A woman "sworn off British men" after dead-end chat on dating apps went looking for love while on holiday in the US - and bagged a Texan husband after matching on Hinge.
Rachael St Clair, 33, was visiting family on a four-week trip to the States in June 2023 in Dallas when she decided to change her location settings on the dating app.
She matched with Michael St Clair, 30, a car valet, after being charmed by his smile and love for animals on his profile.
They met for their first date and spent nine hours together - going out for food, taking a cinema trip and walking around the neighbourhood where Rachael was staying.
Rachael loved Michael’s "old school chivalry" - after he gentlemanly opened doors for her and carried her things.
Falling head over heels for each other, the pair quickly became a couple and did long distance - with 4,604 miles between them - for 15 months before Michael proposed in front of their family and friends.
They tied the knot on February 14 this year at Michael’s grandparents’ home in Rowlett, Texas, and are waiting on Rachael's green card being approved before she is able to move to the States permanently.
As an American woman I’m ready to see the other side of the world because I feel like in America we are so much program to Tink a certain way that as a girl older raising an autistic nonverbal child I moved him out of the city of LA and moved to Oregon which is a slower life of living and that makes sense. I feel like America has only made us toxic and I always wonder what my life would be if I was born in a different country or maybe born in the country that one of my parents group in and they are both a different country but speaking but still it is still a different life on each side of the border sometimes I wonder if life beyond the US border Maybe would have lived happier and without all the stresses and pressure of society not only that but social media I feel like other countries are thriving right now while we’re being whither away
