00:00With ploam in your hands, the fun never stops.
00:02Just ask anyone who ploams, from parents to tots.
00:05Welcome to Ms. Mojo.
00:07And today, we're counting down our picks for the most memorable advertisements
00:11that defined childhood for kids growing up in the 2000s.
00:14So don't delay. Order your Betty Crocker bacon fill now.
00:19Number 20. Baby Bottle Pop.
00:22This name just unlocked a core memory, didn't it?
00:24The Baby Bottle Pop song is as catchy as it gets, at times annoyingly so.
00:30Baby Bottle Pop.
00:31Just lick the pop, dip it and shake it.
00:34The product design is frankly adorable too, so no wonder it sold so well.
00:38What we can't wrap our heads around though, is what possessed 2000s kids to lick, dip, shake or dunk feeding bottles.
00:45Just for a sugar rush?
00:46The advertisement, which featured not babies, but older kids,
00:50made it look quote unquote cool, and everyone hopped on the Baby Bottle Pop trend.
00:55It's a Baby Bottle Pop. Baby Bottle Pop.
00:58Baby Bottle Pops. A candy pop you lick and dip.
01:00It's like the 90s pacifier fad reimagined.
01:04For people who lived through this era though, these lollipops were a must-have.
01:08They were so popular that even the Jonas Brothers performed their jingle once.
01:11Baby Bottle Pop. Baby Bottle Pop.
01:15Number 19. Tooth Tunes.
01:21Hasbro was in their bag with this one.
01:23A toothbrush that plays your favorite song while you brush your teeth sounds like a great idea even now.
01:28Tooth Tunes is the only brush that sends music through your teeth.
01:31The commercial portrays regular brushing like an oral hygiene boot camp, liberated by Tooth Tunes.
01:37The scene goes from gray and drab to colorful and fun as kids rock out to their toothbrush playlists.
01:43From Hannah Montana to Rihanna, One Direction, Charlie XCX, and Queen, Tooth Tunes had it all.
01:49Look for the new Hannah Montana Season 2 CD and Tooth Tunes, Best of Both Worlds by Miley Cyrus.
01:54Now that's the song I can brush to.
01:57Tooth Tunes!
01:58Unfortunately, each brush came with just one song.
02:01That wasn't a deal breaker though.
02:03It just made people want to collect them all.
02:05Talk about smart marketing.
02:07Number 18. Reese's Puffs.
02:09As delicious as these chocolatey peanut butter delights are, they have no place in a healthy breakfast.
02:14That's why the brand made those unbelievably addictive commercials, so that we were too busy singing along to notice the sugar content.
02:28From RV and Terrence's rap in one ad to William Lupo's version in another, Reese's Puffs had a chokehold on us.
02:35The former, in particular, was so iconic that it is referenced to this day.
02:40Lupo had a sick flow in his ad too, which made people wish he released more music.
02:44When they come by, they make the morning time epic.
02:47Either way, Reese's Puffs ads had an undeniable influence on pop culture.
02:51Number 17.
02:53AT&T.
02:54This commercial about a phone plan could easily pass as an SNL sketch.
02:57What's up?
02:58Your cell phone bill is what's up.
03:00All this texting.
03:01O-I-G, I-N-V-D.
03:02AT&T got Orla Cassidy and Stanley Tucci on board for this ad,
03:06where a young girl obsessed with messaging her BFF Jill only speaks in texting lingo.
03:11Cassidy plays her frustrated mother, while Tucci offers the voiceover, urging you to get
03:16the AT&T plan in question.
03:18Now too much texting is NBD.
03:20Singular brings you unlimited texting, just $5 more a month.
03:23The skit became so famous, AT&T had to come out with a sequel, where even grandma is busy
03:28texting her BFF Rose.
03:30Regardless of how effective this ad was in terms of sales, we still remember it because
03:34it was hilarious.
03:35Mom, who could you be texting?
03:38YGK, my BFF Rose.
03:41Now get a texting plan, the whole family can NJOY.
03:44Number 16.
03:45Above the Influence.
03:47When it comes to anti-substance use commercials, this one has to be the creepiest.
03:51Above the Influence's Flat Girl ad shows a deflated young woman lounging lifelessly on
03:56a couch while her friend explains that her flattened state is due to marijuana.
04:00Sarah?
04:01Sarah?
04:01She won't answer you.
04:04Or she can't.
04:05The scene is so disturbing that it might as well be the opening shot of a horror movie.
04:09Though absurd, it strongly cautions against substance use, like another Above the Influence
04:14ad where a girl with substance use disorder hallucinates that her dog is talking to her.
04:18You're not the same when you smoke.
04:20And I miss my friend.
04:22That said, the dramatic Flat Girl imagery would definitely be regarded as problematic today.
04:27Back in the 2000s, though, it stuck with kids because of the fear it induced.
04:32Number 15.
04:33Education Connection.
04:35You can't tell us this ad was not Disney-coded.
04:38The jingle is giving Miley Cyrus, and the actress even does the Disney knees.
04:42The lyrics are about a woman who wants to pursue higher education, but is confused about
04:47which college to attend.
04:48That's where Education Connection comes in, allowing her to find the right fit for free.
04:53Get connected for free, free, with Education Connection.
04:58Get connected for free.
05:00Her optimism about hopefully bagging a better job after getting her degree makes one wish
05:04things really were that simple.
05:06Either way, the tune was an absolute earworm.
05:09Although we're not sure how many people actually focused on the service being advertised, they
05:13might have been too busy grooving to the infectious beat instead.
05:16Get connected for free.
05:20Number 14.
05:22Fanta.
05:23You know you scored an advertising win when the fictional girl group in your ad gets a
05:27Wikipedia page of its own.
05:29We're talking, of course, about the Fantanas, who fronted some of the most memorable Fanta
05:33ads ever.
05:35Fanta helps you read the scenes.
05:37Wanna, Fanta?
05:38Don't you wanna?
05:38Wanna, Fanta?
05:39Don't you wanna?
05:40You could be next.
05:42These commercials were so ubiquitous that you could hardly look at a Fanta without the jingle
05:45playing in your head like a pop-up ad you couldn't get rid of.
05:48Interestingly, it also got people arguing over how the soft drink's name was supposed to
05:53be pronounced.
05:54Mm-hmm.
05:54Wanna, Fanta?
05:55Don't you wanna?
05:56Seeing the success of the Fantanas concept, the brand stuck with it, only changing the
06:00member lineup every few years.
06:02Due to the band's relevance, it was even parodied in shows like Mad TV and Family Guy.
06:07Now that is impact.
06:08Don't you wanna, wanna, sinker?
06:10Don't you wanna, wanna, sinker?
06:12It doesn't keep me up at night, but it helps me poo.
06:17Number 13.
06:18McDonald's Filet-O-Fish.
06:20If you weren't already thinking of this ad randomly, we're sorry for reminding you because
06:24the jingle is going to be looping in your head now.
06:27The commercial parodies the big-mouthed Billy Bass fad and has a wall-mounted fish demanding
06:31a Filet-O-Fish through song.
06:33He's crying out to a man enjoying the burger, who simply vibes to the tune while wordlessly
06:37munching on his food.
06:39So give me back that Filet-O-Fish.
06:41Give me that fish.
06:43Despite its simple concept, the ad was a major success.
06:47If it had been released now, we're sure it would have sparked a TikTok dance challenge.
06:51Is it too late to start one now?
06:53If you were you in that sandwich, you wouldn't be getting this call.
06:57So give me back that Filet-O-Fish.
06:59Give me that fish.
07:01Number 12.
07:02Flom.
07:03The beady cousin of Slime had little ones in a trance.
07:06After all, Flom commercials were as colorful as the product they were selling.
07:10They made you want to experience the squishy crunch yourself, like an ASMR video.
07:15What they did not show was how messy and short-lived the toy was.
07:19You'll get double-sized tubs of Flom in every color, free.
07:23Double the Flom means double the fun for the same low price.
07:26Remember when you'd leave your Flom out for some time and it would harden so much that
07:30you couldn't play with it anymore?
07:31That usually meant it was time for another trip to the toy store.
07:34Besides, kids probably tried to imitate the ad, covering everything in Flom.
07:39But we doubt many could turn a fake fossil into a Flom dinosaur.
07:43Even so, it was just too irresistible.
07:46Nickelodeon Flom comes in six colors, each sold separately.
07:48Flom shape or sold separately from Mattel.
07:50Number 11.
07:51Betty Crocker Bake and Fill.
07:53It's been a while since this famous baking set was discontinued, but our love and appreciation
07:57for it have only grown stronger.
08:00They just don't make stuff like this anymore.
08:01Or maybe they do, but the Betty Crocker Bake and Fill will always have a special place
08:06in the hearts of 2000s kids.
08:08Ever since we saw the commercial that made Baked Alaska look like an easy recipe, we were
08:13hooked.
08:13And everything's non-stick, so there's no messy cleanup.
08:16These are the kind of desserts you'll find in the finest restaurants.
08:19Ice cream cakes, Italian-filled tours, even Baked Alaska.
08:23Suddenly, everyone who had one of these turned into a culinary innovator.
08:27Obviously, we'll ignore the fact that none of our experimental cakes ever looked as perfect
08:31as the ones in the ad.
08:33After all, the real fun was the mess we made along the way.
08:36Just fill the inner chamber instead of the bank.
08:38Now make all your cakes extra special.
08:41Make them Betty Crocker Bacon-Fill Cake.
08:43Number 10.
08:45Bump-Its.
08:45Are you tired of flat, boring hairstyles?
08:48Do you go through a can of hairspray trying to get that full, volumized look?
08:53Then bump it up with Bump-Its.
08:55Hairstyles change and evolve through the years.
08:57And while today's styles lean fairly natural, in the 2000s, we were going for sky-high volume.
09:03Fortunately for those of us unskilled in the ways of teasing and who didn't want to use
09:07half a can of hairspray every time we went out, there were Bump-Its.
09:10Imagine being able to create today's hottest hairstyles in seconds.
09:15And they're so easy to use.
09:17Anyone can be a stylist.
09:19These little pieces of plastic added the hair height we were searching for with minimal skill,
09:24effort, or product.
09:25Sure, they're not quite as easy to use effectively as the ad would have you believe,
09:29but it's definitely not the worst as-seen-on-TV product you could purchase.
09:33Wear Bump-Its anywhere, every day.
09:36They're the easiest, most versatile hair accessory you've ever worn.
09:40And in case you were curious, yes, Bump-Its are still for sale at many major retailers.
09:46Number 9.
09:47Fruit Loops Cereal Straws.
09:49Hey, Toucan Sam, how would you make milk more fun?
09:52Why, with Fruit Loops Cereal Straws.
09:54This was a breakfast food that was kind of ahead of its time.
09:58Fruit Loops Cereal Straws were made of, well, cereal, and allowed you to sip your milk through them.
10:03Just dip them in and sip, sip, sip.
10:05Sip, sip.
10:06And pull them out and munch, munch, munch.
10:09Munch, munch.
10:10All together now.
10:11Dip, sip, munch.
10:13Considering the current environmental backlash against the use of standard plastic straws,
10:17we wouldn't be surprised if this style of product ends up making a comeback.
10:21So fun to dip, sip, munch.
10:23There's even a Change.org petition to bring them back that has more than 80,000 signatures.
10:28Kellogg's New York City Cafe actually brought back a limited edition version for a week in 2018.
10:34But so far, there's no word on a more permanent product.
10:37Number 8.
10:38Get a Mac.
10:39Apple has created a number of memorable ads in its decades in the tech industry.
10:43But one of their most unforgettable campaigns has to be Get a Mac, which ran from 2006 to 2009.
10:50You may begin.
10:51PC, why is there a referee here?
10:52To make sure you play fair, Mac, so you don't go boasting about how Leopard is better and faster than Vista.
10:57I didn't say that. The Wall Street Journal said that.
10:59Featuring John Hodgman in the role of PC and Justin Long as Mac,
11:03the commercials pitted the two operating systems against one another in a battle for supremacy,
11:07or at least coolness.
11:09The format was a success, and not long after the first ad kicked off,
11:13Apple reported a big increase of Mac's sold.
11:15And you know how you have your revolutionary new battery that lasts almost an entire workday?
11:19Well, we are offering this new extremely long cord.
11:22This campaign had dozens of ads, but the original is the one that most people will remember the most.
11:28Yeah, see, now you can run Mac OS X or Windows on a Mac.
11:31So in a way, I'm kind of like the only computer you'll ever need.
11:33Number 7.
11:34Quiznos Spong Monkeys.
11:36We love these ads!
11:39Because they are good to us!
11:42These ads, which began airing around 2004, prompted a whole lot of questions.
11:47What was Quiznos thinking?
11:49What are those things?
11:50The Quiznos subs!
11:54They are tasty, they are crunchy, they are warm because they toast them!
11:58Is this the best ad we've ever seen?
12:00Or the worst?
12:01It turns out the creatures in this bizarre and unforgettable campaign are known as Spong Monkeys,
12:07and they're the creation of British animator and humorist Joel Veach.
12:10So they're a dollar off!
12:13When you bring in a coupon!
12:15In retrospect, it seems like Quiznos was actually a head-on the trend of luring customers with absurdist humor.
12:22Do these commercials make you want to eat a sub?
12:24Probably not.
12:25But have they been haunting your nightmares for years?
12:27Very likely.
12:28The virtual pet website Neopets was a fixture for late 90s and 2000s kids alike.
12:45Launched in 1999, it allowed users to use virtual currency to raise and build up their collection of pets.
12:51Neopets! The fantastic range of voice-activated pets that you'll love!
12:55Speak softly to them and they'll show you they're happy!
12:58You're so beautiful.
12:58But raise your voice!
13:00It's to scorch you!
13:01And they'll let you know they're upset!
13:03While the whole idea behind the site was to create a digital interactive space,
13:07the company eventually expanded into selling toys to go along with the pets you knew and loved from your computer screen.
13:13Neopets can also talk to each other!
13:16Collect them all! Voice-activated Neopets!
13:19The ads aired in the mid-aughts and were extremely tempting to any children who had used the site
13:24and wanted a tangible part of it.
13:27Number 5. Snuggie
13:28Now, there's the Snuggie, the blanket that has sleeves.
13:32Snuggie didn't invent the concept of a sleeved blanket, but they sure did popularize it.
13:37Their commercials made viewers laugh out loud,
13:40largely because it was somewhat unclear whether the brand was taking itself seriously or not.
13:44Snuggie is made of ultra-soft, thick, luxurious fleece
13:47with oversized sleeves, so you can move your arms and use your hands, and still be wrapped in warm.
13:53The commercials showed families wearing matching Snuggies in increasingly ridiculous situations,
13:58and seemingly thinking they were awesome.
14:00In case you didn't grow up during this time,
14:02there was a period where there was nothing more hilarious than getting someone a Snuggie as a gag gift,
14:07and then watching as they ended up actually enjoying it.
14:09Snuggie!
14:10Snuggie is available at retail stores everywhere,
14:13so if you want to be warm and cuddly, it's time to get on your Snuggie!
14:17Number 4. Guitar Hero World Tour
14:20People love music, and people love sports.
14:23So what's better than an ad that combines them?
14:25This campaign for Guitar Hero World Tour featured four of the world's most popular athletes reenacting an iconic scene from Risky Business while playing the game.
14:33Just take those old records on the shelf, I said listen to them by myself.
14:40Kobe Bryant appears alongside Alex Rodriguez, Michael Phelps, and Tony Hawk in this fun-filled commercial from 2008.
14:47Unsurprisingly, it absolutely helped increase the brand's clout and popularity.
14:52This ad is all the more beloved now that Kobe's no longer with us, and his co-star Alex Rodriguez spoke out after his death,
14:58as the two had become friends in the years since filming it.
15:01Number 3.
15:02Kidz Bop
15:04With friends.
15:05Get crazy with the Kidz Bop kids.
15:10For all you non-2000s kids out there, here's the lowdown.
15:13The Kidz Bop album took the biggest pop hits of the time and re-recorded them to make them more family-friendly.
15:19You're so lucky, because 7 means some of your favorite songs are together again in one great place.
15:28The ads always featured kids singing and dancing along to the tunes that would be featured on the album.
15:33At the time, the concept of being a Kidz Bop kid seemed like the coolest thing imaginable.
15:38It's awesome, it rock, it's music made just for me.
15:42The first compilation came out in 2001, and in the years since, they've managed to make it all the way to Kidz Bop 51.
15:49Fun fact, did you know that Zendaya actually featured on Kidz Bop 15?
15:53Number 2.
15:55iPod Silhouette.
15:56Do you think that you don't have to ever hold?
15:58Do you think that you can get away with it?
16:00This has got to be one of the most iconic ad campaigns of all time.
16:05The silhouette style ads became synonymous with the iPod shortly after the first one aired.
16:09Despite the fact that Steve Jobs actually wasn't initially a fan of the commercial.
16:13Technologic.
16:14Buy it, use it, break it, fix it, trash it, change it, now upgrade it.
16:18The brightly colored backgrounds, dark figures, and bright white iPods were a perfect combination.
16:24And they were set to catchy songs that made it impossible not to dance along.
16:32Some of the most memorable featured the Ting Ting's Shut Up and Let Me Go, and Jet's Are You Gonna Be My Girl.
16:37Shut up and let me go, hey!
16:39Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
16:43Optimum Triple Play.
16:45The reggaeton track was a banger.
16:47Whenever you're able, HD is free.
16:49Let me put it on the table for $29.95, you can design your label.
16:53FreeCreditReport.com.
16:55The tune was cool, but the lyrics were low-key shady.
16:58Outgoin' butt was too lazy, now instead of lookin' flyin', rollin' fat.
17:02My legs are stickin' to the vinyl and my posse's gettin' laughed at.
17:04Zoo Pals.
17:05This ad for animal-themed tableware would probably work on kids today, too.
17:09Now, now, Zoo Pals.
17:12Zoo Pals make eating fun.
17:14Capri Sun.
17:15To this day, we respect the pouch.
17:23Respect the pouch!
17:24Respect it!
17:24Fruit Gushers.
17:26Karate kids with fruits for heads make for a convincing candy commercial.
17:36Before we continue, be sure to subscribe to our channel and ring the bell to get notified
17:41about our latest videos.
17:43You have the option to be notified for occasional videos, or all of them.
17:47If you're on your phone, make sure you go into your settings and switch on notifications.
17:52Number 1.
17:53Coca-Cola Penguins and Polar Bears.
17:56Coca-Cola has long been associated with Christmas, and that continued in this memorable ad, where
18:01a family of polar bears looks on as a group of penguins parties to holiday music.
18:05Give all this Coca-Cola and the real famous cat.
18:10When the baby bear slides down into the penguins midst, it's a stressful moment.
18:14But no worries, because a young penguin comes up to the young bear and offers a Coke as
18:18a peace offering.
18:25Does it matter that there's actually nowhere in the world where penguins and polar bears
18:28are actually found in the same place?
18:30No!
18:31We can suspend our disbelief and enjoy this moment of inter-species friendship.
18:40Do you think commercials were better back in the day?
18:43Tell us your thoughts in the comments.
18:45F-R-E-E, that spells free.
18:47CreditReport.com, baby.
