the energy strategy is, as I say, crucial to my priorities as economy minister.
02:14And decarbonisation is one of my four priority areas.
02:19So delivering on the energy strategy is really important.
02:22It is an executive strategy and we have to work together to deliver on our key targets that are set out in the Climate Change Act.
02:34And therefore our statutory targets that have to be met.
