Parcourir le "Great Patagonia Trail", un sentier qui traverse, sur plus de 3000 kilomètres, des territoires sauvages d'une beauté à couper le souffle : voici le défi qu'ont relevé le photographe et réalisateur Garrett Martin, et ses trois autres jeunes acolytes. Plus qu'un véritable sentier de randonnée, ce sont des chemins de terre, des pistes pour chevaux et des cours d'eau agités qu'empruntent les quatre randonneurs. Départ à Santiago, la capitale du Chili, jusqu'à la destination finale, le magnifique parc naturel Patagonia, pour une moyenne de 16 kilomètres par jour pendant quatre mois. Peu expérimentés mais très motivés, les randonneurs s'accrochent et font de belles rencontres, notamment avec des paysans, des Indiens Mapuche et un activiste qui milite contre le code de l'eau au Chili.
