00:00Tuesday, shares of NVIDIA hit an all-time high, propelling CEO Jensen Wong past LVMH's Bernard Arnault to become the world's sixth richest person.
00:11Shares of the chipmaker rallied to an all-time high after the company said sales of its H20 AI chip would resume soon in China, ending months of restrictions imposed by the Trump administration.
00:22This announcement ended months of restrictions imposed by the Trump administration on NVIDIA's chip sales to China.
00:28In April, the company had forecasted a $5.5 billion reduction in sales after the U.S. imposed restrictions.
00:36Wong even claimed that the $50 billion market in China for AI chips was, quote, effectively closed to U.S. industry.
00:44However, on Monday, NVIDIA announced that the U.S. government had assured the chipmaker that it would grant the company licenses to sell its H20 chips in China.
00:53The announcement also noted that earlier this month, Wong met with President Donald Trump and Chinese leadership in Beijing.
01:01On Tuesday, NVIDIA's stock opened to a record $171.19 and reached a new all-time high of $172.26 minutes later.
01:13NVIDIA recently also became the first company in history to be valued at $4 trillion.
01:19Currently, the chipmaker ranks ahead of Microsoft, Apple, and Amazon as the world's most valuable firm.
01:26As shares surged high, $145 billion was added to NVIDIA's market capitalization.
01:32The value of Wong's stake increased by more than $5.3 billion as shares rose.
01:37This ranks him just ahead of LVMH's Bernard Arnault and behind Google's Larry Page.
