00:00Has a WWE star confirmed they are leaving WWE? Shane McMahon, welcome in AEW. My review
00:08of AEW Dynamite and more, I'm Luke Owen and this is the WrestleTalk News.
00:16Earlier this week it was reported that Rhea Ripley might be ready for a Summerslam return
00:20and will look to target Liv Morgan, who is trying to steal her Dom Dom. But maybe she
00:25now doesn't need a Dom because she's got a buddy, guy?
00:28The pair announced on Instagram that they have tied the knot and gotten married, which
00:32is awesome. Massive congratulations to the pair, who look far too good together.
00:37From one star set to make her return to WWE's screen, to one that we may have seen the last
00:42of, that being the breaker of records, Natalya.
00:45The expiry date of Natalya's WWE deal is something that has been known for a while now, and while
00:50the company has reportedly offered her a new deal to stay, as far as we know that extension
00:56has not yet been signed, but the feeling is she'll likely stay with WWE.
01:00But while we'll wait concrete news on that matter, we may have received a new update courtesy
01:05of Natalya's Twitter bio, as she's removed WWE from it, and it now simply reads, Ironheart.
01:12And being that it was on Twitter, it got a lot of people speculating that this was her confirming
01:17her departure from WWE, and we can start the Natty to AEW confirmed gimmicks.
01:22But before we get ahead of ourselves, while she has removed WWE from her Twitter bio, she
01:27still has references to it on Instagram, which is a way nicer place than Twitter, go follow
01:32me on Instagram.
01:35So this is likely just internet speculation, but what would you like to see Natty do?
01:39Should she stay or should she go?
01:41Let me know in the comments down below.
01:42Perhaps she could give a little boost to AEW's women's division and those TV ratings.
01:47Last week saw a disastrous TV rating for AEW Dynamite, drawing not only its lowest overall
01:54viewership, but also its lowest 18-49 demo of all time, at a time when they're negotiating
02:00a new TV deal with WarnerMedia.
02:02The internet, being the internet, all had their thoughts on why the rating was so low.
02:06However, according to Justin Barrasso over at Sports Illustrated, so do take this with
02:10a pinch of salt, Warner themselves stressed that one low rating was not a cause for concern.
02:16He also adds that while AEW's locker room were far from happy about the record low last
02:20week, no one is panicking.
02:23According to Barrasso, WarnerMedia are confident that Dynamite having its Big Bang Theory lead-in
02:28again this week will bounce back its ratings.
02:30So I guess we'll find out just how much of a draw Sheldon Cooper is for AEW when those
02:35figures come out later.
02:36Lastly before the Dynamite review, Tony Khan did an interview with Sports Illustrated where
02:40he was asked about the rumour and innuendo that Shane McMahon has been pitching to come
02:47in to All Elite Wrestling.
02:49Khan said, I've never met Shane, but we have a lot of mutual friends.
02:52I have a lot of respect for him as an executive and a professional wrestler.
02:57Shane is always welcome in AEW.
02:59I respect Shane McMahon as a wrestler, said no one ever.
03:03But look, we may not be able to do Natty just yet, but we can start a Shane McMahon to AEW
03:08confirmed gimmick, am I right?
03:09Come on, let's make it happen.
03:11Speaking of gimmicks, and as we teased over on Parts Fun Known over the weekend, and announced
03:14on the Raw review on the WrestleTalk Podcast, due to popular demand, and because we bloody
03:19love doing it, Worst Match Ever is coming back.
03:24For more on its new home on Parts Fun Known, check out this trailer for the first episode
03:28where we watch one of the worst tag matches I've ever seen.
03:32Welcome to Worst Match Ever, we're back!
03:36This is filmed in somebody's house maybe in 1999.
03:39Why is it still blurry?
03:41Why are they licking all these kids?
03:44I think for the first time in wrestling history, he tried to do a knee drop and an elbow drop
04:13at the same time.
04:14The innovation.
04:15Thank God the referee was fine.
04:16One, two, three!
04:17Whoa!
04:18That referee wanted to f***ing get out of here, he was like one, two, three, that's it!
04:31But it's Thursday so you know what that means, it's time for my review of AEW Dynamite, aka
04:36this Forbidden Door stuff's a bit of a lark, edition of AEW Dynamite in about 5 minutes.
04:41The show opened with MJF, who came out for a town hall meeting as he wanted to speak
04:45to Buffalo's own Daniel Garcia.
04:47The pair put over each other's accomplishments, and Garcia talked about how he came up short
04:50against MJF when challenging him for the world title last year.
04:53But while that sucked, it spurred him to be better.
04:56Why be a pillar of AEW when you can be a backbone?
05:00MJF went into hard sell mode for this weekend's PPV and on Garcia, challenging him to the biggest
05:06match he can possibly get, MJF at All In.
05:10But before we get excited about that, Will Ospreay came out as well to put over Garcia.
05:15Danny has been racking up these wins as of late because he wants to challenge Ospreay
05:19for the international title, and next week at beach break he'll get his shot.
05:23And because he might win the AEW world title this weekend, Ospreay will put that on the
05:28line as well.
05:29The key to this, and the reason why I loved this segment so much, is that Max suddenly
05:33had a moment of clarity.
05:35He just got upstaged.
05:37Him offering Garcia a match against him at AEW's biggest show possible isn't as big
05:42of a deal as him facing Ospreay on next week's Dynamite.
05:46It's still a big match, but it's not the biggest match of Garcia's career.
05:51And when he faced MJF last year, that was the biggest match of his career.
05:56In the time he's gone, MJF has been replaced by the new Buzz Lightyear of Andy's room
06:02in Will Ospreay.
06:03I just hope this means Max won't push him out of a window.
06:06This is a brilliant little bit of detail for the MJF character, and one that he sold perfectly
06:11as he left the segment.
06:12I don't think that is the All In match by the way, I think this will be motivation for
06:15Max to make sure that he, as Woody, becomes the favourite toy once again.
06:20Blackball Combat Club were having a great trios match with LIJ of Hiromu, Shingo and T-Tan,
06:25but it ended in a rare AEW DQ when Mox just got a chair and twatted his opponents.
06:30It broke down into a brawl, Tetsuya Naito brawled with Mox, and Bryan Danielson looked
06:33on disappointingly at Takagi for using the hammer elbows on Wheelie Yuta, who has a history
06:38of neck issues.
06:39A lot went down there, and while the DQ finish might be done to build a rematch in New Japan
06:43between the factions, it did have a little smell of, don't want to beat either of these
06:47guys.
06:48I don't love that.
06:50The benefit is, because AEW don't book DQs on every single show, this didn't feel
06:56cheap or frustrating.
06:57Jay White beat Rey Fenix in a very good match to advance in the Owen Hart Cup with a great
07:01finish that sold their speed vs strength story.
07:04Jay kept attempting the Blade Runner, but Fenix was too quick and escaped, so in the end
07:08White just muscled him into the move and hid it for the win.
07:11After the match, the Patriarchy came down to put the champs on notice that they're coming
07:15for the trio's titles.
07:18The Jacksons announced that the Wild Card in the Owen Hart Cup is their own pick.
07:22Fightful Selector reporting that while they cannot confirm it's Hangman Page, he is
07:26expected to be back in AEW in July…ish.
07:30The Acclaim came out for a promo, and the Bucks announced that they will have a Trios
07:33match this Sunday, but Billy Gunn announced that sadly he will not be in the match, which
07:38means we will not get to see Billy Gunn vs Kazuchika Okada, because the Rainmaker would stand
07:42no chance.
07:43Instead he will be replaced by Horseshoe Tanahashi!
07:46A great bit of fun for the New Japan diehards, and a whole new dynamic for this forever feud
07:51now that Okada has this new character.
07:53Tony Storm, Mariah May and Mina Shirakawa teamed together to beat the Outcast in a match
07:57that really solved the tensions and dissensions between the three babyfaces.
08:01Everyone looked great in this match, and in particular I really want to put over Harley
08:06Cameron, who continues to impress.
08:08She was dead good in this match.
08:10Mina won with the Mina driver, and then May celebrated with her BFFs by giving them both
08:14champagne.
08:15At first Tony looked like she was into this a little bit, but then Mina attempted to crack
08:19her in the head with a champagne bottle, only to hit Mariah instead.
08:24Tony was furious, Mina was shook, and May was dead.
08:28Her great final angle ahead of their title match this weekend, and a brilliant way to
08:33build May's decision on who is the bestest of her BFFs.
08:37Mercedes-Monnais cut a promo on Stephanie Vakur ahead of their title match this weekend,
08:41and Vakur will have a match on Collision this Saturday.
08:43Would have been nice to have built this match with more than just video promos, but I feel
08:45like asking AEW to have more than one women's match on Dynamite at this point is like putting
08:49Ribena in the ocean and expecting it to taste fruity.
08:52Chris Jericho came out for a promo and announced that Minoru Suzuki will be his tag partner
08:56this weekend at Forbidden Door, but Murder Grandpa instead challenged Jericho for the
09:00FTW Championship.
09:01Joe and crew came out for some fun shibata comedy, and they brawled and sent the heels packing.
09:06Look it is what it is.
09:07Jericho vs. Suzuki will be fun.
09:09This could have been an email.
09:10Zack Sabre Jr took on Kyle O'Reilly in a match that was for the Sickos, who replied
09:14to this announcement like this…
09:15Yes!
09:19This was so awesome that it got this is wrestling chants, and Buffalo was right, this was wrestling.
09:25Zack was awesome, Kyle was awesome, and this was awesome.
09:28I don't care if it's a heatless banger, Dan Layton, this is my cup of tea and my thirst
09:33was quenched.
09:34Bang all over me!
09:35Brilliant this was!
09:36We got some crossover wackiness afterwards as the rest of TDMK came out to support Zack,
09:41while Tomohiro freaking Ishii came out to back up Orange Cassidy.
09:45I loved all of this, and I popped for the Stone Pitbull.
09:47It was messier than most pro wrestling divorces, but I had a wonderful time.
09:51And the Dynamite main event saw our Forbidden Door main event team together as Will, Osprey
09:55and Swerve Strickland took on the Gates of Agony.
09:57How can they possibly co-exist?
10:00Pretty well once they got on the same page.
10:02Will couldn't pull the trigger on the Tiger Driver, but they finally worked together
10:05to beat the bigger men in a great final few minutes.
10:07And the show closed with a brilliant visual as well…
10:10And the show closed with a brilliant visual as…
10:12F***ing hell.
10:13And the show closed with a brilliant visual as Will cheekily stole swerve's title to
10:27pose with its got it in the end, but that Strickland Killer Instinct chop blocked Will
10:31and he beautifully hit the house call to lay a mouse.
10:33A great finish to a very good Dynamite, all the segments built the PPV this weekend, and
10:37it was a very fun go home show.
10:39It's 4 out of 5.
10:40Now go and get hyped for Money in the Bank by watching myself and Oliver Davis review every
10:44Money in the Bank ever in three words or less slash fewer.
10:48Watch out for more!
10:49See ya next time!
