I Tested the World's Weirdest Hotels

TravelTranscript
00:00We are going to stay in the world's weirdest hotels, like hotels with slide entrances,
00:04futuristic resorts with robot workers, crazy swimming pools, secret rooms,
00:08and some of the most unique places you can stay in.
00:10Starting with a hotel room that has an airplane next to your bed.
00:13Like this used to really be a fully functioning flying airplane.
00:15Even the inside is intact with a real cockpit and seats for passengers.
00:20The bedroom itself is super normal, actually really nice.
00:23But things really get crazy when you go inside the plane and see all the seats,
00:26and a cabin just like on any normal airplane.
00:28This is cool.
00:30It's crazy to imagine at one point in time, passengers were sitting in these very seats,
00:33flying somewhere around the world.
00:34And this room definitely gives you plenty of storage for your bags.
00:37You can pull up the windows.
00:38You can practice to be a flight attendant.
00:41Anyone need snacks?
00:42Yeah, can I have some caviar?
00:44We don't have that.
00:47Then of course you can climb into the cockpit.
00:49Oh, this is so sick.
00:51You know, I've always wanted to fly a plane.
00:52I just didn't think it would be in a hotel room.
00:54Like this is every kid's dream.
00:55Attention passengers, please prepare for takeoff.
00:57It's not going anywhere.
01:00But there's still so much more to see if you just walk out the other side of the plane.
01:04Because you have this massive living room area with another TV.
01:07Second couch.
01:08And around the corner, yet another room.
01:10I tried to use the coffee machine, but I might have broken it.
01:14Never mind.
01:15I guess it worked.
01:17When you check into the room, they give you this airplane-themed lunchbox.
01:20And I guess inside are accessories for a projector.
01:23Because you can just pull this down and there's a projector screen inside the airplane.
01:28So you can watch movies or TikTok.
01:30I always wanted to watch TikTok inside an airplane inside a hotel room.
01:33Why is it so loud?
01:37It was actually super fun.
01:40I love this room.
01:41There's so many random hidden rooms.
01:44Like here's the first bathroom.
01:45This one's really small.
01:47Another bathroom?
01:48I will say their bathrooms aren't the best.
01:51At least there is one normal bathroom with a shower.
01:53This really might be the weirdest hotel room I've ever stayed in.
01:55What's funny is the rest of this hotel is just totally normal.
01:57All the other guests in the hotel have no idea what's above them.
02:00This one suite is just super special.
02:02But I think the most surprising thing about this hotel room is that it's only about $300 a night.
02:06For what might be the largest hotel room I've ever stayed in.
02:09What do you think?
02:09I think bro missed the runway, honestly.
02:12But later I learned you can pre-order room service breakfast.
02:15Basically you just fill out this form, choose what you want to order,
02:17and then hang it on your front door the night before.
02:21Good morning, Amsterdam.
02:22Sam's still sleeping.
02:24Someone from the hotel brought this feast to the room,
02:25but there was only one place that made sense to eat it.
02:27Good morning.
02:28Would you like any breakfast on your flight?
02:31Um, I'm okay.
02:32I have some chocolate croissants here, cinnamon rolls,
02:36or maybe this loaf of bread.
02:38It's actually way softer than it sounds.
02:41Oh.
02:41Outside of the really weird bathroom situation,
02:43I've never been in a hotel where you get this much space all to yourself for just $300 a night.
02:47So it's totally worth it.
02:48But there are a lot of weird hotels we have to get to in this video.
02:51And next, I'm flying all the way to North Carolina
02:53to check out a strange Airbnb in the mountains.
02:55Actually, it turns out there's an entire neighborhood of weird Airbnbs up here.
02:59I feel like I've gone to weird hotel heaven.
03:01There's a lot for us to see here, but first,
03:03this is my hotel for the night.
03:04Uh, it might look like a normal tent to you,
03:06which is fair.
03:07It does look like a very normal tent.
03:08But for one night here, I paid $709.
03:12But trust me, I think it's going to be worth it.
03:14Because when you open up this tent, you'll find a slide.
03:16And if you ride it, it'll take you down to your really large Airbnb.
03:19It's way bigger than it looks on the outside.
03:21Time for the tour.
03:22So right when you get off of the slide, there's your bed.
03:24Yeah, it's very comfortable.
03:26Looks very comfortable.
03:27But there's also a couch.
03:28There's a fuzzy chair.
03:29There is a TV.
03:30And you even get a fridge and a microwave.
03:32Many owls.
03:34And Harry Potter glasses.
03:36How do I look?
03:38And the host has given us a bowl of free snacks.
03:40But there's still way more,
03:41because outside you get a cliffside campsite.
03:43You have like a whole patio,
03:45a fire pit with outdoor seating,
03:46and this entire other tent.
03:48I don't even know what's in that tent.
03:49It could be literally anything.
03:50There's only one way to find out.
03:54It's like a little game room.
03:55Here there's like a really tiny bench,
03:56fuzzy chairs,
03:57a baby globe,
03:58Kinect 4,
03:59and just in case you didn't have enough nature already,
04:01a fake tree.
04:02Driving down here,
04:03I passed so many crazy looking tree houses and Airbnbs,
04:06that honestly I didn't know existed.
04:08So I kind of want to go for a walk,
04:09and explore the neighborhood.
04:12One, I literally didn't know any of these Airbnbs existed when I booked this place.
04:15So right now, I know as much about them as you guys do.
04:17So future Drew in the voiceover is going to give you all the information about them.
04:21Anyways, let's explore a neighborhood of weird Airbnbs.
04:28You guys fell over,
04:29and that literally just cracked my phone.
04:31Whoops.
04:32Anyways, here's the first Airbnb I found.
04:34It looks like a giant orange treehouse.
04:37Here's what future Drew can tell you about it.
04:39Apparently it's called the Steampunk Treehouse.
04:40It kind of just has gears and stuff covering the walls.
04:43And it costs $576 for one night.
04:46Blah, blah, blah, blah.
04:47Oh.
04:48Wow, that's cool.
04:48Okay, next I found this pink Airbnb.
04:51Inside is basically a pink paradise.
04:53Like, everything is pink.
04:54And it costs $600 per night.
04:57Next there's this thing.
04:58Uh, it looks like a spaceship.
05:00Honestly, maybe the coolest looking Airbnb I've ever seen.
05:03I kind of regret not booking this,
05:05because it's basically a supervillain secret lair.
05:07Like, look at this bedroom.
05:08And it only costs $598 a night.
05:10Wow, that's amazing.
05:11This is a castle house.
05:13One day when I get a house,
05:14I want it to look like this.
05:15But I also want a water slide, too.
05:17And a swimming pool.
05:18And a trampoline.
05:18Important things.
05:19But I had to get back to my tent before dark,
05:21because apparently bears are really common in this area.
05:24Like, they just stroll through town.
05:25So I'm not taking any chances.
05:30That never gets old.
05:31So it's getting kind of late.
05:32And I'll be honest with you guys, I'm tired out.
05:34So my plan is simple.
05:35It's time to get snacks in, and then relax in.
05:38Let's do it.
05:41That would definitely stop a bear.
05:42The door's locked.
05:45So far, no bears.
05:47Good morning, blah.
06:01It's like 6.50 in the morning,
06:03and it's almost time we leave this place.
06:05But there's a few things we need to do first.
06:06I made coffee and found the tent's guest book.
06:09I've honestly never stayed in an Airbnb with such a cool entrance,
06:12not to mention the incredible view from the mountains.
06:14So I don't know what weird hotel could beat this one.
06:17I'm giving it a 9.5.
06:19And I'm going to miss my tent.
06:20But it's time we go meet Back Up With Sam in Florida.
06:23This is the Electronic Ice Castle.
06:25It looks like a normal house on the outside,
06:27but apparently it's actually the world's weirdest mansion.
06:30And that's because one night can cost over $1,000.
06:32It's expensive, and you're about to see why.
06:34And it turns out this house would blow away all our expectations.
06:38The first thing you see when you walk in is a massive indoor arcade.
06:41It has a giant Transformers robot, air hockey, racing games, and basketball.
06:47I guess Sam didn't have the best luck.
06:52So I had to take a turn.
06:54But it's no competition, really.
06:57What can I say?
06:58Across the hall from the arcade is the first bedroom,
07:00and if you can't tell, it's ghost-themed.
07:01Basically, every room in this house was designed around a different movie.
07:04This first room is mostly normal,
07:06except there's giant Ghostbuster ghosts on the wall
07:08and slime dripping down from the ceiling.
07:10We're two rooms in, and this house is already insane.
07:12And up next is the E.T. room.
07:14It makes you feel like you're in nature,
07:15and there's a life-size E.T. on the wall.
07:17The design of the room and all the plants makes it feel like you're outside.
07:20If I slept in this room, I think I'd be afraid E.T.
07:22would just start talking to me in the middle of the night.
07:25And that was all just the entryway,
07:27because next you can walk through to the living room.
07:29This is easily the largest Airbnb I've ever booked for a video.
07:32The listing says this house can sleep 20 people,
07:34and I definitely can see that.
07:35There's still a lot more bedrooms for us to explore,
07:37and it feels like just the kitchen and the dining room alone,
07:40there's enough space for, like, an entire school.
07:42Up next is the Back to the Future room,
07:43which is complete with a time machine.
07:45To be honest, I haven't actually seen Back to the Future,
07:47but this room makes me think I should.
07:49But everything really starts getting exciting when you go up the stairs,
07:52because right when you get upstairs,
07:53you can walk down this hall to the second arcade.
07:55This is more like a retro arcade, and it looks mostly normal,
07:59but one of these arcade machines has a pretty big secret.
08:01Sadly, I'm bad at all of them.
08:04These games are hard.
08:05But the best part of the arcade is behind this machine here,
08:08because if you pull it out, you'll reveal a secret room
08:11filled with capsule hotels and a flat-screen TV.
08:14As a kid, this would have been, like, my dream room.
08:16I love capsule hotels because they're kind of like bunk beds,
08:18but you still get privacy.
08:19Plus, the capsule hotels here even give you your own TV,
08:22and these are pretty advanced.
08:23You can grab a remote and turn on your favorite streaming service or YouTube.
08:27There's, like, a clock.
08:28There's a mirror.
08:29What, did you sleep in one of these?
08:30Yeah, this looks, like, really good.
08:32And there are four of these,
08:33so this house really can sleep a lot of people.
08:35Plus, this room has a real-life Tron bike you can ride.
08:38Kind of.
08:39But there's actually still more to the arcade,
08:41because if you walk through that door,
08:43you'll see the house has its own private movie theater
08:45with a PlayStation and an Xbox
08:47and tons of super luxurious seats.
08:50This is probably my favorite room in the house.
08:52It looks super futuristic in here.
08:54You can just recline your chair,
08:55play video games.
08:57This is so nice.
08:58Oh, I love this house.
09:01Of course, I had to try gaming on a movie screen for the first time.
09:04I just didn't play very well.
09:07But there are still more bedrooms we need to explore.
09:10I don't even remember which number we're on.
09:12There's so many bedrooms in this house.
09:13But this room is entirely baseball-themed.
09:16Instead of a carpet, there's fake grass.
09:18It's kind of fun to walk on.
09:19The walls were designed to make you feel like you're outside.
09:21There's a bench and baseballs all around the bed.
09:24And a larger-than-life-size Hercules the dog.
09:26If you're bored, you can even open the fence and hang out with him.
09:29This dog is literally bigger than me.
09:30Our next somewhat normal room is home alone-themed.
09:33Did I say home alone?
09:35But in this room, it's Christmas every day,
09:37as they've perfectly recreated the bedroom from the movie.
09:39This is like the comfiest bed I've ever been on.
09:41But this next one might be the craziest bedroom I've ever seen in a house.
09:45You enter an ice-themed frozen room with bunk beds and life-size frozen character statues.
09:50This is my favorite room of this whole house.
09:54Look at this.
09:54Look at this snowflake.
09:56And it's designed to look just like real snow and ice on the walls.
09:59It's cool in here.
10:01I feel like this room would give you the best night's sleep.
10:04These beds kind of feel like capsule hotel beds if they were just in an ice cave.
10:07Not bad.
10:08You want to know what else is really cool?
10:10There's a ball pit between the beds.
10:12Definitely never been in any Airbnb with a ball pit before.
10:19I think I'm stuck.
10:21I'm leaving you.
10:22No, help.
10:23You know what's crazy?
10:25What?
10:25We finish each other's...
10:27Sentences?
10:29And this is the last bedroom.
10:30It's like, just girl-themed.
10:32Better view!
10:34Whoa!
10:34Okay, way bouncier than I expected.
10:36So one night in this house costs just over $1,000, which actually is not bad when you think of how many people could sleep here.
10:44But will the Electronic Ice Castle win George?
10:47Give it like a 8 out of 10.
10:48But now let's move on because there are a lot more crazy hotels for us to get to, and our next one's in New York City.
10:54This is the Jane Hotel, which opened over a hundred years ago.
10:57Originally, it was built as a hotel for sailors, and back then, one night would cost just about 25 cents.
11:02So prices have really changed over time.
11:03I paid about $200 for one night here, so let's go find our room.
11:06I wasn't really sure what to expect from a hotel so old, and I started getting a little nervous.
11:11Very dark in here.
11:12The moment the elevator door opens, it feels like you're walking right into a scary movie.
11:17I'm gonna be honest, this is the scariest hotel hallway I've ever seen.
11:21I don't think it's changed at all since it opened over a hundred years ago.
11:24And I honestly couldn't believe what I saw when I opened the door.
11:30Come check this out.
11:31The entire room is the size of a closet.
11:33This is all you get.
11:34It's so small that I could touch both walls at the same time.
11:37I'm short. I've never been able to say that before.
11:40So there's your bed.
11:41It's a twin bed.
11:42Maybe the bed itself is a hundred years old.
11:44I mean, it is kind of cozy.
11:45You get an old alarm clock radio.
11:48And a window so you have some connection to the outside world.
11:50You get an old phone to call the front desk in case you have any questions.
11:53I don't think it's for room service.
11:54I don't think they have room service here.
11:55You do get some storage.
11:57Bottom drawer with a safe.
11:58And a top drawer for your stuff.
11:59You get a really long mirror.
12:02What's up?
12:02Not much.
12:05Maybe you would call this the living room.
12:07It's the floor.
12:08This is all the walking area you have.
12:11Again, this hotel was originally built for sailors back in the 1900s.
12:14So I think they kind of designed the rooms to feel like you're in a ship cabin.
12:18It isn't the most modern TV, but it works.
12:20Behind the bed, you have a lamp.
12:21You can turn it on and off with this knob.
12:24Oh, whoops.
12:24The lamp might be old too.
12:25So you might notice that they give you towels.
12:27But obviously there's no bathroom in this room.
12:29There's barely anything in this room.
12:30And that's because, of course, you have to share your bathroom.
12:32So I went out back into the scary halls and found the bathroom.
12:36There's two toilets, two showers, and two sinks.
12:40I don't really mind this room or the fact that you have to share a bathroom.
12:42I honestly think this room is pretty cozy.
12:44I could sleep well in here.
12:45What I have a problem with is that this room costs me $200 per night.
12:49It's overpriced, man.
12:49So maybe the Jane Hotel makes you share a shower.
12:56But back in Amsterdam, there's one hotel that is even worse.
12:59This is our next hotel.
13:00It's called the Fletcher Hotel.
13:02And for about 150 euros a night, you can stay in a hotel room with a really weird bathroom situation.
13:06It's gone viral for having a shower in the middle of the hotel room with zero privacy.
13:10I couldn't believe it.
13:11And I just wanted to know how bad it could actually be.
13:13And it turns out it's pretty bad.
13:15This is definitely not a hotel room you can share with friends.
13:17Yeah, I know.
13:18There's literally no privacy at all.
13:20Turn it on.
13:22Right now?
13:23If you don't close the blinds, anyone from outside could literally see you showering.
13:27This feels wrong.
13:28It kind of feels like you're inside a soda can, but otherwise it's just a normal shower.
13:31How would you rate this bed?
13:33It's like a good 6 out of 10.
13:34Oh, that's a 10 out of 10 pillow.
13:36I guess they do brag about their pillows.
13:38You can buy one for 25 euros.
13:40Of course, the room comes with a TV.
13:41There's a little table by the window.
13:43Coffee maker.
13:44And this extremely tall plant.
13:46What type of plant even is this?
13:48Between the giant alien plant, shower in the middle of the room, and whatever this masterpiece
13:52work of art is above the bed, whoever designed this room really had some interesting ideas.
13:56On TikTok, a lot of people wanted to know, where's the toilet?
13:59Imagine if the toilet was the same way.
14:01No, the toilet's actually in here.
14:02There is a real door.
14:03But before going to bed and moving on to our next hotel, we stumbled on the coolest museum
14:07of all time.
14:08It's a complete recreation of SpongeBob's town, Bikini Bottom.
14:11I've always wanted to come here.
14:13I hope Gary's inside.
14:14We're about to find out because someone literally built a perfect recreation of SpongeBob's
14:19house, including the details of his living room.
14:21SpongeBob's there, just staring at you.
14:24You can sit next to Gary in SpongeBob's chair.
14:26It's just not very comfortable.
14:28And then across the hall is the Krusty Krab, with Squidward not looking too happy.
14:32The older you get, the more relatable Squidward you come.
14:35No, SpongeBob.
14:36Squidward really hates his job.
14:38You and him don't have that in common.
14:40His head is massive.
14:41You and him have that in common.
14:44Inside, you can sit at the tables and pretend to eat Krabby Patties.
14:47It doesn't taste good.
14:48It's not good.
14:51Of course, you can pretend to do SpongeBob's job behind Squidward.
14:54There's even a Krabby Patty vault, just like the show.
14:57It's actually comfy.
14:58But that's all still just the beginning of what they've built.
15:01You can go jellyfish catching with Patrick, but it's way harder than it looks on TV.
15:07You almost got it.
15:08Squidward's house.
15:09They've built a perfect replica of it, and if you walk inside, you'll see an entire museum of his artwork.
15:14They've collected hundreds of his masterpieces for you to look at and admire.
15:18Very impressive work.
15:20You can tell the artist really took his time with this one.
15:22It's quite a masterpiece.
15:23Some of Squidward's more abstract work.
15:24But, you know, life always isn't as exciting as it seems.
15:28Oh, father, this is what I saw.
15:34If you're curious, this is how I pack when I go to film videos.
15:37One massive backpack.
15:38Look at you.
15:40It's like twice my weight.
15:41But, uh, I think I'd give the Fletcher Hotel like a seven.
15:44So, I'm ready for an upgrade back in Orlando at the Aventura Hotel.
15:47This hotel is all about being futuristic.
15:49And it's also insanely windy.
15:52It is really windy today.
15:54But, anyways, I came here because you can find one thing that isn't at any other hotel in Florida.
16:00But, first, we have to go find our room.
16:02I paid just over 160 bucks for one night here.
16:05So, here's our room.
16:06The main feature of the room is that you control everything with this iPad.
16:09You can change the lighting.
16:10You can control the temperature.
16:11Here's your TV playing a loop of Universal Studios commercials.
16:14You can even watch the roller coasters go by from your window.
16:17Super nice bathroom.
16:18And the bed?
16:20Ooh.
16:20I like this bed.
16:21There's just one real reason I came here.
16:23If you pick up the phone in the room, you can just call the front desk and ask for something crazy.
16:28I have, uh, relay sent up some towels.
16:30Because there's a robot that works for this hotel that can deliver you anything.
16:33Of course, this should be up in about 20 minutes or less.
16:37Awesome.
16:38Thanks so much.
16:39And after just a few moments, there he was.
16:41He just stops at your door, makes a sound, and opens his lid so you can take whatever you ordered.
16:45Then he's done his job and can turn around and go back to the elevator.
16:47Come on, buddy.
16:48I figured I'd just take the elevator with him after you.
16:51I guess there's a system for him to call the elevator just by himself.
16:53And then when the doors open, he knows to just roll inside.
16:57Oh, that sounded like it hurt.
16:59You know, relay doesn't talk too much for a robot, but he gets the job done.
17:03It's actually kind of impressive how fast he can move.
17:06Back to work.
17:06And just like that, he'll go back to the front desk to move on to his next delivery.
17:10But before tomorrow's hotel, let's go meet a robot worker that's a little more talkative.
17:14So this place is famous because apparently it has a robot waiter with the most personality in the world.
17:19I have to work.
17:21I'm a wife.
17:22I'm inspired.
17:23And right when you walk in, you'll see it.
17:25Apparently, it costs $16,000 for a restaurant to buy one.
17:28That's our waiter, Peanut.
17:29She's kidding.
17:29Welcome, girl.
17:31Oh, Peanut.
17:32She's looking for one.
17:33Oh, my God.
17:34Wonderful, Terry.
17:35Take us to our seats.
17:38I was expecting her to just start moving like that.
17:42See, Peanut's job is to drop us off at our table and then go back to work.
17:45Here we are.
17:46Thank you, Peanut.
17:47Unless you block its way.
17:49Get out of the way, please.
17:51Otherwise, I won't become angry.
17:56Sorry.
17:57Did it just yell at you?
17:59Our robot's never yelled at me before.
18:01But here you just get your soup,
18:02pick out your favorite ingredients,
18:05toss them in the pot to start cooking,
18:07and then enjoy your food.
18:09That is good and spicy.
18:11We had such a good time eating here,
18:12and you'll even see Peanut drive by your table every now and then doing its job.
18:16Hey, Peanut.
18:19She remembers you from being in her way earlier.
18:21But after your main course,
18:23this totally different robot will bring you ice cream.
18:25Bye.
18:26Bye.
18:27What is next for you?
18:28Can we come here every day?
18:30How would you rate you and me the robot restaurant?
18:33Experience-wise, 10 out of 10.
18:35The food was like 8 out of 10.
18:37But it's time we go to our next hotel.
18:38Where?
18:39Well, it's actually not too far,
18:40but it looks a little strange because...
18:42Did you know you can buy an entire house on Amazon?
18:44Like, there's this one on Amazon that's $39,000.
18:47Well, that's exactly what this is.
18:48Kind of.
18:49This one's not on Amazon,
18:50but they do build it in a warehouse.
18:52Put it on a truck,
18:53and then drop it off at your property.
18:54Making this Florida's first 3D-printed tiny home.
18:57And you can literally buy one for $35,000.
19:00But of course, I just booked one night for about $150.
19:02It has, like, a toilet and everything, though, right?
19:05We're about to find out.
19:07Let's go inside.
19:07I've actually never stayed in a tiny home before,
19:09and this one is extra tiny.
19:11First thing when you walk in,
19:12there's, like, a baby desk and a microwave.
19:15Also, there's this little button.
19:16It just looks like a sticker,
19:17but if you press it,
19:18it turns the lights on and off.
19:20A little coffee maker,
19:21coffee supplies,
19:22fruit snacks.
19:23Plenty of seasoning if you want to cook.
19:26There's no place to cook.
19:27There's just a microwave.
19:28And popcorn.
19:29Imagine how stressful it would be
19:30if you burnt it in this small little house.
19:33And then right past the desk is your bed.
19:35It's, like, really cozy.
19:37There's a toilet in the same room as the shower,
19:40so you could...
19:41No way.
19:41Yeah!
19:42Turns out she's right.
19:43The shower is right next to the toilet.
19:45The bathroom's basically the size of a closet.
19:47Probably the smallest Airbnb bathroom I've ever seen.
19:49But considering it's a 3D-printed home,
19:51what do you expect?
19:52We just relaxed for a while
19:53and played around with the TV.
19:55This is the control panel at the front of the house.
19:56With this, you can turn off the lights.
19:58Or if you need privacy,
19:59close the blinds.
20:00The more time I spend in here,
20:01the more I feel like it's actually pretty nice.
20:03Even though you have a roof and air conditioning,
20:05it still kind of feels like you're camping
20:06because you can just see nature all around you.
20:083D-printed tiny house,
20:09a really cool concept.
20:11And we actually had a really good time here.
20:12Maybe it's the future of homes.
20:13Maybe the next step is a 3D-printed mansion.
20:15And there are probably so many cool locations around the world
20:17you could put homes like these.
20:18But I don't think tiny house is going to win George.
20:20I'd give it like a 6 out of 10.
20:22But since we're in Florida,
20:23there's one place I had to take Sam.
20:24One of the weirdest restaurants on the planet
20:26in Disney World.
20:29You kind of look like I'm...
20:30We came here to try a restaurant called Space 220,
20:33which apparently lets you eat in outer space.
20:35Come here for lunch.
20:37Do you say it's lunch time?
20:39Because you...
20:40That joke really took off.
20:44So the first place you go in the restaurant
20:45is to this like space station waiting area.
20:48Here they give you a boarding pass
20:49and then you walk into a space elevator.
20:52It's basically a mini ride
20:53that takes you right up to the restaurant.
20:55And then just after a few minutes,
20:56we've arrived.
20:57Up here they have a space farm.
20:59Yeah, this is definitely not your normal dining experience.
21:01Already this is like the coolest restaurant
21:02I've ever been to.
21:03Have y'all been in space before?
21:04No, it's our first time in space.
21:06We are 220 miles above F-Bop.
21:08We travel pretty far again.
21:09The host brings you to the dining area
21:11with the craziest view you'll ever see.
21:13Because there are massive floor-to-ceiling screens
21:15or windows showing Earth.
21:17This is super cool.
21:18It looks like some space water.
21:20Space water would be great.
21:21Immediately it was clear this restaurant was special.
21:24Like you can watch spaceships fly by
21:25while you're waiting for your food.
21:27We both got the space steak with space potatoes.
21:29I'm excited.
21:31It was good, but I've had better down on Earth.
21:33But then they served me a literal planet for dessert.
21:37And this, this was tasty.
21:39It was good.
21:40But now let's take the elevator back down to Earth
21:42and to our next hotel,
21:43which is also futuristic
21:44and it's back in New York City.
21:46We are staying at the Yotel,
21:47which tries to do things very differently
21:49from the standard hotel.
21:50Because first there's a bag storage robot
21:51working in the lobby.
21:52You just activate it on this iPad,
21:54drop off your bag,
21:55and watch it get to work.
21:57It's pretty fun to watch.
21:58But I paid over $700 to spend one night here,
22:00so I'm really hoping the room is just as advanced.
22:06Immediately this feels like
22:07one of the larger hotel rooms I've ever been in.
22:09It kind of looks more like an apartment than a hotel room.
22:11So first there's the living room,
22:13the large couch,
22:14and Florida ceiling windows all around.
22:16There's a purple rug, purple pillows,
22:18this random purple thing under the TV,
22:20purple bench,
22:21random artwork,
22:22and the living room even has a workout bike
22:24with a view of New York City.
22:25That is something I've never seen in a hotel room before.
22:28Past the bike is the bedroom,
22:29and here you get a circular bed
22:31with futuristic purple lighting.
22:33And you have a bedroom TV.
22:34Down the hall from the bedroom is your bathroom.
22:36Honestly, I was not expecting how large this hotel room is.
22:38Because we're staying in a futuristic hotel concept
22:40for dinner,
22:41I figured we'd try a futuristic restaurant.
22:43But first, let's explore the hotel.
22:45First there's like the Yotel shop and bar.
22:47There's a large empty area with these things.
22:50I don't know what they're supposed to be.
22:51It's actually really terrifying.
22:53Like, what is that?
22:54But before dinner,
22:56I had to visit one of my favorite hotel chains in the world.
22:58It's called the Henna Hotel,
23:00which literally means weird hotel in Japanese.
23:02I've been to a few of them in Japan,
23:03and for some reason,
23:04they love to use robot workers too.
23:06And this one here has one of the most realistic
23:07robot T-Rexes I've ever seen.
23:09Because the second you walk into the lobby,
23:10just turn to your right,
23:11and you might be terrified.
23:13This thing is huge,
23:14moves nonstop,
23:15and sounds just like a real dinosaur.
23:17It's easy to forget it's a robot.
23:19It's not as cool as the Japanese robots
23:20that'll help you check into your room.
23:22It won't help you check into your room
23:23or take your bags,
23:24but it's still something you won't find
23:25in any other hotel.
23:26But we're not staying here
23:27because sadly the rooms are just totally normal.
23:29Whereas our next hotel is very not normal.
23:31But first, it's dinner time.
23:33At this restaurant,
23:33you can enjoy a nice dinner
23:34without talking to a single person.
23:36First, you just order your food on the iPad,
23:38and then bring your receipt
23:39to one of these private eating areas.
23:41So the idea is pretty simple.
23:42They take the receipt,
23:43prepare your ramen,
23:44then they open this curtain
23:45and give you your food.
23:46It's pretty cool
23:47and kind of sad too.
23:48And just like that,
23:49you're alone again
23:50with your thoughts
23:51and your food.
23:51This actually looks so good.
23:53It's a little weird being all alone
23:55in like a little cubby.
23:56It's also kind of nice.
23:57No one's looking at you.
23:58You can just enjoy good ramen.
24:00But now I'm full and tired.
24:02Nice food, boys.
24:03I have a lot of plans for the morning.
24:04First, we sleep.
24:06Good night.
24:12Good morning.
24:13Turns out when you look out the window
24:14in New York City,
24:15you see a lot.
24:16Well, I guess they never called
24:17New York City boring.
24:18But before we go to our next hotel,
24:19there's just one more thing
24:20I had to try.
24:23Turns out there was no way
24:24for me to actually
24:24plug the Peloton in,
24:26but I still had a solid workout.
24:28Well, that's enough of that.
24:29Time to Ned to our Hex Hotel.
24:31We're going back in time
24:32to an ancient hotel
24:33in one of America's oldest cities.
24:35This is the Liberty Hotel.
24:36It was actually built in 1855
24:38originally as a prison
24:39until recently
24:40when it's been converted
24:40into a luxury hotel.
24:42For one night,
24:42I paid just under $400.
24:44So I don't really know
24:45what to expect,
24:45but let's go check in.
24:47When you first walk in,
24:47you can definitely see
24:48it used to be a prison.
24:49You even have to walk by
24:50jail cell bars
24:51on the way to your room,
24:53which turned out
24:54to be surprisingly nice.
24:56First, of course,
24:57there's your bed.
24:57Pretty big.
24:58You get an old bench
25:00from the original jail,
25:01complete with keys
25:02from the original jail.
25:03I don't know how I feel about that.
25:04I guess these are like
25:05jail-themed pillows.
25:06You even get an old wooden desk.
25:08The only thing that kind of irks me
25:09is that they're selling
25:10water bottles in the room
25:11for $12 each.
25:13You could go to the grocery store
25:14and buy like 32 packs of water
25:16for less than that.
25:18So instead,
25:19there's something else nearby
25:20I had to see for myself.
25:21This is America's oldest restaurant.
25:23Technically,
25:23America's oldest
25:24continuously operating restaurant,
25:26but I'm just going with it.
25:27The building was built in 1714,
25:29so it's literally older than America.
25:30And so while we're staying
25:31inside a prison,
25:32might as well see
25:33what the food is like
25:33in one of the oldest restaurants
25:34on the planet.
25:35It's crazy the street
25:36is filled with restaurants
25:36and bars that are
25:37all hundreds of years old.
25:39Like, check this one out.
25:40They're basically claiming
25:41that America itself
25:42was invented inside that tavern.
25:43I don't know why
25:44there's fish at the entrance.
25:45But he is successfully
25:46collecting tips.
25:48Table for one.
25:49Before my table was ready,
25:50I got to walk around
25:51and explore inside.
25:52There's so much history in this place.
25:54Walking around here,
25:55it kind of feels like a museum.
25:56They have things like
25:57a 3D rotating version
25:58of the restaurant.
25:59There are paintings of the walls
26:00of the history that's happened
26:02in this restaurant.
26:03I'm not sure if I'm supposed
26:03to be back here.
26:04I'm the only one here.
26:05It was a little weird
26:06how few people there were upstairs.
26:08I won't lie.
26:09It's kind of creepy in here.
26:10The restaurant's so big,
26:11you can just keep exploring.
26:12And I found a totally
26:13empty dining room.
26:14I'm just, I'm all alone.
26:15Alone with George.
26:16Sorry, George.
26:17It's time for dinner.
26:18My table's ready
26:19and I knew exactly
26:20what to order.
26:20My appetizer was
26:21cornbread and clam chowder.
26:23Appetizers came and went.
26:24Cornbread and clam chowder,
26:25very good.
26:26The food wasn't old.
26:28Even though they claim
26:28to be America's oldest restaurant.
26:30And for my main course,
26:31my favorite food on the planet,
26:33the lobster roll.
26:34That was sick.
26:36Eating there felt more like
26:37I was eating in a museum
26:38than in a restaurant.
26:38But then after dinner,
26:39I walked around
26:40and found more American history.
26:42Nearby, there's this building
26:43that was built in the 1700s.
26:44It's one of the oldest buildings
26:45in America.
26:45And it used to house
26:46an old bookstore.
26:47But now it's a Chipotle.
26:49It's both depressing
26:50and kind of hilarious.
26:51But anyways,
26:52it was getting late
26:53and I had to head back
26:54to my jail cell room
26:55because in the morning,
26:57I got to eat at the Clink.
26:59It's a restaurant
26:59where you get to eat
27:00right next to the old,
27:01real prison cells.
27:03That was weird.
27:04But at least the coffee was good.
27:05But now we're going back
27:05to New York again
27:07to stay at an airport hotel.
27:09This hotel was literally designed
27:10to make you feel like
27:10you're time traveling
27:11back to 1962.
27:12Originally,
27:13this was actually built
27:13as an airport
27:14and it's been preserved
27:15extremely well over the years.
27:16Back then,
27:17a hotel room cost us
27:18$15 per night.
27:19So let's head inside
27:19and see what hotels
27:20in the 60s were like.
27:22Just checking in.
27:23And to get to your room,
27:24you just have to go down
27:25this super long red tunnel.
27:27It's just long and empty.
27:28Then just try not
27:29to miss the elevator.
27:31For my one night stay here,
27:32I paid just under $400.
27:34So let's see what we get.
27:35Welcome to the 1960s.
27:37There's just a few things
27:38we have to do.
27:41Now that's more like it.
27:42Let's do a room tour.
27:43First thing you see
27:44when you walk in
27:44is the desk.
27:45They even give you
27:46a real magazine
27:46from the 1960s.
27:48Instead of having
27:48a trash can in the bedroom,
27:49they just have this little
27:50area on the desk.
27:51It's a little weird.
27:52There's this large cup
27:53of pencils they give you.
27:54That's new.
27:55I haven't seen that
27:55in a hotel before.
27:56Then of course,
27:57there's your bed
27:57and TV.
27:58Oh yeah.
27:59Don't worry,
28:00no shoes on the bed.
28:01Also inaccurate
28:01but useful,
28:02there's a wireless charger
28:03next to the bed.
28:04Those definitely
28:05didn't exist in the 60s.
28:06There's this cool
28:06vintage chair
28:07and this really old phone.
28:09Hello?
28:10That sound is so satisfying.
28:12But by far,
28:13the best part of the hotel room
28:14is the view.
28:15For a little bit extra
28:16per night,
28:16you can have a view
28:17of the airport runway.
28:18And don't worry,
28:19they built this hotel
28:19with the sound in mind.
28:20They have extra thick
28:21windows and walls
28:22so you can't hear
28:23the planes taking off
28:24and landing all the time.
28:25There's a lot we have to do.
28:26But first,
28:26this hotel is huge.
28:27So let's go explore it.
28:29First off,
28:29I've never been in a hotel
28:30where every detail
28:31makes you feel like
28:32you're back in time.
28:33Right when you walk
28:34into the airport,
28:34you see this massive
28:35departure board
28:36telling you all the flights
28:37that are coming
28:37and going from New York.
28:38This uses real physical
28:39letters that move
28:40by themselves.
28:41That is so cool.
28:42Next to the departure board
28:43is the food hall
28:44where you can come
28:44any time of day
28:45and eat.
28:46Very important part
28:46of the hotel.
28:47Apparently,
28:47the hotel has a bunch
28:48of real cars
28:48from the 60s.
28:49They have an old Lincoln
28:50that could cost
28:50over $90,000 today,
28:52a microbus
28:53that would cost
28:53around $70,000,
28:54and this red fiat
28:55that has literally
28:55sold for over $100,000.
28:57Oh, yeah.
28:59But that's just
28:59the beginning of this hotel
29:00because there's also
29:01a twister room.
29:02Why does this room exist?
29:03Walking in this room
29:04made me feel like
29:05I was in a dream.
29:05There's even a replica
29:06of a 1960s hair salon.
29:08I tried to see
29:08if their machine
29:09still worked,
29:09but I don't have
29:10enough hair for this.
29:11And there's a perfect
29:13replica of the CEO's
29:14office from back
29:15in the day.
29:15Yes, bring me my lunch.
29:16Yes, fire 100 employees.
29:19Yes, acquire a small country.
29:21This is kind of fun.
29:23This also might be
29:23the only hotel on earth
29:24that still has phone booths.
29:25To be honest,
29:26I don't even know
29:27how to use these.
29:28But then I discovered
29:29an event was going on
29:30in the main lobby.
29:30There's even a wedding.
29:31I kind of feel like
29:31I shouldn't be here.
29:32So instead,
29:33I decided to explore
29:34the hotel's TWA shop,
29:35selling $75 construction hats,
29:38$80 sneakers,
29:39and one of the most
29:40overpriced things
29:41I've ever seen.
29:42Is this clock $700?
29:44Yep.
29:45That's crazy.
29:46Apparently,
29:46it's supposed to be
29:47I'm supposed to try
29:49the $17.
29:49Oh, okay.
29:50Has anyone bought one?
29:51Yeah.
29:52Really?
29:53Actually sold out one.
29:54No way.
29:54Yeah, I swear.
29:55People like that.
29:56People love it.
29:58That's a lot of money
29:59for a clock.
29:59I probably wish anybody
30:00to get it.
30:01No, I'm with you.
30:02That's crazy.
30:02There was no way
30:03I was buying that.
30:04So instead,
30:04I decided to check out
30:05the hotel's real plane
30:06preserved from the 1960s.
30:08Apparently,
30:08the airplane's name is Connie.
30:09Why it has a name,
30:11I couldn't tell you.
30:12It really puts into perspective
30:13how big planes are
30:14when you stand next to the blade.
30:15Just the blade
30:16is like twice my height.
30:19Apparently,
30:19Connie was built in 1939
30:20and actually was used
30:21as Air Force One
30:22for the president
30:23in the 1950s.
30:24But now it's just a museum
30:25and a lounge for the hotel.
30:26The cockpit's still in good shape,
30:28although it doesn't work.
30:29But other than
30:30not being able to fly,
30:31Connie is exactly
30:31how she was
30:32back in the 1960s.
30:33Honestly,
30:35the seats were more
30:36comfortable back then.
30:37I could sleep in this chair.
30:39I don't even need
30:39my hotel room.
30:40And we're back in the room.
30:41I gotta say,
30:42as someone who loves to travel,
30:43this room has like
30:44my dream view.
30:45I have a view of some
30:45of the largest airplanes
30:46in the world.
30:47Those two planes are literally
30:48among the largest airplanes
30:49on the planet.
30:50And for context,
30:51those are your normal airplanes
30:52that'll fly across America.
30:53But these planes
30:54take you around the world.
30:55So I'm really looking forward
30:56to just sitting on my bed
30:57and watching the planes
30:58fly tonight.
30:59I took a little nap,
31:05watched some basketball
31:06and airplanes.
31:08Life is good.
31:10It's getting late.
31:11I'm kind of tired.
31:12But I haven't eaten yet.
31:13And I think there's only
31:14one option in this hotel.
31:16It's called the Paris Café.
31:17And my only concern
31:18is the reviews online
31:19just are not great at all.
31:21It has like
31:21three and a half stars.
31:22And that's because
31:23one person said
31:24this is the worst restaurant
31:25they ever dined at.
31:26And another person said
31:27this is the worst dinner
31:27they ever had.
31:28And these are real reviews.
31:29But I have to eat.
31:30So wish me luck.
31:34Just a table for one
31:35if possible.
31:36They brought me to my table
31:37and I looked at the menu
31:39choosing very carefully.
31:41I settled on the beef tenderloin
31:42which I couldn't find
31:43any bad reviews for.
31:44It's fine to me.
31:46The beef tenderloin
31:47was actually really good.
31:48Everything else on the plate
31:49was not.
31:51Also at night,
31:52I guess this lounge area
31:53starts glowing red.
31:54This hotel is so cool.
31:55Back to the room.
31:57Good day.
31:58Good morning.
32:03Good morning, vlog.
32:05It's time to start
32:06our morning routine.
32:07Apparently back in the 1960s
32:08people would listen to the radio
32:09and go shopping
32:10in a catalog
32:11in the morning.
32:12So I guess books like these
32:25were Amazon
32:25way before Amazon ever existed.
32:27Let's see what we can buy.
32:28Okay, it looks like this page
32:29is selling Halloween costumes.
32:31And they're pretty cheap.
32:32Oh, I would totally be this robot.
32:34That looks sick.
32:35I mean, far out.
32:36There's a $6 rocking chair.
32:38There's like a huge tent
32:39for less than $100.
32:40All sorts of boats
32:41you can buy.
32:42Bikes are about $50.
32:44And that's when I found
32:44something kind of disturbing.
32:46They used to sell pets in here.
32:47Look at this.
32:48Why wait?
32:49Enjoy a pet now.
32:49Monkeys.
32:50Biter monkey, $50.
32:52Baby alligator.
32:53Harmless when small, $4.
32:54This is so wrong.
32:55I can't believe they used to do this.
32:57They also sell puppies.
32:58Like every single breed.
33:00They would send these in the mail?
33:01That catalog's from 1958.
33:03How would they feel okay
33:04about themselves
33:04sending a monkey in the mail?
33:06How would it survive?
33:07Let's get breakfast.
33:16I just explored around the hotel
33:18and found a pool on the rooftop.
33:21That's crazy.
33:23It's definitely not the best weather
33:25for swimming.
33:25It's cold and super windy.
33:27The view isn't tropical waves
33:29or palm trees.
33:31But it is very unique.
33:32Only here can you watch planes
33:34take off and land
33:34while you're swimming.
33:37But now it's our turn to take off
33:39to go stay on one of the world's
33:40weirdest hotels on a farm.
33:42One night here only costs about $150
33:44but it's definitely not
33:45your normal Airbnb.
33:46Welcome to the man cave.
33:47We're kind of in the middle of nowhere
33:48in Florida for this Airbnb.
33:50We're on this property called Danville
33:51and it's called Danville
33:52because it was created by this guy, Dan.
33:54I got to talk to him for a little bit
33:55before checking in
33:56and he told me this is his creation.
33:58Art is making creations
34:00and I do, that's what I do.
34:02All right, Drew.
34:03But this is my home for the night
34:04so let's check it out.
34:05First, when you walk in
34:05there's a bookshelf
34:06filled with manly things
34:07like boats, alligators, race cars
34:10and Jar Jar Binks.
34:13And as you walk into the living room
34:14it just gets better and better.
34:16There's a cool bar
34:17filled with random knickknacks
34:18lots of airplanes
34:19an old Lightning McQueen toy.
34:21I love this place.
34:23How am I feeling, you might ask?
34:24I feel like I'm in heaven.
34:25There's just cool manly stuff
34:26everywhere in here.
34:28Next, there's the couch.
34:29It is an old couch.
34:30The couches were just made better back then.
34:32I don't know what else to say.
34:33And behind the couch
34:33is this map of everyone
34:35who has come and stayed in this Airbnb.
34:37And it's clear people have come
34:38from all over the world
34:39to stay here.
34:40Here's the kitchen.
34:40Across from the couch
34:41is your TV.
34:42A massage chair.
34:43There's a button on this remote
34:44that says zero G.
34:45What's the worst that could happen?
34:49Oh yeah.
34:50This reminds me that
34:51if you look up
34:52there are literally motorcycles,
34:53airplanes,
34:54and bolts
34:55just hanging from the ceiling.
34:56There's all sorts of old CDs
34:58and VHS tapes.
34:59The bed is just up these stairs.
35:01It's pretty simple up here.
35:02You get your bed
35:02but there's also an old pilot's helmet
35:04and randomly a bowling pin.
35:06Plus an entire like canoe.
35:08Oh, I love it here.
35:10Just by itself
35:11this Airbnb is incredible
35:12but that's just the beginning
35:13of what Danville is.
35:14Apparently Dan created
35:15like a whole city here
35:16on this property.
35:17So before tonight
35:17I think it's time we go explore
35:19and see what else there is.
35:20Just a few steps
35:20outside the man cave
35:21and you're at a farm
35:23with all sorts of animals.
35:24There's an alpaca,
35:25tired roosters,
35:27did you just wake up?
35:34I don't think he likes me.
35:35And there are plenty of goats.
35:37What's up dude?
35:38I spent some time
35:38hanging out with them
35:39and Dan himself
35:40introduced me to the
35:41newest residents of Danville.
35:42Babies!
35:43Come on,
35:43come on babies!
35:45Oh wow,
35:46I'm so small.
35:47Come on,
35:47that's a baby goat.
35:48Oh sweet.
35:51Dan told me
35:52these babies are only
35:53one week old.
35:54What?
35:56Yeah?
35:57Already climbing.
35:58You have a very cool life Dan.
35:59I'm very fortunate.
36:00I'm very fortunate.
36:01He doesn't have any,
36:02maybe boots.
36:03Hey boots.
36:04So they don't get very big.
36:06Babies are just cute as hell.
36:07But as we were leaving,
36:08boots slipped and fell.
36:09Oh boots!
36:10That was very good.
36:10Oh boy,
36:11that was,
36:12you need to practice that.
36:14But then Dan showed me
36:15some of the cars he's working on.
36:16Seats were pink and white.
36:17There was only 20,000 of them built ever.
36:20Dan even gave me a golf cart
36:21to explore the property.
36:22I'm Dan,
36:23this is Drew.
36:24Drew.
36:24This is Drew.
36:26Hey.
36:27Where are you guys from?
36:28We're going down to the end
36:29to open the door.
36:30Do you want to come and watch?
36:31He's talking about this building
36:32on his property
36:33that apparently has a really cool
36:34front door.
36:34Okay,
36:35just follow us down.
36:36Dan just had to go inside,
36:37push a button,
36:38and the entire front porch
36:39opened up.
36:40Wow.
36:41Are you a married couple?
36:42No.
36:43We do weddings here.
36:45But the inside is incredible
36:46with tons of little storefronts.
36:48I built it as a guest house.
36:50How much time did this
36:51all take you to build?
36:52About two,
36:52a little over two years.
36:53I built it all.
36:54I mean,
36:54I had a couple young guys help me.
36:56This is all common area
36:57for Airbnb.
36:59Dan even built this
37:00fully operational bar inside.
37:02What I tried to do
37:03was give you as many experiences
37:05as you can get.
37:06Like you got baby goats.
37:07We just came from the baby goats.
37:09Oh, baby goats.
37:10I get some negative people.
37:13Like I've had people
37:14come to the tree house
37:15and I try to tell them
37:19it's glamping,
37:20but I don't know
37:21that they know
37:21what glamping is.
37:23Air conditioning
37:23and a toilet.
37:24Yes.
37:25That's glamping.
37:26So originally this was
37:27an air cop there?
37:27It is an airplane.
37:28Yeah, it's an airplane.
37:29It was projects
37:30when I would do these things,
37:32it would be
37:3310 hours a day
37:34nonstop.
37:35Never sit down.
37:37Never do anything.
37:38Just do what you gotta do.
37:39Thanks again for the tour
37:40and showing me around, Dan.
37:41And just like that,
37:42I was alone
37:43with one mission.
37:44Let's go see
37:44what else there is.
37:45So there are a lot
37:46of Airbnbs here on Danville.
37:49Like the Zen Den.
37:50Here there's a yurt.
37:52But here there's
37:53like a concert stage.
37:54There's just so much
37:55detail behind everything.
37:56Tons of retro buses.
37:58And I even found
37:59Dan's next project.
38:00It's like a crashed
38:01airplane site.
38:02Where do you even
38:02get an airplane like this?
38:04But for now,
38:05it's still under construction.
38:07How does Dan even
38:07find all this cool stuff?
38:09And we're back.
38:10You know,
38:10this is the type of place
38:11a lot of people would just
38:12dream of doing
38:13for themselves one day.
38:14Like just getting
38:14a big plot of land
38:15and building whatever you want
38:17based on your passions.
38:18So it's really cool
38:19to see it be real.
38:24One thing I've heard Dan say
38:25a lot since I've been here
38:26is that he's not
38:27trying to make a hotel.
38:28I am not a resort
38:29and I'm glamping.
38:31So you have to understand
38:32you are one level
38:33above a tent.
38:35Right.
38:35He's trying to create
38:36an experience
38:37where you go to a farm,
38:38you meet a ton of cool people,
38:40you explore,
38:41and you have a great time.
38:42If you spend a night
38:42at Danville,
38:43you'll remember it
38:43for your entire life.
38:44I'm sure I will.
38:45There's no room service here,
38:47but Dan and everyone
38:47I've met have been
38:48so nice and kind.
38:49Of all the weird hotels
38:50I've been to,
38:51this has been one
38:52of my favorite experiences.
38:53So I'm giving Danville
38:54a 10 out of 10.
38:59And so with that,
39:00we have a winner.
39:03Only one place
39:04deserves George.
39:05And even though
39:05I had so much fun
39:06filming this video,
39:07there is one experience
39:08that really stood out
39:09that I will never forget.
39:18Thanks guys for watching.
39:19If you had fun,
39:20subscribe and maybe
39:21watch another video.
