In today’s GB News Daily Reflection, we speak about how the Bible ends.“It ends beautifully with the promise that just as Jesus left, he will one day return and it will be like a wedding between Jesus and his people who he loves.“It ends like this. The hold, the dwelling place of God is among the people. He will dwell with them. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes and death will be no more.“Might this be the true story of struggle, loss, victory and rest? Not just the story we’re in, but the one in which we’re invited to find our place.”

00:04Hi, I'm Chris Tufnell, the vicar of Utterbridge Parish Church.
00:11So many of the stories we love culminate in a great battle or confrontation,
00:17one at great cost, allowing the hero and the people they've saved
00:22to enjoy peace and rest with those they love.
00:26Victory was never the goal itself, the goal was what came after,
00:32peace with the ones we love.
00:34Such a precious thing, it made the struggle, the fight, the cost, worth it in the end.
00:41We humans had been telling ourselves versions of that story for as long as we know.
00:47It touches something in us that's very deep and very old.
00:51Like an early childhood memory we can never quite remember, but never quite forget.
00:58Some may call it sentimentality or wishful thinking,
01:02but might it be the echoes of a true story to which we've just forgotten the names of the characters?
01:08The Christian claim is that it is a true story, the true story in which we all live,
01:17and that at its heart is not a myth, but a man, Jesus Christ.
01:22And that in his death and resurrection, he won the great battle for us at the cost of his life,
01:29so that peace, Christians believe, is now available to all who trust in him.
01:36The Bible ends beautifully with the promise that just as Jesus left, he'll one day return,
01:42and it'll be like a wedding between Jesus and his people who he loves.
01:47It ends like this,
01:48Might this be the true story of struggle, loss, victory, and rest?
02:08Not just the story we're in, but the one in which we're invited to find our place.
