00:00England's Women's Rugby World Cup campaign continued with an emphatic victory against
00:07Neighbours Scotland at Bristol City's Ashton Gate Stadium in the quarter-final stage of
00:12the competition. 48 was the final score, with the Red Roses scoring six tries on their way
00:19to the semi-finals, where they'll face France. As for Scotland, their aim was to get to the
00:24knockout stages, which they did, but ultimately they were beaten by a strong England side.
00:30On their own home soil, England are just about favourite to win the whole competition, but
00:36in France, in the semi-finals, they'll face certainly their strongest test yet. Following
00:43the conclusion of the game in Bristol, though, let's hear from the captain of England and
00:48the head coach, as well as the captain and head coach of Scotland.
00:52Yeah, I thought our first half was really good. We kind of structured our game plan and put
00:58them in our half. And then, obviously, we had to tackle conditions with the rain, which
01:02made it a little bit difficult, but yeah, overall happy.
01:04Yeah, like so. I think we dominated territory and we built pressure on them. We found weakness
01:14and cynical actions in their set piece, and we went for the jugular there. Probably left
01:20a little bit out there as well. Probably sort of need to talk to World Rugby about understanding
01:27when teams are so cynical. While we don't get a word penalty tries sometimes, so there's
01:32something that goes through the right channels. But I thought it was a terrific performance
01:37in the conditions.
01:38Just a word on Scotland as they exit the competition, just hearing from them there, and you can
01:42see at the end, the girls really emotional. So if you could just share your thoughts on
01:48that, I think.
01:50Yeah, I think they've really grown into this tournament. I think they obviously came out
01:53with a plan and were very intentful with it. I think they've done Scotland very proud
01:57and I think, obviously, they've got a few retirements. So congratulations to Jade and to
02:01Lisa. But yeah, fantastic from them to make it to the quarterfinals and we're very tough
02:07opposition today.
02:08And next up, France. Have you had much time to kind of think about that and reflect on
02:14who's next?
02:15You had a good look at them today. How old are those? We've obviously had a really challenging
02:23match in Montemarsson in 35 degrees heat. And obviously, as you understand, we've played
02:30some very, very close fixtures in England. So yeah, we respect them hugely. And I think
02:36they've got themselves out of a very difficult situation today and difficult conditions as
02:41well. So yeah, they'll be energetic for us.
02:43I've been looking at the campaign in general. Our goal was to get to the knockout stages
02:50of the World Cup, and we have done that. I think we've shown the growth in this group,
02:58the performances against Wales, Fiji, Canada. And at times, it just shows how far this group
03:05have come. They're a special group of women. It's a special group of people. We're hugely
03:14disappointed today. You know, we did want to cause an upset and that's, we have real belief
03:20in this group. But we will take something out of this because we shouldn't look at getting
03:26to the World Cup quarterfinals and end or something. It should be the start of something. And you
03:33know, this World Cup has moved the women's game forward so much. And we have to make sure
03:38that we keep moving at the same speed. So that's the one thing I would take out of this
03:43game is to show that the talent we have 23-32, but we can't stop. We've got to move forward.
03:49Hi there. Rachel, if I could come to you. I know you've spoken about the pride you have
03:54of leading this group of women, but can you just kind of sum up for us the emotions post
03:58match and your reflections on both the game and the World Cup campaign?
04:02Yeah, I think post match, hugely disappointed. I think, you know, this group and the work
04:07that we've done probably deserved a slightly better performance than we put in today.
04:11But we always knew that it was going to be a pretty tough ask coming up against England
04:14and they are a mall scrum team and the conditions kind of played into their hands in that respect.
04:21But, you know, I think as the campaign as a whole and how I feel in terms of leading this group,
04:27I couldn't be prouder. I think, you know, we've taken a huge step forward in terms of our performances
04:32across the four games, probably a little bit less today, but I think the three games previous
04:37we've shown exactly what we're about and what we can achieve.
04:39We've shown exactly what we can achieve.
