CSIRO researchers are exploring whether a tiny weevil could become a powerful biological control for flaxleaf fleabane, a major weed costing grain growers more than $40 million a year.

00:00Syro Vegetation Ecologist Ben Gooden is part of a promising research project looking at
00:08biocontrol of one of Australia's most damaging crop weeds, fleabane. The research centres on
00:15the use of a particular weevil and its ability to control the plant. The weevil will eat the
00:21stems and leaves while its larvae burrow into the stem, killing the plant.
