00:00It's been an issue for locals for months, and now it's all over, the backlash has become
00:07clear as 100 people complained about the noise from Black Weir Live's 4 gigs in Butte Park.
00:14First came the massive green walls that residents said were an eyesore, and the limited access
00:18to much of the site also rubbed many the wrong way, and now when the concerts themselves
00:22took place, some have said they could hear the music from miles away from the site.
00:27And local councillor Rodney Berman said on X that he could hear the music booming from
00:32over two miles away at the Slayer concert while he had his windows closed in his study.
00:36He said he couldn't imagine the noise that people living close to the site were experiencing.
00:42Now all 4 gigs have finished, official complaints have been counted, with Noah Khan the first
00:46to perform receiving 40 complaints, Alanis Morissette on the lowest with 10, Slayer maybe unsurprisingly
00:51getting 36, and Stevie Wonder on 14 to bring the total up to around 100.
00:58While it's clear the noise from the stadiums has travelled, one Roth resident said that they
01:02welcomed hearing the music from across the city, as they felt it was a free mini concert,
01:06and they could also hear the Oasis gigs coming from the Principality Stadium too.
01:12The council said they had noise management practices in place, and the concerts complied with licensing,
01:18and all of the subsequent complaints will be dealt with in line with standard procedures.
01:24They argued that the events have brought in millions of pounds to the local economy, which
01:28could now help go towards maintaining and improving Butte Park.
01:33The gigs are over, world famous acts have come and gone, but the costs and benefits will be
01:37questioned in the months ahead.
