00:00Welcome to Santa's Workshop TV, where Christmas cheer is made right here.
00:07Long, long ago, people who lived in snowy lands needed a way to travel across the deep snow.
00:14So they used sleighs. Horses and reindeer pulled them, gliding smoothly over the frozen ground.
00:22But do you know when my reindeer first appeared in a story about me?
00:25It was in 1823, in a poem called A Visit from St. Nicholas, also known as Twas the Night Before Christmas.
00:35It was written by a man named Clement Clark Moore, and that poem introduced my very first team of reindeer.
00:43Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen.
00:49Strong, swift, and full of holiday cheer.
00:52Many years later, in 1939, a new friend joined the team, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
01:01He was created for a little Christmas booklet by Robert L., May, written for a store called Montgomery Ward.
01:09And soon, children everywhere knew Rudolph's story.
01:13With his bright red nose, he helped guide my sleigh through the foggiest of nights.
01:19So the sleigh, the reindeer, and even Rudolph all became part of the Christmas magic you know today.
01:27Until next time, keep your hearts merry and your imaginations bright.
01:32Ho, ho, ho.
