00:00It's what makes London and the City of London such an exciting place to visit and to work in.
00:06It has this great mix of new and old which sits side by side very happily.
00:11It just makes for good placemaking and we know how much people enjoy being outdoors in the time that they get to get away from their desk.
00:20And this is one of those magical spaces that they'll be able to enjoy once it's completed.
00:24The tower remains balanced above a 60,000 square foot excavation site at 50 Fenchurch Street in what developers have called a never-seen-before feat of engineering.
00:38A so-called bottoming out ceremony came after the removal of more than 125,000 tonnes of earth underneath the tower to make way for a 650,000 square foot office building.
00:55Well, so as I've mentioned, as well as the ground floor public realm, we have publicly accessible gardens at level 10.
01:02So from there you get some amazing views down to the river, to Tower Bridge, Tower of London, and within that we have a restaurant, an indoor garden as well.
01:12And then when you move into the office itself for the occupiers, we have balconies at every level.
01:17We have a terrace at level 32, which you can see all the way to Canary Wharf, back out to Wembley.
01:23And then you have, within offices these days, people like to have wellness, gym, places to eat, drink, cinema rooms, all sorts of interesting extras.
01:36Well, we're aiming to finish late in 2028, and therefore in 2029 people will be able to come and look around.
01:41Construction of the 50th Benchurch Street development basement levels will eventually reunite the church tower with ground level to form parts of a new green public space.
01:56The development is due to be completed in 2028.
02:01Howard Dorber, who is the deputy mayor of London for Business and Growth, who attended the bottoming out ceremony,
02:11said 50 Fenchurch Street is a remarkable project, and added he was delighted to attend the unique ceremony that marks a significant construction milestone.
