00:00Joe, where do you sit on the Tigers here, and how do you think they're going to fare?
00:04I really like Reese Olsen, he's their SP3, if that's a sleeper from this team, I would
00:09offer that.
00:10Joe, what do you like?
00:11Yeah, I think Olsen can give you some innings and be pretty decent, again, a good finisher
00:14guy that picked up off a lot of waiver wires, a guy we talked about on this show.
00:17I remember on a waiver wire segment more than once, where he just kept floating around there
00:21and said, hey, pick up Reese Olsen, because this Tigers team is really putting things
00:24together.
00:25And it's been such a long wait for the Tigers to be good.
00:28They've had so many years of losing, and so little to show for it.
00:32Some of the can't miss guys haven't really hit necessarily, right, we're waiting for
00:35Matt Manning, eventually we got Casey Mize, and Torkelson hasn't been as advertised necessarily
00:40a lot of up and down for him, more down than up, unfortunately.
00:44But it is intriguing that the Guardians are, as our producers pointing out, the third on
00:49the board right now for this division.
00:50The Tigers are at second, plus 240, the Twins at plus 200, which is laughable.
00:55Again, it's like, I mean, if the Twins could say healthy, you know, it's a steal.
01:00That never happens.
01:01If, if, if, if, if we show it to me one time, and then I'll invest in it.
01:05I can't get there.
01:06But the Tigers, on the other hand, you look at this team, you look at what they have to
01:09offer offensively.
01:12I think Torres, even though the ballpark factor is not going to be as favorable to him.
01:16Maybe the ballpark factor of this, the change of scenery and getting out of New York is
01:20good for Gleyber Torres.
01:21I feel like the Yankee fan base and Gleyber Torres was just not a good mix.
01:26And it seemed like he was just constantly under scrutiny, no matter how good he was.
01:31It just didn't matter.
01:32And I think getting out of there is good.
01:34Kerry Carpenter, a player you mentioned, I really like a lot.
01:36And Riley Green, too.
01:37These are two very good young outfielders.
01:39You're getting a discount on fantasy drafts on both of them because they play on a small
01:43market Detroit Tigers team where people just still aren't aware of how good they can be.
01:49And both of them need to put in a full, very good season, I think, for people to start
01:53to buy in.
01:54But I'm buying in now on the cheap on Carpenter and Green.
01:57Torkelson, we'll see.
01:58Colt Keith, on the other hand, was moving from second base to first base, bumping Torkelson
02:02to DH.
02:03Makes this lineup deeper.
02:05But Colt Keith is a very strong contributor.
02:09He's a guy that's going to give you a decent average.
02:10He's going to steal a couple bases.
02:12He's going to drive in runs.
02:13He's going to hit for some power.
02:15I like Colt Keith a lot as a versatile player that can qualify at second and second isn't
02:20very good.
02:21But he's going to be playing at first base.
02:22So if you're looking for a guy in that middle infield spot late, might I recommend Colt
02:26Keith to you?
02:27Try the Colt Keith.
02:29It's delicious.
02:32The rest of this lineup, though, is where things kind of fall apart for me.
02:35Sweeney, Perez.
02:38You have Rodgers.
02:39Like, it's just not a spot where you want to be.
02:40The rotation, too.
02:42Really good at the top with Schuble.
02:44Jack Flaherty.
02:45I know you had your issues with Jack Flaherty last year.
02:47He kept waiting for the wheels to fall off.
02:49Obviously, they did not.
02:50He ended up going to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
02:52Ended up going back to Detroit, which I don't know about you, Matt.
02:56I think that's the best case scenario, right?
02:58Where you had your big breakout success after years of toiling and wondering in St. Louis,
03:03where did the good Jack Flaherty go?
03:05Well, he found himself in Detroit.
03:06Now he's back there.
03:07So now that he's back in Detroit, does that make you want to invest more in Jack Flaherty
03:11this season?
03:13I think he's insulated between Schuble and Olsen.
03:16I have a cardinal fear, being a cardinal fan, for those that are new to the show, seeing
03:21some of the things that Jack Flaherty has shown on the mound, kind of has left me with
03:24some mental scars.
03:25But now I think he's insulated and I think he can pitch better.
03:28I think he's more mature.
03:29I think he can pitch with a different lineup.
03:31And depending on what happens with the back end of that bullpen, that's going to really
03:34dictate how far these guys go.
03:36Again, we're in a time now, especially from a wagering perspective, just look for guys
03:40that are going to go six and turn it over to a pen.
03:42Give them a quality start, catch a win, get a few Ks along the way.
03:46All right.
03:47You mentioned despair, and it's a perfect segue into this final team.
03:51As I understand it, our TD Jake is actually a legitimate and admitted Chicago White Sox
03:56fan.
03:57So let's have this conversation.
03:58I don't know any other show out there that's spending any time on the White Sox here.
04:03Some young names that came back in some trades, some familiar names as well.
04:09Joe, what do you say to someone that wants to wager, wants to invest, wants to be on
04:14a fantasy side of the White Sox?
04:16Where are we looking?
04:17Oh, geez.
04:18Is he wearing his Bobby Jenks jersey right now?
04:22Is that what he's wearing?
04:23Just that.
04:24Nothing else.
04:25There's a name you haven't thought of in a long time.
04:27Remember Bobby Jenks?
04:28Remember that guy?
04:29What's he doing?
04:30That's well done, Joe.
04:31I wonder.
04:32Watching the show?
04:33He's it.
04:34I don't know.
04:35There's a lot of names in my brain that will pop up when you say White Sox.
04:38Probably got a Mark Burley jersey.
04:39That's probably more likely.
04:45It was historically bad last year.
04:48Might be historically bad this year.
04:50I just got in our e-mail just waiting two minutes, and I'm just like, oh, geez.
04:57Here's the thing.
04:58Luis Robert, extreme value because the team is so bad.
05:01He is a guy that can hit 30 home runs, steal 25 bases.
05:05Those guys are hard to find, and he's coming in at a discount.
05:08Draft him.
05:09That's the only guy that I'm drafting on this team.
05:11That's it.
05:12It's the only guy that I want to draft on the White Sox.
05:14The win total for this team, 51.5, 52.5.
05:18I mean, I want to say over because it's so low, but I don't know if I can.
05:21I am out on the White Sox completely.
05:24I'm sorry.
05:25It's that bad, but the good news is this division still has some breakouts and some sleepers
05:29in it.
05:30I already mentioned him.
05:31It's Kyle Manzardo, who, once again, we talked about the spring training he is having.
05:35It has been absolutely spectacular, and I think when you're looking for post-hype prospects,
05:42which is something oftentimes we get, especially guys who bounce around in organizations, right?
05:47You started off in one, and then you move to another.
05:50He was with the Rays, and they're like, okay, well, that didn't work out, and now we're
05:54going to be over with the Cleveland Guardians.
05:55Sorry.
05:56I misspoke earlier about the Cubs.
05:58Manzardo, you're in a position here where, right now in spring, he is showing you maybe
06:04he's ready.
06:054'12 batting average, 460 OBP, 735 slugging, three homers in 34 at-bats.
06:11That's the Kyle Manzardo we've been waiting for, and then there's David Festa, who last
06:15year came up with the Twins, had two awful starts, and then was absolutely fantastic
06:22for the rest of his time.
06:23Now, will he make that rotation?
06:25They're probably going to give Simeon Woods, Richardson, and Paddock the first crack at
06:29those four and five spots.
06:30I'd be stashing David Festa, because at some point, he's just too good to not take over,
06:36and I do think he is going to be a guy that, by the end of this season, we're going to
06:40look back and say, probably one of the guys that was most added that helped people win
06:44leagues.
