00:00More than 50 offenders have been locked up in just over two weeks in a September surge to reduce crime in Huddersfield Town Centre.
00:08A total of 53 arrests were made by officers up to the 17th of September, averaging three arrests in the town centre every day for offences including possession of offensive weapons, shop theft, public order offences and breach of criminal behaviour orders.
00:24The continuing series of arrest activity follows on from Safer Streets operations last month in which officers located and locked up 48 suspects including persons wanted on warrant for offending.
00:36The Safer Streets initiative itself also continues and is aimed making town centres safer by tackling issues like burglary, shop theft, street crime and antisocial behaviour.
