00:16you prayed with faith fasted with hope and followed his path with all your heart yet

00:22despite your obedience you still feel lost and alone you wonder Lord do you see my struggle

00:36for reassurance a reminder that you are never truly alone here's the good news God's silence

00:44is not his absence even when Jesus is silent he is present even in the chaos he is Lord

01:00welcome welcome to Lion's Roar 3.8 ministries my name is George Magalhães and Amos 3.8 tells us

01:51book of Mark chapter 4 verse 39 we'll be reading as you can see on the screen from the King James

01:58version today's topic is God in the storm so Mark 4 39 and he arose and rebuked the wind and set

02:10on to the sea peace be still and the wind seized and there was a great calm amen amen all right welcome

02:21welcome prophet Sabrina for those one you prophet Sabrina happens to be also my lovely wife and we've

02:29got an amazing study today amen amen so this powerful study that we're doing today takes us into the heart

02:37of the storm on the sea of Galilee so we're going to be focusing mailing on mark 4 35 to 41 where the

02:45disciples despite being exactly where Jesus led them faced the terrifying storm Jesus was silent

02:51but he was present amen amen all right he was present and he is present even in your life today

03:02so at first it seems Jesus didn't care but the truth is he was always there he was always present

03:09today we'll explore how to face life storms with confidence knowing the one in our boat is greater than

03:16the waves outside now let me add a little disclaimer here it does not mean that you won't panic at times

03:23it does not mean that you won't lose your head at times we will talk about that though it happens

03:27it happens it's home will come we will talk about that now the following are the titles and the

03:33subtitles that we'll be discussing today number one storms will come even with Jesus in the boat

03:40number two Jesus is present even in the midst of his silence number three the perfect response number four

03:48revelation in the storm number five facing the storm number six summary and number seven will finish

03:55with declarations amen amen all right so number one storms will come not may come will come

04:07we know for a fact it's never stopped there's always storms storms will come some ways bigger some

04:14are smaller some are so small they barely notice it but storms will come even with Jesus in the book

04:22mark 4 35 to 37 and i'm reading from the amplified classic says on that same day when evening had come

04:32he said to them talking about Jesus said to the disciples let us go over to the other side of the lake

04:39and leaving the throng the throng means the public uh the crowd the big crowd they took him with them

04:47just as he was in the boat in which he was sitting and other boats were with him and the furious storm of

04:56wind of hurricane proportions so this is a big storm in another words arose

05:02excuse me and the waves kept beating into the boat so that it was already becoming filled

05:12so the boat was actually filling up amen amen take that into account all right now this biblical

05:19recollection remind us that even if we are in the will of god it does not mean everything will go

05:25smoothly and if anybody tells you that um you know they need to go and pray again as we just read it

05:34was jesus who initiated the journey whoo how many of us know that right he said let us go to the other

05:41side this simple statement shows that jesus is the one who initiates the journey he leads and the

05:48disciples follow in faith they are doing exactly what god has called them to do moving forward under

05:56his guidance yet even though they were in the will of god a violent storm suddenly arises this moment

06:04reminds us that being on god's path does not guarantee a life free from hardship or struggle it's important

06:12to understand that storms does not mean god has abandoned us on the contrary they often mean we are

06:18exactly even though we don't like hearing that we are exactly where god wants us to be growing

06:24learning and being prepared for what lies ahead the presence of jesus in the boat symbolizes that god is

06:32with us through every trial even when the chaos feels overwhelming right let's back that with another verse

06:40isaiah 43 verse 2 isaiah 43 verse 2 and i'm reading from the king james version this time

06:47when thou passest through the waters i will be with thee and through the rivers they shall not

06:55overflow thee when thou walkest through the fire thou shall not be burned neither shall the flame kindle

07:04upon thee oh it says shall not be but didn't say you won't feel hot but anyway that's for another story

07:09all right number two number two is jesus is present even in the midst of his silence

07:18let's keep that is so annoying that part let's keep reading i'm just saying my personal view i'm being

07:24sincere here i'm not oh no holy god oh oh i never never get annoyed none of this nonsense religious

07:32garbage yes i i get annoyed and but we still know god is god right exactly revere god we still like

07:40dude the one of the verse i always said to my husband i always remember as a kid was this verse

07:45where he goes with the with the breath of his nostril he can destroy things i mean i was what nine

07:51year old back then i still remember that till now so number two jesus is present even in the midst of his

07:57silence so mark 438 mark 438 in the new king james version says but he was in the stern i don't know

08:06where that is the stern is basically where you have um the most of the stuff kept yeah it's at the back

08:12like you're keeping stuff there like you know in the old town they would keep like um um you know grocery

08:18stuff like you know like stuff groceries die are we yeah no i'm just joking a bottle of faluda

08:26uh aluda i mean aluda he's been looking at aluda baby oh my goodness come on i miss mauritius anyway

08:32all right keep going but he was in the stern asleep on a pillow

08:38keep going and they woke him and said to him teacher do you not care that we are perishing oh

08:45it's a question that we all seem to ask right so amidst the raging storm the disciples were terrified

08:51for their life the waves were crashing against the boats and water was filling the boats see

08:58in that situation when you feel like you you don't just feel it sorry you don't just hear the storm

09:04you see the water is feeling and you're about to be like you know overtaken with water right yet there

09:10was jesus still sleeping what peacefully in this turn right he's silent at the moment might felt

09:19confusing or even alarming to the disciples i mean how many of us can relate to the situation are we

09:25still pleasing god pleasing to god we are suffering but how much is too much right the disciple cried out

09:32in panic teacher don't you care that we are perishing because in those situations if you think

09:40about it a lot of the times when you're facing situations like that most of us we get to a certain

09:45point when the boat starts filling up and we go okay up until now i believe god is working now i

09:51feel like god is punishing me i must have done something wrong what's going on yeah it's like

09:56the job situation all the friends did he's kept attacking you must have done something wrong otherwise

10:00otherwise god wouldn't allow you to go through suffering but and a lot of the times he does not

10:04have anything to do with that that's religious garbage remember jesus initiated the the the what do you call

10:13it the going the journey himself right but yet you know in the in the midst of the storm you panic

10:20like george was saying and some of us are also like this the storm is going the water we are calling

10:25oh what are we going to do what are we going to do for a quarter of the time was what are we going to

10:28do then we remember jesus is here you know wake up teacher don't you care that we are perishing is

10:35what the disciples say now jesus quietness was not a sign that he that he um he had turned away or was

10:42indifference to what was happening to them instead instead his peace was so deep he himself his peace

10:50was so deep and unshakable that he could rest even amidst the chaos right i mean his presence was

11:00constant even if he was not speaking or acting in the way the disciple expected even the disciple i must

11:08have forgotten like in the the all the storm going on that it was jesus who said let's go to the other

11:14side if he said let's go to the other side you surely will end up to the other side right sometime

11:20in our storms gum god may seem silent we may feel alone wondering if he cares or if he's listening or are we

11:30being punished like george saying like jesus in the boat god's silence can be a space of peace in the

11:38midst of turmoil are you sure sabrina it doesn't feel like it yes because just because you don't see

11:46you don't feel doesn't mean he's not there he was sleeping peacefully his presence never leaves us

11:52even when we cannot sense him let's get another bible uh two bible verses to confirm that right

11:59isaiah 43 verse 2 isaiah 43 verse 2 in the new king james version when you pass through the waters

12:07waters waters like my kids say america when you pass through the waters

12:13i will be with you and through the rivers they shall not overflow you when you walk through the

12:21fire you shall not be burned nor shall the flames scorch you and psalm 121 verse 4 psalm 121 verse 4

12:31reading from the new king james version behold he who keeps israel shall neither slumber nor sleep

12:41but he was sleeping in the boat but he knew what was happening

12:46he wanted to go on the other side now what was going in in in um in in uh with jesus we won't

12:53know until we talk to him but he was peaceful the bible say he was peacefully sleeping so he knows he's

13:00going to go to the other side right think about it if he tells you let's go on a journey you surely

13:08will have to end where he told you that you would end that in itself should give you peace number three

13:15number three the perfect response all right mark 4 verse 39 in the amplified classic mark 4 39

13:24and he arose and rebuked the wind and said to the sea hush now be still muzzled and the wind ceased sank

13:34to rest as if exhausted by its beating and there was immediately a great calm a perfect peacefulness

13:44isn't that joyful so when the disciple woke jesus from his peaceful rest he responded without hesitation

13:54now in the in the face of their fear and desperation because they were fearful jesus spoke with authority

14:01commanding the wind and the sea to be to to peace be still and instantly the storm ceased and a great

14:08calm settled over the waters now this moment reveals a profound truth when we call out to jesus in our

14:15moments of fear confusion or distress he hears us and responds but maybe you're thinking god still hasn't

14:23answered me i feel like i've been in this storm forever some of us can feel like that

14:30see when we follow jesus guidance just like the disciple did when he told them to cross to the other side

14:37we can trust that our storm will not last forever there is a divine experience expiration for the storm

14:47yes there is let's give you a bible verse for that

14:49uh that was supposed to be a bible verse george

14:59that's okay

15:02all right so just like life seasons

15:05i don't know what happened there but anyway just like life seasons seasons of testing do not last

15:13forever

15:15they are under god's ordained timing a divine test therefore has a season and every season

15:22expires as sabrina was saying his timing is perfect even though it doesn't seem to us

15:28and his power is unmatched even though he feels like he's not using it sometimes he shall not allow

15:34us his children to go through what we cannot bear even though it does feel at times like we we've just

15:40had enough yeah like we can't bear it anymore the storm on the sea was terrifying but it had a limit

15:48it ended when jesus said peace be still now let's get the verse for it all right 1 corinthians 10

15:55verse 13 1 corinthians 10 verse 13 in the king james version there hath no temptation taken you

16:03but such as is common to men but god is faithful who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are

16:12able but will the with the temptation also make a way to escape that ye may be able to bear it

16:23he makes the way to escape now if you miss that he'll make a way to escape again remember

16:29he will do that again psalm 107 28 to 30 psalm 107 28 to 30 in the amplified classic

16:36then they cry to the lord in their trouble and he brings them out of their distresses he hushes

16:44the storm to a calm and to a gentle whisper so that the waves of the sea are still then the men

16:53are glad because of the calm and he brings them to their desired haven oh wonderful verse right

17:00hallelujah lord let it be so right now here is freezing and right here in ballarat i think

17:08even last year was the same thing we know but this year we got like seven or eight or nine months of

17:13winter yeah it's insane i mean there's barely any sunlight on top of that oh my lord help us anyway

17:23thanks all right next number four number four revelation in the storm and we get quite a few

17:31here revelation in the storm mark 4 verse 40 mark 4 verse 30 i'm at i'm right now in this week it's a

17:42stage where the boat is well over the the mid mark you know up until the mid mark we always knew that

17:49jesus was in the boat now it's surpassed the mid mark so george is like panicking going jesus wake up

17:54jesus wake up that's what it feels like right now okay mark 4 verse 40 mark 4 verse 40 the new king

18:02james version but he said to them why why are you so fearful how is it that you have no faith

18:10wow wow wow george yeah let's go it was funny when when i was doing this teaching preparing it i have

18:22to say right this question isn't meant to condemn so why don't you have faith wasn't meant to be like

18:30you know you bunch of people uh people been with me for so long but you don't have faith it wasn't about

18:35that but it was meant to expose the reality of their hearts despite having jesus right there with

18:42them his presence was unmistakable and their fear revealed their limits of their trust doesn't mean

18:51they didn't have a trust up to then they were still going if they panic you know they thought that it

18:59will it will stop but it just didn't there was a limit to their trust now that the storm didn't

19:06just test their physical safety it revealed the depth of their faith their panic showed that they

19:12still struggle to fully rely on jesus even after witnessing his power and guidance this moment

19:20served as a reminder that faith is a journey so having said what i've just said right doesn't mean

19:27you have to look at yourself and say oh my goodness i do not have faith oh man the other

19:32people are doing better than me no no no these serve as a reminder that faith is a journey and we each

19:39of us have our own journey we are not competing in a race against others we have our own journey with

19:47christ now these journeys are often tested and refined through difficult experiences jesus purpose wasn't

19:55just to calm the sea but to grow his disciples faith the storm became a teaching moment an opportunity for

20:03them to learn to trust him more deeply even when circumstances seems frightening or even uncertain

20:12whatever you're going through right now and we may not know we have our own storm you have your own

20:17storm but jesus is with us in the storm jesus is with you it's in the storm it is a reminder for all of

20:24us today that challenges in life often reveal where our faith needs strengthening and that god uses this moment

20:33to help us grow how do we grow we don't grow by ourselves we go with we grow with christ so having said that

20:41that it is a time energy for us to grow remember be assured that you're not doing the work by yourself

20:48it's a relationship it's a relationship you're growing with christ each challenge is a step forward

20:54to a stronger more resilient faith closer closer into whom we are called to be pleasing unto the lord

21:02now let's get about two bible verses to back that up james 1 2 to 4 james 1 2 to 4 in the new king

21:09james version my brethren count it all joy when you fall into various trials knowing that the testing of

21:18your faith produces patience but let patience have its perfect work that you may be perfect and complete

21:26lacking nothing hebrews 11 verse 6 hebrews 11 verse 6 in the amplified classic but without faith it is

21:35impossible to please and be satisfactory to him talking about god for whoever would come near to god

21:42must necessarily believe that god exists and that he is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently

21:50seek him out now wait a second right what listen to that bit i don't want to keep explaining because

21:58it's self-explanatory for for whoever would come near to god must necessary love this um this version of

22:08of the verse believe that god exists right he said why believe that god exists because what he says he will

22:17do and that he is a rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek him out your circumstances is not

22:27going to be your rewarder jesus is your rewarder just because you're going through a circumstances

22:33doesn't mean oh because i went through hardship so i'll be a rewarder i'll be rewarded no listen jesus

22:39is your rewarder that's where your reward come not the circumstances that's why georgia and i sometimes

22:45we say that we don't we don't preach things just things that we've experienced with christ we preach

22:51the word of god our experience doesn't diminish the word of god or sorry more more explicitly a lack

23:01of experience in certain areas i should say forgive me does not diminish the word of god the word of

23:07god is a word of god is truth will happen his word will come to to um to effect in whatever he has

23:15said he is not a man may god that he should lie right number five number five facing the storm facing

23:23the storm mark 4 41 in the amplified classic mark 4 41 and they were filled with great awe and feared

23:30exceedingly and said one to another who then is this that even the wind and sea obey him now this question

23:40reveals a profound shift in their understanding they were beginning to grasp the true nature of jesus

23:46not just as their teacher or friend but as someone with divine authority and power over creation itself

23:55the storm became more than just a frightening experience it became a moment of revelation right

24:03this story reminds us that every storm we face has a potential to bring us closer to god

24:08when the winds of life rage around us those difficult moments can become opportunities for deeper insight

24:17and faith just as a disciple's understanding of jesus was transformed our challenges can reveal new

24:24dimensions of god character prayer and presence in our life and also who we are in christ who he has

24:30called us to be right let's get a bible verse two romans 8 28 romans 8 28 and amplified classic

24:38we are assured and know that god being a partner in their labor all things work together and are fitting

24:46into a plan for good to and for those who love god and are called according to his design and purpose amen

24:56you and i my husband and whoever is listening today or whenever you're listening remember very carefully

25:03you belong to christ he loves you and you're called according to his design and his purpose and that

25:10means there is a good hope there is a good future no matter what the circumstances no matter what the

25:16storm no matter what it looked like you'd like like that's it's the end of it that circumstances is not

25:23bigger than god let's keep going all right number six number six is a summary of all that we've covered

25:30today of the main points main focus points are you ready yeah so summer a summary of key truths from mark

25:384 35 to 41 which is what we covered today first one jesus leads the journey jesus leads the journey

25:49and let me add something here uh yes you have free will yes you make decisions but the more you seek

25:56god the more he will lead you through that journey even if your decisions were bad he will still

26:02redirect you into the right journey amen do you get what i just said because that's very important

26:08so he still leads the journey it's not that we sit back and go well he's sovereign he's you know

26:14i don't have to do anything and he's sovereign so he'll do whatever he's already predestined it

26:19it doesn't work like that there are certain things that are yeah but it does he still requires our

26:26cooperation but we need to regularly seek him amen and when we ask as the word of god says when we pray

26:34it means you continue to pray that's what that word actually means pray until you receive that's why he

26:41asks us to diligently seek him out seek him out he's talking about continuing to pray have that relationship

26:48with him until we get what he promised amen all right so i think it's in toothy material right it's

26:55talk about a warring for your prophecy so jesus leads the journey the storm came after he said let us go

27:05to the other side showing that storms can come even in obedience mark 4 35 to 36. you know the the the funny

27:15thing is this when he said he didn't say let's go to the other side he said it says let us go to the

27:21other side so god is on the journey till the end right number two storms test our faith even when

27:32following jesus hardship will come but his presence is his presence is with us mark chapter 4 37. all right

27:41his silence is not absence his silence is not absence jesus was asleep but he was still in the boat

27:51his peace surpassed the chaos mark 4 38. right he responds to faith-filled cries jesus arose and rebuked

28:02the storm showing he hears an act mark 4 verse 39. key here faith-filled cries not oh

28:11lord get me out of this i can't take it anymore i can't take it get me out of this he'll not get

28:16you out he'll get you through it and you need to stop breathe calm yourself down encourage yourself

28:24like david did and then pray the right prayers he needs to have faith behind it it has to be faith

28:30fueled prayers amen amen all right so the storm reveals what's inside of us this is also very very

28:37important the storm the storm reveals what's inside of us fear exposed the disciples lack of trust god uses

28:47storms to grow our faith mark 4 verse 40 storms brings revelation they ask who is this they are all

28:59deepened as they realize jesus divine authority mark chapter 4 verse 41 every storm has an expiration date

29:10every storm has an expiration date when jesus speaks chaos must cease his word still has the final say

29:20remember that amen amen all right number seven declarations hallelujah declarations so we're going

29:28to be doing declaration based upon the study we've just done today we always um unless specify otherwise

29:35we do it based on the study so it's a declaration prayer as we usually do all right heavenly father we

29:40come before you with hearts full of praise we praise you for you are the maker of heaven and earth the

29:46one who commands the winds and the waves and they obey lord we declare today isaiah 41 verse 10 even

29:54when the winds rise and our boat feels like it's sinking we will not fear because you are with us we decree

30:02and declare psalm 107 28 29 we believe that when we call upon you in our trouble you hear us and deliver us

30:11we decree and declare mark chapter 4 39 we declare that no storm is greater than your word when you say

30:18peace be still the chaos must cease and the one in our lives must cease we decree and declare hebrews 13

30:26verse 5 even in silence you are still present even when we cannot see the way your promises are our anchor

30:34we decree and declare mark chapter 4 40 we confess that we trust you not just for the calm after the storm

30:42but for your presence in the middle of it we declare jesus you are lord of the storm you are in our boat

30:51you are our peace you are our god in the mighty name of jesus we pray amen amen and amen glory to god hallelujah

31:02all right if there is anyone new here if this is the first time you're listening to this program

31:10if you have not made jesus your lord and savior today is your day you don't know how much time left

31:16you have and like everybody everybody has storms everybody has storms in their lives there's always

31:22storms in fact if you think about it because we are living in a fallen world and the bible does reveal

31:28twice that there is a prince of the air the prince of this uh of this world right now which is actually

31:35the devil which is satan the opposition um so we're constantly facing um storms in our lives

31:44as i said before some storms are really big some storms are so small we can barely notice it but the

31:50reality is you cannot overcome those storms without jesus you can't if jesus is not on your boat

31:56you're gonna sink you're gonna be just going by the grace of the waves or whatever you want to call

32:06it or the global warming or the climate change or whatever other gods they keep making up

32:11it doesn't work like that this is your time 1 john 5 4 to 5 is very clear and says for whatever is born

32:18of god overcomes the world whatever is born of god and this is the victory that has overcome the world

32:27our faith where are you putting your faith in yourself in some guru in money

32:34and that's going to lead you nowhere so who is he who overcomes the world but he who believes that jesus

32:41is the son of god jesus and jesus alone is the only way true in life amen the most famous verse in the

32:49christian circle in the christian religion the christian faith is john 3 16 to 17 which says for

32:57god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son talking about jesus christ that whoever believes in

33:03him should not perish but have everlasting life but god did not send his son into the world to condemn the

33:11world but that the world through him might be saved that might there is not on god's part is on your part

33:21that might there is only might because it's depending on your decision your free will if you say yes to

33:28jesus christ make him a lord and savior today and believe that god raised him from the dead you will

33:32be saved god's part he guarantees you he will save you he will accept you into the family of god and he

33:38will save you if you don't then you've made your choice 1 john 1 9 goes on to say that if we confess

33:48our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness

33:56as the word of god says it was sin that divided humanity from god sin in most simplistic form is

34:04when we try to live our lives by ourselves without god doing whatever we like whenever we like that is

34:11a sin we were created in relationship with god and in relationship with other believers god that's how

34:18god's created us and when we live without him we are disconnected we are living in sin and god is

34:24willing to wash you clean to cleanse you from all those things to deliver you from all those things

34:29and to make you a new creation so this is your moment what do you do i have to do george very clearly

34:36as you see on the screen romans 10 9 to 10 is very clear and he says that if you confess with your mouth

34:41the lord jesus and believe in your heart that god has raised him from the dead you will be saved for with

34:47the heart man believeth unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation do that

34:54right now there is no generic prayer there is no prayer where you have to repeat after me

34:59no you have to mean it has to come from your heart you cry out to god you say from this day forward in

35:06whatever way that comes in your heart you just have to be intentionally sincere with god and cry out to him

35:14in your own way right now and as you do that i'm gonna reveal a little bit more as you can see on

35:21the screen titus 3 verse 5 ephesians 2 verse 8 acts 1 verse 8 amongst others goes on to say once you've

35:27done that he saves you by grace through faith the gift of god washing away our sins and giving us the

35:36new joy of the indwelling holy spirit indwelling holy spirit what is that and you will receive power when

35:42the holy spirit comes upon you and you will be my witnesses telling people about me everywhere wow

35:49that sounds amazing yes that is what we call in the christian circles baptism of holy spirit and fire

35:55so it doesn't end there you make jesus your lord and savior just like you can hear my audible voice

36:01right now you cry out to him jesus i make you my lord and savior from this day forward i don't want to

36:05live without you anymore use my life for your glory wash me clean with the blood of jesus take away all my

36:12sins and from this day forward use me for your glory lord have your way in me that's what you need to

36:19do but now we're going to pray together we're going to pray for the baptism of holy spirit and fire we're

36:23going to invite holy spirit which is the very presence of god which is god himself to come and

36:29live inside of you you become the indwelling presence the temple the church the synagogue whatever

36:36you want to call it you become his dwelling place where he will come bearing spiritual gifts

36:43bearing spiritual gifts but he will also come and uh he will when he lives inside of you for the rest of

36:49your life he will equip you he'll protect you he will guide you he'll comfort you he'll correct you

36:55he'll do all those things and you'll teach you he'll teach you as well how to listen to his voice

37:02clearly how to walk after the spirit not after the flesh all those things becoming more and more

37:07christ-like amen amen let's do that lord i thank you for the privilege of praying with our brothers and

37:12sisters right now thank you for their salvation thank you lord thank you for their salvation thank you for

37:19this time and now we are hungry and thirsty and as your word says those that are hungry and thirsty

37:25for righteousness shall be filled you are the righteousness the word of god says that we are the

37:32righteousness of god in christ jesus christ jesus is our righteousness so right now lord

37:38we call upon you we say baptize us with fire feel us feel us afresh from head to toe inside and out

37:46let the spirit of god dwell in us more and more activate more of your kingdom which your word says

37:54that the kingdom of god is within us luke 17 let that be more and more activated that we may walk

38:01more and more after the spirit not after the flesh living by faith and not by sight yes pleasing unto you lord

40:44recognition we pray that you may be invigorated and strengthened with all power according to the

40:51might of his glory to exercise every kind of endurance and patience perseverance and forbearance with joy

40:58giving thanks to the father who has qualified and made us fit to share the portion which is the

41:04inheritance of the saints god's holy people in the light the father has delivered and drawn us to him

41:10self out of the control and the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of the son of
