00:21have this special hat on and so the bees even if they try and sting me they can't
00:27even get to me and I can still breathe in it which is also helpful I have to put my
00:33bee suit over the gumboots so the bees can't get in them and this is where I'm
00:37going to need some help it's hard we need to duct tape it and so the bees can't get
00:48into my suit guys I'm all duct taped up and now the last step is to put on the
00:54gloves these gloves also need to be sealed with duct tape all good to go
01:01guys this is a smoker we use it to calm down the bees okay Brooke we're gonna be
01:07having a look at the apiary today we generally try and open our hives every
01:11four to six weeks and inspect them and make sure that all the bees are healthy
01:15and happy and they've got enough food looks like a train going
01:21back to home open look at all those bees

01:32in here we've got ten removable frames all the bees that you're seeing here are generally worker bees
01:39worker bees what's the difference between the worker bees and the drone bees so the
01:43drone bees are your male bees see the size different he's much bigger the drone
01:48can't sting and all the other little ones that you see those are all worker bees
01:52those are the ones that can sting they're the ones that make our honey

02:02guys look at the drone they're huge what we're looking at here on this frame it's all the
02:08brood in the different stages the different larval stages and the different
02:11troupation stages wow guys check this frame we've got eggs we've got lava and we've
02:18got capped cells inside these cells are bees being made they go in as lava and come
02:26out as worker bees so I'm just looking for the queen at the moment and she's
02:31normally surrounded by lots of other worker bees
