00:00I'm on Holland America Line's incredible Westerdown ship, cruising up the coast of New Zealand.
00:06Now this has just been the most fun cruise. I'm going to show you some of my favourite shore excursions.
00:12A trip to New Zealand is one filled with warm humour, beautiful countryside and stark reminders
00:19of the land's propensity for earthquakes. There is a resilience and a roughness to the nation
00:24that makes it even more beautiful for travelling around.
00:27Make sure you check out a winery while you're there. It's New Zealand's prized export.
00:33You'll find Sauv Blanc, of course, but some of the best wines are their Chardonnays and Rieslings.
00:40If you get the chance to go on a bush walk, you'll be delighted to find the landscape
00:44very similar to Australia's but with a few quirky differences.
00:49Queen Charlotte Sound's track near Picton Port is a beautiful walk around the idyllic sounds.
00:54The fern-filled bush reminded me of Jurassic Park and I swear those cicadas sound slightly different
01:00to back home. Birds are plentiful and beautiful in New Zealand and it's well worth visiting the
01:08Zealandia Eco Sanctuary in Wellington, where you can see native and vulnerable species flying in and
01:14out of the forest as they please. Whatever you do, don't miss the country's geothermal pools.
01:24They're extraordinary. We visited some in the living Maori village at Rotorua,
01:30where we were greeted with a delightful rendition of the harker.
