Ford Recalls 1.1 Million Vehicles Over Rearview Camera Glitch Linked To Software

Ford Motor is recalling nearly 1.1 million vehicles across multiple models from 2021 to 2025, according to CNBC. The recall is due to a software defect that may cause rearview camera images to freeze, delay, or not display, increasing crash risk, according to a new NHTSA filing. The issue was reproduced by Ford engineers in April and linked to specific software variants. Ford reported one minor crash tied to the defect and plans to remedy the issue via over-the-air software updates. Owner notification letters will be sent starting June 16th. This recall follows previous Ford recalls for similar issues and comes months after the company agreed to a $165 million penalty for delayed action on camera defects.
